Default prompt values in webI report???

I am using BO XI 3.1 on BW universe, I have a prompt A in the prompt window which has many Lov's but user will freequently use only three values out of it.
So I want to make those three values to be default for that promp A when ever the report gets refreshed, so that it will be easy for user not to search in the big list for those 3 values.
Any inputs please.
Thanks,

Hi,
You can make some values as default prompt values by webi report.
1) Open the webi report.
2) Edit the query then go to the prompt
3) Go to the prompt properties checked the chekcbox "Set default values" and type the three values and ok.
So next time user refresh the report all three values come in the filter  default. They can remove or add more values in the list.but every time all values come in the filter.
Thanks,
Amit

For one prompt value I can user Userresponse function.
In one of my report, I have a prompt for Date, which also should be displayed in the report under one field. I am using the below formula: =UserResponse("Enter Date:")
But my new requirement is User wants a Date Range for a particual trasaction date. I created a report level prompt like
Transaction Date Between "Enter Tran Date(Start):" and "Enter Tran Date(End):"
I need to display the start date and end date user selected under one field Date in my webi report.
    how should I do that.
    Please share your thoughts.
    Thanks,
    Ven Men

    Hi Ven,
You have created a report level prompt like
Transaction Date Between "Enter Tran Date(Start):" and "Enter Tran Date(End):"
1.Drag two blank cell on report.
2.click on one blank cell and on formula editor type following formula.
    =UserResponse("Enter Tran Date(Start):" )
This will show you start date in the cell.
3.Similarly in another cell type the following formula
    =UserResponse("Enter Tran Date(End):" )
This will show you End Date in respective cell.
Do revert in case of any queries.

  • Issue : OBIEE applying default prompt values when pressing return button

    Hi All,
On my dashboard, I am showing a summary report. This summary report has a link to detail report. I have provided a link for detail report just below the summary report on dashboard. Following is the issue which I am facing
[1] I run the dashboard for a particular prompt value on the dashboard. Let's say a date value = '1/1/2010'.
(There is no default value for the prompt).
[2] Now my summary report is updated according to the prompt value which I selected.
[3] I click on any value on summary reports and it drill down and recalculated the metrics
[4] Now when I click on the detail report, i get the detail report too ( in a new window). The issue starts from here.
[5] When I click on return link from the detail report page, it takes me back to the summary report page ( I land on the report which I got from step 3)
[6] I click on the return button under the summary report (rememeber I had drilled down) to see the report which i get in step 2
But, when I click on the return button under the summary report, it changes the prompt value too and applies the default value to the prompt and provides me the initial summary report with default promt value. The report which I got in step 2
Whereas what i want is when I click on the return link then I should get the report which I got in step 3.
Why does OBIEE applies the default value when I try to return back to my original summary report. Is this an OBIEE feature or I have some setting issue ?
Hope I have been able to explain the scenario!
Can anyone please reply on this. Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Ronny

    hey kart,
the issue is not about going back to the summary report ...the issue is when i click on the return link below the summary report after returning from the detail report ( which opens in a new window) then it takes me to the initial summary report ( which was loaded by default when the dashboard was loaded) with all the default prompt filters whereas my requirement is to go back to the summary report with the filters which users selected from the prompt ....
    Please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Ronny

  • Passing a Prompt value to Webi using Xcelsius with OpenDocument

    -Operating System: Windows XP
-OS Patch level: Service Pack 3
    -Office Version: 2007
    -Flash Player version: 10
-Xcelsius Version and Patch Level: Enterprise 2008 with SP2 (version: 5.2.0.0)
-Xcelsius Build number (Help>About Xcelsius): 12,2,0,608
-Business Objects Enterprise version/patch level (if applicable): Edge 3.1
    -Issue Description:
I'm trying to open a Webi Document from my Xcelsius dashboard and pass the value for the prompt "Region".  Ultimately I want to have this value determined by the drill down from a chart but at the moment I cannot get it to work even by adding the value at the end of the URL.  The webi report opens but the user is given the prompt option and asked to select the value, where I want to pass this so it automatically shows the selected region.
The URL I'm currently using is:
    http://"servername":8081/OpenDocument/opendoc/openDocument.jsp?sType=wid&sRefresh=Y&sDocName=Regional_Drilldown&mode=full&nbPrompts=1&lsSRegion=South
I have double checked the report and the prompt is definitely called "Region" and "South" is a valid region.
I would be very grateful for some help.
    Many thanks
    Robert Peters

    Hi Robert
I would take out the reference to the number of prompts to give:
    http://"servername":8081/OpenDocument/opendoc/openDocument.jsp?sType=wid&sRefresh=Y&sDocName=Regional_Drilldown&mode=full&IsSRegion=South
If you copy and paste the url into a browser does it sucessfully find the document?

