Dear Apple: Can't recover data from iPad / no exploit for A5 bootrom

Dear Apple,
Looks like I'm not the only one who has had a failed upgrade to 6.1.3. Now my mother's iPad 2 is in recovery mode with 1000+ pictures lost in LaLaLand.
No recent backup, no iCloud.
I've done lots of research on how I can recover the data and the only possible way seems to be accessing the Ramdisk via SSH.
But there is no bootrom exploit for A5 devices, so it won't work.
Thanks Apple, I've lost photos of our family dog that passed this year, as well as photos from my grandmother's memorial service from this year.
I hope an Apple employee see's this...
Your process for upgrading iOS versions should be less prone to errors or failures. Required syncs or backups before upgrades should be required.
I could send my iPad to the main data recovery service Apple has partnered with... but I don't have $400 - $1200 to spend.
But even if I did, I would assume that only Apple has the power to access the data that is now in a digital vault, protected by their millions of dollars of revenue.
How can a top-leader in the consumer electronics industry let down so many of their loyal customers? Just google "recover data on iPad" or iPhone and you'll see that 1000's of people across the globe are having the same issue with iOS upgrades.
Please Apple, at least create a service to allow users to send in devices for data recovery. Only you have the power to "hack" into our devices.
Sincerly,
Forever lost memories?

Apple aren't here. This is a user to user forum.
You've lost your data because, as you said: "No recent backup, no iCloud." - that's your fault, no-one else's.
Backing up is necessary regardless of whether you are upgrading or not. Your iPad could've been stolen or damaged and you'd've lost the data the same. Apple provides you with at least 3 ways of retaining copies of your photos - you chose not to use them.
Call this a lesson learned in the consequences of not backing up as advised.

  • A message saying I had to restore my iPad to factory settings came up, can I recover data from previous back-ups?

Tonight, a message came up on iTunes came up saying I need to restore my iPad to factory settings came up. Is there any way I can avoid doing a factory restoration? If not, can I recover data from previous backups?

If you got the message that you need to connect to iTunes, there is no choice now but to restore the iOS software. Yes, you can restore from a backup after you restore the iOS software.
You can only restore now by connecting to your computer and using iTunes, and at the end of the restore process, you will be asked if you want to restore from your iTunes backup to which you will say yes and then sync your iPad as well. Syncing will transfer all of your apps, music, movie, books, photos etc, back to the device. If you do not backup and sync with iTunes, you can still restore from an iCloud backup after you restore the software in iTunes.

  • Can I recover data from a reformatted hard drive?  I did not do a back up prior to talking to Apple Support and the guy having me delete the hard drive and start anew.  My bad but is all lost??

Can I recover data from a reformatted hard drive?  I did not complete a back up prior to talking to Apple Support and the guy having me delete the hard drive (10.5.8) and start anew (10.6.3).  My bad but is all lost?? Years of very important information....

You will need to purchase reovery sofware such as such as FileSalvage
    http://subrosasoft.com/software/filesalvage
You can download a demo copy that will tell you what it can recover
If you want to recover that you must pay for the software then
When you do the recovery, you will need another disk drive to receive the recovered files
Having install a new operating system on the disk after the retformat is going to gradually reduce the amount of data that this software will be able to recover for you

  • Can I store photos from ipad while travelling for later download to my mac desktop

can I store photos from ipad while travelling for later download to my mac desktop

If you mean by using photo stream, you can but iCloud only keeps photo stream photos for 30 days.  You will need to download them to your Mac during this 30 day window or they will no longer be available.
Or, just leave the photos in the camera roll on your iPad until you return, then import them to iPHoto on your Mac as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083.

  • Can I recover data from an internal hard drive that I removed from my MB Pro?

A few months back my HD failed on my MB pro.  I have since then replaced this HD with a SSHD.  My question is can I recover this data from the old hard drive?  I remember when I was at the Genius Bar one of the techs told me there was a company I could send the HD to and they could recover the data.  Does anyone know of such a company?
    Thanks

here is one of many companies.  But it is expensive and not guaranteed.  http://www.drivesaversdatarecovery.com/

  • How can I recover photos from iPad to my Mac?

