Dashboard prompt no respond

I have 3 reports (one in each section) within the same dashboard page.
2 of the reports have dashboard a page prompt (2 different prompts created for each). The 1st page prompt works for the 1st report but the 2nd report does not respond to the prompt.
How do I resolve this?

I have a prompt with 4 columns-full date, customer number, customer name and customer (concat of customer number and name) in the same order. I checked Constrain to the last two columns--customer name and customer, so that I get the customer name and customer fields filled up when I selected customer number.
Here are the details:
'Column' 'operator' 'control' 'show'(constrain) 'default to' 'set variable' 'label'
'Full Date' 'is between' 'calendar' 'unchecked constrain' 'specific value' --- 'Period'
'Customer Number' 'is equal to/is in' 'multi-select' 'all values' 'specific value' -- 'Customer #'
'Customer Name' 'is equal to/is in' 'multi-select' 'all values/Constrain' 'Report Defaults' -- 'Customer Name'
'Customer Name))' 'is equal to/is in' 'multi-select' 'all values/Constrain' 'Report Defaults' -- 'Customer'
Since date/customer number is default to specific value, on the dashboard, I click on Customer Name and/or Customer and it shows 'No Choices Available.'I see the same behavior even if I change the full date and Customer Number.
I tried the following after looking for this online.
1) Click OK in the Customer Name multi select box.
OR
2) Enter some value in the box and click GO in the CUstomer Name multi select box.
OR
3) Select Constrain (which I am already doing).
None of the mentioned above worked for me.

  • Date field in Dashboard Prompt

    Hi,
Still try to find how I can format date in dashboard prompt.
I have created prompt for Invoice cleared date using calendar format in control.
After pressing go button the format is changed to MM/DD/YYYY HH:MI:SS
I want format should always remain to MM/DD/YYYY.
Please let me the easy way to correct this issue.
    Thanks,
    Poojak

Yikes! I think you may have found a bug...
Seeing your screen shots, I was able to recreate your issue. I tried modifying the database connection feature tab to set a default datetime format, as well as changing the datetime format in the NQSconfig.ini file. Looking at the source code of the OBIEE page, it appears that there is Java script called GFPDoFilters that runs once you click the button (see "onclick" in the source code below). This function seems to be called in ..\OracleBI\web\app\res\b_mozilla\prompts\globalfilterprompt.js.
If you know java script, you can try and play around in there to find where the date is defaulting to, although I'm no java script expert, and messing with core code can potentially void your OBIEE warranties.
You may want to log this as a bug with Metalink and see how they respond to it. I agree with you that it does not make sense to have a timestamp added to a calendar day selector, so hopefully they would look into resolving for the next release.
I'm sorry I wasn't able to provide the response you were looking for, but I think it may be the unfortunate reality.
Please let me know if there is anything else I can do, and good luck!

RaviHey, Ravi. I see that you responded to the unanswered questions. Thanks. Since you did, there is no need to point out which ones. My point is simply that we all use this forum with the attitude of gratefulness, meaning, when we receive help, it is someone taking time out to do it... for free. Thank you for your prompt response! Here's my solution for what you are trying to achieve:
    1) Keep your multi-select prompt for your States and the one for your "National" prompt.
    2) Now build a small report on your using the States column and a dummy column set to RCOUNT(1).
    3) Put a filter on the RCOUNT column "greater than" 2 and an "Is Prompted" filter on the states column.
What this report will do is return rows when the number of selections from the multi-select prompt is 2 or less. It will return no rows if more than two states are selected. (If you insist on 2 states for comparions, set the filter operand to "equal to/is in.")
    4) In your Dashboard, put a section in it along with the main report.
    5) Click on Section Properties>Guided Navigation and point to the small report, to display the section when "the request returns rows."
    6) Put another Section in the Dashboard and add a Text Object.
    7) Again, click on Section Properties>Guided Navigation and point to the small report, but this time, "when the request returns no rows."
    8) In the Text object, enter something like, "To properly view this report, you must select only two(2) states in the multi-select prompt. Please try again."
There you go. If the user selects more than two states, the report section will be hidden and the text will appear instructing the user to "try again." When the user selects only two states, the report will display properly.

  • Issue with presentation variables, dashboard prompt and filter

    Dear Guru's,
I have a question about constraining a request with presentation variable set by a dashboard prompt. I have a dashboard prompt, that stores its value in a presentation variable . The prompt is about region. When the dashboard opens, the default of the prompt is all choices and it needs to show my reports with "All Choices". I've created the following filter on my two reports on the dashboard:
    "Dim Student"."Region" = '@{variables.GILLES}'
    or '@{variables.GILLES}' IS NULL
One report is just the column "Dim Student"."Region" (to see if it works) and with this report the above filter works just fine. When nothing is prompted it shows "All Choices" when a choice is made the report responds accordingly.
    BUT
The second report on my dash with the same region column, but extended with some time dimension columns and a measure gives an error which I'm not able to solve.
+State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. While the exact same report but without the "or '@{variables.GILLES}' IS NULL" doesn't throw any errors but doesn't show the "all choices" by default.
The ultimate goal to achieve is to build a dashboard with several reports from several subject areas with one single prompt that opens default with "all choices" and constrains the reports accordingly.
    Any help is highly appreciated.
    Kind Regards,
    Gilles

