Deploy an  ADF-UIX project

Hi all!
I build a web application workspace, so I have a "model" project in witch I put some business components from tables. In ViewController project I use adf-uix. My problem is I can't deploy my work. How can I do this. I suppose that I should deploy first my "Model" project.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Luigi --
You'll be better posting this to the specific JDeveloper forum. The people who know all about ADF are there and will be able to help you out.

  • URGENT: Deployment of ADF UIX application to Oracle App Server 10g

    Hi,
    Please let me know of documentation of how to deploy an ADF UIX application developed using Jdeveloper9.0.5.2 to Oracle Application Server 10g.
    I have already created an WAR and EAR deployment profile. and also an ORacle APp server connection from the connections tab in Jdeveloper.
    Thanks a lot.

    Have a look at the JDeveloper online help (F1) there is a complete chapter about deploying:
    http://helponline.oracle.com/jdeveloper/help/state/content/destination.2%7E9%7E1%7E6%7E/navSetId.jdeveloper/oldNavId.0/navId.0/oldNavSetId.jdeveloper/
    Basically you need to deploy the ADF runtime libraries (use the ADF Runtime Installer), and then deploy your WAR.

  • Adf uix, removing date picker

    I am working (with jdev 10.1.2) to an adf uix project. In some messagedatefield the date picker is not useful, and I don’t want the user to try to use it. How can I remove it?
    Thanks in advance, Mauro

    You can use the messageTextInput with a onSubmitValidator
    <onSubmitValidater>
    <date dateStyle="short"/>
    </onSubmitValidater>
    This will validate that the input is of the short date format.

  • ADF UIX: How to define a binding's subtype?

    In an ADF-UIX project, we have deleted a binding which had been automatically created by a drag and drop operation that generated a multirecord master-detail form.
    When we try to recreate the binding using the binding editor (in application navigator, mouse right click and select the ...UIModel.xml file -> Create Binding), we choose to create a binding of type "range" (since the icon is of the same type than the icons for bindings generated automatically for a multirecord detail), however we get a binding of subtype "DCTable" instead of a "DCHGrid". There doesn't seem to be any way to create a "DCHGrid" binding and the UIModel.xml file is not editable.
    The problem is that the DCTable doesn't render properly when the UIX form is run.
    Any suggestions?

    The reason for deleting it was because the Data Binding is not always correclty refreshed after a column is added to the underlying VO. Initially we thought it would be necessary to recreate the binding, but using the drag & drop method would have been costly as the form was complex and a lot had been modified after the initial drag & drop operation.
    The case where the refresh on the binding is not made is when the binding is displaying all the attributes available within the iterator. Surprisingly, if the binding is only using a subset of the attributes of the iterator, then a new attribute on the underlying VO is immediately displayed.

    Hi All,
    I've a small deployment issue which you guys might be able to help me with.

    Has anyone been able to deploy ADF JSF project with JHeadstart using JDeveloper 10.1.3.3.0 to Oracle 10G AS 10.1.2.0.2? I'm using window environment. Any feedback is much appreciated. Thank you for your assistance and have a nice day.

    Hi all,
    I had also tried out something else...
    I am now portalizing the ADF application using PortalFacesBridge and portlet.xml. Then I deploy it on the Local OC4J of my system and expose it as a WSRP Portlet using the url: 'http://hostname:portname/warFileName/info and generating a WSDL URL...
    I am then using this WSDL URL to regester this portalized application on the Oracle Portal10.1.4 which i am able to accomplish successfully...
    However after regestration, when I try to view this on the portal page, It is throwing the following error:-
    Error: Could not get markup. The cookie or session is invalid or there is a runtime exception.
    Also I would like to add that this method was working perfectly fine previously...
    What might be the clue for this sudden error...
    Any kind of help is greatly appriciated... Thanks...

  • Anyone deploy ADF(UIX,Struts,BC4J) to 9iAS 9.02?

    Has anyone been successful in deploying a ADF 10g app using UIX/Struts/BC4J to Oracle 9iAS 9.02?

