MacBook pro won't power up! Acting asleep, black screen, fans don't fire up. Light nr catch pulsing, have taken batt out and reset but still blank screen, help!!

You may want to try this.
    Solution A
Start up your MBP while pressing Option (alt)|, Command, P, R until your hear 3 chimes rather than 2 as indicated by apple. This worked for me the first time.
    Solution B
Start your MBP while pressing Option (alt), Command, S
Hold until you see the computer automatic routine. When it finally stops type the following followed by "return":
    fsck -fy
It will probably indicate some problem related to "pcscd.pub" (should be 16 instead of 17). I haven't figured out what this means but somewhere in the Internet i read it is related to scan cards...
More importantly this routine will fix any problems with your HDD similarily to disk repair. When it ends, it will tell you if it has fixed/modified anything. If it has, run the routine again by typing again "fsck -fy"
Lastly, reboot by typing "reboot" (followed by "return")
    Solution C
Start up your MBP while pressing option (alt), command, S
hold keys until you see computer commands scrolling
when the routine stops type the following, each line followed by the "return" key:
    mount -uw /
    chmod 775 /
    chmod 1775 /
    reboot
After which your computer should reboot on it's own.
Each of the above has worked for me at one time or another. Once your computer has rebooted from the DVD you can reinstall OS X. If your problems started after installing 10.5.6, then I don't suggest updating until 10.5.5.
I'm very very disappointed with my 2007 MBP, it started to give me problems after 1 year. had to change the HDD and lately when I isntalled 10.5.6 it suddenly refused to start up., My previous Mac laptop (2003 866Mhz) worked for 4 years without a hitch. Ironically I've had to use it to access the internet and find solutions for my current MBP.
    best of luck

My internet connection is fine, and when I open up iTunes everything comes up right, my iPod works perfectly. But when I click on the iTunes Store it only loads halfway and gives me a blank screen. HELP!

There are at least 20 threads pertaining to this problem (some from last year, one I saw was from 2006). I suggest anyone who visits this thread redirect to https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3223139?start=0&tstart=0. It has the two most popular solutions and anyone with ongoing issues can discuss and/or form an unruly mob there.

  • Installing Firefox 31 in Windows 8.1 just gives a blank screen and 'not responding' error

Firefox 31 was installed and running perfectly on my Asus laptop under win 8.1, until this morning. I opened the browser and just got a blank, white screen. Task manager showed Firefox as 'not responding'. I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox twice, as administrator, trying 'reset Firefox' the second time. No change. I downloaded Firefox 29 and could install that. It opens but freezes and stops responding as soon as I enter a web address. I'm puzzled as Firefox was working perfectly until this morning. Has anybody come across the same problem and, better yet, found a solution?

It could be the work of one of your add-ons, or even add / mal-ware.
Look thru your add-ons list and make sure you know what each one is
and what it does. Also, check the programs that are on your computer
'''Windows:''' Start > Control Panel > Uninstall Programs.
    '''Mac:''' Open the "Applications" folder

    * Xfce: Applications Menu category sections
    * options depends on the package manager and the desktop environment
Go thru the list. If you find something that you don't
know what it is, use a web search.

  • I downloaded Firefox to my PC and olny get a blank screen when I click on the Icon, Why?

I only had Internet Explorer on this new( to me) PC and wanted to download FireFox. I downloaded it to my PC and when I click on the Firefox Icon, all I get is a blank screen with a small menu bar at the top left. I DO NOT get the icons that show on the sample input screen at the top right. All I get is the History icon which does nothing when I press it. I deleted the Firefox app from my PC and downloaded it a second time and it does the same thing. My son gave me this used PC, but it did NOT have firefox on it. What do I do now?

It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full, unrestricted, access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

  • E 72 crash and stuck on white blank screen

i just saved mms settings and rebooted my E 72 and then it would not start. it gets stuck on a white blank screen. what to do?

Try doing the following as well:
1.. *#7780# - Restore factory settings - resets all the settings to the default ( you will not lose any data)
     - Make sure you back up your data first as you will lose all of it when you perform. The default code for ALL operations listed here is 12345.
2.*#7370# - Reformat your phone. ALL data may be lost. still it is a good idea to always do a back up of your stuff.
This you perform as a last resort. Nothing else is working. If the phone is not showing any activity, proceed with hard formatting , turn off your phone, hold the following buttons while pressing the power button. (the default code is 12345)
    3. hard reset - hold the following buttons * (star key), 3 (number button) and talk/green key. turn on the phone and do not release those buttons until you see the Nokia boot up screen. once you feel the phone power up you can let go off the power button while still holding all three buttons.
If these codes are not working the only thing for you to do is contact your Nokia Care Center/Service for assistance.

