Data Lineage - DAC Subject Area

Hi All,
In the DAC OOTB repository, there is a Data Lineage Subject Area. By default it is inactive.
Its task names look very promising (indicating connections to OBI webcat, rpd, etc.), but I could not find any INFA workflows behind them.
Has anybody has an idea if there is any way of using it?
Any experience here?
Thanks!
Michal

I know about the data lineage documents on metalink3 and yes, they are useful.
The missing part however is the rpd/webcat metadata. Also some connections inside of DAC are not covered.
This subject area looks very promising, but does not have any Infa mappings behind.
Any other guesses? What is a purpose of it?
Michal

  • Need help in assembling DAC 'Subject Area':

    Hi There,
When I assemble a subject area:
I got a pop up window for 'Configuration Tags' with the following message:
The tasks belonging to the following Configuration Tags may be applicable
to assembling your subject area. If you want to associate these tags,
    press Cancel, otherwise press Continue.
For this message, should I say 'Continue' or 'Cancel'.
Also what happens when I say 'Continue' or 'Cancel'.?
    Thanks,
    Raghu

Hi, DAC Configuration Tag controls the inclusion of tasks in subject areas. Each Configuration Tag will have tasks associated for specific biapps requirement.
By Default BIAPPS OOTB Subject Areas will have Configurations tags associated and few will be in inactive state.
(Click on any DAC SubJect Area --> ConfigurationTag (in the bottom pane) to verify which Configuration Tags are associated )
    1. This message is just a reminder that DAC tells you, there are few other tasks that can be included in the Subject Area and here are the Configuration Tags associated to these tasks. In case if you forget adding them hit 'Cancel', add it and then Assemble again
    2. In all other cases if you don't need to add these Configuration Tags you can hit Continue to complete assembling the Subject Area
It all depends on the requirement and which tasks you need to include or exclude from specific Subject Area.
Before Assembling verify if you need to include any Configuration Tag , activate it and then hit Assemble.
Eg: In BIApps Configuration topic : To Reload the Time Dimension Tables After the Data Warehouse Is Loaded
    1. To extend the Day Dimension, you should include configuration tag named *'Extend Day Dimension Multiple Calendar Support.'* which adds additional specific tasks . Then assemble the Subject Area
    Hope This helps !

  • DAC subject areas won't assembled.

I’ve run across a situation where I am trying to run in DAC both EBS and provided by third-party jobs in the same environment. It appears that provided by third-party vendor container is keeping the other containers subject areas from being able to be assembled.
I’ve deleted containers one at a time, imported one at a time, created new containers, new subject areas and so far nothing I do seems to clear this up.
When I install the Enterprise Container first, it is able to assemble, but after I import provided by the third-party container I am no longer able to assemble the Enterprise Container Subject Areas. Provided by the third-party Subject Areas assemble fine and execution plans run. Just can’t get the Enterprise one in a state where it will run.
Please share any thoughts on the possible cause and solution.
    Thank you very much!

Thank you for getting back to me. Yes by third-party container i realy mean non-Oracle container. There is no error, it just won't complete the process. I've tried to kill DAC pracess and to start over - made no difference.

  • Chart with data from different subject area

What I want to draw in a single chart is the following (I made this up just to show my requirement)
-The number of accounts by month (a line chart)
-The number of activities by month (bar chart)
Not all accounts necessary have any activity in a month.
In excel I can have two data streams and I can use two Y-axis to present the two different data streams (# of accounts, # of activities). Is it possible to do this in Analytics? I look at the chart setup. It seems there is only one Y-axis. Is that the case?

You can have 2 Y axis. Try the 3d charting mechanism and you may want to try a chart from a pivot stand point.

  • List of Dimensions by Subject Area

    Hi
How do i find the list of available Dimensions by subject area, for example - Project analytics.
    Thanks

    Hi,
What do you mean by Subject Area?
    1. OBI Presentation Layer Subject Area:
Then you can use "Display Related" functionality of OBI repository - it will list all the physical/logical objects for each subject are
    2. DAC Subject Area
Then you can use either DB scripts in the DAC metadata schema or easier refer to metalink Data Lineage document for the version of OBIA that you are using.
    Hope it helps,