Hi! Have myself in a bit of a situation and I'm hoping there's an easy answer that I haven't found yet.
Last night, my external drive that I kept my media on died. No problem, right? I use Time Machine like a good boy...
...and then I see that TM excludes external drives automatically from backup. Oh heck. I can't believe I missed that. No backups of my years of media files.
So, that's not a problem with my music, redownloading everything using iTunes Match. All my photos are synced over to my iPad, and I figure, I'll resync them with iPhoto.
Not working. It'll show the last batch of photos I hadn't synced yet from my iPad, but that's it. It's like it thinks the old photos are still in the library, even though I just created the library file from scratch. (The original library file was lost.)
Is there a way I can get back my photos/albums/events back from my iPad and into iPhoto? I've backed up my photos from iCloud - is the solution there? or am I hopelessly screwed?
    Thanks!

That will be difficult. Your iCloud backup of the iPad will only include the photos in the Camera roll of your iPad, and you can only use it to restore the Camera Roll.
See: iCloud: Backup and restore overview
The albums, that you synced from your Mac to your iPad cannot be synced back - that is one-way, see:    iOS and iPod: Syncing photos using iTunes
You can't reimport pictures synced from your computer to your device back to your computer. You can only import pictures in the Camera Roll or Saved Photos from your device to your computer. If you need to retrieve synced photos from your device:
Since you can only import back from the Camera Roll, you need to share  the synced photos to the camera roll or email them. Or shre them to a shared photo stream to yourself, if your system supports shared photo streams.
You can connect your iPad to your mac using USB and download everything that is in the camera roll to iPhoto or Image Capture.
What is your MacOS X version on your mac? And the IOS version on your iPad?  Can you use shared Photo Streams?

  • How can I recover data from a USERS01.DBF file?

So I had a Hard Drive die and that took out the OS and the Oracle RDBMS Installation (Oracle9i Enterprise Edition, 9.2.0.6.0 on WinXP). Fortunately most of the data in the database (9.5GB worth) was in the USERS01.DBF file which was on another drive and unharmed. I was also able to salvage the CONTROL01.CTL file, but everything else from the database is corrupted and irretrievable.
I've just setup a new machine with the same version of Oracle and I created a brand new database with the same SID as before. I then tried to do:
    SQL> alter tablespace users offline temporary;
    Tablespace altered.
(then I swapped the USERS01.DBF file with the original one and then tried to recover it)
    SQL> recover tablespace users;
ORA-00283: recovery session canceled due to errors
    ORA-01110: data file 9: 'F:\ORAHOME\ORADATA\MYDB\USERS01.DBF'
ORA-01122: database file 9 failed verification check
    ORA-01110: data file 9: 'F:\ORAHOME\ORADATA\MYDB\USERS01.DBF'
ORA-01206: file is not part of this database - wrong database id
Is it even possible to do what I'm trying to? I had no backup of the USERS01.DBF file, but there should be some way to get at the data that is inside it...
any help or a pointer in the right direction is much appreciated.
    thanks
    -jeff

Whilst this isn't a direct answer, running any form of "recovery" will require archive logs, and it doesn't appear that you have archive logs related to this data file.
If you had your system.dbf file in addition to a control file and data file, I'd imagine might have enough to bring a database online using a "cold backup" type restore.
The specific error you show references the DBID in your data file does not reference the DBID in your control file. You don't appear to have restored your control file backup. This would make your existing .dbf files now not load, though a number of them can be rebuilt, not all of them can.

  • Can i recover data from an app to my new iphone ? (Sleep talk recordings)

Love the sleep talk app and i have some old recordigs i would like to recover. As they are not included when i synced the app to my new 4S, the only thing i can think of is restoring everything from my old iphone by syncing the old backup stored in itunes.
But i dont feel like doing that and i still dont know if that will me all the previous data and not just the apps themselves...

App data is part of the icloud and itunes backup.  Backup your daughters phone.
I don't think you can save it to your phone, unless the movie app states that you can.  Look at their support site.

  • Can I recover data from a Previous synch? - like one from 2 days ago, that has since been overwritten?

I set up synch account from my "main" computer. Then I had the passwords, bookmarks, etc copied over to a different computer.
I then deleted some of that information out of firefox on the 2nd computer and inadvertently resynched the data. Later I I resynched the main computer - which caused that data to be removed from the main computer. Is there a way I can recover that information from somewhere?