  • Hi, my iPad 2 keeps dropping out and going back to blank screen, I then have to enter my password again, start downloading or reading and it happens again. I have reset the iPad but it is still the same.

Hi, my iPad 2 keeps dropping out and going back to a blank screen. I have to again enter my password and go back to what I was doing and then it happens again, I have tried resetting and nothing has changed.
    Thanks
    Ron

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.  You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without be charged again.  Also, if you have IOS-7, read this.

When I open iTunes Store I just get a blank screen. All other apps working fine.

    Hi there,
You mentioned you used the Cleaner Tool to uninstall everything, but still have Adobe App Manager (AAM) installed? Please try running the Cleaner Tool again (Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6)
Remove all CC files and be sure to uninstall AAM.
Then download the CC Desktop App here: https://creative.adobe.com/products/download/creative-cloud
After you launch the desktop app, use the Apps panel to install the programs you need.

  • App Store updates gives a blank screen

Opened App Store app and selected update. Alligator is blank screen.  The other choices, featured, etc seem to being fine.  I tried a shutdown, restart.  Problem continues.  Notei have same problem on iPad and iPad mini.  Don' t dare try on iPhone

There have been numerous reports on the forum today regarding this issue. It seems to be an issue at Apple, but no information has been posted on the status site.

  • Movies downloaded to my ipad are getting stuck and I get a blank screen

I donwload a couple episodes from a tv show, the first 3 episodes were great I saw them no problem, BUT then when I dowloaded the 4, I started watching and when it get to 75% of the episode stops, if I go back it gets stuck on the same part, then i get a blank screen and I have get out of the application if I get back on still the same blank screen, I downloaded the follwing episode from the same show and still the same problem.
I though that it could be space on the Ipad -  I deleted some application and still the same problem....
I don't want to keep downloading and paying for something that is not working properly
This is only happening with I tunes - I'm able to watch ABC apps and Netflix...
    Can you help me?

Have you tried copying them to your computer and seeing whether they play ok on your computer's iTunes, in case the download itself is corrupt ?
If the Videos app is still stuck, then try searching for the name of one of the videos on the iPad's spotlight search screen - swipe your first homescreen to the right, type in it's name, and if it finds it tap on it to see if it plays.
If that doesn't work then try closing the Videos app completely : from the home screen (i.e.not with the Videos app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Videos app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
A third option if the two above don't work is a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • Booting into Boot Camp gives a blank screen

Hello there, nice to meet you all.
I have an old mid-2010 MacBook Pro 13", and a while back I set up bootcamp on it so I could run Windows 7 and Mac OS. I prefer to have both for various reasons.
But just yesterday, I was experiencing difficulties with using the Windows partition of the drive. It constantly froze and gave the message "Display driver has crashed and has successfully recovered."
It was bugging me, so I closed down all my programs and applications, then restarted my computer. But after I held down the [alt]/[option] and selected BootCamp, the computer screen just went to black instead of the windows loading screen. I thought it may just be taking a while, but I waited over thirty minutes and there was no sign of it starting back up, or even any kind of change at all. I tried turning up the brightness, adjusting the volume, and trying to click around for maybe a response. But no such luck.
I forced a shut down on my Mac and let it start up naturally to its Mac OS. Everything is working perfectly on that end.
Does anyone have any idea what could be going on here, or if there's a fix?
And if not (meaning I would have to wipe the windows OS and reinstall bootcamp) does anyone know if there's a way to access the %appdata% folder from the Mac OS side? I have all my important files saved, but I had some important tabs open in my web browser (firefox) that I'd prefer not to lose, and I'm fairly sure that data is kept in that folder, but it's hidden on the Windows side.
Thank you for reading through all that, any answers at all are greatly appreciated!

Your Mac (from MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2010) - Technical Specifications) indicates a nVidia GT320m. If you have Windows set to automatically update and any driver updates are pushed to the Mac, you are likely to see this behavior. Can you boot Windows into Safe Mode? If yes, you should rollback the GPU driver (check what version you have before you rollback) and install the BC driver instead.
On a Mac, if the BC drivers are installed (and you are not on Yosemite), both OSes have read-only access to partitions of the other OS. For example, in OS X, you should be able to open the Bootcamp volume in OS X Finder and see your files. The reverse is also true, and you can see the OS X files in Windows Explorer.
