Debugging source code in Web-Inf

Dear All Java Expert,
I'm using Forte 3.0 and debugging source code for different web application folder. example ..\webapps\APPS1 and ..\webapps\APP2.
Ok, my problem is i was unable to 'share and debug' same servlet file over 2 web application.
Example, a.java located at ..\webapps\APPS1\Web-INF\Classes\a.java and shared by APP2. The problem is when APP2 having problem i need to copy the java file frm APPS1 to APPS2 web-inf folder for debugging.
I'm still new using the IDE debugging features, any eXperience people pls don't be hesitate to reply.

What exactly is the problem?
You want APPS1 and APPS2 to share the same Servlet code?
If so, you need to think through what you are doing. Consider this scenario; I point my web browser to www.wikey.com/APPS1 and the servlet in \webapps\APPS1 returns a response. I point my web browser to www.wikey.com/APPS2 and APPS2 returns a response.
That's what we pretty much expect to happen.
Now let's say you put the code in a file called BOTH. If I point my web browser to www.wikey.com/BOTH, then it launches the servlet named BOTH. That's reasonable. However, if BOTH consists of code from APPS1 and APPS2 in the same class, then the web server has absolutely no idea which block of code to call.
However, you can make it www.wikey.com/BOTH?doRoutine=APPS1 where it will launch the APPS1 specific code. But why bother? Why not just launch APPS1 directly?
So to answer your question, there's no real advantage to having two different URLs point to the same Servlet. Consequently, there's no real advantage to having a debug URL point to to a production URL's Servlet, i.e., no point in sharing code for debugging purposes.
So the question you want to ask is, "Is there a macro in Forte 3.0 that will allow people to make copies of all the source files in one folder, place those copies in another folder AND set up the URL and environments correctly?"
The answer is - not that I'm aware of. If you want such a capability, you should code it yourself. But even in Microsoft Windows, it only takes a few seconds to select the folder and do a cut-and-paste copy, then rename the files.
Incidently, this is totally different than putting common class files in a common directory, modifying the class path, and allowing two separate servlets to import those classes.

  • How to include source code in web dynpro java deployment

    Hi,
    We dont have NWDI.
    We are creating ear files out of web dynpro applications packaging them as sca files and deploying them in server.
    But the source  code is not included in ear.
    How to include source code with your ear/sca , so that when anyone downloads the sca file later, they are build the Project in the studio.
    How would they typically download? Do they require NWDI ,
    Right now we dont have NWDI in place, but we want to do is parcel the applications such that the source code should be available at a later time for download.
    This is possible with .par files , but what about web dynpro?
    Thanks,
    Deb

    If you are not using NWDI use the _comp file.

  • How to read the source code

    Hi,
    I want to know how to read the source code of web dynpro java from the source folder i.e. without loading the project in NWDS. Please answer me as soon as possible.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Aniruddha

    Hi,
    If you are using DC's then you can find the .Java files in the path
    <project Name>\_comp\gen_wdp\packages\<Pacjage>\<ComponentName>\..
    In the above path you can find the Java files of the controllers.

  • Modifing source code in Business Packages

    Is it correct that one is allowed to change the source code for web dynpro based business packaged?
    I've heard that SAP do not deliver source code for htmlb based packages, but for the web dynpro based packages they do.
    How about the licence agreement in these to cases?
    Bjorn

    Hi Bjorn:
    SAP actually provided the source code for the standard webdynpro application such as ESS or MSS. It is necessary as for appliying a modification. SAP requires you do it modifiying the source code as it is happening with ABAP Code.

  • Debugging classes under web-inf

    Hi,
              I have been working with JBuilder 4.0 and wl 5.1\6.0 for some time now and
              was able to debug all of my code while it was in the weblogic classpath (or
              any other top level class loader).
              I have recently moved all of my web-based classes to the web-inf\classes
              directory, where they should be ... (I did that so a simple deploy\undeply
              of my web-application is all I need when I have fixes to my web-based source
              code, and of course to follow the spec).
              What happened is that now when I attach to the WL using the JBuilder, the
              JBuilder doesn't recognize any of the classes in the web-inf\classes. If you
              know JBuilder then it sets the breakpoint as if it never reaches the code
              (even if I ran it once before attaching).
              From this behavior I understand that JBuilder knows only the classes in the
              weblogic\jvm classpath.
              First I would like to know if this behavior is correct, or I'm simply doing
              something worng (which is quite likely).
              And second I'd like to know what can I do so I'll be able to debug them as
              they are (and please don't tell me to put the classes back where they were,
              up in the class loaders hierarchy, I gathered that much by myself).
              Thanks,
              Asher.