    Deploying a UIX application directly from JDeveloper 10g to iAS 9.0.2 isn't supported out of the box. You can deploy directly to iAS 10g (9.0.4), standalone OC4J 10g (9.0.4) instances (one is included with JDeveloper 10g), iAS 9.0.3 Java edition, standalone OC4J 9.0.3, and selected third party servlet engines.
    There are two issues that you would need to workaround to deploy a 10g ADF application to iAS 9.0.2. One issue is that 9.0.2 versions of some of the ADF libraries (BC4J and UIX for example) are on the global application.xml classpath of the iAS 9.0.2 customer home OC4J instance. You would need to manually upgrade your 9.0.2 instance to have all of the ADF 10g libraries. The second issue is that some of the ADF 10g libraries (like BC4J) require JDK 1.4, and iAS 9.0.2 shipped with an earlier version of the JDK. I personally don't know if using iAS 9.0.2 with JDK 1.4 is a supported combination, but I will try to find out for you.
    By the way, you might wonder why we don't have these same problems with with iAS 9.0.3 and 9.0.4 since the ADF 10g libraries are more recent than what shipped with those releases. In OC4J 9.0.3 and 9.0.4 there is a "search-local-classes-first" option in orion-web.xml that allows classes provided as part of a web application to be loaded in preference to what is on the global application.xml classpath. We use this feature to deploy ADF 10g applications (and include the JARs for some of the ADF libraries in the WEB-INF/lib of the application). In addition, there is a tool called the ADF Installer that is part of JDeveloper that will upgrade versions of some of the backward compatible ADF libraries (like BC4J) in the global application.xml.

    Hi Anubha,
    This error is reported from the model layer and not from UIX layer. If you would like to see more repsonse on this, it would be better if you can change the subject and post a new message with subject like - "Exception encountered from ADFm layer with deployed application." You may get more reponse.
    Thanks,
    Vijay Venkataraman

    Hi Anubha,
    This error is reported from the model layer and not from UIX layer. If you would like to see more repsonse on this, it would be better if you can change the subject and post a new message with subject like - "Exception encountered from ADFm layer with deployed application." You may get more reponse.
    Thanks,

    One immediate thing: "EA6" is in the tag library namespaces, but you're using EA12.
    In general, there've been a lot of changes between EA6 and EA12, but the changed namespace is one simple thing.

  • JDeveloper - ADF Faces projects - calling a jspx from another project

    I have an ADF Faces project which has a jspx file and a backing bean. The jspx file is called 1.jspx and the backing bean is called 1.java. Navigation within the page and outside of the page is controlled by the faces-config.xml.
    However, I want to be able to navigate to another jspx in another project. Let's call this jpx, 2.jspx. How would I be able to make this call without losing the current context in my first project? Please note I do not want to have to copy the 2.jspx and 2.java files into my current project.
    Thanks
    Chris

    Hi,
    according to the JavaEE specs, a J2EE context demarks the scope of a session, which means that as soon as you call out to another application, you start a new session, loosing all the information of the other session. So if you don't want to deploy this all in one application, then you have to find a way of persisting context information (e.g. using a shared database instance)

  • Cann't launch the ADF Swing Project

    Hello,
    I have created java-application(swing,adf bc) in Jdev10.1.3, and created the Java Web Start(JNLP) files for the application ,run ant target: sign. it created all files ,build ok.
    but when I run the local.html in the Jdev1013, it open IE window, then I clicke the Launch JClient Link and it asks me to download the local.jsp file or open the file.
    If I download , the file "local.jsp.jnlp" would be saved, if I open, it display beblow:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="Big5" ?>
    - <jnlp spec="1.0" codebase="http://127.0.0.1:8991/TestJClient-View-context-root">
    - <information>
    <title>Title</title>
    <vendor>Vendor</vendor>
    <description>My ADF Swing Project</description>
    </information>
    - <security>
    <all-permissions />
    </security>
    - <resources>
    <j2se version="1.3+" />
    <jar href="client.jar" />
    <jar href="mymt.zip" />
    <extension name="common" href="localmt.jsp" />
    </resources>
    <application-desc main-class="test.view.test" />
    </jnlp>
    I review the local.jsp in Jdev1013, find some error "should not exist the element jnlp" about below:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="Big5"?>
    <jnlp spec="1.0" codebase="<%= buf.toString() %> ">
    Maybe that is jdev1013 bug.
    Anyone know the reason or how to deal with the error ?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    you are mixing releases here. You start with JClient in JDeveloper 10.1.2 and end up with ADF Swing in 10.1.3. Now what is the release you have the problem with. For 10.1.2 we have a whitepaper explaining how to use Java WebStart. We didn't upgrade this paper for 10.1.3, but I get Web Start deployment working when i tried it last time in JDeveloper 10.1.3.
    Note that no file should be downloaded to teh client and instead the JSP file should be executed to generate the JNLP file

