Delete and full load into ODS versus Full load into ODS

Can someone please advise, that in the context of DSO being populated with overwrite function, would the FULL LOAD in following two options (1 and 2) take the same amount of time to execute or one would take lesser than the other. Please also explain the rationale behind your answer
1. Delete of data target contents of ODS A, Followed by FULL LOAD into ODS A, followed by activation of ODS
2. Plain FULL LOAD into ODS A (i.e. without the preceeding delete data target contents step), Followed by activation of ODS
Repeating the question - whether FULL LOAD in 1 will take the same time as FULL LOAD in 2, if one takes lesser than the other then why so.
Context : Normal 3.5 ODS with seperate change log, new and active record tables.

Hi,
I think the main difference is that you with the process "Delete and full load" you will only get the full loaded data inside the dso. With full load you the system uses the modify logic (overwrite for all datasets already in the dso) and insert for all new datasets which are not inside yet inside the dso

  • Automated Delete and Rebuild of BIA Indexes

We have several cubes that we will be loading into BIA that use non-cumulative key figures.  We have heard that it is necessary to periodically rebuild these indexes to keep the BIA performance high.  My question is how do we automate this process?  I don't see a process chain step or program for deleting an index.
There is program RSDDTREX_AGGREGATES_FILL, but will this rebuild an index if it already exists?

    Hi
Deleting and rebuilding the Cube indexes will improve the the loading performance.
It is very much required for for Full loads and Big loads.
When it comes to Delta loads or Small loads, then it depends upon the volume of data you are going to get.
Say like you are getting below 10000 records in daily delta's, then i think no need to delete and rebuild indexes.
If you know that you will get more than1 lack records, then it's good to go for deletion and rebuild of indexes.
Example : I load an Infocube once by week in full upload (3 millions of records) after deleting all the content of the previous week. Is it a good idea to add steps of deleting/rebuilding indexes in this case ?
In this case, it is required.
Note: 1) If you want you can test in your development system, run the same load first time by deleting indexes and second time without deleting the indexes. you will come to know the time difference.
    2) Anyhow deletion and rebuilding of indexes step will take less than 2 or 3 mins time unless if you have huge volume of uncomressed data in your cube.
    Regards,
    Venkatesh.

  • Selecting and loading songs into an already full Nano (8G)

Hello: I had loaded months ago my Nano with all my songs in the Library as it was less than 8G. Now I want to connect my Nano and 'reload' (not sure the right term) songs I want on it (along with Playlists). My current Library has many more songs now (meaning, I just can't tranfer my whole Library to the Nano any more). So, do I need to delete all the songs on my Nano, then some how select only the songs I want loaded, and transfer? Do you select the songs you want transfered by marking the box to the left of each song or do you create a Playlist and dump it into the Nano. Sorry for this basic question. FYI -- I have iTunes 7.6.x. Thanks in advance.

The easiest way (in my opinion at least) to do this is to manually manage the songs on you iPod. To do this open itunes and connect the ipod. When it loads select the iPod (so you see the restore ipod and update ipod options). Towards the bottom of the screen check the box that says "manually manage music." To update the songs and play lists, just drag them to the icon for you ipod. To delete songs click the arrow next to the ipod to bring up the submenus. select the music menu then go through the ipod and delete what you don't want. This might be an extra step or two, but its sure to get you exactly what you want.

  • Selective deletion and repair full request!!!

    Hi,
I have one DSO which is receiving deltas from Std extractor and is also serving deltas to many data targets (Both DSO and Infocubes)
Now there comes the need of deleting data in DSO by means of year ( selective deletion )
I know that i need to adjust the data flow from DSO to other data targets myself!!
So after doing selective deletion in DSO, can i update datatargets ( of 3.5 version ) with full update so that data is adjusted in correct format for the subsequnet data targets?
or is there any better option??

