DBConsole problem

Hi all,
I've installed 10.2.0.1, upgraded to 10.2.0.4 on Windows 2003 32-bit server. Created database using dbca, I got Enterprise Manager error that it has to be run manually.
I ran the below steps but it is not able to start the DBConsole for some reason....
emctl stop dbconsole - successful
emca -deconfig dbcontrol db -repos drop - successful
emca -config dbcontrol db -repos create - fails with below errors in the log

Oracle DBConsole Problem

I am facing a strange problem with my Oracle Database10g DBConsole.First of all the service starts sometimes from the Microsoft Windows MMC and sometimes does not.
Then if the service starts i get only the page that displays that datbase state cannot be determined although i am running the database service in my background and execute queries. When i click on the startup tag then i get a 'Page cannot be displayed error' and i find that my DBConsole process has stopped.
Can anyone explain why this happens and the fix for it. I am using Oracle Database 10g developers edition that is downlaodable from the OTN

It sounds like your dbconsole service failed to install properly. Try using the emca utility to reconfigure it.
emca -deconfig dbconsole db
emca -config dbconsole db
Navigate to your OracleHome\bin directory at the command prompt, and execute these two commands. When you execute the config, you will need the password for sys, system, and dbsnmp. You will also need to supply the sid, and the listener port number. It will ask you a couple of other questions as well.

Have DBConsole problem,

I am using win XP for home.
Has any one, been able to load and run 10G
with XP for home??
do I need to up grade to XP pro ????

Under > C:\oracle\product\10.1.0\db_1/oc4j/j2ee, just create another folder similar to the one it's looking for. This should fix your problem.
I tried that and I'm still getting an error. Here is
the error I get.

If you want and afford, you can setup database control on standby after failover in similar manner you did it on primary. Here what you can do to set it up, and fgllow the interactive instruction?
# su - oracle
-- Then set your sid
$> export ORACLE_SID=<sidname>
-- to create
$>emca -config dbcontrol db -repos create
-- to drop old one
$>emca -deconfig dbcontrol dbRegards

how to overcome this error

I remember R1 had some issues about synchronizing the agent with the correct status of the db. It was a real annoyance. Not using R1 for a long time, so I can't try it out myself.
One of many reasons to upgrade to R2.
Are you sure that the agent is configured with the correct listener port? Did you change the listener port number lately? If so, you may need to reconfigure the agent.
Did you try to restart everything?
Also, sometimes clearing the browser cache & relogin could help.
But I guess you tried these already.

"emctl deploy dbconsole" problem

I'm trying to install 10gR2 GC on WinXP machine with the target Oracle 10.1.0.4 on Win2K machine. Ive successfully deployed the agent:

Ooops, so what I have to do then on the host machine with the "emrep" repository?
if i'm typing http://dighome:18100/emd/ in my browser it asks me for:
"Enter username and password for "enterprise-manager" at http://dighome:18100"
i cannot figure out what is this enterprise-manager user? i don't remember myself implicitly creating the enterprise-manager user.. neither sys, nor system or windows admin users are excepted.
the http://dighome:4889/ link gives me the welcome screen to the Oracle Application Server
the http://dighome:18120/ link returns

i cannot understand what i'm doing wrong and where to find the correct port of repository (i thought the deploying the dbconsole will help me to get the same page as OEM gave, with only exception that it will reflect all my targets. )

Error in starting dbconsole

Actually I have gone through many posts based on this thread. but no one really have a proper solution for it ...I have a situation like this,
I have a 2 node cluster on 10RAC. I was able to access respective oem url's from both the nodes before. But now somehow I am not able to access the OEM url from the first node. I can still access the OEM url from other node. When I tried to troubleshoot, I noticed that it is dbconsole problem. I am getting error while starting the dbconsole as follows,

ADDM and performance analysis problem

Respected Everyone,
I am facing a problem, the detail is as under.
Few days back, my users complained about slow db response, when i opened the oem control page, i got to know the sysman user started a series of commands and consuming the cpu resources from the last 2 hours. i analyzed few commands running under the session and decided to kill it. After killing the session everything was ok, except one thing which i noticed after few hours that performance analysis is not refreshing the advices on the oem control general page.
What efforts i have done so far ?
1) i first started ADDM maually but even on ADDM result page, it showing the same old statictics.
2) i restarted the database, but of no use.
3) I restarted the machine thought it may be dbconsole problem but of no use.
Now guys kindly suggest me what should i do now.

i have seen in the metalink to set the timezone which might have got changed. but after running didn't get changed anything and this is on AIX 5.3 and since its day-light changing time

I am getting
Incorrect usage:

not able to reconfigure it.

