Deploying report in web layout.

Hi Friends,
I have developed a report throuhg report builder 9i for both web and paper layout. When I am running this paper layout mode the output format is appearing perfectly but in case of web layout not is appearing properly as well as item with VISIBLE property 'NO' is also appearing.
Please give the solution bit details probably with eaxmple.
Thanks in advance.
Sanjeev

Sanjeev,
Paper and WebLayout are using different informations. For Paper Layout the "classical" Model with fields and frames and corresponding properties is used. For the Web Layout the WebSource (see in Object Navigator) is used. So changing a property in paper layout will not change the web layout (with the exception of using the include-tag in the web source, which references a frame with content from the paper layout).

  • Displaying a Report in Web Layout

    Hello All,
    Can anyone please tell me how to display reports in web layout during runtime. I've created a report in month_report.jsp, having both Web Layout & Paper Layouts. At runtime when I call the report the Paper Layout version is getting displayed. Is there any extra parameter I've to pass.
    For Example if I give the following address
    http://host-110:7778/reports/rwservlet?&report=month_report.jsp&destype=cache&desformat=htmlcss&userid=admin/[email protected]&p_month=JANUARY
    I get to see the Paper Layout version of the report. What I want is the Web layout. Is there any thing or any setting I've change in the Reports server. Kindly help me out on this.
    Regards,

    Thanks for your reply dsegard,
    I tried out your suggestion. It seems the I'm able to access the jsp report. But I'm getting the following error on screen.
    The XML page cannot be displayed
    Cannot view XML input using XSL style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later.
    A name was started with an invalid character. Error processing resource 'http://host-150/test/monthly_rpt.jsp'. Line ...
    <%@ taglib uri="/WEB-INF/lib/reports_tld.jar" prefix="rw" %>
    -^
    I checked by accessing a simple jsp page without a tag library. It's worked fine. I also checked to see whether the corresponding jar file was missing from the library.But it wasn't. Could you please point out what's causing this error.

  • Problem running report in web layout

    Hi
    I have a problem of running my report in web layout.
    If i run the report in web layout it does not show the changes that i made to it , the colors and text sizes and styles, if I used no templates and changed the report manually it will just show the report as before it was modified.
    But when I run it in paper layout every works fine.
    Any ideas about what I'm doing wrong?
    Thanks

    Also I tested with the sample Report Test.rdf (Comes along with installation).
    Even that runs well in Paper Layout and report hangs when run in Web Lay out.
    Please help me with your valuable inputs on this regard.
    Thanks and Regards,

    Thanks Frank,
    No one seems to giving me a reply in the reports forums. They are hard to come by. Could you please direct me to some post which might be helpfull. I just want to know whether there's something wrong with the way I'm calling the report... May be thats the reason that I'm getting the Paper Layout as output instead of Web Layout.

  • Run 10g Report in Web Layout

    Hi,
    I am using Report Builder:10.1.2.0.2 installed on Windows XP (Service Pack 3) and developed simple report. We are using Oracle E-Business Suite R12 and developed report by connecting to the EBS database.
    I have created "Data Model" and designed "Paper Layout". After compiling the report when i tried to run report using "Paper Layout" report generates the report in Paper layout but similarly if i try to to run the report using "Web Layout" then it opens blank Internet Explorer page. I want to see same output with Paper Layout is displaying using Web Layout too. Please guide me with steps i need to perform to achieve the requirement..
    Regards,
    Priyanka

    Hello,
    The web layout (that is, the web source) is primarily used for the .jsp format for added flexibility via the web for web developers using Oracle Reports.
    You will need to add your own code to the "Web Source" in order for anything to be displayed in the web layout. Additionally, any changes made to the Paper Layout will not cross over to the Web Layout per confirmation with Development. You may use the rw:include tag in the Web Source (see Help) to obtain some of the paper layout in your web layout.
    Having a rdf file with only a paper layout, does not mean that this report when run will not display in a web page.
    You can still perform the following with Oracle Reports 9i or higher and use the .rdf to display the paper layout from the web:
    http//webserver.domain:7779/reports/rwservlet?report=you_report.rdf&destype=cache&desformat=html&userid=scott/[email protected]
    Kind regards,
    Alex

  • Pls help me to track post print event in reports 10g (web layout)

    I am displaying a report on the web using WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT built in after calling it from Forms. I want to update some attribute in the database after the report is printed. Where can i place the update statement.
    note:I dont need solution for the reports printed using paper layout.
    Thanks in advance.

