Data source filter in studio

is data source filter still supported in studio in version 3.1? I don't see it working in my case when I put the filter in endeca server connection. please advise

To set the filter value for a SharePoint common list, SPView.SetViewXml property is used to set the filter value. Following thread contains sample to help get a better understanding about how to use it:

However, I haven’t make it work for external list. In this situation, I would suggest you to custom control to display the list item instead of customizing the existing list view filter. You can choose to use gridview or other table to show the data.

Binding a component to more than one data source in Design Studio 1.3

Hi All,
Is it possible to bind more than one data source to a component in Design Studio 1.3?
I have 2 Bex queries- one having the current year data(say 06.2013-05.2014) and the other having the previous year data(say 06.2012-05.2013).
I want to create a column chart with x axis labels as 06,07,08.............01,02,03,04,05.
The 05 will show 2 columns for 05.2014 and 05.2013
The 04 will show 2 columns for 04.2014 and 04.2013
and so on
The 06 will show 2 columns for 06.2013 and 05.2012.
Can this be achieved in Design Studio if only one data source is possible for a column chart?

I don't see where this is possible out of the box as the properties for the chart show only one data source
Is the data coming from one InfoProvider? If so could you create one query that shows current year and with a BEx variable/offset show prior year?

Data Source Filter Error - 0CO_PC_PCP_10

Hi all,
I am facing a problem in the data source 0CO_PC_PCP_10. I have configured a filter of date (KADKY) to select a range of date, but during the extration the filter doesn´t work. The selection fetch all dates instead of fetching only the range selected.
Does anybody knows about this problem?

Hi Gustavo,
I am assuming that you have changed the value of SELECTION = 'X' in the table ROOSFIELD for making the field as selection enabled.
I am sorry to break it to you that it will not work because in the extraction FM for this datasource the extraction is done on table KEKO and below selection criteria is hard coded in FM.
So even if you make other fields as selection possible it will never work.
Unless SAP releases a patch/Note to modify the FM SREP_COPC_PCP_10 and make it more field selection enabled.
I think it is better to use KADAT if you want to use selection criteria and then manipulate your data in BW further using KADKY.

How to delete a View in data source in Essbase Studio

Hi All, I am not able to delete the existing View in datasource as one of the properties of the View has been changed and studio is not picking up those changes. I removed all dependencies(dimensional elements, Alias set, Hierarchies, Schemas). I tried to drop the View and add it again but the option to drop the view is grayed out. I restarted the Studio service as well and tried it in vain. Can anyone help on this issue.

that is one of the problems with Studio. Once added you can't remove a table or view from a datasource connection. This is changed in 11.1.2.

Data domain filter in endeca studio

earlier in Endeca 2.3, we could use data source filter and restrict the data ...link shows more details Adding filters to a data source
But I am not able to get this to work in Endeca 3.1 studio under Endeca server definition ..it is able to validate the definition ....here is my definition

Base Functions were removed in EID 3.1 and replaced with a Base Filter for each Data Set. See http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E40518_01/studio.310/studio_migration/toc.htm#Removed%20State%20Manager,%20baseFunctions,%20parent/child%20relationships for details.

Dashboard: Error by copying data source

I have a DB in design studio - I have created a data source.
When I try to copy the DS with copy and paste I get this error:

I've seen this error with Design Studio 1.1
But I just tried copying and pasting a data source in Design Studio 1.2 - no errors on my side

Column Modification impact to Data foundation, Business layer and Data source in DS 1.2

Issue
An existing Business Layer that is consumed by a Data Source definition in Design Studio 1.2 Version: 12.0.2.201311041742 seems to invalidate the entire Data Source object after modification to the base tables DDL (data definition). Information Design Tool used is Information Design Tool 4.1, Build:14.1.1.1036, Version: 4.1 Support Pack 1.
Background
A modification was needed a base tables DDL (data definition). Specifically a column that stores the Date value as a varchar needed to update to a Date data type. After the modification was completed the Data Foundation and Business Layer in the Information Design Tool (IDT) needed
modification as well to reflect the updated column data type. Refreshing the Data Foundation and/or the Business Layer did not update the column Data Type. The step of dropping and re-inserting the updated table in the Data Foundation and subsequently the Business Layer updated
the expected columns Data Type as expected. All the existing Data Source definitions that were in use throughout the application (Design Studio) were invalidated causing the following error after the DDL update.
After rebuilding the Data Source definition in Design Studio, the issue was no longer there however, the existing Data Sources were still non-functional and were subsequently deleted.
In Sum
Is there another way to make changes to the base table(s) without negatively impacting the Data Foundation (IDT)àBusiness Layer (IDT)àData Source Definition (Design Studio) to the point where Data Sources on the Design Studio have to be redone preceded with similar effort at the IDT level? Is there a step(s) that I missed?
Any insight would be appriciated.