  • Multiple Subject Areas

Somewhat new so please forgive me if the question is simple (if it is, please point me in the right direction). I've looked through the documentation and this forum, but have not found what I'm looking for yet.
I am trying to get a single worksheet to pull data from multiple subject areas (two or more fact tables). I would prefer to not join fact tables together, and so I have not created the joins between the folders (fact tables) because I thought the performance would generally be horrible. (example of functionality I'm looking for: I want to combine Sales and Inventory data on one worksheet).
I have kind of tried complex folders, but I would prefer to have the tool generate the SQL if possible because it won't just be me creating reports, and if it's possible, I'd like to avoid coding the SQL myself every time I want to join subject areas.
I also looked at Custom Folders, but my understanding is that they are used primarily to join 1 fact table with multiple dimensional tables, but not multiple fact tables (at least that was the example in the documentation).
My current setup is a 2 tier environment, with just Disco Admin and Disco Desktop on top of 10g. We don't have AS yet so I can't test anything that way.
I appreciate any comments in advance.
    Nate

You should try both Complex folders as well as custom folders and see which gives you better performance. Discoverer SQL optimizations for example apply only on Complex folders and not on simple folders.
If you define the joins between the two tables, you can still use items from them in your Discoverer report without having to create a complex folder on them.
And finally, you can always create a view or materialized view and use that MV in your Discoverer query.
    thanks

  • Multiple subject areas within publisher & drill downs

    Hi ,
can we pull data from multiple subject areas within publisher and place the report on a dashboard and still do drill downs?
    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for your reply,
I could not see any provision to get data from multiple subject areas.
In BI Answers we can get data from multiple subject Areas but we cannot do the drill down.
If there is any way to get data from multiple subject areas and still do the drill down then plz increase my knowledge repository....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Thanks,

  • Rename Subject Area

What are the steps to rename a subject area in the Presentation Layer of the Admin Tool, so that any Answers reports pulling data from that subject area still work correctly?
I have tried to rename my subject area, and then I went to my report and replaced all references to the old Subject Area with the new one in the Advanced tab.
I am still missing the data formatting I set in the report though (i.e. number -> Currency)
Is there any way to get the formatting back?

I'm afraid not. Once you rename the Presentation Folder - it's not the same for Presentation Services purposes. What you can try to do is use the old name in the Aliases tab - but this might or might not work and is not generally recommended.

Are we able to share data from different subject areas in answers?

Yes you can do that ....it is by using mutliple subject areas....what version admin you using, in 11g first select a subject area  to analysis then on the top you see small symbol left to refresh button of database to add another SA to your analysis....if you query the fileds which are connected in physical layer ,then no performance issue...if not you might a delay in the query.

  • Tax Data in any AR Subject Area

    Hello All,
I have a scenario to add lots of AR Tax data elements in any of AR Subject area. Currently we are using OBI Apps 7.9.6.1.
The AR tax details are coming from the Oracle-EBS 11 5 9, the most of the source tables are AR_COLLECTORS, ECE_TP_HEADERS, AR_VAT_TAX_ALL_B.etc....
I need to map all these tables through Informatica mappings and bring it into any of AR Subject area.
Please advice me that, which subject area could be the best one to add all tax information of AR.
Is there any specific join conditions to add these (AR_COLLECTORS, ECE_TP_HEADERS, AR_VAT_TAX_ALL_B.) following tables in the existing Informatica mappings.
    Thanks!!
    Praveen

Are you importing data into the EBS through Informatica PowerCenter? I strongly suggest you use the EBS interface tables or the provided EBS API's for importing data from external sources, in fact, this is Oracle's recommended method of importing data from external sources. You are asking for trouble if you try to put data in all the right places yourself. This is why Oracle provide interface tables and API's to import data.
Oracle's Enterprise Business Suite (EBS) plays by its own rules and for good reason. There are just too many dependencies between tables to attempt this on your own. I suggest your review the Oracle Applications Documentation library for how to use the interface tables and APIs. Each EBS module has it's own set of interface tables and APIs.

  • Changing date format for some of the date columns in a subject area

    Hi,
I have a requirement to change the date format for some of the date columns to dd-mon-yyy for only a particular subject area. Is there a feature available in the RPD which can help me do this?
In Answers - Column Properties for a Particular column of a report, we can save the style and formatting as system wide default for the particular column or the data type, but that applies across subject areas.
I tried with the config files too , but that too applies to all suject areas.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Gaurav

Why don't you create 2 logical column derived from same date physical col and then change the format for one logical column and use it in Subject Area ?
