Default settings in adobe reader 9 may cause colors to shift error

Upon printing a color document to PS printer, Adobe reader 9
gives the following message:
Obviously, one cannot see the options but... Top appears to do nothing, nothing prints. Middle you get print, bottom no print. One of these has to be a fix button chosing this and restarting adobe results in the same message again. If you check do not show this box, it never prints and you don't get this option to select the middle choice that makes it work. So, my question is, what is this dialog changing, and why won't it hold it's value? If the box never appears again, what configuration option do we need to change to get the file to print?

I am getting the exact same issue, could someone please explain what is happening here.
Thank you.

  • Default Saving Location Adobe Reader Version 11.0.1

Default Saving Location Adobe Reader 11.0.1 -
Since upgrading to Reader XI the default saving location no longer works. So esssentially in previous versions The file path would default to the last place you saved a document, so when saving multiple documents in the one file path it wasn't time consuming.
Since upgrading it does not do this anymore and you have to select the file saving path each time you open a new PDF, which adds to the time to save multiple documents, so currently I guess it just opens a temporary folder each time you select Save As.
Can you please advise the setting that needs to be altered to fix this.
    Thanks

Thank you.  We have tried that but it has not made any difference.  Adobe still requires a new file name to save the file.

    Google Chrome is a problem:
if you use Chrome's own PDF viewer, the results are unpredictable.
if you use the Adobe Reader plugin with Chrome, it may reject (block) it if it is not the latest version.  Reader 11.0.08 is the latest version for Windows XP, but Chrome may insist on the current version 11.0.10.
My suggestion; use a different browser!

Cannot embed pdfs in Word doc which are PDF Version 1.3 (Acrobat 4.x) [This is associated with Adobe Reader 9]. Getting 'program not installed' error.
Pdfs with other versions are okay:
Tested successfully with Adobe Pro 9 (Version 1.5 (Acrobat 6.x)), Reader X (Version 1.4 (Acrobat 5.x)) and XI (Version 1.6 (Acrobat 7.x))
Also cannot open embedded pdfs which have been embedded with this version (getting a similar error).
Importantly I have removed/disabled all security options in Adobe Reader, following numerous internet suggestions from Adobe and elsewhere. This does not fix the problem.
Currently the work around is to re-save the pdf with something other than Adobe Reader 9 (so the version updates), but we would prefer not to do this for all the old pdfs we have.

  • Default Page Zoom (Adobe Reader X)

    Hi everyone,
I'm having little problem with the Reader default zoom. Now, if I mark default zoom to something, like 100%, it works fine. Profile remembers the value...etc. But myt problem comes with multiple users on my Windows Terminal Server, where they use the Adobe Reader over Citrix connection.
My users really need the default zoom to remain 100%! So, that PDF file/page always comes to screen as 100% in size. This is actually very important in their use. But it seems, that based on the size of your screen or something - The reader gives different zooms for different files. Either way, the problem (and solution, that I need) would be to get the page size/zoom to remain always 100%. So, PDF file is in right size.
I have tried some registry settings (below), but I havent been able to get any useful results. Still hoping there would be some registry fix for this one.
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\10.0\Originals]
    "iDefaultZoomType"=dword:00000000
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\10.0\Originals]
    "iDefaultZoomScale"=dword:00000000
These did change the Readers --> EDIT --> PREFERENCES --> Page Display --> Zoom: 100%. But that still doesn't change the documents size right when it opens on the screen. It may still open to some other size, like for example 87,9%...

Go Edit > Preferences > Page Display, and make sure Use Logical Page Numbers is checked. I don't know if this works for me because of the way the PDF was originally set up, but when it is unchecked the absolute page number is displayed, and when it is checked, I get something like xiii (12 of 192) showing up.

  • How to set default view in Adobe Reader 9?

I am trying to figure out how to set adobe reader so that when you open a document you automatically get the page view on the right side come up and the document in full mode.  I have researched registry edits and also the customize wizard with no luck.  Does Adobe Reader have the capability to set these as defaults on any document?  I have the application setup to remember what I did so if I open the same document it will show pages and be in full mode; however, if I open a new document, I have to select the icon on the left to display pages and then set to full mode.  Thanks Joe

Adobe Acrobat can do this, not Adobe Reader.

  • How do I make Preview the default instead of Adobe Reader?

When Adobe Reader is installed it makes itself the default and then doesn't provide you anyway to change it that I know of. I tried uninstalling Adobe Reader but then realized that that is the only way to view PDFs from a web browser and therefore had to reinstall it.

Find a PDF on your computer...
Right click it and choose "Get Info".
Under the "Open with:" section, choose Preview.
Then click the button below that says "Change All..."
Now all your PDFs will open with Preview.

Go to a PDF file and selected it. Either "File"- "Get Info" in the menu bar or press Cmd-I. This will give you a pop up screen where you have an section called "Open with".  Go there, select Preview as the application to open the document with, press the "Change All" button and confirm.

  • Change the launch default back to Adobe Reader 9 (from Acrobat 6)?

I have Adobe Reader 9 and Adobe Acrobat 6 both loaded.  Until a week ago I could launch
PDF files in a broswer without difficulty.  They would launch in Adobe Reader 9.  Now when I try to launch a PDF in a browser Adobe Acrobat 6 launches and I get a message:
"The Adobe Acrobat / Reader that is running cannot be used to view PDF files in a web browser.  Adobe Acrobat version 8/9 is required."
It seems that Acrobat 6 is the default now for PDF files.  How do I change the default Adobe Program that launches back to Adobe Reader 9?

  • Default Duplex Printing - Adobe Reader 11

    Hello,
I recently installed Adobe Reader 11. I notice that, while the default for my Brothers duplex printer is set in WINDOWS 7 64 bit to Duplex, the Adobe Reader "Print" screen is displayed with the "Print on both sides of paper" box unchecked. If I check it, the printer does the duplex printing correctly.
My question is: why is Adobe Reader 11 overriding my duplex print option setting in Windows, and is there any way to correct this?
    Thanks

    Hi Atul,
thanks for your response. It turns out the problem is not restricted to Adobe Reader, but also seems to be happening with other Windows programs (like Firefox).
My printer is a Brother HL-5370DW which is network connected. I have set up the print preferences (using the Windows Control Panel Devices and Features) so the default is Duplex printing; however, when I go to print from any Windows program (including Adobe Reader), the preferences box shows Duplex is not set per the default. If I change it to Duplex, it works fine - just curious why the Default Duplex setting isn't used.
Any ideas would be appreciated - and thanks for your help....
    Phil

Again, I'm guessing: it is possible that newer versions of Adobe products are more strict to adhere to PDF standards.
I have also tried to open your file using Adobe internal beta versions, and I've received the same errors.  Meaning that this behavior is here to stay.