    Hi,
    i have the same Problem and i can't a solution anywhere.
    I have one ejb-jar successfully deployed on WLS 6.1 and copied alle ejb-interfaces into /WEB-INF/classes of the web application (no ear or war-files are used).
    For jsp-compiling these classes are found and used but at runtime the jsp's cannot find the interfaces and throw NoClassDefFoundErrors.
    I also tried to use the ClassPathServlet (described in http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs61/webapp/components.html#139205 ), but the classes are not found too.
    Please help. I thing it is inadequate to put the ejb-interfaces into the server's classpath too.
    Thanks

  • Eclipse - debug step is not synchronise with source code.

    Hi,
    I have an web application witch run on tomcat, when Idebug the application, the debug steps are not synchronize with the source code. Same thing when I change the code , after making the jar file and putting it in the WEB-INF/lib of the web application, the modifications didn't take place. It seem that the old code always remains. I looked at the compile class in the jar file and the modifications have been taken in to account.
    what can cause this kind of behavior ? I relaunch tomcat many times without succes ?
    any help ? thanks a lot.

    Can it be the case that you compile your JAR optimized, i.e. without debug information? Then your classes are also without debug information.
    This sounds very likely as a refresh problem. Be sure that both source files in Eclipse and class files in Tomcat have the same version (e.g. with simple system.out).

    JLundan,
    I want to thank you for responding to the thread I started on the forum at java.sun.com. Your solution to my problem of needing to print the code of the html pages that the file I included generates was just what I was looking for. However, I have some further questions to ask, if you don't mind. To clarify my task I should say that your rephrasing of the problem is accurate: "You wan't to display the contents of the HTML file that the web server produces in response of client's request?"
    Yes, this is what I need to do, but also it needs to display the source code of that html file that the server produces in response to the client's request. Also, in this case, I am the client requesting that the server return some html file, and I'm not sure where the server is. But the webserver.java file that I shared on the forum is on my local machine. I was wondering if I could modify this webserver.java file at my home so that any html file the server returns to me would automatically display the source code. This is a school project of mine and I am stuck on this one thing here.
    Further, where would I put the "foo.html" file so it can be written to?
    FileOuputStream fos = new FileOutputStream("foo.html");
    fos.write(bytes);
    fos.close();
    Thanks so much for your help. I look forward to your response, at your convenience.
    Regards

  • I am running 10.6.8 and using iweb for my web site. After several SEO analysis they all indicate I need H1-6 header tags. After looking at the source code I see there are none in iweb. Is it necessary to add? If so, how do I add H Tags to iweb.

    I am running 10.6.8 and using iweb for my web site. After several SEO analysis they all indicate I need H1-6 header tags. After looking at the source code I see there are none in iweb. Are they necessary to add?  Why would one add these tags and how do I add H Tags to iweb? And are there examples to look at? I am slowly learning about simple web design and assumed that iweb was stand alone without having to write code. Is this one of the reasons iweb is no longer supported? Thanks for looking at this!

    A simple text page like this:
    Heading
        sub heading
              text paragraph ....
    Is traditionally represented by html tags like:
    <h1>Heading</h1>
         <h2>sub heading</h2>
              <p>text paragraph ... </p>
    I would guess that the use of h1-h6 tags helps search engines to understand the structure of a page as the tags imply a certain structure.
    This can be compared to more generic tags like <div> that could represent any kind of content - and may be what iWeb uses (you'll have to check yourself).
    I would generally recommend that you use some kind of up to date blog/site building tool, perhaps Wordpress or Squarespace (I haven't used either one myself) that support current web technologies - this should reduce your SEO issues and make it easier to properly support mobile/tablet users.

