Deleted email account trouble.

Ok so I use to have an old yahoo mail account that I do not uses since switching to gmail and it has been deleted from my phone. However, anytime I type an email, old contacts and people that were not contacts but that I just sent messages to are showing up under the list of names to select. I want to know if there is any way to purge my phone of these addresses? None of them are saved to my contacts on my phone.

I found a workaround to force an account to be POP3 rather than IMAP when both are available on a server.  This option may not be available to everyone, but you can set up an email account on the iPad for a server that ONLY supports POP3.  Once the iPod sets up that account, you can go back and change all the parameters of that account to point to the account you really want that does both POP3 and IMAP.  The iPad will continue to treat the editted account as POP3 rather than IMAP.

  • Delete contacts from a deleted email account??? (sounds confusing I know)

This will require an explanation before I can get to my question so here I go. I have several email accounts that sync to my phone. I have now deleted one of my email accounts. The problem is that when I compose an email from any of the remaining email accounts still on my phone and start to type the name of the contact that I want to send the email to contacts from the deleted email account are still being displayed. I need to be able to remove the contacts from the deleted email account from my phone. These are contacts that are not part of my phone contacts. They are contacts that I have replied to from the deleted email account. If I have not clearly described my issue please let me know. Thanks for any suggestions anyone may have.

There is a system-wide email address cache. The only way to clear that cache is to perform a Restore via iTunes, and set your phone up as new (the list is backed up), meaning you'd need to reload all your content, redo your settings, etc.

Check the outgoing mail server setting. Make sure that your username and password are in there.
Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Your email account>Account>Outgoing mail server - tap the server name next to SMTP and check in the primary server and make sure your username and password are entered and correct - even if it says that the password is optional.

Maybe ask someone in the Apple iPad forum.  This is the Snow Leopard forum.

  • How to delete EMAIL accounts

I am using Nokia E72. could you please suggest how to delete EMAIL accounts from Mobile

If the accounts have been set up with Nokia Messaging, then go to email.nokia.com, log in there with the details of the first account you set up, and then you can delete accounts you don't need.
Once done when the phone next syncs it will remove them from the phone.
If they are manually configured accounts, then on the phone, just go to Email->Settings-> scroll to the account -> Options -> Remove mailbox

  • HT5361 Just now accidentally deleted email account. No warning appears and was deleted. Mail was not back up ed. Does exist any way how for Undo of this delete operation (need to recover mails and contacts there)

I just accidnetally deleted email account and there wa sno warining so it went through and I lost all my emails. The email was not Back up. Is there any way how this account could be recovered?

If the account was an IMAP account your emails should re-appear if you recreate the email account. If the account was POP you hopefully have backup (TIme Machine?) you can restore the emails from.

  • How do you stop the phone from attempting to logon to a deleted email account?

When I first got my phone Skype video was not available so I opened a Yahoo email account so that I could use them for video calls.  I got frustrated with the phone in that about half of the time that I turned it on it would tell me that it couldn't connect to the Yahoo servers due to an invalid password.  Other times it would connect successfully.
I went to the default email app and found an option to delete the Yahoo account.  I even went to the Yahoo web site and deleted the email account from there.
I thought that I had successfully deleted the account but now I get a message that the phone can't access the Yahoo servers every time I turn the phone on.  Any ideas on how to stop the phone from attempting to access the Yahoo email servers?
I've checked and the email app doesn't list Yahoo and I can't find any reference to Yahoo in the apps section.
    Thanks.

Nevermind, I fixed it (I think).  I went into Settings | Accounts & Sync and found Yahoo at the bottom of the list (alphabetically).  I selected it and it had an optiion to delete the account, which I did.

  • How to delete email account on iCloud

How do i delete a email account on icloud and put in a new one ?

If the ID is your the iPad is signed into is your old ID, and if your new ID was created by editing the details of this old ID (rather than being an entirely new ID), go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPad on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

  • Spotlight & Mail Search Not Working After Deleting email Account's '.OfflineCache' File.  How Do I Get Back to Normal?

    Running OSX 10.7.4 and Mail.5.2.
One of 3 email accounts was constantly trying, but unable to synch.  The rotating splines were turning non-stop but not synching (other two email accounts worked just fine.)  After doing some searching on the internet, I found several articles about this.  Many included the symptom of the "Recovered Messages" constantly being recovered/generated.  I had noticed that I would get some recovered messages on occaision, but had never noticed it to be problematic.  These articles suggested that the ".OfflineCache" file for that email account had been corrupted or the root of my problem.  So, I deleted the .OfflineCach file as per this article...
Fix OSX Mail Creating Multiple 'Recovered Message
Well that got my mail working again.  However, I soon noticed that spotlight no longer works and when I try to search mail, it doesn't work.  It will only return a complete email address/contact; it doesn't search the contents of the email.
I tried to get spotlight to re-index the hard drive.  However, when I try to drag a folder or volume to it, I get the error:
Since spotlight and mail search have always worked flawlessly for 5 years, I'm confident this is related to having deleted " .OffflineCache" for that particular email account.  However, it seems strange that mail search won't work for the other email accounts.
Any other tips for getting spotlight back online?
How about the .OfflineCache file.  Will Mail restore it, replace it on it's own?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Also, looking back, not long before this problem started, I was trying to send a single email with numerous pictures ( around 50 or so.)  I forgot to select "medium" for the picture size and it started trying to upload them at full size.  I realized this after a minute or two and cancelled the upload, changed to 'medium' and sent the email with no problem.  I point this out because the "Multiple Recovered Messages" error seems to be related to or being induced by having an excessively large file in the particular mail account's .Offline.Cache file.

