Can we have some one (Adobe Guru's or Adobe Employees) please have a look at the "Data Services" forum?

My evaluation and testing of the FlashBuilder 4 beta 2 is stopped because there are so many questions that have not been answered. To be clear:
- I desperately need an alternative to the Micro$oft "vendor lock in" (front end, middleware, backend)
- Adobe is a recognized name in the I.T. world. (My biggest opponents to change are the I.T. guys & gals)
- I need to do some heavy duty "convincing" by SHOWING customers and their trusted I.T. crowd that there is a viable alternative
- I can't show them if your product doesnt' work
- Plan B is to show them that even though your product doesn't work, your support is responsive, and bugs will be fixed next release, and that there is a work around for now
- There is no Plan C if the previous two points aren't resolved
This forum seems really busy compared to Data Services forum. That forum is dead. Very few views and 98% unanswered questions.
Should I re-post all my questions in this forum? In an attempt to get some help?

A few thoughts...
These forums are user / customer forums. They are not an official Adobe support channel. Did you read the disclaimer on the first page that said "Forums ... are an alternative to Adobe’s official customer support channels"? ( http://forums.adobe.com/index.jspa ).
To say that Adobe support sucks because questions were not answered on these forums is the wrong conclusion. Adobe support may suck, but these forums are not an indication of that.
If your questions are Flex related, feel free to repost them to this board, though. I imagine that there are just more people using Flex than their are LiveCycle or BlazeDS.

DataArchitect\DM includes Shell/Core*, XML, PDM, LDM
DataArchitect\RE includes Shell/Core*, XML, PDM, LDM, Repository
Information Architect includes Shell/Core*, XML, PDM, LDM, Repository, DMM, CDM, BPM
EnterpriseArchitect includes Shell/Core*, XML, PDM, LDM, Repository, DMM, CDM, BPM, OOM, EAM, EA Frameworks
** Shell & Core includes UI, Gap and Impact Analysis Tools, Reporting Tools, RQM, Free Model, and other common components
There exists different modeling features you can use in each of packages in PowerDesigner 16.
If you want to use a repository for storing models and sharing them with other modelers, you should have at least DataArchitect/RE option.
And, If you should use OOM, then it is required that you have the EnterpriseArchitect option.

Data guard forum

Hello everybody !
Yesterday I noticed that my standby server was behind the prduction one.
In the error log I noticed:
ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [kcbr_apply_change_11], [], [], [], [], [], [], [], [], [], [], []
then
MRP0: Background Media Recovery terminated with error 448
Recovered data files to a consistent state at change 286116915
This error happens in sequence: Recovery of Online Redo Log: Thread 1 Group 4 Seq 8830 Reading mem 0
I found this archive log in standby and it is same size as in the production one.
Anybody can help me please?

You have to use Error lookup tool to investigate Internal errors. *ORA-600/ORA-7445/ORA-700 Error Look-up Tool [ID 153788.1]*
Version of database is very important, you can take a look this note +Managed Recovery fails with ORA-00600:[kcbr_apply_change_11] [ID 1318733.1]+
Can you perform clean shutdown and start with recovery your standby database Again, If any errors from alert log file during startup, Please post here.

if your forums have a service endpoint, rss or other xml output then yes of course.
Flex can also read html, though its better to use a web service.

How can I architect my data layer to yield query result pages to the application as SQL Server prepares them?

I tried to make the question as explicit as possible.
Refer to Sql Server Management Studio's Results view. Depending upon the structure of the execution plan, the Results pane may begin displaying results while the query is still executing. Can someone point me in a direction for architecting a
data layer (I am tech and framework agnostic for this task. Any solution will suffice) that will begin receiving pages of the set before SQL Server has completed the entire query?
The call from the data layer to SQL Server will obviously have to be asynchronous, but is there any additional ceremony that I need to be aware of when issuing OPTION (FAST x) to the query optimizer?

