DEP shuts down Reader X

Every time I try to open Reader X, or try to open a pdf document with Reader X, the program is shut down by DEP (Data Execution Prevention). I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium SP 2, 32 bit.
Does anyone have any idea how to fix this so I can use Reader X?

N.G.
THANK YOU!
Your 3 step fix worked!
Yes, the issue happened when I opened Reader without opening any pdf, and it also happened whenever I tried to open any and every pdf document.
I am not sure what 3rd party plug-ins are, or where to look for them, but that does not seem to matter. Your 3 step fix solved the problem.
Thank you!

Simple, You have a hardware problem that only Apple can fix. So you need to take it back in to an Apple store and have it fixed by Apple. If it is still within it's one year warranty period it will be free.
If you khaven't bought the Apple care Extended Warranty, Applecare, then I suggest you do that before the standard one year warranty runs out. You can't buy it after that one year warranty runs out and to fix any Mac out of warranty is Very Expensive.

  • Running Widows Vista system, every time I try to copy and paste from Firefox DEP shuts down Word Works

I am using a HP desk top with Windows Vista. When ever I try to copy and paste from Mozilla Firefox, the DEP system shuts down
Microsoft Works Word Processor. I have tried turning off DEP for Works but it still shuts down the Program.

This is might because of your prior change in softwares. so first you have to do run '''sfc''' in run command. and then you see the specific problem which causes this . Since System File Checker (sfc) scan will make Windows replace corrupt or missing system files on your computer.
    * Click Start>All Programs>Accessories>right-click Command Prompt, and select Run as Administrator.
    * Click Continue or supply Administrator credentials if prompted.
    * In the Command Prompt window type the following, and press Enter:
    sfc /scannow
Refer this KB article for more information:

Mail is crashing while processing junk. Try this:
    1. Make sure Mail is not running.
    2. In the Finder, go to HOME/Library/Mail/.
    3. Locate LSMMap2 and move it to the Trash. If you see an LSMMap file there, move it to the Trash too.
    4. Locate MessageRules.plist and move it to the Desktop. If there is a file called MessageRules.plist.backup, move it to the Desktop too. You may also see MessageSorting.plist files there; this is where Mail 1.x stored the rules, and they are no longer used by Mail 2.0, so just move them to the Trash if you see them.
    5. Look for the account folders. The name of each account folder starts with the account type (POP, IMAP, Mac), followed by the account username and the incoming mail server. Open each of the account folders, locate the Junk.mbox folders and move these to the Trash. Note: As a result of doing this, all mail automatically marked as junk by Mail will be lost. If there is a chance that you have legit messages there and you want to preserve them, move them to another mailbox in Mail first -- you may prevent Mail from crashing by shutting down your Internet connection first.
    6. Go to HOME/Library/Mail/Mailboxes/. Locate any Junk.mbox folders there (their name may include the account name in parenthesis), and move them to the Trash. Pay attention to any legit messages that could be there, as in the previous step.
    7. Launch Mail. Go to Mail > Preferences > Junk Mail, enable junk filtering again, and configure it however you wish. You may want to shut down the Internet connection before launching Mail to prevent it from downloading anything until the junk mail filter has been enabled.
If the above solves the problem and you don't have any rules you'd like to preserve or recreating them is not a daunting task, just delete the MessageRules.plist files that were moved to the Desktop and be done with it.

I'm running windows vista 32 bit and windows DEP shuts my itunes down as soon as it begins to load. Help?

I'd start with the following document, with one modification. At step 12 after typing GEARAspiWDM press the Enter/Return key once prior to clicking OK. (Pressing Return adds a carriage return in the field and is important.)

    Any fixes for this problem?

    Hi Masroor ,
Thank you very much for getting back to me with the "fix".
I removed 9.2 and installed 8.3 and can now print PDF files from Reader 8.3 with no problems.
Please let me know when the issues with 9.2/ MS are resolved. (I have checked and printer drivers are updated).

  • Mac shuts down randomly-.

    Hi all,
    Hoping someone can help me.
My macbook keeps shutting down - read a few similar posts, but none of the suggestions seems to have worked. The computer seems to be fine if just playing music or something in the background, but when playing candy crush or watching a video it just freaks out and dies! Screen brightness seems to be an issue too.
Console log refers to error code 1 and error code 255 if that helps.
Tried a new battery and creating a new user - problem still occurs.
Is it worth installing a clean version of OS?
    Any guidance would be appreciated!!
    Thanks
    Bec

