Data flow between R/3 AND APO

How the chars and Navigational attributes are flowing in-between the R/3 AND APO ?
Why we need to maintain the chars and nav attrr in APO? . Any input will be highly appreciated
Thanks

Hello Nick,
Navigational Attributes : Characteristic attributes can be converted into navigation attributes. They can be selected in the query in exactly the same way as the characteristics for an InfoCube. In simple words an attribute is a characteristic that is logically assigned and subordinated to another characteristic. Navigational attributes offer a way to plan multiple objects while achieving optimum system performance in Demand Planning.
e.g. Costs of the cost center drilled down by person responsible: You use the attribute u2018Cost Center Manageru2019 for the characteristic u2018Cost Centeru2019. If you want to navigate in the query using the cost center manager, you have to create the attribute u2018Cost Center Manageru2019 as a navigation attribute, and flag it as a navigation characteristic in the InfoCube.
Characteristics : A planning object such as a product, location, brand or region.
The master data of Demand Planning or Supply Network Planning encompasses the permitted values of the characteristics, the characteristic values. Characteristic values are discrete names or numbers . For example, the characteristic 'location' could have the values London, Delhi and New York.

    Hello.....
    I'm not able to log into Windows Server 2008 r2 server thorugh Remote Desktop connection, receiving below error message.
    This issue is with only three servers in the environment
    "Remote Desktop cannot verify the identity of the computer because there is a time or date diffrence between your computer and remote computer......"
    The date/time is correct on the server when i checked in the console session of the server

    "Name resolution for the name XYZdomain.com timed out after none of the configured DNS servers responded."
    Event ID 1053:
    The processing of Group Policy failed. Windows could not resolve the user name. This could be caused by one of more of the following:
    a) Name Resolution failure on the current domain controller.
    b) Active Directory Replication Latency (an account created on another domain controller has not replicated to the current domain controller).

    Many thanks for any advice.

    You don't need conversion programs, iTunes can copy most of your content over to the iPad via the file sharing section, and some apps also support Dropbox, email attachments, transfer via your wifi network. There are a number of apps that you can get that support Microsoft office file (microsoft don't make an app versions of their software) e.g. from Apple there are Pages (word support), Numbers (excel) and Keynote (powerpoint), and from third-parties there are apps such as Documents To Go and QuickOffice HD

  • Issue with Data flow between Unicode and Non Unicode systems

    Hello,
    I have scenario as below,
    We have  a Unicode – ECC 6.0 and a UTF 7 – Legacy system.
    A message flow between Legacy system to ECC 6.0 system and the data is of 700 KB size.
    Will there be any issue in this as one is Unicode and other is non Unicode?
    Kindly let me know.
    Thanks & Regards
    Vivek

    Hi,
    To add to Mike's post...
    You indicate that your legacy system is non-Unicode and the ERP system is Unicode.  You also said that the data flow is only <i>from</i> the legacy system <i>to</i> the ERP system.  In this case, you should have no data issues, since the Unicode system is the receiving system.  There <b>are</b> data issues when the data flow is in the other direction: <i>from</i> a Unicode system <i>to</i> a non-Unicode system.  Here, the non-Unicode system can only process characters that exist on its codepage and care must be taken from sending systems to ensure that they only send characters that are on the receiving system's codepage (as Mike says above).
    Best Regards,
    Matt

  • Data flow in R/3 and CRM

    Hi experts
    I am bit confused about the data flow in source systems moving to Delta queue even though i know bits and pices but not able to relate and keep them in order.
    First Scenario- R/3
    When we save a transaction or create a sales order by V1 it will go to Database tables and then through V1 it will reach the Extraction queue or Update tables based on the delta method we select or else if direct delta it will go directly to the Delta queue which is nothing but QRFCOUT AND ARFCQUEUE tables.
    in SM53 we can check the transfer of data records from this delta queue to BW.
    Is my understanding right on the R/3.
    Second scenario- CRM
    when we save a transaction lets take an example of Activity creation how does this pass to Delta queue and to the Database tables and is their a intermidate place where we can check the data in between the Transaction creation and till the Delta Queue of CRM.
    thanks and regards
    Neel

    Hi Rahul,
    Execute Transaction: CRMC_R3_ORG_GENERATE

  • Data sync between exchange 2003 and exchange 2013

    Need assistance on a general direction.
    There is a 2003 domain with exchange 2003 currently in use. On this domain there is also a contact management application that is heavily integrated and cannot be update at this time.  I would like to bring up a new 2013 exchange server.
    Is there a method that I could have user data synchronized between the 2013 exchange data and the 2003 exchange? In this manner users could use the 2013 exchange as primary and the Contact manage application could use the sync copy of exchange 2003. For
    now I am only concerned about he the calendar however I am sure the other information will need to be sync as well.
    Please let me know.  Thank you.

