Default page in Detailed navigation

Hello,
i have a problem.
The scenario is: In detailed Navigation i have a number of pages that are showed as merge of different WorkSets.
The Merge ID and the sort ID are set but the first page opened is not the first of the list...
Thanks for any helps and suggestions
Andrea

Hi Andrea,
I think you should not use the merge id, but the sort priority to accomplish that (like Noel  suggested). That's exactly what we do in our portal.
We have several roles each of which as the same merge-id for "link 2" and contains one of the "page 1", "page 2", ... (these pages do not have a merge id, but only different sort priorities)
The same merge ID on the "link 2" level makes sure that everything appears under "link 2" and now the sort priority (set at the "page 1", "page 2", ... level) determines which page is displayed where. In our scenario the most top page is always activated.
If this doesn't help you: if you click on "link 2" and "page 4" is displayed, is "page 4" the top most entry or is the sort order really
page 1
page 2
page 3
page 4
page 5
and still page 4 is displayed? If so, I think there is an option to set if an entry should be opened or not -- but I am not sure about this.
Regards,
Holger.

  • User selecting default display page from detailed navigation

    Hello all,
    Can individual users select a default display page from the detailed navigation section? For instance, say I have a list of pages in the detailed navigation each showing a BW report;
    Detailed Navigation
    Report 1
    Report 2
    Report 3
    Report 4
So when the users navigate from the top level to here then 'Report 1' is automatically displayed. Say that towards the end of the quarter userX will be looking at 'Report 3' mostly while userY will wish to concentrate on 'Report 2', can the users themselves set their default? Or must this be done by the portal admin, rearranging the order of these pages in the assigned role or changing the display priority of them? But then it wouldn't be per user, if they shared the role.
If the users cannot do this themselves is there a way to do it in Java perhaps?
    Thanks for you time,
    Patrick.

    Hi Detlev,
We decided on an easy way through.
Each page has to display a BW report, very simple. So we're going to give the users an iView where they get a list of all BW reports that they have access to (read from a text file). From there they select what they wish to be their default report (written to another text file).
The default page (first on detailed navigation) reads the text file and displays the BW report found there in an IsolatedHtmlContainer. Not precisely what was wanted at the start but pretty much offers the same functionality.
Thanks for your help, I'll read the doc. It's always good to know these things.
    Patrick.

  • How to disable automatic loading of iView/Page in detailed navigation?

    Hello,
    We've upgraded our portal 7.0 from SP9 to SP12.
I've noticed that SAP have added this change: Whenever a user is navigating between one role/tab to another in the top level navigation the first folder at the detailed navigation is automatically opened and the first content there is automatically loaded.
I would like to disable this option - I've looked at the new properties that have been added to the detailed navigation iView between SP9 and SP12 and could only find these two: Display Parent of Hidden Node and Open Folder When Launched.
These two are not solving this problem and they are disabled anyway.
    Any ideas...?
    Roy

    Roy,
    Role and Workset Hierarchy:
Folders F1 and F2 (Roles) are defined as entry points and therefore appear on the first level of the top level navigation bar. What happen is when we click F1 (Role), the underlying folders F1a and F1b (Worksets) appear on the second level. On click on F1a the first entry F1a (Workset) of the second level is activated and its contents (iViews) are displayed in the detail navigation and the contents of the iView is displayed in the portal page of the content area.
And same procedure happens with F2 role on the first level of the top level navigation bar. When we click on the F2 (Role) the underlying folders F2a and F2b (Worksets) appear on the second level of the top level navigation bar. On click on F2a the first entry F2a (Workset) of the second level is activated and its contents (iViews) are displayed in the detail navigation and the contents of the iView is displayed in the portal page of the content area.
I think need to configure levels of TLN which includes top level navigation, detail navigation and content area and then need to define the entry points.
Below are the links for configuring levels of TLN and right below it you will find link for define entry point:

  • SAP Web Page Composer: Detailed Navigation is not getting built

    Hello!
I am new at this forum. At first I´d like to say hello to everybody! :]
    Our issue concerns the following:
We started to work mit the Web Page Composer to build websites für our workers. Everything worked fine until the detailed WPC-navigation is not getting built anymore. We have this issue after a portal restart. Every steps to build and publish a website were done the right way.
    1. Publish navigation und paste it to the external connector of the role in the form "wpcnavigation:///wpcontent..."
    2. Permissions and security zones were set. Even the super admin is not able to see the detaild navigation anymore.
It is still possible to put single webpages to iViews and then to display them in the portal. And every function of the Web Page Composer works fine. The caches are deactivated. I tried to build a new site with new pages and a new navigation but there is the same problem, no detailed navigation is shown in the portal navigation. The role is assigned to a user and he can see the role at the top navigation but when clicking on it no detailed navigation appears, just a blank page.
As I mentioned this iusse appears after a portal restart. What could be the problem?
    Thank you in advance!
    Best regards
    Georg

    Hello Sandeep!
I created a new role and also did the Initial Configurations but it still does not work. May be there is a problem with the external connector where I connect the WPC navigation with the portal navigation? I know it sounds confusing but is there may be a way I could "reset" the WPC configuration? Because at the moment I tried to merge roles the system saved "some configuration" and started to avoid displaying the detailed navigation. So if could delete/reset/change this configuration, it could be that the navigation will be displayed again? I do not unterstand, if I just use one role and so avoid merging roles it just should work again? Or I am on the wrong way? Hopefully I am not telling bull**** right now! :]
At this moment our system running SAP NetWeaver 7.00 SP18. The patch is only available at least SAP NetWeaver 7.00 SP20. We are probably going to upgrade in october to SAP NetWeaver 7.00 SP23 and then we can update the WPC, too. Our Basis said, I have to wait till october. Before this upgrade no updates will be done.
Thanks for your help so far!
    Kind regards!
    Georg

  • Can you default a detailed navigation folder to an "open" state?

We have a workset containing iViews, and the detailed navigation on the left displays the iViews within a folder as we would like.  However, the folder defaults to being closed, thus making the user click twice to arrive at an iView inside.  Is there a way to default that folder to being open?

    Hi Kris,
Its is not possible to have a folder expanded by default when you have all other parallel folders are closed.
Either you can expand only the root folder on DLN or expand all the folders. Expanding all the folder option would need DLN .par customization.
Set the below settings to open launched folder:
Go to Your current Framework Page -> Desktop inner page -> Open Detailed Navigation iView and set the property ->  Open Folder when Launched as yes.
Initial State of Navigation Panel option shall expand/close the entire DLN.

  • Expand all folders in the detailed navigation by default on click of Role

    Hi All,
I have a requirement on expand all the folders in the detailed navigation by defalut when we click a Role in the Fist level navigation.
Please have a look about our requirement as mentioned below.
    ->Role1(First Level Navigation)
       ->Wokset1(Second Level)
           -> Folder1(Detailed Navigation entry Folder)
                  -> Folder2
                       Page1
                       Page2
                  ->Folder3
                       Page3
                       Page4
                  -> Folder4
                       Page5
                       Page6
When the user clicks on Role1 then automatically all the folders in the detailed navigation should be expanded by default then user could see all the pages displayed in all folders. currently the functionality is collapsed all the folders by default in the detailed navigation then user has to expand the folders manually.
Regading this issue, i had seen couple of threads on the same but getting confusion what is the exact solution for the solution.
in those existing threads some people has mentioned that need to change code in the lightdetailnavigation.par or some other mentioned that it is not worked out even do the required changes in the code of light detail navigation part file. there is no clarity in the existing threads for getting  the exact solution . please let me know what are the properties needs to be changed at folder level or workset level to make sure all the folders should be expanded by default in the detailed navigation??
Currently we are using portal 7.0 version.
Any pointers in this regard would be the great help to us??
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
To expand all the folder by default, we need to set the property of the detailed navigation tree.
Open your framework page in the content administration.
Check on the detailed navigation check box and click on the properties button.
In the properties, set the value of initial state= OPEN .
This will expand all the folders by default.
    Hope you understood.