  • Source code for "Creating an Extended Web Dynpro Application"?

    Hello!
    I'm a rookie in the field of SAP Netweaver and I'm justing getting started with some tutorials. My problems with "Creating an Extended Web Dynpro Application" are to massive to be posted on this forum in this stage. What I want to have some help with is to find the source code for that tutorial so I can get som guidence from there.
    Following text is cut out of this page:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/5d/f42fef2eec724597a03b6bcc670c2c/frameset.htm
    Creating an Extended Web Dynpro Application
    You can download the Web Dynpro project for the current tutorial from the Software Developer Network SDN (http://sdn.sap.com -> Web Application Server -> Web Dynpro -> Sample Applications and Tutorials) in two versions: one skeleton version you can use for exercises and one final version (solution) for an immediate build, deployment and run on the Java engine of the SAP Web Application Server.
    How hard I try I can't find the specific source code on sdn.sap.com
    Does anyone have a clue where it is?
    Thanks!
    Best regards
    /Johan Månsson Lindströ

    Hi!
    I did what you said but I seem to miss the IDE folder. This is what it looks in my Explorer
    C: > Program Files > SAP > IDE > CE > eclipse > (no folder called "examples")
    I also did a search in this eclipse folder for "examples" but I did'nt find the example I'm looking for
    I am running a newer version of NWDS:
    SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio
    SAP NetWeaver 7.1 Composition Environment SP03 PAT0000
    Maybe that's why things don't look the same?

  • Unable to depoly Web Serivce for the source code written in other editors

    Hi all,
    I am planning to implement webservice with the following code. But I am facing few problems with this can some body help me with this.
    The code looks like this AND IS NOT WRITTEN IN Jdeveloper BUT EDITPLUS
    package package1;
    public class Sum
    public int getSum(int a, int b)
              return a+b;
    package package2;
    public class Sub
    public int getSub(int a, int b)
              return a-b;
    package package3;
    import package1.*;
    import package2.*;
    public class Mul implements TestInterface
         Sum sm = new Sum();
         Sub sb = new Sub();
    public int getMul(int a, int b)
              return sm.getSum(a,b)*sb.getSub(a,b);
    public static void main(String [] args)
              Mul ml = new Mul();
              System.out.println(“The result of (3+6)*(3-6) is “+ ml.getMul(3,6));
    package package3;
    interface TestInterface extends java.rmi.Remote;
         public int getMul(int a, int b) throws java.rmi.RemoteException;
    I have written this in editplus. Not in Jdeveloper.
    Now I want publish getMul() as web service using Jdeveloper.
    I have created a new application work space. And from File--&gt;New
    I have choose project from existing source and imported “package3”.
    At this stage it was unable to find the class files Sum and Sub so I placed Sum.class and Sub.class in Appliction1-Project1-classes-
    Now the Mul class did not have any errors and it compiled fine. When run it gave the correct output.
    Using the web service wizard I was able to generate wsdl file , deployment descriptors etc.
    The problem I was facing was form this stage when I am trying to deploy it on to a standalone oc4j server it is not able generate the WebServices.war file and hence is not deployed on to the server.
    With the same code written in Jdeveloper everything is working fine.
    My doubts are
    1)     why is it not able to generate WebService.war file?
    2)     It is giving some ClassNotFound exception during the deployment. But when compiled and run its giving the correct output.
    3)     Even when everything was written from within the Jdevelper it did not include Sum.calss and Sub.class in WebSevice.war. Is there any way we could mention during its (WebService.war) generation , the class files to be Included.
    The other issue is how to add an existing source code to already existing project. In my case Once I have imported package3 I also want to import package2 and package1 in different steps.
    I thank in advance for helping me.
    Raja Vamshi k Gopu

