Database Initialization Parameter Setting - extrapolation on Load Testing

We have a new application going live, hence a new database instance need to be set. The oracle version is 10.2.0.5 (exisiting env. constraint)
The load testing is conducted for approx. 2000 user load. As per the test results, during the peak load, number of database sessions opened are 450. The expected user load is 5500 in production, hence we are expecting approx 1100 database sessions at that time.
Due to constraints in load testing environment, we cannot test for 6000 users in production. Hence, we have to extrapolate the database parameter settings and put in production.
The SGA sizing & some other parameters in Load Testing is as below (with the following setting in load, the performance is acceptable)
sga_max_size 7.5 GB
sga_target 6 GB
db_cache_size 3 GB
shared_pool_size 1.5 GB
shared_pool_reserved_size 150 MB
java_pool_size 0.2 GB
large_pool_size 0.5 GB
sort_area_size 0.5 MB
streams_pool_size 48 MB
pga_aggregate_target 4 GB
processes 1200
db_block_size 8K
db_file_multiblock_read_count 16
db_keep_cache_size 134217728
fast_start_mttr_target 600
open_links 25
Please let me know how to set the database size for production on extrapolation. Apart from processes and sessions, which are parameters I should be giving more focus.

    Does anybody know, where is the file located ?
    When I search I am getting two files. (init.ora and init.ora.txt)
    Which file I need to make the changes in ???

    2.Can we go back to 10.2.0.3.0 from 10.2.0.4.0?

    Hi;
    1.If we are running 10.2.0.4 on a site and the initialization parameter setting is 10.2.0.3.0 then what BAD impacts it can give on Database. Its our online banking LIVE environment.You are working on same level 10g, if you move your database to 9i to 10g or 10g to 11g than i belive you can look your question answer. But for your issue i belive its not neccessary

  • Is Controller essential to test application in OATS for load testing

    Hello
    Is Controller tool essential to test application in OATS for Load testing?
    Regards,
    Srinivas

    Hi,
    Yes. The controller is responsible for setting up the load test scenario, and for initialising all VU's on the agent systems.

  • How can i set different number of iterations for different scenario profiles that we add to "AutoPilot" in load testing of OATS

    Hi,
    I have few set of load test scenarios, I would like to add each of these test scenarios to "AutoPilot" and run each different scenario profile at different number of iterations.
    As in Oracle Load Testing the "Set Up AutoPilot" tab I see  a section like this "Iterations played by each user: ", which says run these many iterations for every virtual user of all profile added under "Submitted Profile Scenario". So is there any thing like that to set different iterations for every scenario profile added in Autopilot.
    Thanks in advance

    It's not a built-in feature to override a page's styles on a tab-by-tab or site-by-site basis, but perhaps someone has created an add-on for this?
    It also is possible to create style rules for particular sites and to apply them using either a userContent.css file or the Stylish extension. The Greasemonkey extension allows you to use JavaScript on a site-by-site basis, which provides further opportunity for customization. But these would take time and lots of testing to develop and perfect (and perfection might not be possible)...
    Regarding size, does the zoom feature help solve that part? In case you aren't familiar with the keyboard and mouse shortcuts for quickly changing the zoom level on a page, this article might be useful: [[Font size and zoom - increase the size of web pages]].

  • HTTP Load Test - Stop Proxy info to be set by open Script

    Created a HTTP Load testing script in OpenScript. As soon as the browser(Firefox) opens up, the HTTP proxy settings were set to localhost: 7777.
    Our application would not work on that proxy. Please help on how we can override the proxy details.
    I tried the option in View -> OpenScript Properties -> Record(HTTP)-> Use broswer's proxy. It did not work either.
    Please help.

    Hi
    Port 7777 is the proxy that OpenScript uses to record the HTTP traffic, if you are using a proxy to access the application you will need to chain it.

