Hello everyone....am in a tizzy regarding BAPI's and IDOC's.Can someone clear my doubts please??
Interface concept of R/3 is based on two strategies--RFC and IDocs.
1.]When sending(to R/3) Purchase Order via RFC--Does this mean the PO is transferred by/as a BAPI??
2.]And ALE mechanism is used to transfer IDOCs.Doesn't the ALE use RFC destination to distribute documents?Then why isn't IDOC/ALE referred to RFC like a BAPI?
3.]Is this statement correct:loosely coupled applications(MM,SD,PP etc) are tightly integrated because of ALE??Is the integration of various modules due to ALE or a central Database or both??
4.]Can a BAPI be used to communicate with non R/3 systems say send a PO to the vendor?
5.]Where does XI feature in all the above??

A lot of questions, but there are not specific to SRM, General to all SAP Components. Let me try to answer what i can and know.
1. When sending(to R/3) Purchase Order via RFC--Does this mean the PO is transferred by/as a BAPI??
Yes. PO is transferred by/as a BAPI.
2. ALE use RFC destination to distribute documents. There are two kind of ALE Processes.
a. Synchronous - Use RFCs or BAPIs.
b. Asynchronous - IDocs
Since ALE use RFC destination, it does not mean they use BAPI.
RFC destination is Remote System you want to reach.
What you use to carry the data that you decide is it a IDoc or RFC or BAPI.
How do you want the response from Remote System that you decide by Synchronous or Asynchronous.
3. Is this statement correct:loosely coupled applications(MM,SD,PP etc) are tightly integrated because of ALE??
No
Is the integration of various modules due to ALE or a central Database or both?? They are thru Integration touch points thru program logic in the back.
4. Can a BAPI be used to communicate with non R/3 systems say send a PO to the vendor.
Yes.
5. Where does XI feature in all the above.
XI is mapper, translator with Business Partner Network(BPN),EAI tool.
One Simple Ex.:
Your PO should turn into Sales Order into Vendor SAP system, then Vendor can do their backend ERP process using that Sales Order. Vendor can send Acknowledgement, Confirmation and Invoice from their system, inturn will be translated into your system on your PO.
XI sit between any systems and works. It uses XML as communication language.

Data Transfer from 4.7 version system to 6.0 version system
Hello Experts ,
We have our FICO system is on 4.7 version. But our HR System is on 6.0 version. FICO (4.7) system is old one with all data. And HR (6.0) is being newly implemented....
We need some data from FI (4.7) system to HR (6.0) . In future if any changes happens in FI (4.7) system the same changes need to be done in HR (6.0) system too . For ex : If currency of particular country changed..Then as FI is imp we will make that chnage in FI box..We want to reflect the same change in HR box as well.....
We found 2 ways for this :
!) doing manually
2) Doing either by transporting or using ALE /IDoc method
We want to investigate ways to perform the same using 2 way as this is very simple. But we have doubts here... As HR is on 6.0 and FI is on 4.7 ..... Can we transport data using transports ??? (between2 different versions /??)
If transports are not done , then we do that using ALE/ IDocs? using IDoc's we gerenally send transctional data... This configuration settings comes under master data ... can we send this master data using ALE/ IDoc or LSMW..If yes suggest us the msg types ...or other needed info,.

Yes, distribution of master data via ALE should be OK between these two systems, no problems whatsoever.
You can use message type COSMAS to distribute cost centres for example which is necessary and is most common change scenario for both HR and FI systems. For all other message types see list of Message Types under transaction (Area Menu) WEDI.
I think ALE should be the correct approach given your scenario.

Error in RBDMIDOC report run in E-REC, for data transfer from HR to EREC system
Hi,
We are on EHP5, EREC 605, SP0007. EREC is on a standalone, separate instance. HR in a separate instance.
We have created new org.units & positions, which we are trying to move from HR to EREC system for starting the EREC process.
In the report message type, gave input "HRMD_ABA", The output throws this error. (Screenshot attached)
Please provide your helps on the reasons for the error and corrective action to be taken.

If i want to create a requisition as a recruiter from EREC portal, for that newly created vacant positions, what needs to be done?
How to move that new vacant org.unit with position to EREC system ?
Should I run the org.unit with positions using PFAL (Insert/update mode) or use RBDMIDOC method ?