    Hi Sujith,
    Difference between Repair Full and  Full Load ;
    1. When we want to pull the history data from the source system(SAP R/3) for the first time till yesterday and trigger / enable the Delta load.
For Eg; for your client, when the implantation was done ,when the GO Live started, all the history data(sales,Material,Finance etc) would have pulled from the source systems into BW system and enabled the delta load from next day.
Note: In this scenario ,We use Full Load only for the one time.
    2. In most of the scenarios we will use Full Load for the master data (Daily Load). In few scenarios we will use Full Load for the transaction Data Loads. For Eg: in case if there are no changes happening in transaction data daily (like sales data) ,then we go for Full Load for transaction Data Load also.
    3. If someone has deleted the data in the data target by mistake which was loaded using 'Full Load' ,then we can go for re-loading the lost data using the same normal 'Full Load' option. In this case if you are using a DSO in between PSA and Infocube then if you don't use the selection parameters(Company Code,Profit Center, Sales Organization etc) for the lost data ,then also it's fine. Because DSO has overwrite option. In case ,if you don't have DSO,then you have to use the selection parameters on infopackage/DTP level depending on from which level you are trying to get the data back. i.e Source System or PSA.
    4. We have scenario where the data which was loaded using DELTA load has been deleted from the data target, OR due to DELTA load failure the data didn't get loaded into the data target. Now,we want to get the lost DELTA data back into the target. In this case we can go for using both 'Repair Full' and also 'Full Load'. but depends on the below conditions;
If we want to use 'Full Load' to get the lost DELTA data, then we should block the users in source system(SAP R/3) from posting the data, and clean up the delta queue . Then stopping the daily process chain in BW system which will bring the DELTA data. Then we can use' Full Load' option.
But, If we don't want to disturb the daily DELTA load and if we don't want to block the users in source system, then we should use 'Repiar Full Request". Using this option, the daily DELTA load will not get affected.
Please let me know you are clear with my points.
    Regards,
    Asha

  • I need to upgrade my browser and my start up disk is full. I have deleted many but it is still full.  What is the problem

I have a Mac OS X Version 10.6.8 and I need to update my software.  I deleted items from my start up disk and it still says my disk is still full.  How do I do this?

If you do not really know what you are doing, you shouldn't just be deleting files and data will nilly.
Here are some general tips to keep your Mac's hard drive trim and slim as possible
You should never, EVER let a conputer hard drive get completely full, EVER!
With Macs and OS X, you shouldn't let the hard drive get below 15 GBs or less of free data space.
If it does, it's time for some hard drive housecleaning.
Follow some of my tips for cleaning out, deleting and archiving data from your Mac's internal hard drive.
Have you emptied your Mac's Trash icon in the Dock?
If you use iPhoto or Aperture, both have its own trash that needs to be emptied, also.
If you store images in other locations other than iPhoto, then you will have to weed through these to determine what to archive and what to delete.
If you are an iMovie or Final Cut user, iMovie and Final Cut have its own individual Trash location that needs to be emptied, too!
If you use Apple Mail app, Apple Mail also has its own trash area that needs to be emptied, too!
Delete any old or no longer needed emails and/or archive to disc, flash drives or external hard drive, older emails you want to save.
Look through your other Mailboxes and other Mail categories to see If there is other mail you can archive and/or delete.
STAY AWAY FROM DELETING ANY FILES FROM OS X SYSTEM FOLDER!
Look through your Documents folder and delete any type of old useless type files like "Read Me" type files.
Again, archive to disc, flash drives, ext. hard drives or delete any old documents you no longer use or immediately need.
Look in your Applications folder, if you have applications you haven't used in a long time, if the app doesn't have a dedicated uninstaller, then you can simply drag it into the OS X Trash icon. IF the application has an uninstaller app, then use it to completely delete the app from your Mac.
To find other large files, download an app called Omni Disk Sweeper.
    http://www.omnigroup.com/more
Download an app called OnyX for your version of OS X.
    http://www.titanium.free.fr/downloadonyx.php
When you install and launch it, let it do its initial automatic tests, then go to the cleaning and maintenance tabs and run the maintenance tabs that let OnyX clean out all web browser cache files, web browser histories, system cache files, delete old error log files.
Typically, iTunes and iPhoto libraries are the biggest users of HD space.
move these files/data off of your internal drive to the external hard drive and deleted off of the internal hard drive.
If you have any other large folders of personal data or projects, these should be archived or moved, also, to the optical discs, flash drives or external hard drive and then either archived to disc and/or deleted off your internal hard drive.

WiFi only works close to router, DNS fail, Signal Bars present but Safari says no Internet, I've deleted and re-added through to reset and full reset, I had no problem with 4.3.2 only 4.3.3 both my iPhone4 and my iPad2. I am now beside router - no problem, but go 20 metres and WiFi becomes unstable. Only way to get either to work is disable WiFi either as a Hot Spot or turn it off and use the 3G connection. This worked with 4.3 & 4.3.2 what has gone wrong? I raised it at the Apple Store in Belfast as a problem but was told that there was no problem with Apple but I must have a faulty router - yeah - that's a lot of faulty routers, my home, my office, my holiday home, Starbucks, my friends house, my son's house. I've tried all the 'fixes'. I think it is a plan to force us to buy Apple Routers

Two ways out, I added two more Belkin Access Points in my house in Spain so that I'm not more than 10Mtrs away, (Reinforced Concrete & solar glass 2010)
I bought 3 Apple Airports, 1 x Extreme and 2 x Express (1 as a hard wired AP, 1 as an extender) for my other house (Brick construction 1930's)
Everthing now works perfectly, as I said 'an apple plot', so either blast them with signal or visit your nearest apple store.
Early beta iOS5 (iPad) is also much inproved in Beta 3, I have not had any problem with 'Lion'
    Happy hunting!