  • Database load testing

    Hi,
    Can someone give me an idea of database load testing. Suppose testers are performing load testing on any application & we have to check load (bottlenecks) on database side, then what are the areas we might need to observe from database side.
    Oracle version - 10.2.0.3
    Thanks in advance

    Check if the server is ok with memmory and cpu usage and swap..........
    ON database side check the long running active sessions where they are waiting and suggest something so that these queries can speed up. You can suggest code change like new indexes , hints or outlines etc.....after checking the waits and sql plans of various slow sql statemenets

  • How to set Proxy for IE 8.0 on doing Load Testing with OATS 12.1.0.2

    I have tried adding proxy server by adding the address to "Localhost" and Port as 8080.
    but nothing is working out, for recording an EBS instance its working fine ,no need to setup anything in the OATS tool, eg, Proxy settings.
    But when it comes to BPM  with ADF technology , the recorder is not starting the Recording even the pointer navigation also not wokring.
    So, is there way to record the ADF applications in BPM ?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Wayne,
    Thing is do we need to add the proxy server here?, as for doing Load testing on EBS application,there is no need of adding a proxy server,
    So the same way it should work with the ADF application too, but its not showing any mouse pointer in the Browser tool bar or recording
    the navigation.
    Point to be noted is, we need to connect to VPN in order to access the Application.
    is it because of VPN connection that its not recording?
    But while doing the functional testing I didn't face anyproblem though as its recording everything even if we are connected to VPN.
    In Functional testing also i found ,all the input fields where we add the "username" or any input data via a "text box" the tool is not able to
    record the field information along with the input we enter.
    If you could let me know ,how to do a Load testing for ADF application using BPM , it would be helpful
    Thanks

  • Load Test Results - time series request data for by URL in VS2013

    I am trying to figure out how to export and then analyze the results of a load test, but after the test is over it seems I cannot find the data for each individual request by url. This data shows during the load test itself, but after it is over it seems
    as if that data is no longer accessible and all I can find are totals. The data that I want is under the "Page response time" graph on the graphs window during the test. I know this is not the response time for every single request and is probably
    averaged, but that would suffice for the calculations I want to make.
    I have looked in the database on my local machine (LoadTest2010, where all of the summary data is stored) and I cannot find the data I'm looking for.
    My goal is to plot (probably in excel) each request url against the user load and analyze the slope of the response time averages to determine which requests scale the worst (and best). During the load test I can see this data and get a visual idea but when
    it ends I cannot seem to find it to export.
    A) Can this data be exported from within visual studio? Is there a setting required to make VS persist this data to the database? I have, from under Run Settings, the "Results" section "Timing Details Storage" set to "All individual
    details" and the Storage Type set to "Database".
    B) If this data isn't available from within VS, is it in any of the tables in the LoadTest2010 database where all of the summary data is stored?
    Thanks
    Luke

    Hi Luke,
    Since the load test is used to
    simulate many users accessing a server at the same time, it is mainly verify a wev server load stress.
    As you said that you want to find the data
    for each individual request by url, I know that generally we can analyze the url request from the Summary like the following screen shot.
    >>I
    have looked in the database on my local machine (LoadTest2010, where all of the summary data is stored) and I cannot find the data I'm looking for.
    I suggest you can try to add the
    SQL Tracing Connect String in the Run Setting properties to trace the data.

    In addition, you can try to create an excel to analyze the load test result, for more information:

    I have tried everything with port numbers and also with Playback settings in openscript preference for proxy, tried to playback the script with proxy, without proxy for both the type of applications, company internal and external but still the same errors.
    Anyone please suggest me a solution to this problem.
    Thanks,
    Abhi.

    Hi,
    I think your password is encrypted. Try replace password "a99fad1866af01d9375627d5d08d7f1c11ed4d3f6d5d2372d40908884a15b8e6" with your password.
    Or Get output of obfuscate("your password") and replace "a99fad1866af01d9375627d5d08d7f1c11ed4d3f6d5d2372d40908884a15b8e6" with {{@deobfuscate( output of obfuscate("your password") )}}

  • J2EE Engine start error: Database initialization failed!

    My J2EE engine now fails to start - jcontrol stays yellow.  I've followed Troubleshooting pages from help.sap.com Admin manual topic "starting J2EE Engine".

    ANYONE HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS?????

    Using the Database Administration section of the help.sap.com library, I found the location of SAPDB/MySQL log files.  They are in C:\sapdb\data\wrk\J2E.  In 'knldiag' I found entries complaining of Log files being full and tasks put in suspension.
    So I figured out to do a full back up of the DB and/or backup the log files.  The log file bar (in MMC) still showed 100% full, but I figured out to refresh the view and voila it was empty (so one of the backups emptied it, not sure which one).
    After that the DB comes up fine and now my J2E WebAS goes all green.