  • ADF UIX programatic data binding

    Oracle ADF UIX Developer's Guide mentions the possibility to use the UIX framework in Java, to create new objects or alter the existing ones.
    E.g. we can create a table using a construct like:
    TableLayoutBean tlb = new TableLayoutBean();
    The same document demonstrates the data binding:
    BoundValue rows = new DataBoundValue(_YOUR_NAMESPACE, YOURNAME, "rows");
    tlb.setIndexedNodeList(new DataObjectListNodeList(rows));
    For "simple" attributes using DataObject DataObjectList, etc. the procedure is clear. But what about creating a data bound table or input text:
    <table model="${bindings.EmpView1}" ... >
    <messageTextInput model="${bindings.DeptCode}"/>
    It’s easy to understand that model="${bindings.EmpView1}" or model="${bindings.DeptCode}" are equivalent to multiple attribute bindings (data, validation, read-only, etc.), but it looks that the classes/methods resolving these equivalences and linking the bean to the corresponding DCControlBinding, are not public (or maybe I was not able to find them).
    How can we obtain programmatically, in Java, the same structure as described above (in XML)? The best would be to use the same classes used when the UIX XML document is parsed to create the page description.
    It would be very nice to be able to use a structure like
    tbl.setModel( new JUCtrlRangeBinding(...) );
    txt.setModel( new JUCtrlValueBinding(...) );
    or maybe
    txt.setAttribute( "model", new TextInputModelBoundValue(...) ) etc.
    In JSF we can do something like:
    ValueBinding vb = application.createValueBinding(value);
    component.setValueBinding(attributeName, vb);
    Can we do something similar in UIX?
    Any help will be appreciated,
    thanks,
    Mircea Ionita

    Since the code is already written, it's a pity that we can't use/extend it. I don't like to say it (sorry) but I find this design choice (implement the "model" only into the XML parsing layer) a little bit strange (or maybe I don't understand... ;-) ). We should (or we are supposed to) be able to do in java everything that we can do in XML.
    I would like to find more support/help for the programmatic approach. I have the feeling that you are too focalised on "use-our-state-of-the-art-tools/wizards-to-write-the-code-for-you" and you forgot that this is not suitable for all projects. E.g. our application creates the user interface according to a layout defined by each user. To generate it, we need to use at maximum the extension mechanism and we can't simply relay on "rendered" attribute etc.
    -When should we expect this new UIX release?
    -What about the UIX controller? The Struts controller will replace it?
    -What about the source code of uixexp2-demo.jar (distributed with ADF_UIX_component_guide)?
    -Why while debugging we can't set a method/class breakpoint on UIX classes (to understand the data flow) - the stack is secret?
    Thanks

  • ADF UIX Role Based Access Control Implementation

    Hi,
    Can anybody suggest a detailed example or tutorials of how to implement a role based access control for my ADF UIX application.
    The application users can be dymanically added to specific roles (admin, Secretary, Guest). Based on the roles, they should be allowed to access only certain links or ADF entity/view operations. Can this be implemented in a centralized way.
    Can this be done using JAZN or JAAS. If so, Please provide me references to simple tutorial on how to do this.
    Thanks a lot.
    Sathya

    Brenden,
    I think you are following a valid approach. The default security in J2EE and JAAS (JAZN) is to configure roles and users in either static files (jazn-data.xml) or the Oracle Internet Directory and then use either jazn admin APIs or the OID APIs to programmatically access users, groups and Permissions (your role_functions are Permissions in a JAAS context).
    If you modelled your security infrastructure in OID than the database, an administrator would be able to use the Delegated Administration Service (DAS), as web based console in Oracle Application Server. To configure security this way, you would have two options:
    1. Use J2EE declarative security and configure all you .do access points in web.xml and constrain it by a role name (which is a user group name in OID). The benefit of this approach is that you can get Struts actions working dirctly with it because Struts actions have a roles attribute.
    The disadvantage is that you can't dynamically create new roles because they have to be mapped in web.xml
    2. Use JAAS and check Permissions on individual URLs. This allows you to perform finer grained and flexible access control, but also requires changes to Struts. Unlike the approach of subclassing the DataActionForward class, I would subclass the Struts RequestProcessor and change the processRoles method to evaluate JAAS permissions.
    The disadvantage of this approach is that it requires coding that should be done carefully not to lock you in to your own implementation of Struts so that you couldn't easily upgrade to newer versions.
    1 - 2 have the benefit of that the policies can be used by all applications in an enterprise that use Oracle Application Server and e.g. SSO.
    Your approach - as said - is valid and I think many customers will look for the database first when looking at implementing security (so would I).
    Two links that you might be interested in to read are:
    http://sourceforge.net/projects/jguard/ --> an open source JAAS based security framework that stores the user, roles and permissions in database tables similar to your approach
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/collateral/papers/10g/adfstrutsj2eesec.pdf --> a whitepaper I've written about J2EE security for Web applications written with Struts and JavaServer pages. You may not be able to use all of it, but its a good source of information.
