Delete bookmark in batch file

Hello,
I am trying to create a batch file which will delete a certain bookmark name "References". How do I automate this? I have few other items that the batch is already doing that have already been configured. I'm thinking I need some JavaScript to delete the bookmark, but I have no idea where to start.
I have Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro.
Thanks.

In that case you can use this code to do it:
if (this.bookmarkRoot.children!=null) {
    for (var i=0; i<this.bookmarkRoot.children.length; i++) {
        if (this.bookmarkRoot.children[i].name=="References") {
            this.bookmarkRoot.children[i].remove();
            break;

  • Mac OS deletes Bookmarks, History and files to a point of time

    hello,
    i have a serious problem! my Snow Leopard erases after returning to desktop (minimum 1 hour) from Screensaver my bookmarks always. recently it has deleted 20 GB of personal photos. every day in Crash-Log folder appearing several new log files. currently i do not use the screen saver, but it is a hard cutback.
    there are made lot of callings to the Apple support and my trader. they changed lot of hardware (without Superdrive and display), but it's the same always.
    i am really unhappy about my situation, especially about the deleted pictures. actually i am very careful with my datas. but due to the unnoticed erasing i have overwritten my backup with the wrong datas. and no, TimeMachine isn't usable with FileVault.
    my question is:
    what can I do, to trace the error? what are the first steps? software, readings etc.
    some more information about the error:
    1. the problem appeard the first after copying my entire datas from external to internal harddrive. i have executed only Apple apps (e.g. Textedit or Safari)- nothing special (e.g. addons or external apps).
    2. bookmarks become deleted only from a special point of time. after a installation i replacing the bookmark.plist for my older bookmark.plist. the erasing deletes only the newer bookmarks.
    3. with the deleted picture the special point of time is the 6th februar. not matter whether or not there was been a installation. i made lot of them. the same pictures became deleted from two different folders- very odd.
    4. in former installation, i have imported the Safari history. this is deleted to a point of time as the bookmarks, too. recently i do not copy that, and the problem didn't appeard since then.
    really thanks a lot for help!

    hello, serious thanks for trying to help!
    Is the internal drive your boot volume?
    yes, it is
    What exactly did you copy, just pics and docs and music, or did you try and move an entire account? You can copy the files, but you cannot just copy an account if it is the only account on the system.
    no, i havn't tried to copy an entire account. it is been a clean install. the problem occured the first time direct after copying my 430 GB of data and bookmarking a randomly site. after a while i copy system relevant (old) data from external drive to internal.
    after a while i copy from user library the bookmark.plist file, complete folder of "Calendar", complete folder of "Address Book" and keychains "login.keychain" file.
    You mention that you lost 20G of pics. Is this not still on your external drive? Just copy them back.
    impossible, as i have written: the erasing didn't displayed any warning or hints. after all, i backuped my (faulty) data from internal to external backup drive. after a while i recognized the erasing- to late.
    Time Machine don't support FileVault.
    The bookmarks problem. The new bookmarks are going to be lost as you are replacing the file from a previous date.
    no. once after a new clean install and copying of all my data, but without my user library and upper described data, i made a test. i bookmarked randomly an internet site and launched the screensaver. voila: bookmark gone.
    I am starting to see a pattern here and it starts with
    installing the system.
    The system comes preinstalled and you
    create an account on first boot. From that account you can
    add file and folders (doc, movies music pics) as you see fit.
    you can install apps to your hearts content,
    I have several hundred. I strongly recommend that you, as a user, do not modify anything in the system or library folders.
    sure, first appearance happend before i have copied upper described library data.
    I am not sure why you feel the need to turn on FileVault as long as you are not doing something that calls for that level of security. A quality password with at least 12 characters (numbers and letters) and there are several option in the general security pane of system preferences you could use.
    i know, but i am lot on the road with lot of personal and important data. so, in case of burglary i know that my data is safe.
       You appear to be reinstalling your system on different occasions. Back up your system before any changes that you do! There are basically two options for install OSX erase and install and install. A install will upgrade your system and leave your account in tact (you must turn off  fileVault). So your account is the same as before you did the install and nothing has to be changed for Safari or your printers. If you move your account back from a previous backup, it may be out of sync with the version that you installed. Should you with to reinstall your account, either use timemachine of migration assist.
    i make always a clean install. first i erase with Disk Utility my drive, once i have overwritten entire drive with 0. then i install Mac OS, activate FileVault, activate encoding RAM, copy my data.
    Be careful with your files and do check the dates on the files that you rare moving. Copy over newer ones and data will be lost!
    i am very carefully with my data. after every backupping my system, i am checking randomly the backup.