  • GenericServiceFactory initialization problem when trying to load Web servic

    Hi,
    I am making a Guided procedure that calls a webservice. I have created a new Destination Template and was able to load the webservice definition successfully, but when I test the callable object I created for that same webservice y get the error:
    GenericServiceFactory initialization problem when trying to load Web service model for WSDL.
    Somehow I think there is something wrong with the user authentication. The Destination template has a user and password but somehow I think the callable object test is not using this information at all.
    Can anyone help ?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Hans,
    Have you verified if you can call any external web service calls from your J2EE engine?  Go into the SOA Management / Global settings (if you are on CE - if you're on 7.0 it's in manage WS desintations).
    Look at your proxy settings and set them like your web browser that enables external calls.  For example, in the SAP network I set my global proxy settings on my local J2EE engine to be:
    Proxy host:  proxy
    Proxy port: 8080
    Exclude list:  *.sap.corp
    Does that make sense - have you verified if your settings are correct for your company?
    Regards
    Ginger

  • Whats the best way to load test?

    So our app is ready for prime time and we are concerned about response times whether we will survive 100 simultaneous users.
    It would be additionally useful if I knew how many users we could tolerate simulataneously.
    I attempted running jmeter but I didn't spend a lot of time with it and it didn't overwhelm me with information.
    I get the sense that I would probably have to spend a couple weeks to really create useful, valid test simulations which I didn't have time for.
    Also, is it even legitimate? The fact that it is one single machine trying to simulate a hundred users on distributed machines?
    So, I really lacked a lot of confidence in my test.
    In fantasyland it would be great, if say there were some distributed google cloud machines that could simulate 100 users and start firing away at my app.
    Starting at 10 users and ramping up until no longer responsive and then providing those results.
    The fact is I don't have a lot of experience with this and would appreciate insight.
    Also, it just occurred to me that this is an internal app inaccessible from outside the organization.
    Does anyone have something they might consider the holy grail of load testing or good advice? Thx.

    If you have money to spend, I would recommend using Oracle's Application Test Suite (ATS) since it is the only test tool I know of that allows you to create a functional test and then convert it to a load test. The capabilities of this tool are pretty amazing considering that it is a single tool where the go to toolset in the past was Win Runner / Load Runner. With Win Runner, you needed 50 machines (or VMs) if you wanted to generate front end load for 50 users. With ATS, you record a script with your browser, and then convert it into a load test. You can adjust things like think time, ramp up time, sustained load, etc.
    What a lot of people miss is that testing tools can be used indefinitely, not just for getting through a migration. If you script your tests appropriately (which means that your user base trusts them), you can use them for every code release because it takes very little effort to run a test script. On top of that, you can set up strategically placed machines around your network that are set up to run a specific test script (think of a common transaction) so that performance metrics can be captured. I worked for a company that had 160 locations around the world and we used our testing tool as a performance monitor in the locations with the worst performance. Having a tool allowed us to see whether our performance issues were related to network, database, app servers, etc. This took the burden of explaining performance issues off of the users. Most users can't really articulate what the problems are anyway (and they aren't expected to).
    If budget is an issue, you can use JMeter from Apache, which will give you the load testing capability but you will miss out on the excellent reporting and management capabilities of the Oracle Application Test Suite.

  • The database DLL 'crdb_oracle' could not be loaded.

    I have built a .net 2.0 website that is using Crystal Report Viewer with an Oracle 10g Database. All works well on my local machine but when deployed to the web server I get the following error:
    Failed to load database information. Details: The database DLL 'crdb_oracle.dll' could not be loaded. Error in File C:\DOCUME1\DMTEST\ASPNET\LOCALS1\Temp\test {BB80E9A1-92CE-402D-A52A-47ECE4330794}.rpt: Failed to load database information.
    I have run the Crystal Reports for .Net Framework 2.0 setup and have located the 'crdb_oracle.dll' file in the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Business Objects\2.7\Bin directory. Am I missing a step in this process.
    The Web Server is a Windows 2000 box.
    Thank,
    John

