Data selection and Person selection

Hi all,
What is the difference between 'Data selection' and 'Person selection' in PNP screen.(PNP logical database)
I searched so many . But couldn't find appropriate one. Still confusing.
Can any one explain me with example?
must use both at a time or any one selection is enough?
Which situation use 'Data selection' and which situation use 'Person selection' ?

I developed a customized report using PNP LDB.
If , I entered 01.01.2008 - 31.12.2008 in 'Data selection'
              3 in employee status( active)
or
I entered 01.01.2008 - 31.12.2008 in 'Person selection'
              3 in employee status( active)
If , I entered 01.01.2008 - 31.12.2008 in 'Data selection'
              0 in employee status( active)
or
I entered 01.01.2008 - 31.12.2008 in 'Person selection'
              0 in employee status( active).
In above all cases picking the same record. what is the use of PNP screen?
after 'GET PERNR' pernr structure get the value of latest record from infotype P0000.ie firing record. Because it doesn't bother the status.
For below case picking the proper one.
If , I entered 01.01.2008 - 16.08.2008 in 'Data selection'
              3 in employee status( active)
or
I entered 01.01.2008 - 16.08.2008 in 'Person selection'
              3 in employee status( active)
If , I entered 17.08.2008 - 31.12.2008in 'Data selection'
              0 in employee status( active)
or
I entered 17.08.2008 - 31.12.2008 in 'Person selection'
              0 in employee status( active).

Difference:--
Data Selection Period
The data selection period enables you to specify the period in which employee data records are read. Only records which overlap with the specified period by at least one day are selected. To define an interval, enter the start date in the left column and the end date in the right column
Person Selection Period
When you enter a person selection period, the system selects only those employees who are members of the enterprise on at least one day in the specified period. These are persons with a valid Organizational Assignment (0001) record. Entries in the standard selection options fields limit the personnel numbers that are selected. You can specify an interval by entering the start and end dates in the left and right columns respectively.
Selection criteria in PNP are just used to determine the pernrs which meet them. For these pernrs then all wanted data is selected. This data then is not checked against this criterias.
An Example:
Pernr 4711 has benn assigned to costcenter 10 from 01.01.2004 until 31.12.2004. On 01.01.2005 costcenter changes to 20.
If you now select all employees with costcenter 10 and list their costcenters, you will get both costcenters 10 and 20.
Most reports which use PNP have to sets of date-ranges:
- Person selection period that controls selection of pernr.
- Other period that controls selection of data.
If you set person selection period in above example to 01.01.2004 and other period to 01.01.2005 and select costcenter 10 you will in fact get employee 4711 with costcenter 20 shown.
Same effect with org-unit or any other selection criteria.

In Data selection Period: record for the Period will only be selected.
In Person selection period : Record for the those person who are in that period will be selected.
If Data selection Period is avilable & Person selection period is NIL:
Now if you Do not give any period in Person selection period but there is dates in Data selection Period, then Person is considered as * i.e. all the Perosn will considered. In that case in your system if there is data inconsistency is there their record will also be considered. Hence it is likely that the report will be giving some error. It will be difficult to idenify.
There is suggested that both Data selection Period and Person selection period should be same to avoid any error in the report.

The Multi-Select is now working, not sure what I did wrong earlier. However the "Can select all" option when building the parameter does not work as advertised, though I was able to get around that as well.
Create a Data Model

Can select all - Checked
Refresh other parameters on change - Checked
Then test your report. Select "All" from the LOV and click view. Result - No Rows Returned.
Selecting a "Single" or "Multiple Values" values from the LOV does work.
The way I am getting around the problem is to uncheck the "Can select all" and then manually select all the values in the LOV in order to get the "All".

When do we need to use SELECT .. ENDSELECT
Usually we will never use SELECT .. ENDSELECT as it gives very poor performance.
But whenever we read a single Record we will use it as an alternative for SELECT SINGLE in some scenarios.
Eg: When the Full primary key is not specified in the WHERE clause.
SELECT * FROM MARC INTO WA_MARC UP TO 1 ROWS WHERE MATNR = P_MATNR.
ENDSELECT.
And other scenario is when we perform AGGREGATE OPERATIONS.when the Result is only one row.
SELECT SUM( LABST ) FROM MARD INTO V_LABST UP TO 1 ROWS
WHERE MATNR = P_MATNR.
ENDSELECT.
Note: In The Above scenario we cannot use SELECT SINGLE..

Unlimited Data Plan and Personal Hotspot possible?

Hello all, I have been a customer with AT&T for over 10 years now and was pretty disappointed with the conversation I just had with one of their customer service representatives. Since I first purchased an iPhone I have had the unlimited data plan for $30 that was required for purchase at the time. I recognize that since they've done away with unlimited data as an option, I have not gone over the 2GB $25 plan, but I still have opted to pay the extra for unlimited usage in case the day should come that I needed it. Today I called the customer service line to inquire about why I was not able to set up a personal hotspot (when I try, my phone tells me to contact AT&T). I was told that I would need to "upgrade" (don't get stuck on the terms) to a 2GB ($25) or 5GB ($50) monthly option in order to use this feature. Something about this seems off to me since I have been carrying forward a plan that AT&T required me to have in the first place, but now it disqualifies me from a feature of the phone - not due to capabilities, mind you. Does anyone know if there is the ability to combine these two features? Really frustrated with AT&T for making it (seem hopefully) an impossibility. Appreciated.