    Hi There,
    Once you install Exchange 2013 it will use the same data your Exchange 2003 is using \ seeing because both of them use Active directory for Directory information.
    Exchange 2013 will see all the users that are 2003 without you needing to sync \ move data.
    If you need to users to be on Exchange 2013 and keep Exchange 2003 all you need to do is move the mailboxes to Exchange 2013.

  • Inconsistent date formats between Rich Client and HTML client

    Hey All,
    Just wondering if anyone has come across an issue with inconsistent date formats from a universe based on an MS SSAS 2012 database connection in 4.x?
    The value of the date is returned as a string from the query but the object data type has been changed to a Date object meaning BusinessObjects should convert the string into a date if the format is correct.
    The problem in this is that the date being returned in Rich Client is in dd/MM/yyyy format whereas on the Web Client is in MM/dd/yyyy.
    From the Web Client business objects will return a date, however, it is a mix of MDY and DMY format.
    i.e. 15th of March will be displayed as 15/03/2014
    whereas 12th of March will be displayed as 03/12/2014
    All our application servers are configured for English (Australian) regional settings meaning all dates should be in DMY format.
    The date in the database is stored as a non-ambiguous yyyy-mm-dd format so it appears the variation is occurring somewhere between the database and BusinessObjects for the Web Client based reports only.
    I have also checked the sqlsrv.prm file based format and changed this to DMY but this has also not made a difference.
    The same universe in 3.1 and MS SSAS 2008 works correctly but not this one.

    Hi
    The date in the database is stored as yyyy-mm-dd format.
    As per user request.... Set the date format @ the Business layer level. so it will refelct same as in the WebI.
    Please find the below link. how to use custom Display option.

  • Creating a Web Service to handle flow between BPEL process and XML Gateway

    I am new to Web Services. I have never created one, yet I have the task of designing the following for a project.
    Any help as to what steps I need to take would be very very helpful. There is a lot of information on XML, SOA and WSDL out there that it can get very confusing, and sometimes you just need someone to point the way
    What I need to do is create a Custom Send and a Custom Receive Program (both web services) handle the message flow between an Enterprise BPEL processes and a Deployed XML Gateway.
    BPEL compresses this XML business object document (for faster transmission), and sends remotely to this Custom Receive web service, which in turn calls a decompress java program and then send the document to the XML gateway inbound web service.
    The Custom Send web service does just the opposite. It needs to take the business object document from XML gateway, call the compress java program and then send to the Enterprise BPEL.
    In a nutshell...these Custom Send/Receive Web services handle the message flow between the Enterprise BPEL process and the Deployed XML Gateway.
    What I need help on...
    -Creating this in JDeveloper- where do I get started?
    -How does a web service receive a compressed file sent to me via BPEL? Does it just sit there waiting for it?
    -Is this a synchronous or asynchronous design?
    -Will this be 2 web services (Send and Receive) or do I make 1 with 2 functionalities
    -How do I call the java compress/decompress program within the web service? (this java function is already created and ready to be called)
    -Is this decompressed business object file an XML schema and an XML message? Or just a message?
    -I need to send this to the XML Gateway Web Service to load. How does that work?
    -I have a Generic XML Gateway WSDL file...I assume I need to take all the info I get and map it to this template? Is this true? How do I do that?
    Like I said, any help would be appreciated. Links answers to my many questions would be fabulous.
    -Jason

    If you are talking about simple XML transformation of the SOAP payload between the client calling your service and the final destination of the message you are routing, the ESB approach may be a better fit.
    If you have more complex transformation in mind, with major processing and rework of the message in the intermediary, you may be better of with using the POJO approach. Write your service and embed a callout to the other service in your implementation. If the two services share the same Java Model, you may even be able to re-use the same Java Bean.
    To get SOAP Element instead of Java bean, you just need to use the noDataBinding option with either genProxy and topDownAssemble (or assemble). See the WS-Guide [1] for details. Chapter 18 will give you all the details about the different WSA command line parameters.
    Hope this helps,
    -Eric