1.- Yes, you can sumarize data in other ODS. Connect both ODS and use aditions for key figures intead of overwriting.
2.- You can do it in load time, in update rules, is not necesary to wait for ODS was loaded

  • Can I recover data from a hard drive that has crashed?

My computer had frozen up so I had to restart it by holding down the power button. After I had done this, I kept getting a recurring kernel panic error. I had taken my MacBook the Apple Store and the tech who looked at it said that my hard drive was no longer good and that I would either have to replace it or purchase a new laptop. Regardless of whether I replace my hard drive or just purchase a new laptop, would there be any way to get my data that I lost off my old hard drive. I have some stuff backed up, but not recent data.
    I appreciate any advice. Thanks

You could try putting the old hard drive into an external hard drive case since it sounds like the drive isn't completely dead.
Here's a cheap SATA external hard drive case on Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/SATA-Hard-Drive-Case-Enclosure/dp/B001AAVA08/ref=pd_cp_e_0

  • Can I recover data from a flash drive that is no longer readable?

A flash drive that I left plugged into my MacBook Pro is no longer readable. Are there ways to recover the files that were (are?) stored there?

I see that the suggested programs are $80 to $100. Are there any cheaper alternatives or should I just throw this thumb drive away (all the data on it is backed up elsewhere)?
Is this normal for a thumb drive to fail?

  • If lost Ipad is wiped, can new Ipad recover data from iCloud

I lost my Ipad while traveling a couple of days ago.  I have it password protected and have 'find my lost ipad' active on it but it hasn't shown up yet.
I reported it but probably don't have any chance of recovering it.  If I select 'Erase Ipad'  in  find my lost ipad  to protect my personal information, when I buy a new Ipad will I still be able to recover my exising data from iCloud ?
    Thanks for the help.

You should. Erasing the wayward iPad will not delete the back up you have in iCloud, not should it delete iCloud synched items like your contacts and iwork documents.

  • Can i transfer data from existing apple ID to my  new apple ID?

i currently have a Ipad 2 registered under an Apple ID ( with my son 's email address),
bought a new Ipad Air,  would like to set up the new iPad Air  under a new Apple ID ( my email address)
how can i transfer the data from Ipad 2 ( from existing Apple ID with my son's email address )  t  new Apple ID that I will set up based on my
    own email address
    ectogo

This is why it is important to have backups of your media and other important files.
The Windows computer will not be able to read the files on the iPod because of the formating (at least that is my understanding).
The iPod will need to be formated to work with Windows.  The only way to do this is to wipe the device.
If you do not have a backup, do you know someone else with a Mac?  What you might be able to do is copy your music from the iPod to their Mac or a USB drive via their Mac.  Then you may be able to simply copy that music from the USB drive to your windows computer.  Do not take my word on this... I am only speculating about possibilities.  I do not own a Mac and have never used one, so not entirely sure this would work.

  • How can i import data to ipad from pc ?

how can i ımport data to ipad from pc ?

It would help if you said what sort of data you want to transfer - documents, spreadsheets, powerpoint, etc .
In order to transfer files to the iPad you will first need one or more apps on the iPad that supports those file types - without an app the files cannot be saved (apart from as email attachments), as unlike 'normal' computers the iPad doesn't have a file system and files/documents have to be stored/associated with an app. Once you've got an app then, depending on what it is, transfer might be done via the file sharing section at the bottom of the iPad's apps tab when connected to your computer's iTunes, via wifi, email attachments, Dropbox etc.
If you want to transfer/support Word and Excel documents then Documents To Go is one option (http://itunes.apple.com/au/app/documents-to-go-office-suite/id317117961?mt=8) and how to transfer to/from it is described on this pagehttp://support.dataviz.com/support.srch?docid=14497&pid=198 (the 'premium' version of the app also supports editing Powerpoint files instead of just viewing them)
Apple's Pages app supports Word documents :http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/pages/id361309726?mt=8 (how to transfer files http://help.apple.com/pages/ipad/1.4/#tanb5b5c055)
and their Numbers apps supports Excel documents :http://itunes.apple.com/au/app/numbers/id361304891?mt=8#(transferring files http://help.apple.com/numbers/ipad/1.4/#tanb5b5c582)

IiTunes is telling me it can't sync data from my iPhone or iPad at the moment. Any ideas why, please?

Your iPhone's iOS must be same or newer than the one in backups. In your case it is older so you need to update your iPhone and then recover it with backup.