  • How to use the prompt value in the report column

    Hi
I have a report prompt column which is 'Adj Type' which holds values 10,20,30 and when user selects Adj Type = 10 then this value should be passed to report column.
For Eg. Column 1 value is 10 and this should multiple with prompt value and the output should be 10* 10.
Any thoughts how to capture the prompt values in report column for calculation.

    hi hsekar,
    1) Declare a presentation variable in prompt under the Set Variable section -->Presentation Variable -->P_var
    2) In Fx Table_name.Your_column * @{P_Var}
@{P_var}{20} ( 20 is default value it will override when a user selects value in prompt

  • Prompt issue in webi Report

    Hi All,
My webi report have two date prompt i.e start date & end date.During report refresh if I give the dates which doesn't have any data/wrong data then I'm getting standard error as "NO data to Fetch".
1.Here My concern is how and where do it.
i.e Changing  "NO data to Fetch". to custom one. e.g Dates (start date & end date) doesn't have any data like that...
    2. In the same report if it is in tabular format with given prompts have no data then empty table structure  is displayed. When I change this table to any chart(pie or bar or line..) nothing is displayed for the same prompts. i.e. How can we display empty structure of chart similar to that of table if given prompts are wrong/ not having any data.
    Any help is highly appreciated..
    Cheers,
    Suresh Aluri.

    Hi Suresh,
    Here is the complete explaination:
Consider the scenario that you have 1 data provider in the report lets name it DP, which is not returning any row for the selected date range.
    1. Union the main query with the dummy Select 'A','B','C',0,0,0 from dual - (Eg given for oracle)
When the main query returns no row, this dummy query will return 1 row, which will suppress the default pop-up
of - "no data to retreive"
    2. Place a cell in the report, with the desired error message written. Background white and no borders and font white.
    3. Place the block above this cell i.e. one above the other. Check the property to hide block when empty.
    4. Create alterer to make the font black or to any other color and apply it tto he cell created in step 2.
Enable the alerter when DP returns only 1 row.
I hope the steps are clear.. and solution helps you.

  • Importing a text file with variable values into web reporting

    Hello,
I'm looking for a possibility to import values from a text file into a variable selection in Web reporting.
With BEx reporting in Excel this is possible, by clicking on the multiple selection button in the variable popup screen, and subsequently selecting the "Import from Text file" button.

we could resolve this issue, so i thought it may also be helpful for others:
In our example we used a file with numbers for materials. This file is stored somewhere in a directory, to which SAP BI must have authorization to read.

  • How to use different default parameter value for different report subscriptions

In ssrs is it possible to define different default parameter values for different subscriptions? In the following example I have a report which has two subscriptions with different start date and end date values:
    Report name – Testsubscription.rdl
    Subscription-1
    Input parameter (default values):
start_date = first day of current Month
    end_date = till date
    Subscription-2
    Input parameter (default values):
start_date = first day of current Quarter
    end_date = till date
I know an alternative way of doing this would be to copy the rdl file with a different name but I am curious whether this can be done within a single report definition file. I am using SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard Edition.
    Thanks!
    spp

    Hi sppdba,
As per my understanding, there is a report with two parameter: start_date and end_date, you want to configure subscription for the report, and set different default values for start date and end date. And you want to know if it is possible to achieve you
goal by using a single report definition file.
Since you are using SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard Edition, we need to achieve your goal by configuring two subscriptions for the report. For detail information, please refer to the following steps:
      1. In design surface, right click start_date and open Parameter Properties dialog box.
      2. In General pane, type Name and Prompt, set Data Type to Date/Time.
      3. Click Available Values in left pane, select Specify Values.
      4. Click Add button, in Label text box, type “First day of Current Month”, click (fx) button in Value section, then type the expression like below:
    =DateSerial(Year(Now()), Month(Now()), 1)
      5. Click Add button, in Label text box, type “First day of Current Quarter”, click (fx) button in Value section, then type the expression like below, then click OK.
    =DateSerial(Year(Now()), (3*DatePart("q",Now()))-2, 1)
      6. Right click end_date and open Parameter Properties dialog box.
      7. In Available Values pane, select Specify Values.
      8. Click Add button, in Label text box, type “Today”, click (fx) button in Value section, then type the expression =Today(), then click OK.
Now that the parameters are created, we need to configure subscription for the report. For detail information, please follow these steps:
      1. Open Report Manager, and locate the report for which you want to create a new subscription.
      2. Hover over the report, and click the drop-down arrow.
      3. In the drop-down menu, click Manage. This opens the General properties page for the report.
      4. Select the Subscriptions tab, and then click New Subscription.
      5. Select the delivery extension and data source for the subscription.
      6. Select a method of delivery, then choose report delivery options.
      7. Specify conditions that cause the subscription to process and delivery to occur.
      8. Set start_date to First day of Current Month, end_date to Today, then click OK.
      9. Create a new subscription as step4 to 7, set start_date to First day of Current Quarter, end_date to Today, then click OK.

