CVS checkout timed out, shouldn't have

In JDev 10g 9.0.5.1, I am attempting to perform a CVS checkout module. This has worked without problem before in both 9.0.5.1 and 9.0.5, however, I am now seeing some strange behavior. First, it takes approximately 2 minutes for the checkout command (cmd.exe /c cvs -d :pserver:<username>@<hostname>:/project checkout Module) to show up in the Messages tab. Second, the list of files being checked out grows quickly but then on the very last file, JDev's progress bar animation starts stuttering and takes up 99% of the CPU time. After a couple more minutes, I get the following dialog box:
Unable to check out files from CVS repsistory.
cvs server: Updating Project/Project/war/jsp/mod
Process did not respond after 60000 milliseconds, timed out.
I've tried this several times, with and without restarting JDev and, starting this morning, it consistently fails. I tried reproducing the problem outside of JDev, using CVSNT's console cvs command, and it doesn't reproduce. Performing the same checkout from the console works repeatedly without hitch.
I don't think this has anything to do with the last file that JDev checks out before timeout. In fact, after the timeout, when I go to the project directory and examine the last file to appear in the Messages tab during checkout, it exists and is uncorrupted. I think JDev is timing out on whatever process it usually does immediately following the retrieval of the last file.
Anyone have any ideas on how to fix or workaround this?
Thanks,
Jeff

Hi,
Which specific version of CVSNT are you using? Are your checked out files on your local hard disk, or on a shared network drive?
The timeout is configurable via the CVS page in preferences. The behavior you're seeing is consistent with what I know of the implementation - it's not actually possible to safely terminate CVS commands once they start, so if a command takes an excessive amount of time, JDeveloper will eventually time out, but the command may still eventually complete in the background.
The main thing we need to investigate is why CVS is running so slowly on your machine from within JDeveloper...
Thanks,
Brian

I can not dowload the new updated software for my Ipod touch 4G. When i do I get an error message that says Network connection has timed out. I have done the trouble shooting steps. Downloaded the latest version of Itunes, and checked network connection

Disabling the computer's antivirus and firewall during the download and update usually resolves the timeout error.

  • HT4587 em.  Now they say an error has occured.  The network has timed out.  I have rebuilt it and reconfigured the units, done hard resets.  What can I do now?

My 2 airport express units have worked until now.  I only play Itunes on them and have reconfigured them, done hard resets on the expresses and the extreme, built new networks and started all over.  when I can finally see them in airport utility and make sure they are connected to my network I still can't play them in itunes.  I can select them, but the error message is that the network connection timed out.  Used to work just fine.  Its gotta be a setting, but I can't figure it out.  I tried to change the channels, but it isn't very intuitive.  Airport Extreme is channel 11, one of the Airport Express' is channel 1, and the other is 50 something.  (I can't pull it up in airport utility, even though it shows green light and appears on my ipad.

Disable your firewall/security software, then try again.

  • Facebook timed out while writing a post.  Any attempt to open FB, now shows post that was in progress and immediately crashes app.  Cannot clear timed out item.  Have power failed and done warm reboot on iPad.   Is Delete/Reinstall only option?

Was writing post, as part of sharing article from my newsfeed.   While writing, Facebook timed out.  Display cleared.  App recycled and returned to newsfeed.  This has happened previously and for all purposes, the original post, since it had never been "loaded" onto FB servers effectively was deleted from iPad memory.  That appeared to be the case yesterday; as I was able to continue reading, sharing and commenting on other articles.
Later, as I was shutting iPad down for the night, scrolled through open Apps and discovered the original FB window was still "open" I'd apparently been working on a 2nd or mirror version of the app.  Attempting to access the original page; it opens, but I am unable to "interact" with the display/app, pressing "cancel" on my original post has no effect.  Within 5-6 seconds FB crashes.
I power failed the iPad, left it over night and today am encountering the same problem.   Tapping FB icon, brings up the post that was timed out.  It displays for 2-3 seconds max, then original article and partial post disappear.  Newsfeed appears to be loading as that and contact columns are visible in light font indicating they are preparing to load.   2-3 seconds, that vanishes.  Am left with blue header band, spinning wheel indicating it is trying to communicate or process something.   2-3 seconds and then screen goes black and I'm returned to my app desktop.
If I immediately tap icon to reopen I get white screen, with blue header band.   2-3 seconds, black screen, back to app desktop.   If I wait 2 minutes, I get the full shared article, partial post as described above.  I've confirmed in the problem log that this is failing in Thread 0 and showing up as system crash.
Based on feedback to somewhat similar FB problem I found in forum; in addition to doing power fail.  I also did warm reboot (Home and Sleep keys) in hope app would reboot along with ios.  No change.
At this point, I'm assuming my only viable option is to delete the app and reinstall it from App Store.  Easy enough to accomplish.  But wanted to see if there were any other recommendations, or whether anyone else has experienced a similar failure with FaceBook.
    Thanks for your assistance.

  • I am trying to creat an Apple Id account.  Everytime I fill out the info and they as me to verify me email address it says "Sorry".  Underneath in small letters it say "Session timed out etc"  I have tried resetting password and double checked my ID

It says sorry you session has expired.  Verizon said it is a "apple" problem  I have tried many times!!

This can also happen when the internet/3g/4g connection is too slow. Time out errors happen when a website takes more than a certain amount of time to load. The time limit is usually long enough for any website with reasonable connection speed. You might try using a different wifi location. If you are using a computer with an ethernet port, try plugging the ethernet cord into the CPU.

There was a problem downloading the software for theIpod.  An unknown error occurred (9006)
Make sure your network settings are correct and your networkconnection is active, or try again later.
This was the last error message.

Try disabling a/v software and turning off the Firewall.
    Disable antivirus software
    Turn-Windows-Firewall-on-or-off
    Then try to update.

  • I have a Windows 7 Computer.  When I go into itunes store, it comes up, and I can navigate in it, but a box keeps appearing saying accessing itunes store.  I then get a session timed out, so can't purchase anything.

I own a Windows 7 computer.  I can get into itunes okay, and I can get into the itunes store okay.  After I am in the store, a box keeps appearing that says "Accessing itunes store".  It goes on and off.  I am able to navigate when the box is not showing.  If I try to download music,  I get to the point where I need to agree to the agreement contract, then says "Session Timed Out."  I have the latest versions of itunes and all my Windows Updates.  What can I do about this?

I was struggling with this since my latest Itunes update.  Fiirst it would not recognize my IPad as a device, after correcting that, it would list the Ipad in my device but my Sync had no options (summry, info, etc). and it kept saying it was "Accessing Itunes store".  reading your question I suddently tried deleting the itunes task (alt-ctrl, delete, processes) and delete Itunes.  (By the way, I had rebooted my computer several times over the last few days).  I opened up Itunes, and voila. Device is there. No "accessing windows" and my sync has the normal options.