  • When i import from my vidio camera into imovie the clips look tall and thin.tied different imports like full size or large but seem to make no difference everything seems to run ok including sound whats going on?   the m

when i import from my video camera into imovie the clips look tall and thin. tried different imports like full size or large have imported both sd and hd but seem to make no difference everything seems to run ok including sound. whats going on?

    Hi Brad,
when you use Streamclip to convert media, use the same name for the exported file (only with different extension). Then make a shell script calling
    touch -r origFileName.mp2 newFileName.mov
This will copy the exact time and date from origFileName.mp2 to newFileName.mov
The script may look like this (save the file, give an exec permission to it and call it in the right directory):
    #!/bin/bash
    for i in `ls *.mp2`; do
    NEWNAME=$(ls "$i" | sed -e 's/mp2/mov/')
    touch -r $i $NEWNAME
    done
You may need to adapt the extension names used (in the example above .mp2 is input file to get the date/time stamp from and .mov is the output file to stamp.
    Have fun and cheers

I have a Macbook Air and the start up disk is full so it will not boot up.  How can I boot it up so I can delete some files?

You will have to see about booting it from another drive or USB flash drive or another computer. When you are able to then see the following:
Freeing Up Space on The Hard Drive
      1. See Lion's Storage Display.
      2. You can remove data from your Home folder except for the /Home/Library/ folder.
      3. Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on freeing up space on your hard drive.
      4. Also see Freeing space on your Mac OS X startup disk.
      5. See Where did my Disk Space go?.
      6. See The Storage Display.
You must Empty the Trash in order to recover the space they occupied on the hard drive.
You should consider replacing the drive with a larger one. Check out OWC for drives, tutorials, and toolkits.
Try using OmniDiskSweeper 1.8 or GrandPerspective to search your drive for large files and where they are located.

If i buy the Tmobile version of the iphone 6 plus and pay full price, is the phone still locked into Tmobile network? Last year my iphone 5s wasn't and on activation i used a diferent sim card

Unfortunately I spent my Saturday AM at the Genius bar last weekend and that is when they gave me the new phone. This was after I also spent about 3 hours total on several apple support calls/chats.

  • I updated my macbook air software and somehow my startup disk is full.

I have about 50Gigs of "other". How do I fix this. The "other" are not things that belong to me as I do not store anything on my macbook... As a result I keep getting "startup disk full" error messages and I cannot download the newest update or the new iTunes to sync my mini. Thanks!

First, empty the Trash if you haven't already done so. Then reboot. That will temporarily free up some space.
According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB free on the startup volume for normal operation. You also need enough space left over to allow for growth of your data.
Use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper (ODS) to explore your volume and find out what's taking up the space. You can delete files with it, but don't do that unless you're sure that you know what you're deleting and that all data is safely backed up. That means you have multiple backups, not just one.
Proceed further only if the problem hasn't been solved.
ODS can't see the whole filesystem when you run it just by double-clicking; it only sees files that you have permission to read. To see everything, you have to run it as root.
    Back up all data now.
Install ODS in the Applications folder as usual.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Triple-click the line of text below to select it, then drag or copy — do not type — into the Terminal window:
    sudo /Applications/OmniDiskSweeper.app/Contents/MacOS/OmniDiskSweeper
Press return. You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up.
I don't recommend that you make a habit of doing this. Don't delete anything while running ODS as root. If something needs to be deleted, make sure you know what it is and how it got there, and then delete it by other, safer, means.
When you're done with ODS, quit it and also quit Terminal.

  • Master Data deletion and data load

    Hi,
In a process chain, Master data of my InfoObject are deleted then reloaded.
My InfoObject is used in cubes and ODS that are loaded later in full or delta.
My question is: what happens if thoses cubes and ODS are loaded when Master data of my InfoObject are blank (=Process chain failure / Master Data of my InfoObject are deleted but not loaded) ?
    Thanks for your answers.

    hi eric
you cant delete the master data , till the time it exits in any of the data target ( cube or ODS).
Now lets say you have new record for master data coming in say , example new material being introduced.
The cube or ODS will take that new mateiral from the transactional data , and to maintain the corresponding the master data when ever it is loaded successfully it will reflect in your reports provided you have maintain/hierarchy attribute change job scheduled.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Monika
