Default image to print in PSE 9

In PSE 9 editor, if you have multiple images in the project bin, one of them has a blue box around it, and it's not necessarily the active one in the edit window. If you go to print the image you're working with (the active one), PSE will instead want to print the one with the blue box. So you have to close the print dialog, select the correct image, and start the print process again. This is asinine. How do I set up PSE 9 so it will default to print the active image?
Thanks

Well, I usually work with the project bin closed so the active image is larger. I'm trying to get away from having to do what you're saying. After all, "the one I want" is the one I'm working on.
I can't figure out why in the world they even did that; why would I want to print a different image from the one I'm currently working on?!!! I mean, how many people say, "Okay, this one looks pretty good, so now I think I'll print one that I was working on an hour ago?" If I want to print my current image along with a different one, why not let me add the other one? That makes sense; the current method makes none at all.
Thanks for your reply.

    Hi, Jordan -
    Welcome to Apple's Discussions.
If the original drive in the newer Mac is a Western Digital, its jumpers may be set to Single, which WD drives often use when there is only one device on the bus. When a second drive is added, the jumpers on the original must be reset to Master.
OS 9's utility is named Drive Setup - you should find it in the Utilities folder on the hard drive. Run that. Select the added hard drive in the list, then select Mount Volume from the Functions menu.
You can also check with that utility to see if the OS believes the drive has been set to automount at boot. Again, select the drive in the list. Then select Volume Settings from the Functions menu - there's a checkbox in that screen to set automount (for freshly initialized drives, that's turned on by default).
Also, try running Disk First Aid (should also be in the Utilities folder). Let it have a look at the second drive, and repair anything it can.
Apple System Profiler should report the format of all drives it sees. Is the format of the drive from the old Mac stated as Mac OS Standard, or as Mac OS Extended?

  • White lines appear around placed images in printing.

A native Illustrator document with placed Photoshop (both CS6) images produces whites lines around the placed images when printed.  The Illustrator document does not show white lines on screen.  Nor does the PDF (Acrobat X Pro) generated from the IA doc show white lines when viewed on screen.  When the document goes to press, the printed product show the white lines:
See upper left image and lower right image-note: other images are not affected.  Both both are native Photoshop images, placed on a gradient in IA.  Perhaps the PDF settings: "Adobe PDF Preset" or "Standard" are not chosen correctly?  Why the white lines?

You screenshot shows a modified Illustrator Default preset with Compatability to Acrobat 4. That setting always flattens transparency which is what I would suggest avoiding first.
Note the Warnings summary alerts that transparency will be flattened.

    Yes

    1. Transparency.  Is this an automatic occurence in generating the PDF?  Can I turn it on/off? (The 'Save Adobe PDF' window that allows changes to: General, Compression, Marks & Bleeds,Output,, Advanced.....)
Transparency is part of some design and all Effects. Note that you can change a color by using a tint or by setting it's transparency. Many times a tint will suffice. It looks the same and has the same values.
Your original screenshot apears to use images with clipping paths. (Full disclosure - I should know this, but don't...I expect) clipping paths require/invoke the transparent background to place the images within the colored area.
You cannot get around transparency but flattening converts vector objects to raster objects (when transparency touches/abuts/interacts with raster images).
You should be able to use the Illustrator Default, High Quality Print or PDFX-4 to maintain live transparency
2 very old (2004) Adobe white papers, not too legnthy which I can shed some light. Note - PDFX-4 superceeds all of these.

  • Borderless printing from PSE 7 Editor

Having some trouble printing borderless 4x6 images from the Editor in PSE 7, (I prefer printing from the Editor over the Organizer due to its higher quality output).  I've tried a myriad of different settings from the Elements print dialogue window and am unable to consistently print images without some border being present, either just on one side, or on a top and side together.  Sometimes I can successfully print without the borders, but then when using the same settings on another image, I'm frustrated to see some type of border return.  The image in the print preview window will also vary from one image to the next, sometimes with borders, and sometimes without, however even when no borders are present in the preview, they'll still be there sometimes in the print. Never had a problem like this with Elements 4; using an Epson R1900, with printer driver set to borderless. If anyone else has encountered this, or has suggestions on what to do, I'd love to hear from you.  Thanks!

Yes seems this is a bug. I will try using printing in PSE 8.0 when it will be released.