As the command appears to be valid, this is likely a version-dependent issue, and better addressed by My Oracle Support.
Also you didn't include a version nor a platform, which is compulsory for any question on Oracle, as many issues are version specific or have version specific answers.

Problems with stopping dbconsole & iSQL+

I have 2 databases (10.2.01) on 1 Linux RedHat server. We needed to implement ESRI GIS that’s why we wanted to keep those DB separate – GIS is on 2nd DB.
I have problem with shutting down dbconsole & iSQL+:
dbconsole is starting normally, but on shutdown it gives error „Failed to shutdown DBConsole Gracefully”. Not sure if it happens coz of 2 DBs on same server, because I forgot to add something to config files or I 1ce accidentally restarted server while DB was set to shut down normally.
Reverting GIS DB to backup after making startup/shutdown script 1st box restart, but before box restart mid-normal DB shutdown didn’t change a thing.
Startup/shutdown script in “/etc/rc.d/init.d”:

I only managed to work around dbconsole by editing emctl.pid to match Enterprise Manager Agent Port for respective SID (not sure even if you can call that workaround), but emctl.pid seems to be random on dbconsole start.
I really don’t want to put any DB updates on until I manage to shutdown dbconsoles & iSQL+ properly… or maybe update IS the solution.
GIS DB is just created - no data on it. So I can delete it if its gona help, but Id prefer to solve this as experience never hurts (especially if Im gona have 2 DBs on 1 box).
I’m new to Oracle – been on Administration workshop & backup/recovery courses, but those problems don’t really feel like basic stuff so some tips on this would be welcome.

According to my little knowledge - i don't think Oracle is an AIDB. It is only RDBMS or rather you can call it Advanced RDBMS.
Now, you are thinking that since you have provided the relavant table here - so Oracle should automatically pic the single records. Since you have define every logic including the concept of primary key, foreign key in your table.
But, question is - did you apply the relationship in your join between the tables.
What does a primary key, foreign key do inside a table? Is it automatically select the unique rows from the join tables - when you didn't mention the join criterion.
If you think that - then you are wrong. My advice is - kindly go through the JOIN Concept.
Then start your coding. This is very dangerous way to start. Learn the basics at least.
So, what Senti suggested has a very much valid point.

I have Problems with starting em dbconsole after a fresh Installation

I have been having problems running EM console on Oracle 10g R2 on windows xp after a fresh installation and I did not receive any error messages while the Installation was going on. I was able to log into sqlplus successfully and I started the instance and em dbconsole (which started up successfully, but still yet , after logging into em dbconsole the status of the instance is still not running?
I still tried further to startup the instance, after entering my host credentials and sysdba account, I get this error message;;
Error
java.lang.Exception: Exception in sending Request :: null
What could possibly be the reason for this situation?

Thanks 4 responding to my enquiries, accidentally I had already gotten a tip from someone who suggested that I should turn off the dbcontrol and leave the database and listener running, then recreate the enterprise manager repository using the "emca.bat" utility.

Dbconsole/OEM Problems for 10g on XP

I am using $emctl start dbconsole, to start the service,
the service starts successfully ( after abt, 3 to 5 min) ... but after that i frequently get a "TNS Connection Closed" Error, and i cannot connect to the database ... but if i stop the dbconsole service, then am able to connect to the database and everything seems fine. Has anyone had a similar problem?

Hi I have the same issue. I upgraded the db from 9.0.2 to 10g, installed OEM Grid Control and now, when I try to login to EM, I get connection closed.

Here i am facing problem while starting "OracleDBConsoleoracle". oracle is my oracle_sid.
when am trying to start this service from services in windows it is showing the error... please see the below link..

New IP caused a problem to launch DBConsole & listener (Oracle 10gR2)

Guys,
I have installed Oracle 10gR2 on XP system. My dev machine does not have permanent IP address and recently it has been changed.
As a result I can launch Listener and Enterprise Manager - it‘s a problem to start OracleDBConcoledev01 and OracleOraDb10g_home1TNSListener.
My sid name is dev01. I found 2 folders where the old IP is involved:
<c:\oracle\ora1020\db01\192.168.188.71_dev01> and
<c:\oracle\ora1020\db01\oc4j\j2ee\OC4J_DBConsole_192.168.188.71_dev01>
I saw some articles, but didn’t find exact solution of my problem.
I would appreciate very much any help regarding steps I should go through to make my Oracle working again.

C:\> emca -repos recreateand press enter.
