Data labels on pie chart

Hi,
I want both the series label and % value to display on my pie chart, but what i want is % value to be displayed inside pie slices and series label outside the pie slices, right now we have option to do either of the one
my Report Builder is 9.0.4.0.33
can anybody help me regarding this.
Thanks.

hello tammy,
i just created this request in the idea place
enhance pie chart data labels : View Idea
i was just thinking (yes, you should be afraid - smile)
it would make life much easier if there was a link in the forum message toolbar that linked to the submit idea form in the idea place and included the link for the message thread from here at the bottom of the request. that way the developers could also see what other people think about the issue. what do you think?

  • Labels in Pie Charts

    Hi,
I have two questions about the behavior of labels in pie charts:
    Question 1:
When I format pie chart labels as 'NameandValue', the result in the label pie chart always appears as 'Value' and then 'Name', how can I change this?
    Question 2:
I have several pie charts, that overlap labels, how can I customize charts in order for that never to occur?

In order to achieve that you will need to change the pcxml files controlling the pie chart (since the chart is actually produced by the Corda engine)
    They are in
    \\OracleBI\web\app\res\s_oracle10\popbin
    and for oc4j in:
    \\OracleBI\oc4j_bi\j2ee\home\applications\analytics\analytics\res\s_oracle10\popbin
I don't have all the variables available off the top of my head, but John posted a quite exhaustive list:

  • How to add more data point in Pie chart

The default data point for Pie chart is 5, how could I add more data  point, I notice that I can do assign the cell to the value under data in General tab property of chart pie, but, in the sample drill down, there is no value for that value, and it still has 6 data point.

    Hi DFW
The sample file has got the spreadsheet range missing thats all.  Just add the range you need to your pie chart.

  • How to dynamically display data labels in area chart

    Hello, everyone,
I have an stacked area chart with the data set as follows:
    Values: sales
    Category Group: date
    Series Group: products
Now I have an requirement to display the data labels in the chart for the top 3 products with the highest sales within a certain time period (based on the date parameter). E.g. product1 in the product 1 area, product 2 in the product 2 area, etc.
Is this possible? If so how do I go about doing it?
    Your help is much appreciated
    Kind regards

    Hi QQFA,
According to your description, you have a stacked area chart. Values is sales, Category  Group is date, and Series Group is product. Now you want to show only top 3 products which has the highest sales data labels for each date.
In SQL SERVER Reporting Service, we can achieve this goal by using expression in Series Label Properties setting. I have tested it on my local environment, you can follow these steps below:
    Create a new DataSet(name is “top3”).
Select use a embedded dataset in my report and put
          “ select * from(
          select Product,Sales,[Date],
ROW_NUMBER() over (partition by [Date] order by Sales desc) as rn
          from #temp)
          where rn<4 ”
        into Query.
Right Click on your chart, select “show Data Labels”.
Right Click on any label that just appeared, select Series Labels Properties .
Click the “fx” next to Label data textbox.
Type the expression below into Set expression for Label :
         “=IIF(InStr(Join(
         lookupset(Fields!Date.Value,Fields!Date.Value,Fields!Product.Value,
         "top3"),","),Fields!Product.Value)>0,Fields!Sales.Value,"")”
(Ps: the “lookupset” function is only supported  in SQL SERVER 2008 R2 or later)
    Click “OK”.
Save and preview the chart ,as shown here:
Now your chart will show you the top 3 highest sales product data labels in corresponding area.

  • Showing Data in A Pie chart

As part of a school wide intiative i must show pre and post test data in my classroom. I must be able to show how many studetns were proficient on the pre test and well as on the post test. I have my data all ready to go with each kids test score. How do i create a pie chart that show the percentage of students with a 85% or high?

    k,
Select the Data in your Table.
    Insert a Pie Chart.
Set the label display format option for "%" or "Number", as you wish.
    That should do it.
Generally the best place to start with charting is to sketch one, as you imagine what you want it to look like, and most importantly, write in some labels describing the chart. That helps you to think about how to construct the chart. Unless you know what it should look like, it's difficult to know what data to chart and what options to use.

  • Missing labels on pie charts

    Hi All,
We are making use of pie charts and noticed that sometimes the labels are not being displayed in the charts for certain fields. Upon hovering over the field, the relevant % and data series value are displayed correctly, so there are definitely no issues with data here. Was wondering if anybody has encountered this.. Any thoughts on why this could be happening?
    Thanks,
    Prachi

    Hi Prachi,
I think this is related to the size of the graph... If you make it a little bit bigger, you'll probably see the missing labels (at least that's what happened to me).
    Cheers,
    Cris

  • Data Lables in Pie Charts

Can we define data lables within a pie chart in OBIEE answers ? If so appreciate if you could let me know how this can be setup
    thanks!

If you want to change the names of a label which comes from an object, you must create a variable and change the values manually using the "where" or "If Then Else"...