    Can you tell us what you mean by correct type of project?
    You can start with an empty project. Then, you have to create an "EAR file" deployment profile (New Gallery / General / Deployment Profiles).
    So when I deploy a J2SE module onto oc4j server should I specify the class path? If so where ? How can I solve this problem?
    Once you deploy your code into oc4j, it becomes a J2EE application. You don't need to deal with the classpath - just make sure that all the required code is included in your .war file. To do so, check the list of classes packaged under the deployement properties dialog.
    Can you send me the links of few articles where I can learn more about these kind of stuff?
    If you want to assemble applications without to use JDeveloper wizard, you have another option: using the WebServiceAssembler tool that is par of the oc4j bits will help you to do this from a command line promt, and will handle the J2EE packaging aspect for you.
    See online documentation (10.1.2): http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_04/web.htm
    In the "Developer's Guide", chapter 9 is about "Web Services Tools"
    For JDeveloper J2EE samples, you can start by looking at the OBE: http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe_as_1012/j2ee/index.html
    Hope this helps,

  • Using a Variable from web-inf/web.xml in java code?

    I would like to create a read-only variable with a value in the /web-inf/web.xml file and then access that value within a java service method within the Application Module.
    Where / how do I read the value from the web.xml file and make it accessible within my java code?
    thanks

    Hi,
    you can define context parameters in web.xml that you can access from Java in the web application
    The following is a JSF examle that checks a context parameter in a PhaseListener, where the string is stored ina Java constant (could be "myParam")
    ExternalContext exctx = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getExternalContext();
    useSessionPageCache = exctx.getInitParameter(Constants.USE_PAGE_CACHE) == null ? false :
    (exctx.getInitParameter(Constants.USE_PAGE_CACHE)).equalsIgnoreCase("TRUE") ? true : false;
    From here you can call a method on the AM to set the value or look for another option.

  • How to edit Java source code of a generated Web Service?

    I generated a Jax RPC (1.4) Web Service using the JDev Wizard . Everything works fine. But now I need to make some changes in the business logic contained in the source code. The problem is there is no easy way to get to the source code - JDeveloper shows the web service but right clicking on it only lets me go to the WSDL or Mapping file - not the Java source.
    So - how do I get to the source.
    I could do a file -> open and open up the java file and edit it - but this seems like a round about way . Why doesn't JDev let me go back to the Source code easily?
    It does provide a Regeneate from Source option but there is no way (as far as I could tell) to actually jump back into the source code after I've generated the Web Service.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    just to confirm that Jan is ight. If you seect the generated WSDL icon, which is shown in the Application Navigator, open the Structure Window and you'll see all teh generated interfaces and sourcefiles, as well as your WebService file.
    Alternatively you can use teh System navigator which will show all files in one view (ctrl+shift+N)

  • How can one encrypt the source code of a given web page(html, jsp, etc.) ?

    Good Day! I'm just having a hard time of thinking how to encrypt the source code of a given web page(html, jsp, etc.) without affecting how it is previewed in an Internet Browser. What I plan is to disable the capabilities of some malicious Internet users of copying the source codes of my web pages by using the "View Source" option of Internet Explorer and the equivalent function in Netscape Navigator. Please somebody help me in this matter (I'm planning to use an IDEA algorithm using JCE)....
    It would be big help if a running code is supplied.
    Thank you very much in advance.
    God Bless!!!
    - Jonathan Untalan([email protected])

    don't know theses softs. What i know about encrypted web pages, is that you need a secure socket connection (https).
    Your web page will be ciphered, send to the user, and decipher by the browser with the signature file associated to your https connexion.
    It isn't possible to encrypt your page directly, and then decrypt them when requested.
    For the download time, only the server is responsible for this.
    if it is overloaded, then it will slow down its upload.
    Maybe you use some encryption method that require a lot of CPU time.
    For summary : you can only cipher the pipe transport, but not the transported pages.
    Good luck in your search.

  • ABAP source code to connect to third party systems using web service calls?

    Hi all,
              can any one provide an example ABAP source code to connect to third party systems using web service calls? The base system is CRM.

    Do you want to call a web service in a remote system, or do you want to provide a web service?
    If you want to call a web service you should create a proxy object via SE80. Open your development package, right click on the tree entry and choose: Create -> Enterprise Service / Web Service -> Proxy Object and provide the needed information (including the WSDL description file). You may then use the proxy object to call the web service (if the connection and everything else works right).