Data transfer from BW to other systems
Hello experts,
I have 1 scenario where I have to transfer BW Query result to other system. I checked APD option for the same but I can't create flat file of the output and give it to other system. Can anyone help me for the XML option, where I can transfer my query result using XML to other system or may be by web service. Currently we are on BW 3.5 pack 17. I tried to search in forums but got info about 1 web service called GetQueryViewData but m not able to use it..please guide me.

Im aware that I can use OpenHub Functionality for this.Can anyone explain how to do this as I am unable to implement this for this situation.....

there are three different scenarios for transferring the data of an external candidate to the HR core for hiring.
the easiest and most commonly used is the RFC connection. When creating an activity of category data transfer the data of the candidate is transferred from eRec to HR core. There it is stored in table T752F. Then you can run transaction PA48. There you can select the candidate and run a hiring action. This is the same action like in PA40 only the system will preset the fields with the values from eRec (similar to batch input).
Instead of using the RFC solution you can transfer the data using PI (this can be activated using a switch in T77S0). To be honest none of my customers is using this. Either they had no PI server at all or they did not use it for eRec
The third was delivered with a business function HCM_HIRE_INT_CI_1. This is based on HCM processes and forms and targeted towards customers using Talent Management Core (e.g. data for education and work experience is transferred into the TM Core infotypes 740X as contrary to the hr core standard infotypes 0022 and 0023 they are structured like the eRec ones). Of course as you can do a lot of customer enhancements to HCMP&F you can replace the behavior nearly completely. One or two of my clients discussed this solution but as far as I know none is actually using it.
The simple truth is most customers seem to not use any integration at all. The first solution is easy to activate but only covers around 13 fields. Compared to a real full blow hiring action this is not even 10% of the fields which have to be entered. So the presetting this small number of fields is not a great help especially as you have to check every information anyways. Furthermore PA48 is not very nice and lacks functions to structure the incoming records which makes it difficult to handle in large distributed organizations.
The other two options require a lot of infrastructure for small functionality. What we discussed with a client was using the new hire integration to preset a full hiring form with eRec data and then send to the candidate as offline form to gather all missing information and use this for hiring. But there were to many issues on data privacy aspects when sending a form with social security data, bank account data, etc. via email. Furthermore they required actual signatures.

ERec - Data Transfer from eRec system to HCM System
Hello All,
Currently am able to do the data transfer from eRec system to HCM system but am finding some inconsistencies here.
In our scenario we are on ehp4 and no XI in place, We are doing via RFC only. Stanalone eRec system
So here are few queries and if someone can address these would be really great and appreciate the help
1) While i do the data transfer activity, when i select activity and don not give the Hiring Date in the Org Assignment Column it throws an error "When transferring data using XI, the hiring date must be specified". But am not using XI, then why should it give this error?
Also is it not possible that i do the data transfer without any hiring date?
Also there are two options Planned and Completed. When i do the data transfer i keep it in planned status and do it it automatically saying that Complete
Is this correct
2)Now when i do the data transfer it is getting appeared in HR system when i execute the PA48 tcode.
Here my queries are
a) Suppose i do a data transfer for a candidate Abc on 10.10.2010 and run the PA48 tcode it appears in the list as hire date 10.10.2010
Now as a recruiter am again doing the data transfer for the same candidate Abc for 11.10.2010 and againg when i see PA48 there is again another entry for the Abc candidate for hiring
Is this correct process. How should these duplicate entries to be avoided. Pls help me
3) Also i case if I want additions infotypes to be transferred in PA48 how should we go for this development

Data transfer from E-recruitment to PA
Dear All,
we are Implementing E-recruitment. while transferinf the data from E-recruitment to Personnel administraion, I am getting the error, No data available from the partner system table T752F). We are using the same server for E-rec and PA.
While doing the data transfer activity in E-recruitment i m getting succfulll. In R/3 while going to the Tcode PA48 i m getting the error.
Please help me on this.

and R/3 starts with creating a "Data Transfer for New Employees"
activity within e-recruiting for the candidate selected to be hired.
Data from e-recruitment is transferred to the target HR (via an RFC
call) and stored there in a holding table (T572F) for processing
by an appropriate action. Within the HR system, execute transaction
PA48 to access the holding table. Select the candidate you want to
process and then click the "Hire" button, and continue with the
appropriate action.
This message occurs, if you execute PA42 or PA48, in order to perform
the personnel action RA (Integration with Recruitment in Partner
Systems) and no data exists on the R/3 or external system.

