LR 4.2 will not send D600 NEF files to CS5 or CS6 whenever I right click on the image and chose "Edit In"...is this a glitch that is to be fixed in the upcoming LR upgrade or is this something I can fix now? Converting to a jpeg or dng before I can export to CS is a pain in the rumpus ;o)

They are release candidates, which means they're undergoing final testing but they're much more stable than a beta version. They have full support for the D600, so you should find the rendering looks better too.

I have an Edit In - Photoshop option, but not an Export - Photoshop option.
Obviously to have right-click Edit In to work, the photo you're right-clicking on needs to be selected. I assume this is not the problem, and that the photo is selected.
Mavericks 10.9.3 has a problem where the Users folder is hidden, and you need to update iTunes to fix it, but it's been a few weeks since this happened so hopefully you're up-to-date and the Users folder isn't hidden anymore.
If you can't get things to work, I'd uninstall LR and uninstall Photoshop, then install Photoshop, and update it, then install LR and update it, as a way to get any wayward security or other OS-level things reset.

Yes, it will never be upgraded. If your camera is not included in ACR 6.7 or earlier, you will need to buck up and buy new stuff. Either that or stick with legacy cameras.
Doesn't it seem odd that consumers will invest in an expensive camera with out giving thought to the software they need to go with it?
At some point you can expect ACR to move to an 8.x series. Elements 11 uses the 7.x series. You can assume there will be an Elements 12 release in the Fall. It won't be until then that you will know what ACR versions will be used. If you buy a camera released in 2014, odds are you will need to get 2014 software too.
I went through a series of new cameras and camcorders since I bought Elements 9. To get the best out of each camera and the counterpart Elements capabilities I bought both 10 and 11. There was also the expense of books and online training courses.
I am now very pleased with the combination of software, computer, cameras, printer and display screens I have. I have taken an oath to myself to not mess with the balance between it all and devote my efforts to mastering my collection.
Adobe is not going to update ACR for Elements 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, etc either! Can you imagine what it would take to make ACR backward compatible to so many versions?
In fact, Adobe is switching their pro strategy to online "rental" from the Creative Cloud which will make the entire "keep it current" process easier for those that make their living with imaging software.

I suspect that the DNG converter will work for you if you use it properly. It isn't your fault, but Adobe has created a kind of a silly interface in the DNG converter. Notice that it is asking you for the folder. When you are browsing for a location within the DNG converter, choose the folder, but don't open the folder. If you do then the DNG converter will tell you there are no images to convert. If you choose the folder then the DNG converter will convert all the files within that folder.

Can't send files to CS5 from Lightroom

For some reason I can't send files to CS5 from Lightroom 5 and have no idea why. It was never a problem before. I also am not able to open files in the Nik collections from Lightroom. Any ideas?

While in LR5. I would either right click or go to the Photo tab > Edit in > Edit in photoshop CS5, or on one of the Nik collections plug ins. And absolutely nothing happens. I tried reinstalling SC5 and LR5 with the updates. And it still doesn't work. My OS is W7. I haven't tried updating Niks collection yet.
I have no idea what to do from here.

D7100, .nef files will not open, batch rename naming files differently

I recently purchased the D7100/Nikon and I am having problems opening the nef files in Bridge and Photoshop CS6 (even after updating – Raw 8.4) and also renaming the files. Lightroom 4.4, no problem.
I also tried batch renaming the files, and Bridge is not keeping the .jpg and .nef files consistent as with my old camera (D90). Also, it is creating a new date on the .nef file, rather than keeping it to the day it was shot.
Old way:
20140322_LasVegas_0165.jpg
20140322_LasVegas_0165.nef
NOW:
20140322_LasVegas_0165.jpg
20140413_LasVegas_0166.nef
I do use the DNG converter to convert the .nef files, and keep all file names consistent (.jpg, .nef, .dng).
Is something lacking in the updates for Bridge/Photoshop for this camera to view the .nef files? Is there anything I can do in Bridge to fix the Batch Renaming? I really do not want to go to each .nef file and rename each one individually. Help!

You probably forgot to include the extension .dng or renamed with an extra dot (.) in the filename. Be surr to have only 1 dot with the three letter extension dng at the end (. dng)
You can use Bridge for that again to rename and use the dng extension

Will PSE 12 be able to open D7100 NEF files?

I have PSE 9 and recently purchased a Nikon D7100. Depsite the updated ACR plug ins it will not open D7100NEF files. I've downloaded a trial of Lightroom but rather than use a whole new program I would rather update my current PSE....does any one know if I will be able to access the NEF files in PSE 12?

I am currently using the Nikon D3200 and I can't update my camera raw plug-in to 7.1 because I am using CS5. On the supported cameras page, (http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html) it says that I need 7.1 in order to open my NEF files, I am currently using 6.7.1... What can I do to edit my photos? (Apart from upgrading to another version of Photoshop)

Download Adobe DNG Converter 8.5 for free. Check system requirements first, you might have to use an older version, like 8.3 if you're on XP or an old OSX.
Install it and run it. Go into Preferences, look for Compatibility settings and change it to ACR 6.6 and later.
Point it at a folder of D3200 NEFs and create DNG copies. You can open these copies in ACR 6.7.

Difficulties Editing Nikon D7100 NEF Files In PE10.

I recently purchased a Nikon D7100 and uploaded NEF files for editing. Unfortunately I am experiencing difficulties with them and cannot. Format will not open in PE10. Is anyone else experiencing the same? Does anyone know of a fix?

If this is a brand new camera files than I am afraid the only way to edit them are as follows:
1) Buy PSE12 if you can afford;
2) Use the software that came with your camera to export the files so that PSE can understand them;
3) Use Adobe's DNG converter from this link:

Elements 9 won't open Nikon D7100 NEF files

I recently upgraded from a Nikon 7000 to a Nikon D7100 DSLR camera. Historically I was able to open and process NEF files in Photoshop Elements 9 from my D7000. But now it will not open those files. I clicked on the Help/Update link and it says my version is fully updated. What do I have to do to be able to open these NEF files as I did before with those files from my D7000?

Support for the D7100 was added to ACR 7.4 so you'll need PSE11 or later to open them directly. You can either use the Nikon software to convert them or the free Adobe DNG converter to convert them to DNG files that PSE9 can open.

You need LR 4.4 or newer to work with photos from a D7100 natively.
You can download, install and run the DNG Converter 4.4 or newer to convert a folder of NEFs to DNGs and those DNGs will open in an older version of LR.
The DNG Converter is available no this page. Keep in mind that the latest versions require a newer OS than XP but older versions should be ok:

NEF files not readable in Lightroom

I have just bought a D7000 and a first time user of Lightroom 3. Updated saftware to 3.5 but program will not show NEF files. Installed Nikon NX program and it will display all the NEF files I shot. I spent several hours trying to find a solution on the web with no sucess