I would imagine you cannot ORDER BY and yield results as they are fetched because of the execution plan that would be generated. For the purposes of this post, please assume that sorting will be done purely client side

and also assume that you have "lots" of columns to display.
This was an exploratory question to see what would be necessary to replicate the behavior of Management Studio's Query Result view in a custom application.
I would imagine that there's going to be a lot of analysis of the execution plans that get generated in order for the OPTION (FAST x) optimizer hint to do any good, but apart from general tuning concerns that would allow SQL SERVER to yield a page of data

LiveCycle and Excel Data

I am relatively new to LiveCycle and I have looked across the forums but haven't found solid answers to what I am trying to do therefore I was wondering if someone is able to answer my questions:
1. Can you setup a LiveCycle for so that it will read from a set of Excel data files (or converted CSV/XML files) at the time you launch the PDF with a LiveCycle form in it. We intend to create Graphs and Charts from the data and wanted it so that for these to be updated, all that needs to happen is that the data files are overwritten with a new set of data. Can LiveCycle do this, or does the data get embedded in the PDF at the time that the PDF file is published??
2. Could you put the PDF onto Microsoft Sharepoint and have the data files in a document library and then have the PDF form read the data from these files within the document library?

Are you saying publish the PDFs using a LiveCycle server? I know you can use LiveCycle server to initiate workflows that would include what you are asking but I have no experience in this.
I use VB.net with an iTextSharp plugin to deploy all our forms. It takes the PDF and imports XML generated by our data architect from a shared drive to generate many PDFs into a production environment.

OC4J: marshalling does not recreate the same data structure onthe client

Hi guys,
I am trying to use OC4J as an EJB container and have come across the following problem, which looks like a bug.
I have a value object method that returns an instance of ArrayList with references to other value objects of the same class. The value objects have references to other value objects. When this structure is marshalled across the network, we expect it to be recreated as is but that does not happen and instead objects get duplicated.
Suppose we have 2 value objects: ValueObject1 and ValueObject2. ValueObject1 references ValueObject2 via its private field and the ValueObject2 references ValueObject1. Both value objects are returned by our method in an ArrayList structure. Here is how it will look like (number after @ represents an address in memory):

We would expect to see the same (except exact addresses) after marshalling. Here is what we get instead:

It can be seen that objects get unnecessarily duplicated â“ the instance of the ValueObject1 referenced by the ValueObject2 is not the same now as the instance that is referenced by the ArrayList instance.
This does not only break referential integrity, structure and consistency of the data but dramatically increases the amount of information sent across the network. The problem was discovered when we found that a relatively small but complicated structure that gets serialized into a 142kb file requires about 20Mb of network communication. All this extra info is duplicated object instances.
I have created a small test case to demonstrate the problem and let you reproduce it.

The parameters you might be interested in playing with are HARDCODE_SERIALISATION and TEST_SIZE defined at the beginning of RMITestApplication.java. The HARDCODE_SERIALISATION is a flag that specifies whether Java serialisation should be used to pass the data across or we should rely on OC4J marshalling. TEST_SIZE defines the size of the object graph and the ArrayList structure. The bigger this size is the more dramatic effect you get from data duplication.
The test case outputs the structure both on the server and on the client and prints out the size of the serialised structure. That gives us sufficient comparison, as both structure and its size should be the same on the client and on the server.
The test case also demonstrates that the problem is specific to OC4J. The standard Java serialisation does not suffer the same flaw. However using the standard serialisation the way I did in the test case code is generally unacceptable as it breaks the transparency benefit and complicates interfaces.
To run the test case:
1) Modify provider URL parameter value on line 15 of the RMITestApplication.java for your environment.
2) Deploy the bean to the server.
4) Run RMITestApplication on a client PC.
5) Compare the outputs on the server and on the client.
I hope someone can reproduce the problem and give their opinion, and possibly point to the solution if there is one at the moment.

Each recovery point has users permisions tied to it, so it's not possible to retroacively give the users permissions. Implement the below and going forward all users can restore their own files.
This is a hands off solution to allow all users that use a machine to be able to restore their own files.
1) Make these two cmd files and save them in c:\temp
2) Using windows scheduler – schedule addperms.cmd to run daily – any new users that log onto the machine will automatically be able to restore their own files.

Is there a product for Data Federator 4.0 or is it delivered as Information Design Tool in BI 4.0? Is there an upgrade path for Data Federator 3.1?