Time Machine Data Transfer - From FireWire Drive to Time Capsule - HELP!
I've been searching for weeks for a solution to my problem. Here's the story I've come across since I installed Leopard on Oct. 26, 2007.
I first installed Leopard on my Early 2006 MacBook and set up Time Machine with a 200GB external FireWire drive. Since then, things have been fine, until Time Machine started deleting the oldest backups. I'm a pack-rat and hated this feeling of losing data. So, I now have a few months worth of backups on my 200GB FireWire drive.
The Time Capsule is released, I finally talk myself into getting one and transferring my old data from the 200GB drive to my 1TB TC.
I did some researching through forums about how to move data from one Time Machine drive to another, so I took the concept and wanted to apply it to my Time Capsule. I made a DMG image of my 200GB drive, in order to move the data. I figured if I can make an image, copy it, and open it on the Time Capsule - all will go smoothly - just as some had mentioned they've done with external drives.
Now, I have a 164GB DMG image of my Time Machine, with no hope in sight of gaining it back. I've tried taking the image, using Disk Utility, and restoring my original 200GB external with the imaged Time Machine data, but whenever I do, I come across error messages.
In Disk Utility, I've done the following steps:
* Disk Image is found on Time Capsule
* I select the 200GB drive and select 'Restore'
* I drag and drop the Disk Image to the 'Image' field
* I drag and drop the 200GB drive into the the 'Restore' field
* Select 'Erase Destination'
* Select 'Restore'
* I get the warning message that I'll erase the drive - I proceed
* I enter my password
Error message pops up:
"Restore Failure: Could not find any scan information. The source image needs to be imagescanned/scanned for restore."
I select the image in Disk Utility, then proceed with the following steps:
* Click on "Image" then down to "Scan Image for Restore"
* I enter my password
After hours of waiting, I get another error message:
"Unable to scan. (Broken pipe)."
I'm going to see, after transferring the DMG to the Time Capsule, if I can drag-and-drop the files from the Time Capsule drive onto the 200GB hard drive.

They keep coming at about 6 or 7 a month. Some of them I don't care about, but several are essential. 10.5.3 has been seeded to the testers a couple of times and will probably show up in the next few weeks. Jaguar wasn't worth a d*mn until 10.2.6, Panther about 10.3.4, Tiger about 10.4.4 - I'd say we are ahead or on schedule Too bad I can't get Apple to fix Spaces. I wish they'd focus on what I want but I guess some take more time than others.

OM and PA data transfer from SAP 4.7 to ECC 6.0
Dear Experts,
hi
i am working on one project where i will need to design the data transfer from SAP 4.7 to ECC 6.0. this is not a upgrade project.
the data of PA and OM are in 4.7 which is existing system. i need to transfer entire data into ECC 6.0 so i can use that data for my E-Recruitment module ( we are doing E-rec fresh implementation.)
we will keep both the systems (4.7 and ECC 6.0). ECC 6.0 will be used for E-Rec and OM only. for PA and Payroll we will use 4.7.
can some one tell me,
1. what are the key points to keep in consideration from OM point of view ?
2. which is the best method to transfer the OM structure and data from 4.7 to ECC?
3. what are the risks?
4. which system we should make master system and which will be the slave system? why ?
your input will be much appreciated.

I was under the impression that you are planning to use PA & OM from 4.7, now I read it again.
Now its advisable to keep ECC 6 as a master system, becoz OM is the stating point of the HR processes where all Orgnization unit, job, position exists. Later the same data can flow to the slave system for PA use. As OM is the starting point, this system should be the master system.
Abou the IDoc interface.
Check the basic type HRMS_A05, whether it has all the data you need to transmit. T-Code WE30
If you need to add something you can create a Z version in WE31. I selected HRMS_A05 as it is present in both the SAP version.
Next there are series of transaction you need to process. Check with technical person who hands IDoc interafcing.
Steps are:
Assigning Message type to IDOC Type with extension. T-Code WE82
Create Logical System:
T-Code SALE-> Basic Settings-> Logical Systems-> Define Logical System
It is required to configure in the sending system as well as in the receiving system
Assign Logical System to Client:
T-Code SALE-> Basic Settings-> Logical Systems-> Assign Logical System to Client
Create RFC Destinations:
T-Code SM59, select ABAP connection of type 3.
Create Distribution Model: T-Code BD64
Generate Partner Profile: T-Code BD82
Maintain sending system partner profile: T-Code WE20
Link Message Type to Function Module T-Code WE57 in receiving system only
