My daughter's touch has gone blank and has no apps or music or photos on it. This has happened before and i was able to get most of data back on. This time, when i choose restore from itunes backup, touch keeps telling me to connect to itunes. i am connected and updated and using a different cable and have tried shutting it off and on. Help she needs it for a class trip tomorrow morning, is 13 and extremely moody!
Did you try to connect in recovery mode to restore and set it up as new device?

I had my iPad 2 replaced by Applestore today. On the new iPad I tried to restore from iCloud backup point but was told I was unable to do this as the new iPad needed to have the latest running system iOS 7 loaded. Is there a way I can do this so I can get my iCloud backup or do I need to go back to Applestore and get an iPad preloaded with iOS 7?
If you feel comfortable you can do the Update to iOS 7 yourself and after you have successfully done that... then Restore your iCloud Back Up.
If you are not comfortable in doing it yourself... Then go back to the Apple Store and get them to do it.
They will be Happy to assist you. -
Hi guys Im trying to restore from Icloud backup and each time I do it from the three backups I have available, it keeps saying 'Cannot Restore Backup'.......any ideas please?

its a 4s, backed up on the 5/sept at 10.49pm, trying to restore on 7/sept and it saus password incorrect.
have tried 1234, 0000, and my only itunes password, and the lock phone password i had when i restored it.
resarted my computer, turned device on and off....still cant do it..
i'm annoyed now!

bambicoBecause when you first saved an encrypted backup that is the password you used. The backup password does not "track" your password changes; it stays with what you started with unless you change it.

I have an iPhone 3GS and was trying to restore it...
Now it won't let me activate my phone and my itunes tells me I have no SIM card inserted when I do.
Any ideas on how to get it working again?This means that the phone was previously hacked to carrier unlock (unauthorized unlock), and when you restored, the hack was removed and it became re-locked to its original carrier. It will now accept a SIM card only from that carrier.
Your only option is to contact the carrier it's locked to and enquire if they will provide authorized unlocking. Not all carriers will unlock and those that do usually have requirements and qualifications - i.e. you have to be a current or former customer in good standing. -
After I did a backup from iTunes I noticed 3 of my contacts were gone and then tried to restore from a old backup, worked once and now it won't again. Why is iTunes restore not working correctly?
I thought all my contacts were saved in iTunes, never had this problem before. Besides manually restoring them myself, is there any other way to retrive them?iCloud

I plugged my ipod touch into my computer to sync it and it came up with an error message saying that it encoutered an internal error and it refused to sync.
I then unplugged it and plugged it back in and this time it told me that I needed to restore from a backup or set it up as a new ipod. I tried to restore from a backup but it came up with the error message "Backup session failed" every time. I then looked on my ipod and all of my music and movies are gone though it still says that they are on the ipod in itunes. I decided to use the restore function and let that finish. After restoring it still doesn't allow me to sync or back up and The music and movies can still not be seen. I am currently attempting to copy the music and movies to my ipod though this did not work with my apps as they transfered but when I attempted to open them they just crash... If someone could please help me it would be great. It is driving me crazy.If you get an error that says can't backup, try moving the existing backup file to a safe location and thry again. again. How do I Restore previous session when I have it setup correctly and it did not restore from last session? I have General is set to Show my windows and tabs from last time and Privacy set to remember history.

There is No option to restore previous session when I go into History. There is No Recent history in the History. It will show my history if I click on show History, but it won't restore it!Hi StuckAtHomeMom
try in PRIVACY panel to set : Firefox will: Use custom settings for history and :
Uncheck: [ ] "Always use private browsing mode"
Uncheck: [ ] "Clear history when Firefox closes"
check everything else and in Accept third-party cookies, set Keep until: they expire

now its screen is black and i tried to reboot it but cant i press all buttons nothign happening and ipod is very hot even though its not connected to itunes any one can help me?First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
Finally, if the Restore doesn't work, let the battery drain completely. Then recharge for at least an hour and Restore again. -
While trying to restore os x and erase content on my MacBook pro, some problem about voice software came up and the computer asked me to restart and try again by clicking restart button. When I did this, the machine went to a gray start up screen with an apple and will not progress. I've waited more than 30 minutes and tried restarting again by holding the power button. Also, restore cd 1 will not eject so the computer will no longer move past the gray screen with spinning circle. Restore CDs had never beeused and were still in packaging in the original box. Ran hardware test just to check, and it came back as normal. Now what? I live nowhere near a genius bar :(

That's called a kernel panic...
Since the install disc won't eject, try starting up while holding down the C key. If the Mac won't boot while holding down the C key, try ejecting disc by either holding down the mouse while starting up or holding down the Eject key while starting up.
Try booting from your install disc so you can run Disk Utility in case the startup disk needs repairing.
Insert your install disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu and launch Disk Utility.
(In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first from the installer menu)
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
(Check S.M.A.R.T Status of HDD at the bottom of right panel. It should say: Verified)
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
When you are finished with DU, from the Menu Bar, select Utilities/Startup Manager.
Select your startup disk and click Restart
While you have the Disk Utility window open, look at the bottom of the window. Where you see Capacity and Available. Make sure there is always 15% free space.

Selecting the "No" button will tell Finder not to try and reopen the windows.