  • Printing in PSE 4.0 vs 8.0

Having used Photoshop Elements 4.0 for some time, I recently decided it was time to upgrade to Version 8.0 which I did about a few weeks ago.
My photo printer is an Epson Artisan 800 which I am very happy with.
When I print with Version 4.0, my printed photos are spot on color and excellent.  However, when I print the exact same photo with Version 8.0, the printed photo is much too dark and totally unacceptable.
I bought Barbara Brundage's book "The Missing Manual" for PSE 8.0 and read the section on Color Management and tried changing some settings but it didn't seem to help.  There must be some differences in the settings between the two versions but I cannot seem to figure them out.
I just want my photos to print in 8.0 like they do in 4.0.
    Can anyone help please?
    Thank you.
    Alan

    Hi Barbara ..
The colors seem OK now (don't know why)... but now I get equally spaced vertical lines with PSE 8. See the attachement.  I scanned in two photos ....  the top image was printed from PSE8 and the bottom from PSE 4.
In the top image .. notice the vertical line going the front leg of the table and thru the top of my grandson's hand.  Those are the most discernable in the scans I made but they are thru the entire width of the photo equally spaced apart.
Notice that the bottom photo made with PSE 4 is perfect ... no lines at all.
BTW .. just to be sure it wasn't a computer problem, I tried PSE 8 on two computers .. one running XP and the other running Windows 7.  Results are the same.
Also, I get the same results no matter what the color settings seem to be and I tried all three.
    You're thoughts?
Does Adobe have a website where I can send these these pics and ask them?
    I'm really frustrated.
    Thanks

  • Converting raw images to jpegs using PSE 11

I have started to capture only RAW images from my Sony NEX 7 camera. However, I wish to be able to send JPEG images to my friends ( prior to RAW editing ). How do I convert/copy my RAW images to JPEGs using PSE 11?
    Thanks
    Derek

After you're done in camera raw (or in your case, without doing anything, but you'll just get the default conversion, because you MUST convert the files), click the Open button, then save in the format of your choice in the editor. JPEG is an 8 bit format so you will want to either set the raw converter's pulldown menu to 8 bits or you will need to go to Image>Mode> 8 bits/channel in the editor. If you're emailing, you can also use Save for Web to size them down if necesary.
If you use the organizer, you can just use file>export as new files and be sure to send the jpgs someplace easy to find.

  • Failure to print from PSE 9.0 on MAC to Epson XP-800

I cannot print photographic images with my desktop MAC (OS X10.8.4) from Photoshop Elements 9.0 to my new Epson XP-800 printer. Printing is not a problem with Word text or images from iPhoto- it is only with PSE that there is a problem.  The problem persists even if I try using a cabled connection rather than WiFi.  I have ensured latest software from Epson has been downloaded.  This problem did not occur when using the same system with the previous printer (Epson Photo Stylus 1290).
Any suggestions for solving this rather than just a workaround of moving the edited PSE image back to iPhoto & printing from there (which admittedly does work but shouldn't be necessary).
    Grateful for any help.
    Stuart

    Hi Barbara B
Thanks very much for this suggestion.
I followed this advice, both deletions and permission repairs.  This did allow me to print from PSE for the first time - very pleased with this.  Unfortunately the colour reproduction has now gone haywire (having been very good) and there are vertical lines on prints - this now applies to both PSE & iPhoto (the latter worked well before)
Any further suggestions?  I feel we are close to cracking it but do not really understand what to try next. Please help if you can. Many thanks.

  • Color prints in PSE 9 not accurate.

    Hello,
I've been having trouble printing color prints with PSE 9.  They appear kind of pale or less vivid (unacceptably so), the colors are just not as they appear on my monitor.  I'm using an Epson R2880, iMac 10.6.8.   It prints b&w beautifully.  I've been through Epson tech support, checked nozzles and cleaned heads.  While speaking with Espon they suggested I print from another application, so I tried using iPhoto, colors came out accurately there.  I happen to still have PSE 8 still on my computer, so I attempted to print from there, the colors were also more accurate there (and that's without using the ICC profiles I have in PSE 9 ).  It seems the issue is unique to PSE 9.  I've tried changing my color setting, typically I have it set to AdobeRGB, but have tried "no color management".  I have my monitor calibrated, use proper ICC profiles for any papers I use (and have tried multiple papers).  Any suggestions on what the issue may be?