    By using RandomAccessFile i am creating a file
    please help me
    Thankyou

    1) You can't execute a batch without having a shell.
    2) It's totally stupid to run a one-line batch file from system.exec.
    3) It's also totally stupid to delete a file using Runtime altogether.
    But there you go...

  • Delete folder in a particular scenario using batch file

    How to achieve this using a batch file?
    The batch file should check if inside this folder "c:\test\", a directory named "temp1" only is present. If so then delete the folder test, but if the folder test contains more directories and files other than "temp1" directory, then just remove the "temp1" directory alone.
    Regards,
    Mathan

    First, why are you asking about this in a LabVIEW forum? I would suggest starting with Google.
    Second, you could simplify your algorithm by deleting temp1 and then checking if the test dir is empty or not. The Windows command is rd, if memory serves, but I believe that doesn't work on non-empty directories, so you might need to add switches to it or use another command. You could probably even simplify it by trying to delete test and letting it fail, so something like this:
    del c:\test\temp1\*.* (add switch for quiet mode).
    rd c:\test\temp1 (and check if there is a recursive switch)
    rd c:\test (should fail if not empty).
    Try to take over the world!

    For some reason, I can not delete bookmarks. I did one at a time, then tried 5 or 6 and it worked once then no more. I then tried 1 at a time and it worked once the no more. Why is this happening? This is a brand new computer (Win7) and FF just loaded about 3 hours ago. Do not know how the bookmarks even got in there. Some were ok, but no order and some that were never bookmarks. Looks like FF tried to import some BM's from the Virtual XP installed, but did not get it any where near right. I need to completely delete all of them and install from a saved .html file.

    Well, I did not see the exact problem that I was having listed in the articles, BUT the problem is solved for now.
    I opened FF and the Bookmarks to Organize again. I deleted all of the folders and entries, ONE AT A TIME, AND IT WORKED. Evidently, for what ever reason, FF did not like "Batch" deletes of ANY amount greater than 1 and the HANG UP would occur.
    Deleting one at a time then importing the good .html from a good file, loaded the wanted Bookmarks. Yea

  • Executing batch file from Java stored procedure hang

    Dears,
    I'm using the following code to execute batch file from Java Stored procedure, which is working fine from Java IDE JDeveloper 10.1.3.4.
    public static String runFile(String drive)
    String result = "";
    String content = "echo off\n" + "vol " + drive + ": | find /i \"Serial Number is\"";
    try {
    File directory = new File(drive + ":");
    File file = File.createTempFile("bb1", ".bat", directory);
    file.deleteOnExit();
    FileWriter fw = new java.io.FileWriter(file);
    fw.write(content);
    fw.close();
    // The next line is the command causing the problem
    Process p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("cmd.exe /c " + file.getPath());
    BufferedReader input = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(p.getInputStream()));
    String line;
    while ((line = input.readLine()) != null)
    result += line;
    input.close();
    file.delete();
    result = result.substring( result.lastIndexOf( ' ' )).trim();
    } catch (Exception e) {
    e.printStackTrace();
    result = e.getClass().getName() + " : " + e.getMessage();
    return result;
    The above code is used in getting the volume of a drive on windows, something like "80EC-C230"
    I gave the SYSTEM schema the required privilege to execute the code.
    EXEC DBMS_JAVA.grant_permission('SYSTEM', 'java.io.FilePermission', '&lt;&lt;ALL FILES&gt;&gt;', 'read ,write, execute, delete');
    EXEC DBMS_JAVA.grant_permission('SYSTEM', 'SYS:java.lang.RuntimePermission', 'writeFileDescriptor', '');
    EXEC DBMS_JAVA.grant_permission('SYSTEM', 'SYS:java.lang.RuntimePermission', 'readFileDescriptor', '');
    GRANT JAVAUSERPRIV TO SYSTEM;
    I have used the following to load the class in Oracle 9ir2 DB:
    loadjava -u [system/******@orcl|mailto:system/******@orcl] -v -resolve C:\Server\src\net\dev\Util.java
    CREATE FUNCTION A1(drive IN VARCHAR2) RETURN VARCHAR2 AS LANGUAGE JAVA NAME 'net.dev.Util.a1(java.lang.String) return java.lang.String';
    variable serial1 varchar2(1000);
    call A1( 'C' ) into :serial1;
    The problem that it hangs when I execute the call to the function (I have indicated the line causing the problem in a comment in the code).
    I have seen similar problems on other forums, but no solution posted

    Can anyne help?

