Default Language Setting

Is there a setting for the global language setting for SBO?  At times, we have users logging in for the first time, and I believe the language displayed is Dutch.
Thanks,
James

Hello James,
the language for the user is kept in the registry of the windows account under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SAP\SAP Manage\SAP Business One. So if a user logs into B1 for the first time, he gets the default language via the ADS. For example if you publish SBO via Citrix on terminal servers and the terminal server has dutch settings, your B1 users will get dutch B1 on their first logon. I suggest that you use the ADS to set the correct default value for the B1 language.

  • Change default language in object SELFITEM.SENDTASKDESCRIPTION

    Dear WF Gurus,
We are using object SELFITEM method SENDTASKDESCRIPTION to send email to manager for request (Leave and Travel) approval.  FYI, our system is used by several countries and there are several logon languages available in the system.  Currently the ibject works OK because we default the language expression of the task (in the container tab) as EN.  So regardless of the logon language of the user, SAP system will send the email in English.  We also do not translate the email to other languages.
But now another country with Portuguese language is implemented in the system and the users want everything to be translated to PT including approval email mentioned above.  If we change the default language in the container to initial, it works OK for PT, because we have translated the email to PT.  But we have problem with other countries, because they login using their own language, but still receive the email in English (we don't do email translation for them).  So anyone have any suggestion on how we can proceed ?  Thanks.
    Regards,
    Arief

Well, what if you just remove the default language EN from the email sending step. If a user triggers the workflow, which will then in turn send the email, the workflow is started in the corresponding language. If you don't have a default language set up, the email sending step might use the language in which the workflow was started (Which in your case might be correct). I am not sure this, but you might try it.
In general I think the best approach is the one that I explained in my previous answer already. You need find out the email receivers language, and use (=make the binding from the workflow container to the email sending step language parameter) that language in the email sending step. The only "difficult" part is to how to get the receiver user's language in to the WF container. Basically the idea would be that you create for example a new step in your workflow. In this step you will what is the language of the email receiver user, and return it to the workflow container. Then just bind it to the email sending step.

  • Default language in business one.

The IT department purchased a couple of 64-bit machines running windows 7 pro. One of the machines is reverting the default language to czech as our implementer was a jerk when he updated our system before he quit on our partner. We are running in 2007 pl35. Is there a way to fix this to keep the default language english as each time the user has to change the language.

  • How can I set a permanent default language for Firefox's spellcheck feature, so that I don't have to keep manually selecting the spellcheck language I want?

I have a few languages installed, and Firefox's spellcheck seems to decide which language to use ''at random''. So I have to keep manually selecting the language I want. 99% of the time I want English. So how can I set English as a permanent default language, and leave the manual selection for those infrequent occasions when I want another language spellchecked?

Firefox should store the last used dictionary in the spellchecker.dictionary pref that you can check on the about:config page.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Setting default language in Pages '09

Is there a way of setting the default language in Pages '09?
Each time I want to begin a new document that is not from my templates, I have to change the language to Australian English. With MS Word it was not a problem to change the default language.
I read in another post to change the settings in the international pane of the system preferences. My iMac no longer has that option.
    Thanks for your assistance.

I read in another post to change the settings in the international pane of the system preferences. My iMac no longer has that option.
10.6 just changed the name from "international" to "language & text". Go to system prefs/language & text/languages and move Australian English to the top of the list. Also in system prefs/language & text/text/spelling set it to Austrialian English.

  • Setting default language in BP form

    Dear all,
I created a new empty Switzerland SAP B1 company (SAP 8.81 PL 06).
Adding a new BP, I see that the default language is German.
Is it possible to change the default language proposed by SAP B1?
    Regards
         Emanuele

    Dear Gordon,
probably I don't explain well my problem.
I don't need to change the language of all the labels and texts of SAP B1 client interface.
When I open the BP form in add mode, I need to see the Italian language as default language in the "Language" combobox in the General tab.
If I set Italian in the Administration > System Initialization > General Settings > Display tab.
however the German language is proposed in the combobox of BP's General tab.
Every time our customer has to change the language to Italian, manually.
    Regards

Why when I set up my Country or Region on my iPhone 5, the default language of the phone is the country's and not the one I selected when I set up my preferred language?

Go to Settings/General/Reset and choose Reset All Content and Settings. This will erase everything on the iPhone and allow you to set it up again as new with the proper Apple ID.

