Default inspection Type In the Material Master

We have to assign two -three inspection types in the material master. How to default this inspection types in the material master always .

Dear JJ
This you will have to do by putting validation in the material master. I dont think you have a standard solution for that.
Or esle you can run QA08 wherein you can assign inspection type enmass.
Please let meknow your feedback

QM: Inspection Setup in the Material Master

Hi all!
A quick novice user query: In SAP ERP Quality Management, I was creating an inspection lot for a material and it prompted me to first add an inspection type for it. I went to the Inspection Setup in the Material Master, entered the material, the plant, check activate inspection, selected an inspection type and hit execute. But it keeps giving me "No entries found". Any help?

Your query does not provide complete info as to what type of inspection origin you're trying.
Anyway as a thumb rule ensure that the setup in material master exists, i.e. the relevant inspection origin type. Ensure the tickbox for active exists. Also the corresponding data such as inspection plan / material characteristic etc. exists along with the required setup.
Once the above is in place you can proceed with the QM flow. In addition to this I would also suggest do a search in QM forums to know more about how to maintain the data, what needs to exist etc. Also go thru' SAP help.

Default Storage location from the Material master

Can we default the storage location from the material master into the reservation line item in trasaction MB21?

enter the production storage location in material master MRP2 view.

Creation of Batch Class in (CL01)
Assignment of above created classed characteristic to the Batch Class at the time of class creation. (CL01)
Assignment of batch class to material master in classification view. (MM01)
Creation of MIC with reference to above created Class characteristic (QS21)
Creation of inspection plan with above MIC (QP01)
Follow your business process cycle for creation of inspection lot
Result recording and usage decision (QA32)
You can see in MSC2N that batch characteristic will get updated.

Usage of 'Average Inspection Duration' in the Material Master QM view?

Hi,
facing user requirements that you should be able to consider the QM stock in the ATP calculations in a special way, I want to have some feedback re the usage of this Material Master field. The user actually would like to have the parts available in the Sales Order scheduling line after a specific number of days, when having run the ATP job. The ATP Config is set to include QM stock in the run (and they do not want to change that), so presently the system promise deliveries in the SO, but it can not be done! Nice solution should have been the for instance set a delivery after the planned number of days for inspection as set in the MM QM view! The only usage I have seen so far of this field is that the planend insp date range is visibale alike in tr code QA32, but that is more admin info, not causing hands-on effects.
So two questions:
What hands-on effect does this MM QM field entry have in R/3?
Any suggestion how to solve this user wish re ATP logic??

DO the GR with certicate received no
See the status of insp lot CTCM- certificate conf missing
But you cannot do GR as it is disaloowed
Proceed as below
Goto QC51 and give PO and item no and click ok
Select the appropriate line and click copy
Here you change the certificate status that 5 i.e. certificate field and inspected, mention the certificate date and save
Now see the status of insp lot CROK- certificate receipt confirmed.
Now do UD, it will go through.

Using 05 inspection type, all the materials moves to inspection lot

Dear SAP Gurus,
Using the 05-inspection type in material master for by product material, all the material goes to inspection lot.
how to control the inpection lot movement, i have set a plan that the inspection will be carried through a workcenter,but it moves all the materials to inspection lot.
Since all the materials are moving to inspection lot, i have changed my inpsection type to 02 (goods issue), but the problem is, i couldn't able to record the results for the created inspection lot.
Kindly guide me and correct my process flow,

Sorry for not so clear ....
My scenario is that, the user requires to have a inspection lot for their By-Product. during the production order, after manufacturing say 30000 material, for them the 30000 material should directly posted to the unrestricted usage and a sample maerial should go to inspection lot, where same will be inspected and transfered to unrestricted usage, through QA32.
Based on their requirement, i have set the inspection type -05 in material master and a workcenter specifically created for the quality testing, so that a sample quantity can be produced and flows to the inpection lot,
but it doesnt works,the produced materials are all going to inspection lot.
Kindly guide me on this,

Inspection type's maintained in the material master

Hello,
I want to know the transaction code using which I can check the inspection type's maintained in the material master.
I do not want to go per material put in mass. I know that I can pull the data from tables but i do not want that.
I want the standard SAP transaction code.

Well, you could make the argument that using SQVI to create a query and making this report available to select users is not really development. It is a standard SAP transaction and users can be limited to only running certain queries. Groups of queries can be created and users assigned to groups. By adding variants that users can't modify and locking certain fields in the variant you can limit the queries to a maximum number of records. Usually the argument is that a user will create a massive query or set values that return too many values. Both of these concerns can be addressed.
I don't think a lot of people understand the full capabilities of SQVI. You don't have to give users unlimited access to the transaction!
If there was a "standard" report or transaction for what you want, I think between Sujit, and myself, we would be aware of it. It is a common requirement during go lives to have to review inspection type setups. I would hope by now we would have run across it.