    Mr. Marcos, The problem is After-Report trigger will fire when the report is printed in paper layout. when the same report is printed in web layout the After-Report is not firing. It seem that the update code should be included in the Web-Source tab in Object Navigator but I don't know how to script it.

  • How to run a report as Web Layout

    I've just created a simple report and I've run it as Paper Layout. All works well.
    If I try to run it as Web Layout, it waits for a while and then nothing happens.
    As for Oracle Form I've never had such problems, so when I run a form, soon the form gets on the default browser.
    For Oracle Reports do I have to set anything particular? Why doesn't the report open automatically when I run it as Web Layout?
    Thanks in advance

    What is your Reports version and what is the default browser? E.g. Developer 10g does not work with Firefox (see note 419414.1).

  • Using Reports in Web Layout Editor

    I am tring to figure out how to use the commit date of a document to the repository in a historical or active report. I have the option of release date but this will not work for the SLA metrics that I am trying to gather as some documents enter workflow and are not released until the document is approved.
    Does anyone know how to use the date of commit to create a report?
    Thanks

    In order to use parameters you need to develop 2 pages in JSP.
    The first page is where you request the information from the user. The second where you display the data based on those parameters.
    1st page.
    This is essentially a html page with a form. Forms include a method="post" or "get" and an action= "2ndpage.jsp"
    In the form you can use check boxes, radio button, drop down menu etc. Each will have a name. I.e:
    <form name="form1" action="pageName.jsp" method="post">
    <select name="P_TEAM" class="OraCellText">
    <rw:foreach id="team" src="G_TEAM">
    <option value="<rw:field id="f_Id" src="TEAM"></rw:field>">
    <rw:field id="f_desc" src="TEAM"></rw:field>
    </option>
    </rw:foreach>
    </select>
    </form>
    What i'm doint in this page is displaying a list of departmentsl team in the form of a drop down menu. The user select an option from the list and hit the submit button as per below.
    <input type="hidden" name="name" value="userId/[email protected]">
    <input type="submit" name="Submit" value="Start Search!" class="OraCellTextCenter"
    2nd page.
    In this page the query will have a parameter in the where clause and the parameter name will be P_TEAM as this is the name of the drop down menu.
    SELECT PRO.SITE
    ,UPPER(A.ASSIGNEE)ASSIGNEE
    ,COUNT(C.CALLID) COUNT
    FROM CALLLOG c
    WHERE C.CALLSTATUS<>'Closed'
    AND A.GROUPNAME = :P_TEAM
    This is just an example (simple). There are other ways.

  • Web layout of jsp report

    Hi All:
    Please let me know how can i run web layout of jsp report and publish it as portlet?
    I have successfully deployed my jsp report(web layout),namely my_rpt.jsp, as a J2EE application and when i write URL direlctly in address bar of browser it runs successfully.
    I have also published (as portlet) successfully my_rpt.jsp, with "execute" type "servlet", and it runs paper layout of report.
    But i m unable to run the web layout of this report,with "execute" type "JSP"
    i have provided "Oracle Reports Web Gateway URL for JSP reports " = http://webserver.domain_name:port/
    Please help me out whats the problem and how can i run my jsp report with web layout?.One thing more its not the problem with only my_rpt.jsp
    but other reports also shows the same behaviour.
    Any suggestion/solution would be highly appreciated.
    Regards
    Sam

    Hi Sam,
    When you register a report with Portal, you can either register it to be run via servlet or as JSP. If you would like to run the same report via servlet as well as a JSP, you will have to register it twice with Portal.
    If you want to run the report as JSP, keep these steps in mind:
    1. While registering the report, select "Execute as JSP" in step 2 of the registration process.
    2. When you write the "Oracle Reports File Name", provide the virtual path to the JSP. As an example, suppose you have written the following as "Oracle Reports Web Gateway URL for JSP reports "
    http://webserver.domain_name:port/
    And suppose when you run the JSP report successfully outside of Portal, you use the following URL:
    http://webserver.domain_name:port/mycontext_root/my_rpt.jsp
    In this case, you will have to provide the following as the value for "Oracle Reports File Name"
    mycontext_root/my_rpt.jsp
    Notice that the file name is actually not just the file name, but it is qualified by the virtual path to the JSP report (where you have deployed the report).
    If you keep the above 2 steps in mind, you should be able to run the report as JSP from Portal.
    Navneet.