    Dear Peter,
    You are totally right, I got this as mistake copy paste. I'm just having a Java utility for running external files outside Oracle DB, this is the method runFile()
    I'm passing it the content of script and names of file to be created on the fly and executed then deleted, sorry for the mistake in creating caller function.
    The main point, how I claim that the line in code where creating external process is the problem. I have tried the code with commenting this line and it was working ok, I made this to make sure of the permission required that I need to give to the schema passing security permission problems.
    The function script is running perfect if I'm executing vbs script outside Oracle using something like "cscript //NoLogo aaa1.vbs", but when I use the command line the call just never returns to me "cmd.exe /c bb1.bat".
    where content of bb1.bat as follows:
    echo off
    vol C: | find /i "Serial Number is"
    The above batch file just get the serial number of hard drive assigned when windows formatted HD.
    Same code runs outside Oracle just fine, but inside Oracle doesn't return if I exectued the following:
    variable serial1 varchar2(1000);
    call A1( 'C' ) into :serial1;
    Never returns
    Thanks for tracing teh issue to that details ;) hope you coul help.

  • How do I make a batch file if the .class file uses a foreign package?

    I am trying to make an MS-DOS batch file using the bytecode file from the Java source file, called AddFields.java. This program uses the package BreezySwing; which is not standard with the JDK. I had to download it seperately. I will come back to this batch file later.
    But first, in order to prove the concept, I created a Java file called Soap.java in JCreator. It is a very simple GUI program that uses the javax.swing package; which does come with the JDK. The JDK is currently stored in the following directory: C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_07. I have the PATH environment variable set to the 'bin' folder of the JDK. I believe that it is important that this variable stay this way because C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_07\bin is where the file 'java.exe' and 'javac.exe' are stored. Here is my batch file so far for Soap:
    @echo off
    cd \acorn
    set path=C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_07\bin
    set classpath=.
    java Soap
    pause
    Before I ran this file, I compiled Soap.java in my IDE and then ran it successfully. Then I moved the .class file to the directory C:\acorn. I put NOTHING ELSE in this folder. then I told the computer where to find the file 'java.exe' which I know is needed for execution of the .class file. I put the above text in Notepad and then saved it as Soap.bat onto my desktop. When I double click on it, the command prompt comes up in a little green box for a few seconds, and then the GUI opens and says "It Works!". Now that I know the concept of batch files, I tried creating another one that used the BreezySwing package.
    After I installed my JDK, I installed BreezySwing and TerminalIO which are two foreign packages that make building code much easier. I downloaded the .zip file from Lambert and Osborne called BreezySwingAndTerminalIO.zip. I extracted the files to the 'bin' folder of my JDK. Once I did this, and set the PATH environment variable to the 'bin' folder of my JDK, all BreezySwing and TerminalIO programs that I made worked. Now I wanted to make a batch file from the program AddFields.java. It is a GUI program that imports two packages, the traditional GUI javax.swing package and the foreign package BreezySwing. The user enters two numbers in two DoubleField objects and then selects one of four buttons; one for each arithmetic operation (add, subtract, multiply, or divide). Then the program displays the solution in a third DoubleField object. This program both compiles and runs successfully in JCreator. So, next I moved the .class file from the MyProjects folder that JCreator uses to C:\acorn. I put nothing else in this folder. The file Soap.class was still in there, but I did not think it would matter. Then I created the batch file:
    @echo off
    cd \acorn
    set path=C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_07\bin
    set classpath=.
    java AddFields
    pause
    As you can see, it is exactly the same as the one for Soap. I made this file in Notepad and called it AddFields.bat. Upon double clicking on the file, I got this error message from command prompt:
    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: BreezySwing/GBFrame