  • How to set the default language in preferences- dictionary- language

    Hi guys,
i like to set the default dictionary language as well as the lookup path of the dictionary via script. I've found the property dictionary path as well as some settings for qoutation under languages with vendors:
    app.languagesWithVendors[INDEX OF LANGUAGE].name
    app.languagesWithVendors[INDEX OF LANGUAGE].dictionaryPaths
Thats fine, but how can it set a certain language with vendor as the default language for the application itself? Under the Preferences->Dictionary dialog, I can find a dropdown showing the default language. But how can I access this default or set it?
The application object has a property object called dictionaryPreferences, but this object only contains some flags like the merge behaviour but not the default language itself. So where is it?
    app.dictionaryPreferences.mergeUserDictionary
    Menue
    Dialog
    API

    Ok guys,
in the meantime I think I got it. I can setup  several dictionaries for several languages. Depending on the language I use in my paragraph styles the according dictionary will be used. Fine for the desktop.
But what about the InDesign Server! I use the server via scripting and SOAP ports, webservice calls. I've launched several webservice ports, like 10001,10002,10003,10004. In this case, I can set up a vendor dictionary by providing a path via script send to one port 10001 for example. But here are two problems:
    1. The other InDesign Server instances aka webservice ports and engines won't get informed about the change. I have to run the script on all instances.
    2. The change only lives as long as the instance is running but doesn't get saved. After restart the instance, the setup got lost.
So can I save the dictionary-setup with an pref-xml file, all InDesign Server instances would use and read per default?

  • How to set default language for Portal?

    Hi All,
    We use EP6.
Default language is not defined and therefore is being set by the browser's language.
Where do I set default language for all users?
(I don't want that the users will be able to change it by themselves by browser/EU role).
I tried to set the "request.mandatorylanguage" and
    "request.mandatorycountry" in prtDefault.properties but it didn't help.
    Thanks,
    Omri

    Hi Omri,
    are those to parameters
    request.defaultlanguage=...
    request.defaultcountry=...
set in the prtDefault.properties, and the J2EE Server restarted after the change?
Check out this thread and the link given there for more info: HOW to define the default language in the portal
    Hope this helps,

  • I have changed default language in the program & have set Language & region in system preferences. My Word (Mac2011) keeps on changing the default language to US english every time I check. Please help!

I have changed default language in the program & have set Language & region in system preferences. My Word (Mac2011) keeps on changing the default language to US english every time I check. Please help!

If you're having trouble making changes to files that are inside your home folder (represented by a house icon in the sidebar of a Finder window), or if you can't get changes to the settings of an application to stick, then please see below.
    Back up all data.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, they may not work as described.
    Step 1
If you have more than one user, and the one in question is not an administrator, then go to Step 2.
Triple-click anywhere in the following line on this page to select it:
    { sudo chflags -R nouchg,nouappnd ~ $TMPDIR..; sudo chown -R $UID:staff ~ $_; sudo chmod -R u+rwX ~ $_; chmod -R -N ~ $_; } 2>&-
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting.
You'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command may take a few minutes to run, or perhaps longer if you have literally millions of files in your home folder. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2 (optional)
Take this step only if you have trouble with Step 1, if you prefer not to take it, or if it doesn't solve the problem.
Boot into Recovery. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
    Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open.
In the Terminal window, type this:
    res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password dialog will open. You’re not going to reset a password.
In the dialog, select the startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if it's not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if it's not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
    Select
     ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.

  • Set the default language and other preferences

This question was posted in response to the following article: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/robohelp/robohtml/WS1b49059a33f7772672b3318712c5ece24f8-8000.h tml

It is in the help, the issue is with finding it!
Click Help > Contents & Index.
When the help opens enter Default Language. The important bit is to tick This Reference Only so that you stay in the help. That tells you how to set the default language but not how to get to the screen where you do that. To get to that you need to go up a level, use the breadcrumbs.
I realise it's too late for what you wanted but it may help knowing how to get another answer in the future.

  • Set default language of SpellChecker Add-on IE11 to Dutch

    Hello,
Is it possible to set the default language of the spellchecker add-on in Internet Explorer 11 to Dutch with a GPO or registry key?
We use a Windows Server 2008 R2 server. Default is the language set to English, but our Dutch users do not like it ;)
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/getfile/608446
    Thank you in advance!
    Kind regards,
    Walter Markus

    I've found a solution;
Open the Group Policy Management and browse to the policy you want to edit
Go to User Configuration - Preferences - Windows Settings - Registery
    Create a new key:
    Action: Update
    HKEY_Current_User\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main
    Value name: DefSpelLang
    Value type: REG_Multi_Sz
Value data: nl-NL (language of choice)

  • Set a different default Language

I'm really angry with Apple this time. This is something you couldn't be so difficult to change, but it is. I'm using MacOs in Italian and I don't want to change it. I like it. It's my language and it's my right to chose what I want.
But I write in English. And it's impossible to have a different language set as default. I want simply to change the language for the whole document. Otherwise nice feature as the Outline mode is useless (you have to change the language for every new section).
Creating a template it's not a solution. And neither using third part application. All the peoples outside English-speaking countries deals with this problem.
Is it too much to have such a stupid thing?

If you have the computer in Italian Pages will also be in Italian. When you start a document it will be in Italian and so will the styles. You can change language for the spell check to English but as you said the styles wont change.
Using the free Language Switcher to open Pages would give you Pages in English and the computer in Italian. I use it all the time when helping in this forum. I couldn't use the Swedish words in Pages for that.
In Language switcher you can edit which application to show, that is you can deselect all the ones you don't want to use with another language and just keep Pages there. It will make your Pages life much, much easier. You don't have to think of changing the styles, they will be in English. Do try for a week and see if it will work for you.