  • 2006 Macbook running 10.6.8 shuts down without warning

It's a 2006 Macbook (I bought new in 06) running os x 10.6.8.  Up until 6 months ago no problems what so ever with the computer.  I would be working and every once in a while, it would just shut down.  Replaced the battery less than a year ago.  Power supply (60w charger) had a short, so I replaced that about a week ago.  Computer is still shutting down without warning.  I did the 1.1 update on the OSX but it still acts up.  I'm lucky to be able to use the computer right now (it's been running for 20 minutes...this time).  Would it help if I upgraded to LION, or would it still do it then?  Any help please...I'm a musician and it's my livelyhood.
    Thanks,
    David

When a Mac shuts down without warning, it's doubtful an upgrade will be the fix. You need to find out what's causing the problem.
    Check the startup disk.
Launch Disk Utility located in HD > Applications > Utillities
Select the startup disk on the left then select the First Aid tab.
Click:  Verify Disk  (not Verify Disk Permissions)
If Disk Utility reports errors, restart the Mac while inserting the install disc and holding down the C key simultaneously. From there you should be able to repair the startup disk.
No errors were found, run the Apple Hardware Test >  Using Apple Hardware Test
If installed, anti virus software can cause system anomalies such as an unexpected shut down.

Verify that when the radio interface is shutdown, the workstations can connect to the server immediately. Also ping from the AP to server and workstations to verify if there is any difference seen to the results seen prior to the radio interface being shut down.

    Hi Everyone,

    PLEASE HELP ME...

How exactly did you shut down your laptop? Not a hard restart (holding down the power button), I hope... if that's the case, then it is extremely unlikely the file is still intact on your computer. If it is, it would be an image on your RAM, and it is time-and-resource-intensive to recover it if it is even there. RAM memory is disposable and always being written over. Sorry dude...
If it wasn't a hard restart, Keynote should have made a backup, unless you 'Force Close'd it.
It really all depends on how your mac was shut down.

  • Used safe start to try and fix issues with safari on MacBook Pro but it shuts down right after it stops. What can I do.

Safari kept shutting down and someone suggested trying a safe start to correct issue. All this did was create a new oils sue as my MacBook Pro OS X 10.9.1 system only begins the safe start within lay a small portion of the bar filling and then shuts down. Now I cannot even get back to my regular screen.

    artbyval,
    what is an “oils sue”?
Have you tried booting into your recovery partition? To do so, hold down a Command key and the R key as you start up. It should eventually show a Mac OS X Utilites menu, from which Disk Utility can be selected. In Disk Utility, select the disk that your MacBook Pro boots from (typically named “Macintosh HD”). Once the disk is selected, press the “Verify Disk” button; if it shows problems, press the “Repair Disk” button. Once the verification/repair is complete, restart normally, to see if you can login as normal. Once you can log in again, see if Safari still has the same problem with shutting down.

  • Lion shut down

I have been following some of the discussions re Lion not shutting down, and have the same problem for the past three months or so (never had a problem with it before - it just suddenly started with the grey screen and the icon turning and nothing further). So I have been doing a 'manual' shutdown since the problem started. I suddenly however also developed major problems with Parallels and Windows 7 - too numerous to begin to mention here - have to get on-site support (again!) for that whenever I have a day that I don't need my Mac. One of the problems however seems to be that whenever I have shut down my iMac the previous day after work and restarted it again the next morning, Parallels and Windows have stopped working altogether, and then it takes me day of reinstalling everything etc. So, I have essentially developed a mortal fear of shutting down my iMac.
Sorry, long sad story, but all I actually really want to know: how important is it to shut down the iMac? Can I keep it running until I have eventually sorted out all the Parallels and Windows problems, even if it may be a week or more? Or should it be shut down every now and then? I think you will gather than I am just a regular user, so sorry if the question seems a bit basic....

I leave my iMac running 24/7.  But you should be able to shut it down when necessary.  Have you tried repairing permissions and running a filesystem check?  Have you tried logging out first, then shutting down?  Repeated forced shut downs aren't such a great idea.  You may want to check in Activity Monitor and see if there's a hung process before shutting down.

  • Do additional hard drives need to be "ejected" before I shut down?

    I know this a total rookie question,but I just installed (2) WD Caviars(500 gb ea.)for
music(ProTools)and video, respectively.I am wondering do I need to "eject" their icons everytime
I shut down?In the past I've used external drives for the Pro Tools stuff, and ALWAYS had to make sure to eject first, before I powered down, this is the first time I've added internal drives.
Also, are these drives always spinning and "on"?The external drives had an on/off switch.
I would like to save power/wear and tear/ and not have these running when I'm not using them.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated

The only time you need to eject a drive is if you are going to disconnect or turn off the drive and keep the computer running. If you shut down (not just sleep) the computer, it dismounts (ejects) all drives, so it is safe to disconnect or turn them off after the computer has shut down.