    Phani,
I know "All Choices" is a special value and that it doesn't represent NULL. My filter construction seems to work fine.
    My filter condition:
    "Dim Student"."Region" = '@{variables.GILLES}'
    or '@{variables.GILLES}' IS NULL
When it's set by the prompt it filters the request accordingly (first condition evaluates to true), when it's not set the second condition evaluates to true and shows all the results (or it's not filtered).
The problem is that it doesn't work when time dimensions are combined with this filter. Then it throws the error mentioned in the first post.
By the way: your suggested solution doesn't work.

  • NULL and Unspecified in Dashboard prompts after upgrading 10g to 11g OBIEE

    Hi All,
We are working on OBI upgradation project from 10g to 11.1.1.6.5. We are facing one issue in Dashboard prompt level. If we can create Dashboard prompt on a column, its giving "NULL", "Unspecified" additionally. But, in 10g there are no extra values.
And the 10g, 11g instances are pointing to the same database and there are no NULL, Unspecified values in Database level.
Through some blogs and articles we found some solutions n are below.
    To remove NULL:
-->Go to the Physical Column properties in Physical Layer and Disable the Nullable option by uncheck the box.
-->Go to the Database Features in Physical Layer and disable value to NULL_SUPPORTED.
-->Go to Edit Dashboard Prompt, in Choice List Values drop-down list select SQL Results.
    To remove Unspecified:
-->Go to Edit Dashboard Prompt, in Choice List Values drop-down list select SQL Results, then write the SQL statements as columnname is not equals to "Unspecfied" ( In this way we can able to remove Null's also.)
-->Go to Content tab of LTS, in Where clause write an SQL query to restrict Unspecified values.
Note: CHeck with ETL, because if they maintains the Default value is Null when the Datatype is Character and they can maintain 9999 or #### if the datatype is Numeric. And check the Physical query and debug it carefully.
But, we have very big Repository and we have huge no.of Dashboard prompts. So, its not an easy thing to manage by using above solutions. Correct me if there are any mistakes in above.
    Any ideas on this...?
    Appreciate your help on this..!
    Thanks in Advance,
    Raghu Nagadasari

    Hi Frnds,
As of now, i found the only solution for the above mentioned issue that how to avoid NULL in dashboard prompt level:
Go to the Physical Column properties in Physical Layer and Disable the Nullable option by uncheck the box.
We have done this manually for all tables.
Appreciate if u have any other ideas.!!
    Thanks,

  • Error while creating presentation variable in Dashboard prompts.

    Hi Team
I have been going through the guidelines and procedures to create a presentation variable to use it in the dashboard prompt ( mentioned in the previous blogs ) .I followed the below link :
    http://oraclebi.blog.com/example-of-presentation-variable-in-obiee/
I am using the following query :
    ========================================================
SELECT case when 1=0 then "D2 Market"."M04 Region"

    end
    FROM "Sample Sales"
    UNION ALL
select case when 1=0 then "D2 Market"."M04 Region"
    else 2
    end
    FROM "Sample Sales"
    =========================================================
I just wanted to create 2 dummy choices i.e 1 and 2 .But while soing so I am getting erros in the case statements :

Please suggest and let me know if there is any other method to have 2 chioces in drop down i.e 1 and 2 using SQL statements while creating the dashboard prompts.
    Thanks

    Hi Rachit
You answered my doubt. This one really works . Thanks a lot !
But i have one more doubt i.e if have created the Presentation variable in the dashboard prompt and I want to use it in a report
i.e the scenario is If I have created a new column i.e " Revised Salary " in the Presentation Services and want the values to be entered there dynamically upon end users choice. For ex the end user selecrts value of 1 then the report would display an increament of 500 to all the employees in the " Revised Salary " column and if the end user select value of 2 .. the report would display a decrement of 500 in the " Revised salary column".
I am getting the following error :
    ========================================================================
    Error Codes: OPR4ONWY:U9IM8TAC:OI2DL65P

    ========================================================================
Please NOTE : The column on which I want to do an increament is : "F1 Revenue"."1-01 Revenue (Sum All)"

  • Can we use Evaluate Function in Dashboard Prompt

    Hi
    Can anybody tell me
Can we use Evaluate Function in Dashboard Prompt.
    If yes...How
    Thanks in Adv

    Yes ! You Can!
while creating the dashboard prompt, under "Show" pick SQL results and you write the SQL statement and include the EVALUATE function.
I have several such examples. Most of of dashboard pages are parameter driven.
    1. 1st paratmeter - users specify the dates
    2. 2nd parameter - constrains the results for the period specified in 1st paramter and my SQL for 2nd paramter looks like this -
    SELECT table1.column1
    FROM table, datedim1, table1,table2
    WHERE datedim1.date BETWEEN EVALUATE( 'TO_DATE(%1,%2)','@{presentation variable1}','dd/mm/yyyy') AND EVALUATE('TO_DATE(%1,%2)', '@{presentation variable 2}','dd/mm/yyyy')

  • How to use action links or master-detail event in dashboard prompts?