    ... 12 more
    Press any key to continue . . .
    I know that most of this makes no sense; but that it only means that it cannot find the class BreezySwing or GBFrame (which AddFields extends). Notice, however that it does not give an error for javax.swing. If I change the "set path..." command to anything other than the 'bin' folder of my JDK, I get this error:
    'java' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
    operable program or batch file.
    Press any key to continue . . .
    I know this means that the computer cannot find the file 'java.exe' which I believe holds all of the java.x.y.z style packages (native packages); but not BreezySwing or any other foreign packages. Remember, I do not get this error for any of the native Java packages. I decided to compare the java.x.y.z packages with BreezySwing:
    I see that all of the native packages are not actually visible in the JDK's bin folder. I think that they are all stored in one of the .exe files in there because there are no .class files in the JDK's bin folder.
    However, BreezySwing is different, there is no such file called "BreezySwing.exe"; there are just about 20 .class files all with names like "GBFrame.class", and "GBActionListener.class". As a last effort, I moved all of these .class files directly into the bin folder (they were originally in a seperate folder called BreezySwingAndTerminalIO). This did nothing; even with all of the files in the same folder as java.exe.
    So my question is: What do I need to do to get the BreezySwing package recognized on my computer? Is there possibly a download for a file called "BreezySwing.exe" somewhere that would be similar to "java.exe" and contain all of the BreezySwing packages?

    There is a lot of detail in your posts. I won't properly quote everything you put (too laborious). Instead I'll just put your words inside quotes (").
    "..there are some things about the interface that I do not like."
    Like +what?+ This is not a help desk, and I would appreciate you participating in this discussion by providing details of what it is about the 'interface' of webstart that you 'do not like'. They are probably misunderstandings on your part.
    "Some of the .jar files I made were so dangerously corrupt, that I had to restart my computer before I could delete them."
    Corrupt?! I have never once had the Java tools produce a corrupt Jar. OTOH, the 'cannot delete' problem might relate to the JRE gaining a file lock on the archive at run-time. If the file lock persisted after ending the app., it suggests that the JRE was not properly shut down. This is a bug in the code and should be fixed. Deploying as .class files will only 'hide' the problem (from casual inspection - though the Task Manager should show the orphaned 'java' process).
    "I then turned to batch files for their simple structure and portability (I managed to successfully transport a java.util containing batch file from my computer to another). This was what I did:
    - I created a folder called Task
    - Then I copied three things into this folder: 1. The file "java.exe" from my JDK. 2. The program's .class file (Count.class). and 3. The original batch file.
    - Then I moved the folder from a removable disk to the second computer's C drive (C:\Task).
    - Last, I changed the code in the batch file...:"
    That is the +funniest+ thing I've heard on the forums in the last 72 hours. You say that is easy?! Some points.
    - editing batch files is not scalable to 100+ machines, let alone 10000+.
    - The fact that Java worked on the target machine was because it was +already installed.+ Dragging the 'java.exe' onto a Windows PC which has no Java will not magically make it 'Java enabled'.
    And speaking of Java on the client machine. Webstart has in-built mechanisms to ensure that the end user has the minimum required Java version to run the app. - we can also use the [deployJava.js|http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/technotes/guides/jweb/deployment_advice.html#deplToolkit] on the original web page, to check for minimum Java before it puts the link to download/install the app. - if the user does not have the required Java, the script should guide them through installing it.
    Those nice features in deployJava.js are available to applets and apps. launched using webstart, but they are not available for (plain) Jar's or loose class files. So if 'ensuring the user has Java' is one of the requirements for your launch, you are barking up the wrong tree by deploying loose class files.
    Note also that if you abandon webstart, but have your app. set up to work from a Jar, the installation process would be similar to above (though it would not need a .bat file, or editing it). This basic strategy is one way that I provide [Appleteer (as a downloadable ZIP archive)|http://pscode.org/appleteer/#download]. Though I side-step your part 1 by putting the stuff into a Jar with the path Appleteer/ - when the user expands the ZIP, the parts of the app. are already in the Appleteer directory.
    Appleteer is also provided as a webstart launched application (and as an applet). Either of those are 'easier' to use than the downloadable ZIP, but I thought I would provide it in case the end user wants to save it to disk and transport the app. to a machine with no internet connection, but with Java (why they would be testing applets on a PC with no internet connection, I am not sure - but the option is there).
    "I know that .jar and .exe files are out because I always get errors and I do not like their interfaces. "
    What on earth are you talking about? Once the app. is on-screen, the end user would not be able to distinguish between
    1) A Jar launched using a manifest.
    2) A Jar launched using webstart.
    3) Loose class files.
    Your fixation on .bat files sounds much like the adage that 'If the only tool you have is a hammer, every job starts to look like a nail'.
    Get over them, will you? +Using .bat files is not a practical way to provide a Java app. to the end user+ (and launching an app. from a .bat looks quite crappy and 'second hand' to +this+ user).
    Edit 1:
    The instructions for running Appleteer as a Jar are further up the page, in the [Running Appleteer: Application|http://pscode.org/appleteer/#application] section.