I recall in late May SAP issues SP2, and earlier in the year they issued SP1 - could you apply both SP's, client-side and platform-side?

Dynamic filter in Design studio using drop-down when data source is Universe

Hi community,
Is there anyway to create Cascading filter in Design studio when data source is Universe using drop-down component (Dimension filters cannot be used in my requirement).
My requirement is,
I have 2 drop-downs:
drop-down 1 : shows the regions in a country.
drop-down 2 : should display states based the region selected in the first drop-down (drop-down 1). Also drop-down 2 should pass selected state as input to the data-source

Crystal report for visual studio 2010 data source object is not valid error

Hello,
I receive an "data source object is not valid" error when I want to print one CR document after setting an ADODB.Recordset on SetDataSource method of my report.
On my developer station, this operation works without problem but on client station, I get this error.
The redistributable package for client is installed on client side (CRRuntime_32bit_13_0_1.msi).
Can someone help me?

This error appears during "report.SetDataSource(rsPkLst)" instruction.
ADODB drivers are already installed and my ADODB.Recordset is filled with good records.
This project is an updated project from Visual Studio 2003 to Visual studio 2010 and the old version was running fine.
Developer and client station runs under Windows XP SP3.
On developer side I install CRforVS_13_0_1 (BuildVersion=13.0.1.220.Cortez_CR4VS).
On client side I install CRRuntime_32bit_13_0_1.msi.
Both stations use Microsoft .Net Framework 4.
Move to ADO.NET is a solution but, for the moment, I do not have the time to change all applications from my company.
(I get this error from all application updated from VS 2003 to VS 2010 developed since 2005)

Using report parameter in data set filter expression with an SSAS data source

I have an SSRS report with an SSAS data source.
Report parameters:
Param1 - text, single select
Param2 - text, multi-select
Dataset:
In Query Designer, I want to include Param1 as a filter expression so I can have "Dimension1 Begins with @Param2". I'm not sure the exact syntax to make param2 work in this.
The point is to filter my data set on param1. If A is selected for param1, I want the data set to have the filter saying "Dimension1 begins with A"

try this maybe the dates you are comparing are not in the same format.
I test data template in EBS but not with dates.
to_date(date,'dd/mm/YY') between to_date(:p_from_date ,'dd/mm/YY') and to_date(:p_to_date ,'dd/mm/YY')
if dont works try to put values insted of your parameter like :
to_date(date,'dd/mm/YY') between to_date(:p_from_date ,'10/01/07') and to_date(:p_to_date ,'01/12/07') ... put dates where u can have some values in report...
if dont work then try to print the values of the 2 parameters and the date of the select somwhere in ur report to see what you have in it..

PerformancePoint - 2010 Scorecard filter based on two data sources (Actual - OLAP/Target - Sharepoint List)

I have KPI's for tasks performed by specific groups within our organization, the actuals are determined by an MDX tuple formula against an AS OLAP data source:
([Change Task Assignment Group].[Group Subtype].&[GDC PM], [Measures].[Average task duration - m]) /1440
The Task Name is provided by a filter, also looking at the AS OLAP data source.
This woks well and allows us to have a single scorecard for the team, providing actuals depending on the task selected from the filter. The problem comes in setting targets for the KPI's! I can only set one target for each KPI and this is
the same for which ever task is selected via the filter. The target is stored in a SharePoint list.
Is it possible to have targets for the different tasks driven by the same filter? Can a single filter be configured to return values from two data sources to both the Actual KPI value and the Target value?

Essbase Studio Data Sources

Hello,
we are familiar with Essbase Integration Services (EIS) which we use to build our essbase outline with the memberload-option.
EIS itself uses configured ODBC-DSN to read data from relational databases. Because EIS uses the ODBC DSN of the system where EIS Server is running it is possible to use other ODBC-DSN/Drivers than the from DataDirect supported ones.
Because we have a big EDW which is not supported officially in the Essbase Support Stack we still have the requirement to use our EDW as Data Source to Build the Outline (The Essbase Data Load also uses a EDW ODBC-DSN to load Data).
In fact the Essbase Data Load via a free configurable ODBC will still work.
But if we look for a Step from EIS to Essbase Studio we recognize that Essbase Studio will only Support some few Databases (in 11.1.2.3 it is Oracle (+RAC), MS SQL, MySQL, DB2, Netezza, Teradata)
Does anybody knows other RDBMS / ODBC-Drivers that already have successfully configured/tested with Essbase Studio.
The Documentation still say that Essbase Studio will Support relational databases but i think they mean the ones which are hard-coded in the essbase studio console gui.