  • Merging  Pages with Detailed & Dynamic navigation

    Hello experts,
We are in an Federated Portal senario with a main portal (consumer) and two producer portal (Bi & xRPM).
What I need to know is if it is possible to merge in a same page an xRPM page with dynamic navigation and a BI page with detailed navigation.
Thanks in advance for your response.

    Hi David,
Did you ever find an answer to this?
We're currently trying to use the Remote Role Assignment with XRPM Portfolio Management.  It works fine if we just use the out of the box Portfolio Management Role.
However, we're trying to use a custom role created on the producer and then merge it with another custom role on the consumer.  It starts out working fine until it attempts to redirect to content on the Portfolio Hidden workset.  Then it gives a runtime error.  Any help you could give would be great!
    Thanks,

  • How to set default page in DLN among folders structure

    Hi All,
We have the navigation structure as follows.
In Top Level Navigation we have a Role called " Role1"
In Second Level Navigation we have a Workset called "Workset1"
In Detailed Navigation we have a folders as below :
    Folder1
        Folder2
              Page1
              Page2
              Page3
        Folder3
             Page4
             Page5
             Page6
Now our requirement is when user clicks on Role1 then in the Detailed Navigation (DLN) , Page1 should set by default and content in that page has to be displayed in the content Area.
Currently it is happening like, when user clicks on Role1 then in the Detailed Navigation(DLN), Folder1 is selecting by default , then user has to select manually the page1 then that page1 is content is displaying in the content area.
Could you please get back to me what are the properties has to be changed at page level or folder level if any, for achieving the requirement as page1 should set by default when user clicks on Role1 ( from the First Level Navigation).??
I tried the property of "Default entry for folder"  for page1 as "Yes", Still it is setting the page1 as deafult in the DLN on click of Role1. Please let me know if any other properties are required to change?
Note : Currently we are using Light framework page fucntionality instead of Default framework page.
Thanks in advance, it would be great help to us if get back to us.

    Hi Mahesh,
    Thanks for your reply.
Currently we are using Light framework page not Default Framework Page, Inside we have Light detailed Navigation, inside i had check for the property of "Clicking Folder Name Launches First Node", but it was not there for Light detailed Navigation. And this property is there as you said for detailed navigation inside the desktop inner page.
Could you please guide whether out requirement is possible or not with light framework page->light detailed navigation?
    The following is our requirement
How to set a Page as Default which is inside the Folder Structure on DLN (Detailed Level Navigation).?
When user clicks on Role , then we need to set the Page as default to be loading in the detailed Navigation then the content of Page will be automatically displayed in the content area.?
The following is the Structure of our requirement, then please let me know how to set Page as default when we click on Role 1, as mentioned in the below structure. Currently when click on Role1, then Folder1 in the DLN is selecting by default then user has to click on Page manually then content of page will be displayed in the content area.
    Role1 (First Level Navigation)
         Workset1(Second Level Navigation)
             Folder1(Deailed Navigation content)
                  Folder2
                        Page (Google Page, for example)
I tried the property of Page as "Default Entry for Folder" as "Yes", even though still the page is not setting by default on click of Role1. let me know if any other changes/properties/options are there to get the solution for this.
If any one helps on this then it would be great help to us.
Currently we are using Light Framework Page. Not Default Framework Page.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Detailed navigation wont remove completely

    Hi,
I've been through all the threads  on SDN and as a result have removed all but the content area from my default framework page and set the 'set to invisible in navigation parameters' to yes for all the iviews in the role.
    However I'm facing two issues.
Firstly, for all ESS screens the small right arrow 'expand' icon remains present for the detailed navigation window. Clicking on it will open a blank window which is not ideal. Can anyone advise how to remove the navigation window completely so that the expand arrow does not appear?
Secondly, rather randomly, for the family member depenendents page the detailed navigation appears as expanded despite being set to 'always close' in the view properties within the role (all other pages are fine). Can anyone advise how to overcome this?
    Thanks
    Phil