  • I want to create a "batch file" that will copy files from one folder into another, overwriting what is currently in there.

    I've got a game that has a folder with Saved Games (Okay, it's Minecraft). I don't always have my external drives because I take my Mac Mini from my house to my friend's house and of course back after we finish playing.
    There are times where I want a back up so that if something happens we can restore it as easily as possible.
    What I've been doing is copying the particular saved game and pasting it to my desktop, replacing the new backup over the old backup. I'd like to be able to create a "batch file" so that I can just double-click on it and it will copy and paste overwriting the old version.
    Since this is being automated I've been thinking. It would be nice to have 10 backups which I would like to have numbered from 1 to 10 (and not 0 to 9).
    I'd like the batch file to delete backup 10 then rename backup 9 to 10 and 8 to 9 and so forth until backup 1 becomes backup 2 and then my live copy then gets copied to my desktop. I guess that one really doesn't need a number after it. It can have the exact same name.
    Don't worry about automating the restore. I just want the backup part of it automated. I'm not a UNIX guy but I've tried to figure it out and it is just not working. So ... if someone out there can reply with a solution for me that would be great.
    Extra credit for automatically compressing the backups with the built in compression utility so my backups use less space.
    Thanks in advance.

    I have another psd (adjustment_layer.psd) file that only has one layer, and it is an adjustment layer. .
    That is possible. An adjustment layer must be over a layer. The layer that it is over can have its visibility off but there needs to at least two layers in your (adjustment_layer.psd) file.  For you can not have and adjustment layer without a layer to adjust.
    Are all your PSD file the same in size  x px by y px at z DPI?
    It would be easy to create an action just to add the adjustment layer you want if your (adjustment_layer.psd) file adjustment layer, layer mask is a reveal all or hide all mask. You can Batch the action or use the Image processor script and have it include your action that add the adjustment layer  you do not need to write a script.
    I would also record that action to add the adjustment layer clipped to the layer below. There is a bug in CS4 and CS5 Action Player. Actions that have recorded adding adjustment layers to be applied to all layers below may play incorrectly.  You will have to pay to get a fix  for this bug for Adobe is not going to apply a fix the the current releases of Photoshop. The bug is so far slated to be fixed in CS6 time will tell.

    I can't delete bookmarks page in my bookmarks list on toolbars, maybe there is a little bugs. Thx.

    A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

  • When I scroll over bookmarks a long list that I moved to my new computer as HTML show up, but when I try to bookmark a new file, and select "choose" no files in my list show up. I also can't seem to find "organize bookmarks"

    I can't organize or add to my files. I just got a new computer and wanted to save old Firefox bookmarks. As above, when I drop down my menu of bookmarks and files, all the ones I imported are there. However, when I try to bookmark a new website and try to "choose" a place to organize it, none of my past bookmarks and files for organizing bookmarks show up. Help!

    Hi,
    You can try deleting the '''places.sqlite''' file which stores the bookmarks + history, in your [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder Firefox Profile Folder] after exiting Firefox. You can also open the profile folder via Firefox '''Help''' ('''Alt '''+ '''H''') > '''Troubleshooting Information''' > '''Open Containing Folder'''. The file will be recreated at the next Firefox startup. You can restore the bookmarks from a backup or via '''Bookmarks''' ('''Alt''' + '''B''') >''' Show All Bookmarks''' > '''Import and Backup''' > '''Restore'''. From here you can also '''Export Bookmarks to HTML''' and later '''Import Bookmarks from HTML'''.