    Hi,
I am new to OBIEE 11g. I have created three reports 1.Daily Data Report, 2.Weekly Data Report 3. Monthly Data Report.
I have created one dashboard prompt in which I have specified choices as Daily, Weekly and Hourly.
My requirement is that when I select the choice as 'Daily' I should get Daily Data report below Dashboard prompt.
When I select the choice as 'Weekly' I should get Weekly Data report below Dashboard prompt
and when I select the choice as 'Monthly' I should get Monthly Data report below Dashboard prompt.
How this can be achieved in OBIEE 11g?

    Hi,
What you do is just put this 3 different reports in 3 different dashboard sections and in section condition assign a condition based on presentation variable so that when u select weekly in the prompt only the weekly section condition should be true and other 2 section conditions should be false, in that case only the true section condition will display and false conditions will hidden.
Try implement this u will definetly can achieve the result.
Note: Create Variable prompt for this as best practice
    Revert for any queries.

  • Row limit in Dashboard Prompts - OBIEE 11g?

    Hi,
In dashboard prompts values are shown as sets of 256 and I know it can be customizable but my question is..."Is there any limit on records to extract as we have it in Analysis"? If yes, what is the max limit and where to configure this?
    Thanks in advance.

Hi Nagireddy, thanks for your reply.
Is there any limit of values to extract in Dashboard prompt? i.e. when you use drop down list as Dashboard prompt, is there any limit of values to extract from database?
In my local environment (instanceconfig.xml), there is limit of Rows to View and Download set to 20K, however I did not see anything related to the Dashboard Prompt.

  • How  to get the value of multi-select in the   Dashboard Prompt

I have a multi-select prompt in the Dashboard Prompt,  what I want is,   how do I know that user has choose one value,
for examle,  for some reasons,  if user didn't choose any value,  then I will set one column in answer as "customer office" , if user choose one value, then the column in answer will be "customer name".
    any comments, thanks.

    Hi,
first define the presentation variable for the required column prompt. ex: PV
Then in report level set the filter for that column = @{PV}{customer office}. here u have to give default value as "customer office", so by default the report in dashboard will show customer office even though the user does not select any value from dashboard prompt.
    Mark If Helpful/correct.
    Thanks.

  • Need to store variables from multi-select in Dashboard Prompt.

I am using a Dashboard Prompt with a Drop-down List Control. The user selected value from this Drop-down List Control is stored in a Presentation Variable.
I would like to use a Multi-Select Prompt and store all multi-select values in a variable string. I have read that is not possible to use Presentation Variables with a Multi-Select Prompt.
Does anyone have a workaround for this?

  • Issue in Dashboard Prompt of OBIEE 11g

    Hi,
I had recently migrated from OBIEE 10g to OBIEE 11g.
I had found that there are lot of things which were working on OBIEE 10g are not working in OBIEE 11g.
    For Eg:
I have scenario where i have 2 dashboards with different dashboard prompts.
    - *1st Dashboard*: I have prompt with 4 columns Year, Month, Qtr and Week. I can filter the data based on the selection of prompt.i.e Summary Report showing all KPIs and when clicked on the any of the KPI it goes to Below report which shows the graphical view of past weeks data.
    - Report: Here i show all the week Ids in the Graph format and when clicked on the any week id it navigates to 2nd Dashboard(below) with appropriate week populated in the prompt and show the detailed records.
    - *2nd Dashboard*: I have prompt with 5 columns Year, Month, Qtr, Week and Day of the Week with some detailed report. Here the only Week Id should be pre populated and show data based on the week id selection in the above report.
The issue here in OBIEE 11g is, The month Id which was selected in 1st Dashboard prompt is also getting pre populated into the 2nd dashboard prompt. Which should not happen.
Note: This was working fine in OBIEE 10g.
Is there any way to fix this issue in OBIEE 11g.
    Regards
    Shyam

    Hi Bala,
    Thank you for your response.
I had tried that and resolved my problem but it was impacting other reports i.e
I have other reports in 1st Dashboard with different tabs, Here i want the prompt value to be persisted across the reports in same dashboard so that when i go to other tab with in same dashboard the prompt value should be pre-populated and the data should be filtered against that.
Now if i change the scope to page then i will be loosing this functionality.
It was working on OBIEE 10g and i lost this after migrating to OBIEE 11g.
Can you please help me in this regard.

  • Issue filtering a report (based on narrative view) with a dashboard prompt.

I used HTML and java-script codes in narrative view to solve the issue of "linking different reports on selecting values from a drop-down". A new issue has cropped up due to that implementation. The issue is that i can't attach a dashboard prompt to such a report. This means, when i put this report on a dashboard page with a dashboard prompt to help filter the report, the report does not gets filtered (it does not seems to be connected to the dashboard prompt).
Has anyone faced this issue before? If yes, please let me know how to tackle it at the earliest.