  • Can we set prompts value in Webi to schedule thru JAVA SDK 4.0

    Hi,
I need to schedule webi report which has prompts.  Can we have schedule webi report with prompts in 4.0.
I was able set values for prompts and refresh the webi report using documentInstance object. I think we can't use this object for scheduling right?
Also, I would like set values from LOV.
Could you please help to find solution.
    Thanks
    Venkat

    Hello Venkat,
Unfortunately the feature of scheculing a webi reports with prompts have been deprecated from the
version 4.0 using the enterprise java sdks.
In XI 3.1, promtsutil class was used for setting prompts while scheduling a webi report using java sdks, which have been deprectaed from 4.0 and there is no replacement for the same in enterprise java sdks.
However, this feature was re-implemented in the new Restful web services and is availble for BI 4.0 SP6 onwards as far as I am aware of.
Please refer to the below document for better understanding.

Also please refer to the forum http://scn.sap.com/community/restful-sdk for any queries related to Restful webservices sdks.

  • (Urgent) Sorting search help values in Web Report

    Hello Friends,
We have a web report which uses a variable made on 0CALMONTH. The order of display of values for this variable search help is 02/2004, 03/2004, 01/2005, 07/2006, 08/2006, 05/2007. In this order we have the latest date (05/2007) displayed at the end of the list. What we want is that the values in the search help of 0CALMONTH should be displayed in the reverse order i.e. latest date first (05/2007, 08/2006, 07/2006... etc).
Thanks in advance for your assistance.

    Prem.

    Hi Premanand,
If u display the report in Internet Explorer there you can see differnet buttons like
Save View, Book mark, Variable Screen etc...There click Save View give tech name and descryption. After Sorting use this in WAD instead selecting query , select this view and execute.

  • Set  filter value by other filter prompt value in Webi on top of BW

    Dear All,
In webi report which on top of BW cube, I create a filter with prompt for YearMonth selection.
Is there any way to create another filter for Year which based on the select Year month?   For example , user input YM = 200903 --> Year = 2009
In bw , we can create variable with exit which read the data from other variable. Is there any exit for filter we can use in webi?
       I am using XI 3.1 & BI 7.0.
    Thx,
    Jeff

    Hi Jeff,
since you want to limit the normal time dimension on your cube why do'nt you remove the yaer month filter form your SAP BW query and replace it with a month filter?
    Generally you have two options:
    1) You can either add you own filters (using MDX syntax) in the universe.
    2) Use local Web filters (these are applied on the report itself).

  • How to get prompt value in Financial Reporting and use it as header

    Hi Oracle Gurus,
I have Hyperion Financial Reporting 11.1.1.3. I created a report.
I have Products dimension on rows. And I also have prompt for Products.
Let's say there is 3 products, Product A, B, and C, with each has its own level 0 item (for example A1, A2, B1, C1)
Currently in my situation, user will be prompted to select a list of Products, and then the report will display only the level 0 of the product chosen by the user. For example, user select Product A, then the report (or the grid) will display A1 and A2 on rows. User select Product B, B1 will be displayed.
My question is, I want to create a dynamic header report, so how can I get this prompt value and use it as a report header? For example: Sales of Product A when user choose Product A, or Sales of Product B when user choose Product B.
Thanks a lot for your response.

    Hi,
Here is the possible way to achieve it:
    1. Insert a row (may be as row 1) in the report which has product as "User prompt".
    2. mark this row as hidden always
    3. User other rows as level0 of product in row 1
    4. Use MEMBERALIAS in your header to use product as dimension & row as row1
    Hope it helps !!

  • Can we combine prompt values in Webintelligence Report(Combined Q:Union)

    Hi Every One,
I had 4 Queries which are combined queries(Union). When i run the report ,displaying prompt values which are there in first Query. Can't we get combined prompt values when i run the report.I will explain with Scenario.
    Eg:
    Q1:Product level Country Information
    Prompt Values:Country(A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H)
    Q2:Component level Country Information
    Prompt Values:Country(A,B,C,D,E,F,L)
    Q3:Product level Source Information
    Prompt Values:Country(A,B,C,D,E)
    Q4:Product level Country Information
    Prompt Values:Country(A,B,C,D,E,F,M)
When i run the report iam getting prompt values for country as (A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H)
    Could you help .
    Regards,
    Swapna.

I'm having trouble understanding your scenario as you explain it.
You are doing a union of the queries?
So create query A, combine queries, union, create query B, etc.
All of them use the same prompt message?
So you either build the condition and reuse the same prompt message or you use a filter from the universe.
In this case it is not possible to specify something different for each of the various subqueries.
So you would have only one prompt answer, being whatever you answered to the prompt.
If you have different prompt messages, you can give different answers, but then you have 4 prompt answers to display.
It would be logical that only the first one is displayed if that is the one you display, you should display all four.
If you just want to display the superset of countries which have been retrieved by the query you can put this information in a separate table block. If you make it a horizontal one, without borders, you should be able to come close to a normal prompt layout.
    Good luck,
    Marianne