    I am having a similar problem.  However, I do not have CR installed, but want to use only CR from within VS 2008 and deploy a ASP.NET reporting app to IIS.  If I create a simple report with no parameters it will run fine in both VS and IIS.  However, if I add a parameter to the report such as UserId={?Parameter1} then on execution, the report will prompt for the parameter and then throw this error, "The database DLL 'crdb_oracle' could not be loaded."
    I have added full privileges to the ASP.NET, IUSR, and IWAM for the Oracle folder.  I also search the hard drive and find only one OSI.dll and no crdb_oracle.dll.
    Can you tell me if my scenario is supported with VS 2008 only?
    I am connecting to the DB like this:
                ConnectionInfo connectionInfo = new ConnectionInfo();
                connectionInfo.ServerName = "Driver={Microsoft ODBC for ORACLE};Server=localhost;Port=1521;";
                connectionInfo.DatabaseName = "dev";
                connectionInfo.UserID = "...";
                connectionInfo.Password = "...";
                TableLogOnInfos tableLogOnInfos = CrystalReportViewer1.LogOnInfo;
                foreach (TableLogOnInfo tableLogOnInfo in tableLogOnInfos)
                    tableLogOnInfo.ConnectionInfo = connectionInfo;
    Thank you,

  • Which tool do you use for load testing?

    Which tool do you use for load testing for J2EE application?

    hi,
    i use jmeter for without issues..
    first make sure that the system from where you are doing load testing is in the same lan(without firewall) to that of server. Here you are testing the capacity of server and not the network bandwith.
    So assuming very good network connection what is the servers performance level...
    If u have to decide which tool is decent enough to load testing,
    i would suggest go for jmeter. its reliable and i have used it without problems.
    Here is my quick tutorial for jemeter which i made for my teams reference.
    REFERENCE
         For Getting Started refer to any tutorial for Jmeter
         You can refer to introduction on
              http://jakarta.apache.org/jmeter/usermanual/
    RUNNING LOAD TEST
         Extract jakarta-jmeter-2.3RC4.zip in c:
         install jdk-1_5_0_12-windows-i586-p.exe
         Run C:\jakarta-jmeter-2.3RC4\bin\jmeter.bat
         In Test Plan add Thread Group
         Right Click Thread Group -> Add->Sampler->HTTP Request
         Select HTTP Request added fill details
              Serverip:www.xyz.com
              Port:80
              Path:/xyz-webapp/index.jsp
              Use KeepAlive: Checked
              Retrive All Embeded images from HTML: Checked(For geting images inside html)
         Right Click Thread Group -> Add->Listner->Graph Results
         Click on Thread Group Fill details
              No of Threads:3(This means no of simultaneous users)
              Ramp Up Period:1(3 Request will be made in 1 second period)
              Loop Count:5(Above process should be repeated how many times)
         Save TestPlan
         Run -> Clear All
         Run -> Start
              Click on Graph Results for Output
         Try adding different listener in Thread Group
              Thread Group -> Add->Listner->Summary Report
         Listeners coud be added at thread group level or HTTP Request Level
    RECORDING A TEST.
         Add a HTTP proxy server in workbench by right clicking on it and selecting Add->Non test Element->HTTP Proxy Server.
         In Test Plan Add Thread Group
         In HTTP proxy server select Target Controller as Test Plan > Thread Group.
         Go to Internet Explorer and go to internet settings and set proxy server as localhost and the port
              which is configured in Jmeter proxy server.Save Settings.
         In Jeter proxy server start by Clicking on Start button in the HTTP Proxy Server Flap.
         In browser navigate the application which you want to test.
         The nodes will be added in the Thread Group.
         Once Navigation is done stop the proxy server and save the test plan from file menu.
    LOGGING INTO APPLICATION.
         When we have to login into system and then navigate the system
              we need a cookie to be tracked after login. This could be achieved
              simply by Add -> Config Element -> HTTP Cooie Manager.
         After adding the HTTP Cooie Manager simply run the test.
    LOOPING COUNTER.
         When a request is made multiple parameter is sent to server.
         Parameters are sent from the HTTP Request node added in the Thread Group
              in "Send Parameter with the request" table.
         If we run the loop count 10 times the parameters will be sent same in every request.
         If you have to send parameters like user1,user2,user3,user4....
              then add -> Pre processor -> Counter.
         Put start as 1 and and Maximum as 10 or whatever required.
         Put Referene name as iCtr or whatever.
         In the "Send Parameter with the request" in value column put user${iCtr}