As well as having PSE set to AdobeRGB, is the image also set to that colour space (It will have an asterisk after the color setting  - RGB/8*)?
    Have you tried sRGB settings?
I note your comment about the ICC Profiles but quickly checking my Scott Kelby PSE7 book  he says he uses an R2880 but that it didn't install color profiles for all the Epson papers. Have you been to Epsons website and downloaded and installed ALL the appropriate profiles?
    Cheers,

  • Lines on image when printing Raw files

    Dear All
I am trying to print Raw images.
After converting and making my adjustments, I click on File > print (in the PSE editor) and then use the cursor to drag out the image to the size I want (roughly a 10 inch by 8 inch image to be printed on A4 paper). I then print it and it comes out with loads of parallel lines on the image.
    Any advice to correct this?
    Regards
    Jon CAmilleri

    Hello All
I am managing to print out raw files fine after manipulating them in canons own software (Digital photo professional) but still getting bands when using PSE 7 raw converter? Any more advice?
When sending to print in PSE a box comes up saying 'Some post-script specific settings (interpolation, calibration, encoding) will be ignored as you are printing to a non-postscript printer'  This box does not come up when printing from digital photo professional. Could this be the problem resulting in bands on the image and, if so, can it be corrected?
Someone mentioned about Gamut problems - how do I alter/correct these?
Also, with Raw files, after I have manipulated them (e.g to black and white) how can I perform other tasks (eg dodge and burn areas)  as it seems that PSE wont let me do this on a RAW image.
Do I have to save it as a JPEG first ?   If so, what is the point in taking a RAW image in the first place if I am going to lose detail by converting it to a JPEG?
    Sorry for all the questions
    Regards
    Jon

  • Printing with PSE 8 for Mac

    Hi,
hope some of you may give me some help.
Have tried to print with PSE 8 for Mac, but in the printing options there is none where i can choose the type of paper (ie: glossy, premium glossy....).
My printer is an Epson Stylus Photo 1400.
It works fine with iPhoto, here i can choose paper type. And prints come out fine.
    Thanks for any advice,
    dangerly

My printer is a Canon so not entirely sure if this helps but when I print from PSE 8 I do not get to choose the media type until I have clicked on the print button in the PSE dialog box. I am then presented with the dialog box for my printer where I can set the media type amongs other attributes.
It is normal for the media type to be the job of the printer driver so perhaps it is the same for your printer.

  • Image not printed in SapScript, only after page break

    Hi,
I have a problem in printing an image (stored as text) in a sapscript. The image was uploaded correctly from a TIF file in tcode SE78. The image contains a signature and I need to print it at variable positions within the form. That is I need to print it in the MAIN window. The image does not get printed when a page break occurs when outputing the text element containing the picture. If the page break occurs when outputing any (other) text, the image is printed correctly (after that text).
Has anybody else encountered this problem? Could it be a sapscript bug?
    Thx in advance.

  • Problems with HP printer and PSE 11 (was bill v)

When using my HP 7020e photosmart printer and Adobe photoshop elements 11, I get a very small white border on the prints. I have set for borderless printing. Adobe says the print size is 4.2 x 6.18 instead of 4 x 6. Any suggestions?

I had already set it to borderless but it still prints a very small white
border. HP had no solution. I am ready to send the printer back to them.

  • Set default image for no image found

    Hi Folks,
I have a folder full of images and when en images is called form that directory and not found I would like the default image to show up.
I have added an HTAccess file with this content:
    ErrorDocument 404 default.jpg
And added a default.jpg image in the directory.
I have used this approach successfully on a few other sites but in this instance when I open a page with a missing photo I still get the standard ugly missing image icon. However, if I open that image in a new tab I get a page with the text 'default.jpg' on it.
NOt sure why that happens but I guess it's something about it being a different hosting set up. Perhaps there is another way to do this that will work on this set up.
Anyone got an idea how I can fix it?
    Cheers
    Dave

If I remember well, in the Report Attributes, you should select the linked column. At the link image, there are 2 edit images(the default is the big one), but there is one more image which is smaller.
    Hope it helps.

  • How do you change the default image at the login screen??

I want to change my default image that is at the login screen. The image is also in the desktop display(so i can set it as my background), but those are the only two places I can find it. Is there a way I can delete the image from my computer?

Well quick and dirty is to replace the applelogo.tif file with a .tif of your own.