My siblings have Sprint and love it, they also offer unlimited everything for cheaper than ATT, plus an insurance plan for 7 bux a month that offers water damage coverage!! Once I can afford to pay the cancellation or my contract is finally up, ATT will not get another dime out of me, my ten year loyalty apparently is not enough, I have to fight to get some recognition for this loyalty, so its time to move on. I am with you on that. I am so insulted to have paid for two phones for 10 years and I cant share my unlimited data with my dam tablet (which they want me to pay 25-50 dollars just to give it internet access as another phone line so that will also need the 9.99 for the added line too I presume) Its sick and disapppointing. Is there anything ATT offers that doesnt require the customer to be inconvenienced and work twice as hard to get what they need (or THINK they already pay for - as misrepresentation is another special here)? I even had u-verse, and let it be known there was NEVER a month that the bill was the same, there were always charged that needed to be disputed and it was always getting more and more expensive and not a single Rep could explain it to me where it made sense. ATT get your stuff in line. With you not offering unlimited anymore and being one of the more expensive plans I think your loyal customers should be more of a priority, as the new ones will be gone as fast as they come when someone else offers a cheaper plan. We have stuck with you paying $80+ a month for a single line in some cases even when $50- unlimited everything plans are out there, and thats not enough for you to make a few exceptions? I would pay another 10/mo to tether my UNLIMITED plan, but like heck I am going to a limited data plan just to tether so you can try and make more money off me, I PAY YOU ENOUGH!

Tree renderer - change the appearance between selected and not selected

Hi,
I have a JTree that I would like to show for each node different information depending on it selection status. I wrote my own renderer to create the Component to display (it is a JPanel with one JLabel in one case, and a JPanel with mulitple JLabels in the other case).
When I run my program, the node appears ok, but when I select it the tree doesn't update the size of the composnen to be displayed, and that resualts in displaying only a fraction of the information for the selected node.
I have tried to set the tree row height, so the tree will ignore the chached size of the renderer but it didn't work.
Any suggestions?

Have you tried calling tre.setRowHeight(0) - this is supposed to indicate to the tree that the renderer will determine the height of each cell.
Never tried it, though.

Differentiate tableView select and dis-select.

Hello all,
I have debugged and found that the EVENT_TYPE attribute of the CLASS : CL_HTMLB_EVENT_TABLEVIEW is always set to <b>rowSelection</b>, regardless of the fact wheather we select a row or de-select it.
Is there a wway to differentiate it ???

the only way to differentiate between row select of deselect is that (in a tableview where selectionmode eq singleselect)
if <cl_htmlb_event_tableview>->PREVSELECTEDROWINDEX is equal to <cl_htmlb_event_tableview>->SELECTEDROWINDEX means user is deselecting a row.
else
user is selecting a row.

I have now multiple selection in my application via selectin mode 8. but i also want that the app reacts when i make one selection. the lead_selection argument does not work anymore with mode 8.
Anyone nows how to manage that?

u want to know the value/column name of clicked cell in ALV, am i right?
If i'm right do below:
1. Create a event handler with name on_click , while creating the event handler u have to specify the select the event as ON_AFTER_CONFIG (Press F4 on the Event row).
Inside on_click u can get the value of the selected cell.
U have WDEVENT & R_PARAM parameters.
Using these 2 parameters u can get as ur wish.

TS2830 New PC windows 7. itunes with library of 246 songs. New computer recognises ipod, iphone and ipad but there is an error allowing me to get the music library from the PC itunes to any of the apple devices. Have tried de-selecting and re-selecting th

All apple devices are recognised by the PC in itunes but cannot get the music to load onto any of the devices from my itunes library. there is an error message with 100+ errors as songs are not found. I have tried alll sorts of things but at a loss for how to get music onto my devices. I want to buy some more songs but reluctant to because not sure if I can listen to them on my devices! The PC is too difficult to listen to songs on (for obvious reasons).
Please help.

The trackpad of my 13" macbook pro (mid 2012) has geen going nuts for about a week now. It randomly clicks and drags the cursor to all places on screen, it randomly clicks, selects and swipes. Have tried spm reset and pressure on whole trackpad. Help?!

It goes nuts for hours and the next day it acts completely fine. My macbook is impossible to work with when the problem is active; it randomly clicks, drags, selects and even selects words (in a yellow colour) to come up with latin(?!) translations.
Ive tried the reset (option+cmd+r+p) and it seemed to work at first but now it doesnt seem to have any effect whatsoever.
Also tried to apply pressure to the entire surface of the trackpad or just the top corners; no effect whatsoever.
It's been quite an expensive purchase for a young student like me and i've really enioyed it until last week.
I'd be relieved if someone came up with a solution; especially since its warranty has expired for half a year now.

Multiple users and multiple select options

First of all, let me congratulate Oracle HTML DB team for this great product! This is extremely powerful and useful.
I have multiple selection item on the form to generate report for the selected multiple schools. I have two critical questions.
1) Currently I am deleting all records from database tables for multiples selects and similarly selecting all records from these tables to populate dependent LOVs and so on. This is a major issue when multiple people use this application at the same time. I looked at couple of examples to create, delete and select records based on IDs (unique) and it is not clear to me if I need to create parameter/hidden params on the reports side or on the HTML DB side or .. how do they communicate etc. Could any one clarify this process of checking for unique IDs please.
2) Is there any way to give an option to the user to treat multiple selected item as just one single and to treat them separate? For example, if we let the user count number of students at two schools, how can we let the user count two schools separate as well as both schools together? This should also further ask for the possible options separate for both schools separate if they were to run separate.
This is very important for me and appreciate any help from you. Thanks in advance.