    Kirstoffer,
I would check the registry under Microsoft Software registry entries. There is a diagnotic tool or you could check the following manually.
    HKCR = HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
    HKLM = HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
    HKCU = HKEY_CURRENT_USER

  • Light Detailed Navigation Vs Heavy Detailed Navigation

    Hi All,
What are the advantages/ disadvantages light detailed navigation have compared to normal detailed navigation. Is there any comparison chart available?
Using normal Detailed Navigation, I could not see the URL's in my browser ( its always http://server:port/irj/portal ). I want to use the short urls and show the url in browser. Its working fine ( can see the url's) when used light detailed navigation.
how to view the urls ( navigation url's) when used normal detailed navigation?????????? I know if we use light detailed navigation we can achieve this, but need it with normal / regular detailed navigation.
    Thanks,
    PradeeP

    Thanks again,
As per the comparison sheet, SAP says Short URL's and Quick Links are supported in Default Framework page. But when I use Default Framework page with Default detailed navigation, Its not showing up the URL's in browser, I couldn't even see the short URL, Quicklinks while navigation in portal.
My Actual requirement is giving the portal URL's links to the users to access and end users can get iview / page urls and save it for his / her future purpose.
By using the Quick Links, we can give the quicklink to the enduser that he can use ( like http://xxx:5000/irj/portal/QUICK LINK).
But when end user is navigating in portal using default famework and detail navigations, he couldnt see this quick links in browser.
If I put Light Detailed Navigation with Default framework, will it work?
because we have ESS and some BSP apps in our portal which uses EPCM and Work protect mode which is not supported by Light framework. But will it be supported by Default framework with light Detail navigation?
    Thanks,
    Pradeep

  • Detailed Navigation collapsed/expanded

    Hi everyone,
For SAP EP 7.3 is it possible to configure (without development) that Detail Navigation appears initially collapsed when clicking any workset second level option? And once any option be selected inside the page this Detailed Navigation section be expanded again?
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi,
There is a property called "Initial State of Navigation Panel" and the options available for this property are Open, Close, Automatic and Always Close. This property is available for Role/Workset/Page?iView. Please work on this property to get the required result.

  • Problems with light detailed navigation

    Hi there,
We have the poblem that the light detailed (3rd level) navigation is missig for four users. When I login with one of these users, the complete left plane is empty. If I login with a different user with the same role, then the navigation is working as usual.
Anyone who had a similar problem?
    Regards,
    Manuel

    Hi,
This can happen when the users have different Desktops and in the Framework page the detailed navigation Iview is not added/invisible.
Check the portal rules to know about the Desktop used by the users and make sure that the framework page contains detailed navigation Iview inside the Desktop inner page.

    Hi,
Is there any way to set the Detailed Navigation Window by default to open?
I have gone through different posts but I could not get a clear way to do this.If some body can hint me I would be very much thankful.

    Hi,
do you mean the navigation panel on the left side? If so find the frameworkpage you are using. Open, goto InnerDesktop. Select properties for this page. Here find a property <i>"Initial state of navigation panel"</i> - set to <b>open</b>.
    Hope this helps,

  • Detailed Navigation is closed by default

    Hi,
The Portal with all packages is running fine in test system.
The first Page (welcome) is displaying some KM-News in the content section and has some links in the detailed navigation (DTN).
Then, I exported the ivies/pcd with all roles etc. to the production system.
Now, whatever value I put in "Initial Display" in the roles (Automatic/Open), the first time, the user logs on, the DTN is completely close. If if reload the page, everything is fine and the DTN is open.
I also checked the default framework page, but it is set to "OPEN" as well.
    No clue no more.
    Thanks for any help