  • VPD date issue between 10.1 and 10.2 databases

    I have uncovered an issue today with VPD against date fields. The issue came up at a client site on a 10.2 database. When I got back to the hotel and tried this on my own database, which is 10.1, I got no issue and everything worked ok.
    Therefore, I am asking if anyone is able to try out the following for me on different Oracle databases and platforms and let me know whether it worked for you or not. I'd like to compile a list of database versions and platforms on which the issue occurs.
    Step 1: create this table as a user
    CREATE TABLE TST_DATE AS (
    SELECT 1 PERSON_UID,
    Trunc(SYSDATE) BIRTH_DATE,
    To_Char(Trunc(SYSDATE), 'DD-MON-YYYY') CHAR_DATE,
    123456 TAX_ID,
    'Smith, Michael B.' FULL_NAME FROM dual);
    Step 2: grant select rights on the table
    GRANT SELECT ON TST_DATE TO PUBLIC;
    Step 3: switch your login to SYS and run this script:
    CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION F_CHECK_ITEM_TST(p_object_schema in varchar2, p_object_name varchar2)
    RETURN VARCHAR2 IS
    V_PREDICATE VARCHAR2(2000) := '1 = 2';
    BEGIN
    RETURN(V_PREDICATE);
    END F_CHECK_ITEM_TST;
    Step 4: As SYS, run this to grant access rights over the function
    GRANT EXECUTE ON F_CHECK_ITEM_TST TO PUBLIC;
    Step 5: As SYS, run this to enable the policy
    BEGIN DBMS_RLS.ADD_POLICY(
    OBJECT_SCHEMA => 'DRAKE',
    OBJECT_NAME => 'TST_DATE',
    POLICY_NAME => 'SecByTST',
    FUNCTION_SCHEMA => 'SYS',
    POLICY_FUNCTION => 'F_CHECK_ITEM_TST',
    STATEMENT_TYPES => 'SELECT',
    POLICY_TYPE => DBMS_RLS.DYNAMIC,
    SEC_RELEVANT_COLS => 'BIRTH_DATE',
    SEC_RELEVANT_COLS_OPT => DBMS_RLS.ALL_ROWS);
    END;
    Note: in the above policy change the OBJECT_SCHEMA name to be the name of the user who owns the table you created in Step 1
    Step 6: Go into Discoverer Admin and import the table as a new folder.
    Be sure to uncheck the "Date hierarchies" box and set "Default aggregate on data points" to detail. Grant access to any user.
    Step 7: Using Desktop or Plus, log in as that user then try to query the folder with the date not included, there should be no problem.
    Step 8: Now try to query with the date included
    On my 10.2 database I get ORA-24334: no descriptor for this position. This happens when logged into Discoverer as the table owner, EUL owner or any other user. However, when logged into Discoverer as SYS which is exempt from all VPD policies, there is no error when the date is included.
    We tried this in Discoverer Desktop, Plus and Viewer with the same results in all three. We can successfully query the table from SQL*Plus, SQL Developer and TOAD.
    There also seems to be no issue at all with the 10.1 database so there seems to be an issue between Discoverer and the 10.2 database.
    What do you think?
    P.S. to cancel the policy use this script when logged in as SYS:
    EXEC DBMS_RLS.drop_policy(
    OBJECT_SCHEMA => 'DRAKE',
    OBJECT_NAME => 'TST_DATE',
    POLICY_NAME => 'SecByTST');
    This same information is available on my blog in a more readable format here:
    http://learndiscoverer.blogspot.com/2006/12/vpd-date-issue-between-101-and-102.html

    Hi Rod
    Well don't you just love Oracle. Obviously, whatever tests were done for certifying Discoverer against the 10.2 database did not include checking VPD policies. This merits a blog entry from me.
    Your workaround for V_PREDICATE VARCHAR2(2000) := 'BIRTH_DATE=TO_DATE(''01-JAN-0001'')'; works. However, I had to write a new function to do this because my real function was trapping about a dozen items at the same time, some dates, some numbers and some varchars - exactly the way that the Oracle example code shows it in the 10.2 database manual.
    So what I did was to create a new function that only handles dates and added a dedicated policy that works with only that function. Unfortuately, because I have many dates to manage, I was unabe to hard code the BIRTH_DATE so here is what I did:
    V_PREDICATE VARCHAR2(2000) := 'SYSDATE = TO_DATE(''01-JAN-0001'')';
    This works perfectly and Discoverer stopped complaining. It just has two policies on the same table for different data items. Isn't VPD cool? I'm hooked.
    I really appreciate your time and effort on this. Now, let's see what Oracle support make of the issue because I raised a service request last night. No reply yet I'm afraid.
    Best wishes
    Michael