Well, a couple days later and it seems that the .offlinecache has been rebuilt.  Finder, Spotlight, & Mail search all seem to be working normally now!

  • How to recover emails from a recently deleted email account.

Help! I deleted an email account a couple of days ago. The person that was using it had her college class emails going there. She has a lot of important class info she needs to recover.
Can I recover the account and/or the emails for her?
    What can I do?
    Please help!
    Thank you so much.

    Sidney! Thanks for your reply.
It if for my account www.goodkarma-cafe.com
    The email was [email protected]
Please note. You may find two accounts for that email because earlier today, in an effort to retrieve the account, I thought that by recreating the account, just a couple of days after that it would prompt me to let me know I recently had an account in that name (since I could not find an answer in the forum, I was grasping at straws).
So the [email protected] account that I deleted a couple of days ago had been in use since about May of 2012. She is in college and was using this email for personal and was receiving and sending important class work from that address. I hope we can recover it.
Do you need my account info? I am [email protected]
    www.goodkarma-cafe.com is my client
    Please let me know.
Thank you so much. I feel so bad for this person. My client had no idea that her class work was saved in this account!

    Welcome to the Support Communities!
If you have email from contacts that are not in your Contacts or Address book, you can follow the instructions below to add them.  Then you can export or backup your Contacts.

  • Deleting email account

I am a .Mac user and have one family email address. I mistakenly created another address which is just a duplicate of my existing account. So now when I get new mail, if I really have 1 new message, the postage stamp has a 2, not a 1. And if I've got 2 new messages, the stamp shows 4, etc. So how do I "uncreate" or delete this duplicate email account?

First of all, quit Mail and make a backup copy of the ~/Library/Mail folder, just in case something goes wrong while trying to solve the problem. You can do this in the Finder by dragging the folder to the Desktop while holding the Option (Alt) key down, for example. This is where all your mail is stored.
Now, go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts, select the account you want to delete, and click on the [-] button.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user's home folder, i.e. ~/Library is the Library folder within the user's home folder.

  • Deleted Email account

I had to delete an email account. Lost all old mail. I can see it in the Time Machine Library.
Can I pull those messages out and plop them into the new account I had to set up?

That did get me started, but the bold item below did not occur. It asked me where I wanted to to restore to. Heck if I could figure that out. Where ever it was it didn't get a new folder there, but rather placed it in the library of the hard drive. I tried to copy it over to the Mailbox but could not.
Finally I used the "Import Mailboxes" command from the File Menu of Mail. Took a couple of tries because although the files from the TM are labeled ".mbox" the type of file to tell it to import is actually just Mac Mail. The Mail app then created a folder in the "On my Mac" section labeled "Imported", and I moved the messages I wanted from there, back to the new account.
I would say that it would have been nice if it did work the way the FAQ states, since I would guess that is what most folk would want to do. If you are pulling a mailbox out of back up, it is probably to restore either messages from an account you had to delete, or to get messages you may have deleted by accident. Either way you just want to get them back into mail and move them back into an inbox. At least for my simple mind that makes sense. Having to figure it out just added stress I didn't need.
    +Apple Mail+
+Start with the Mail application, then click the Time Machine icon in your Dock.+
+Navigate to the desired backup, select the mailbox you want to restore from (and individual messages if desired), and click the Restore button.+
+*TM will make a new folder named Time Machine in the On My Mac section, containing a Recovered Messages mailbox. This avoids duplicating messages in the selected mailbox; you can move or delete individual messages wherever you wish.+*
+If you restore additional mailboxes or messages, Time Machine will make a separate Recovered Messages-1 mailbox for them.+
+Note that you cannot restore Mail data to an alternate location via this method.+

  • DELETED EMAIL ACCOUNT / DELETED NOTES ON IPHONE5

    Hello,
I Just deleted my Universito email account (outlook) from my emails account because I have finished from the University and they closed/deactivated all our email accounts. However, I did not realise that some notes were associated with it, so now because I deleted that account A LOT of my relevant NOTES and contacts are gone with it.
I would appreciate it if someone could please help me out !
    THank you very much

Basically what your looking at in on the Accounts page of the Notes App is where you are saving the notes. On this iPhone, notes are saved on this iPhone and don't sync to other devices. You say you see an account for your Apple ID. I don't know what you mean cause I've not seen that. I do have an iCloud account that syncs to other devices and I created the account in Settings > iCloud > Notes and I was prompted to create the account. If that's what you mean by Apple ID account simple copy and paste the notes from the On this iPhone account to the iCloud account to sync across your devices
    Hope that helps