Wrong procurement type showing in the material master

Hi,
I am creating a material Procurement type is comming as E in the MRP2 view, To where it is comming?
I have checked the material type setting in the tcode OMS2 and it below are showing there:
Ext. purchase orders 2
Int. purchase orders 2
Hence it's allowed int. and ext. proc. then why in the material master procurement type is comming E not X.
How can I change it?

Check to see if you have assigned an MRP Profile which has defaulted Procurement Type. If this is the case, you will have to remove the MRP Profile before you can change the entry. Or you can maintain the MRP Profile by deselecting "Write-protected in material maintenance" and selecting "Only default value in material maintenance" for Procurement Type. The Transaction is MMD2.

MRP TYPE for Periodic planning in the material master.

Dear gurus,
i need planned the materials in the periodic modality, are there the type MRP in the material master for create the planned file ( table MDVM) one once a month or in the specific period chose ?
Example :
I need that the material master don't create a file planned ( MD20- TABLE MDVM) for a change of the requirement situation new , but i would like that the flag in the table ( MDVM) or file of the planning MRP created when the today date is in the period specific.
31.3.2011 (or period 1.4.2011- 10-4-2011)Date for the create a file MRP and after when run MRP planned the material, for others scenary the system must not planned the material.
Are there the MRP type for my problem? Or the customizing setting?

Dani,
Not sure if MRP type or customizing can help here. And even if we are able to achieve this requirement it will be applicable at plant level.
However, try exploring option of periodic lot size (weekly, monthly, etc). This will work according to period you've set and should give you the results you are looking for.

In standard inspection type field is ' Art ' . Check QALS table where you can find this field & if 03 inspection type is maintained it will store in qals table.

MRP Type is grayed out in the material master

I am creating material on my own.The thing is that the MRP type is grayed out in the MRP 1 view.I want to maintain the MRP type. Can any one help

Dear Mano
You have not specified which field you want to edit / maintain data. Anyway, please do the following:-
Go to material master, select the MRP view which you want to make as editable. Now place your mouse on the required field and press F1. Make a note of the Table and Field name.
Now go to OMS9, press F4 in Field sel.group so that some fields will be displayed. Select the above field and press Enter key. Below you will find the options to change as Hide, Display, Reqd Entry, Opt entry. Make the required changes and now check the material master. Like this, you can make changes for other fields also.

Update of cost in the material master

Hi all,
From the purchasing point of view,In the normal process Cost in the Material master gets updated from purchasing documnents automatically.In this case,manually if the cost is changed in the purchase order affects the cost in the material master.My requirement is this should be done automatically after receiving the vendors confirmation of list of material costs.There may be chance of change in the cost of the materials.so the costs of the materials which were changed should get updated in the material master automatically(VPRS).
Ie changing of the costs of the materials in the purchase order should be reduced .How this will done??
If we have more than 2000 line items in the purchase order,it will be quite little bit difficult to update each material cost in the purchase order .

Hi,
Normally material will be valuated with two types of price controls S -standard price and V-moving avaerage price.
A std price as its name indicated it is std and will not chnage.
A moving average price will chnage accordingly with the change in the material price.
Normally it will be better create a info record for the material and vendor combination for the plant or purchase organisation with a info update indicator in the purchase order will serve your pupose .
With the proper settings at SPRO system creates info record during creation of PO if it does not exist or updates the existing record if it has one with the latest price details in the form of last purchasing document so that these details get defaulted during creation of PO.
However you can create a outline aggrement so that a PO can be created with reference to that.
Or you can create a condition record for the price for your combination so that it can get defaulted.
The price which is there in PO will not be defaulted to material master.
Or time to time you can review the prices and maintain via MR21.

Default Procurement Type for a Material Type

Hello everybody,
Is it possible to assign a default procurement type (for example: F) to a Material Type?
If yes, can you explain me where (which transaction)?
If no, can you explain me an alternative to do so?

You can do this by configuring material type.
Follow the path
IMG->Logistic general->material master->Basic Settings>Material types-->Define attributes of the material type
Select the material type and click detail button
In the External/Internal Purchase order Subscreen---Set the following details
Ext. Putchase Order should be 2 (external purchase order allowed)
Int. Purchase Order should be 0 (No internal purchase order allowed)
If u save the setting
then when u create material master, Procure type would be F in MRP 2 screen and you cant change this value becuase the field is greyed out it will be only displayed

Deleting QM View in the material master

Deleting a QM view is not possible
what You can do ...is Deactivate all Inspection Types that you have assigned by QA08
or do mass changes using MM17(MARA & MARC) and remove all fields.
It is as good as removing QM view.
Note:
u can set deletion flag at plant level or client level. ONce u do that u can delete that particular material from that plant using sara transaction . But note that all view at that plant level vl be get deleted
so better to make it blank

"Conditions" button at the material master - Change the related condition

There is "Conditions" button at the material master ("Sales: sales org. 1" tab). We can make condition record of PR00 by this button but at our system the condition for the material price is different (it isZPR0 at our system). How can I change the related condition type as ZPR0 for this button?

It looks it is hard coded, but they also mention that Via a user exit (business transaction event), the
default KSCHL and KOTABNR can be set.