  • Can't show data labels in pie graphs as decimal number if the crosstab data

I want to show my data labels in diagrams, as percent values, with three decimals.
It occurs (in version Oracle Business Intelligence Discoverer Plus 10g (10.1.2.55.26)) it is only possible if the data format of the crosstab data also shows data with decimals. If the data are in integer format, the graphs data labels can only be shown in integer as well.
Does anyone know how to fix the problem?
In version Oracle Business Intelligence Discoverer Plus 10g (10.1.2.48.18) we can have a crosstab showing integers and a pie graph showing labels of pie slices where the labels are in percent with three decimals. It seems it does not work in the newer version Oracle Business Intelligence Discoverer Plus 10g (10.1.2.55.26)
    Thanks in advance

It seems I have another similar problem in version Oracle Business Intelligence Discoverer Plus 10g (10.1.2.55.26):
I have a Bar (Percent) graph based on a crosstab where the data is formatted as number with two decimals.
The labels in the graph shows as number (0,76 instead of 76% and 0,13 instead of 13%). I want them to be shown in percent format.
The Data Label format is set to “Number” with two decimals. I can change the Data Labels to Percent with two decimals and then it shows the data labels in the graph exactly as I want it. But after I have saved the workbook and then opened it again the changes has been “revoked” and is once again set to number with two decimals instead of percent.
    thanks (again) in advance

  • Labels in pie charts overlap when the slice is very thin

    Hi,
I have Crystal Reports 2008 and I am using it to create some dynamic charts but in some cases (when the slice of the pie is really thin) the labels of the pie slices overlap. It is a customer's requirement to have labels (legends) on each slice and using the option "Auto-Arrange" doesn't work since the font becomes really tiny and the customer doesn't like it. Could anybody please help?
    Thanks a lot!

    Hi HariKan,
Per my understanding that the Category group of the pie chart which will retuen many values so that the label will overlapping and you want to know is any method to deal with this kind of problem, right?
In Reporting Services, when enabling data label in par charts, the position for data label only have two options: inside and outside.
In your scenario, I recommend you to increase the size of the pie chart if you insist to choose the lable inside the pie chart as below:
If you choose to "Enable 3D" in the chart area properties and choose to display the label outside, the label's layout will be more clear:

  • Unable to change Data label position in the Chart using Position from Properties

    Hi All,
I am trying add the Data label to the chart and the users want them to appear on the top of the stacked bars. By default when I enabled the data labels it showed up in the middle. When I tried to change the position by doing
    View --> Properties --> Position --> Top/Bottom/any of other 8 options   -- it does move a bit
I even tried deleting chart and recreating it.
What am I missing? Thanks in advance.

    Hi Ranjith_SQL,
According to your description that you have add the Data label on your stacked column chart  which by default display in the middle of the chart, you want them to appear on the top of the stacked column chart, right?
For a Stacked Column Chart, the data labels are always placed in the center of the Series bars. This is by design. I also  test it on my new version of SSRS 2014  and find have the same result.
If you really need the data label to display on the top, I recommend you to change the chart type to column chart which by default have the Data labels display at the top of the column:
You can also submit an wish at

  • Why can't I access the data when I right click my pie chart any longer?

I don't know what happened but I need to change some data in my pie chart but I nolonger get the data option when right-clicking the chart...

then I guess at some point it has been ungrouped, which makes it simply a collection of objects, rather than a graph. you're supposed to get this message when that happens. did you see this at any point? when did it stop being editable?

  • Pie Chart summarizing grid data

New to Flex.  Searched for a method to build a pie chart based on a column in the grid we've created.
    So Far:
The grid gets created based on info passed in a form.
I can get two pie charts to be created based on specific columns in the data.
The pie charts currently have 1 slice per row of data.
Am I missing an easy way to build a Pie Chart that summarizes this?
Instead of One Pie Slice per record, how do we get one pie slice per unique value in the data column?
    For instance:
a datagrid of   source IP | Dest IP | Dest Port | Action
I'd like a pie chart showing the percent of data per source IP.
Is there something built in to Flex to handle this?

    would it be:

      ipSummary[record.srcip] = (ipSummary[record.srcip] || 0) + 1;
    var pieData:Array = [];

    <mx:series>
      <mx:PieSeries id="pieact" displayName="Source IP" field="activityCount"/>

  • Pie Chart Only Displays the Data of the First Row of the Table

    Hi Experts,
I have a problem that the pie chart will not change when click on a second row or other rows on the table. It only displays the data of the first row of the table. How can I set up to make it reflect on any rows when I click the table? Please help, and I would very appreciate that.
    Thanks,
    -Don

Thanks a lot for your response. I have realized that the pie chart behaves that way, so I just use the filter to see the specific data that I want. Also, you can drag the row and drop it right at the first row to see the data in the pie chart.
