When trying to change the desktop backgournd the system just spins its wheels (application not responding).
Ver 10.8.2
MacBook Pro

Open Finder, select Go > Go to Folder, type ~/Library/Preferences and delete com.apple.desktop.plist

I worte a Servlet project using JBuilder 7 and TOmcat 4. THis is basically what i am doing...
I am getting an image from database and saving it to a folder in tomcat and then displaying it on a browser.
This application is used by multiple users...
I am saving the Image in Tom-cat...C:\JBuilder7\jakarta-tomcat-4.0.3\webapps\examples\Image1.jpeg
I am also displaying the image from that folder. The problem is when i run the application,
I am seeing the same Image on the screen..Its creating the different Image file, but the image is the same.
If i do a refresh on the page then it displays the new saved Image...
Also, If i save the image on my local and then display it from my local it changes the images as I
click on a Image list...
Following is how it works when i save it and display it from my local, but if i run my application from
another computer i am not able to see any of the images....Because its on my local.

The browser caches images so that it doesn't have to always download the same image for different pages.
You could:
1: Save the new image with a different name and dynamically change the name in the html.
2: Try setting the response headers to prevent the browser from caching the images.
response.setHeader("Pragma", "no-cache");
response.setHeader("Cache-Control", "no-cache");
response.setDateHeader("Expires", 0);

Desktop Pictures Will Not change each day.

I have System Preferences set to change the Desktop Picture each day. When system starts it loads the new picture and then the same one used before loads over it. I have tried to have it change at each login and the same thing happens. If I change it each hour, it works, but when I login each day the first picture starts the same at the last time.
This just started happening a few days ago. It worked fine until then. I have deleted and replaced the com.apple.desktop.plist file several times with out any change in results.

I discovered that for this particular file if you check the "random order" box under Desktop preferences, then the pictures will rotate like the rest of the photo files in the collection

MacBook desktop background will not change

My background pictures would rotate, but a few days ago they stopped, and just a blank blue background shows. I cannot change the background at all, I'm not sure what to try. There were no topics anywhere with this problem!

Actually, I just got off the phone with Apple and they had me do the same thing, along with some additional items (I also had a ScreenSaver problem) listed below:
Here is a list of procedures we went through:
- Navigated to ~/Library
- From /Preferences, deleted:
ByHosts folder
com.apple.desktop.plist
com.apple.preference.desktopscreeneffect.plist
com.apple.screensaver.plist
com.apple.systempreferences.plist
- Deleted contents of Library/Saved Application State folder
- Emptied trash, restarted computer

My desktop image will not resize no matter what I do.

For some reason, I cannot get the images that I use as my desktop wallpaper to do anything but "full screen". I've done restarts and tried every type of image display and nothing works. I have some great wallpaper images, but unless I can do "fit to screen", they're so large you can't see half the image. I don't want to use the ones that come pre-installed. Help!

Yes, my iPhone 5 running ios 7 will not sync in *any* way with itunes now. I can neither add nor remove content via itunes. I just tried to delete 100% of my music from my iphone, it hung forever on "Waiting for changes to be applied" and then when it was finally done... no changes had been applied.
I can't add, remove, change, delete or in any way of any kind sync my iphone with itunes any longer.

Finder Icon will not change! Please help!

I have been customizing the look of of my dockbar on my imac by giving all of my apps new ios 7 style icons.
Yesterday I changed my Finder icon with no problem at all by going to:
System→Library→Core Services→(right click 'Dock'→Show Package Contents)→Contents→Resources.
And replacing the two png files (finder.png) and ([email protected]) with my new images. Yesterday I did this all perfectly fine and it changed to my new icon.
However today I found a better finder icon and decided to change it again to this new version. However what ever I try it will not change to this new icon.
I have followed the exact same steps as before, I have replaced my two png files from yesterday with my new ones and I have checked and re-checked that I am naming the files correctly, and that they are the right format etc.
I have even deleted my original icons that I changed it to yesterday and emptied them from the trash but it is still there even after restarting and shutting down and rebooting.
I have also tried going to terminal and typing 'killall Dock', it still returns with the same icon that I changed it to yesterday, even though I have deleted them from my hard drive.
Please help me this is so frustrating and have wasted many many hours on this.

If the device remains unresponsive or does not turn on (or power on), reset your device.
If there is no video or if the screen remains black, verify that the device has enough charge to turn on:

External Hyperlinks Will Not Change after Publishing

Hi - I'm running the most up to date iWeb and trying to publish external hyperlinks that will not change no matter what I do. They do not overlap, there is no image blocking them, and I have checked and rechecked that they work on iWeb perfectly. I have tried saving each update individually with the inspector, publishing each update individually, re-entering each url then tab or enter - basically everthing suggested on these forums. The site is scullyfilm.com and the external links are to my pages on my squarespace site.
Any ideas?

It's very simple to do and it's virtually impossible to do it wrong.
Here's how I did it.
Went to Squarespace :

Right-clicked a link and copied it :
In iWeb, selected a button and made it a hyperlink. iWeb automagically places the copied link in the URL field :
Repeated for other 3 links.
There's currently ONE hyperlink on your page (last updated 20140113) :

and it links to :
http://scullyfilm.com/casting/
which does not exist.

Fash Images will not load with Firefox

Currently Flash images will not auto load with Firefox on my mac 10.4. All flash images show with an arrow I must click to make them appear every time I visit a page.
I do have the most updated version of Flash (10.2.152.33). I have checked their site for all troubleshooting possibilities as well as the FF forum & nothing has made these images auto load. I do have load Images automatically in my Preferences: Content. This is only happening with Firefox & not all browsers.
I do remember having to add some Security: Install Add-On Exceptions a few updates back in FF back when I had this problem. Adding them fixed the problem, however the next update made the issue reoccur. I've looked for additional exceptions & possibilities to include & found nothing. My current list of add on exceptions include: addons.mozilla.org, getpersonas.com, & update.mozilla.org. Removing these does not fix the problem & re-entering them does not fix the problem. All flash images still show as arrows that must be clicked to load to view for my Firefox browser only. This does not occur in any other browser.

alright. I've found that Firefox has a Flashblock setting & I have found a way to disable it if I customize & add an icon to my toolbar however I would like to learn how to change that setting without having to add that icon. Where in the settings does it allow me to change/adjust the flashblock?

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

You can change the phone number the verification code is sent to from a device or Mac that has your iCloud keychain enabled as follows:
In iOS 8, tap Settings > iCloud > Keychain > Advanced. In iOS 7, tap Settings > iCloud > Account > Keychain. Make sure the phone number under Verification Number is correct. If not, enter another phone number.
In OS X Mavericks v10.9, choose Apple () > System Preferences. Click iCloud, then click Account Details. Make sure the phone number under Verification number is correct. If not, enter another phone number.
If you don't have access to a device or Mac with your iCloud keychain enabled, you'll have to contact Apple support to verify your identity and get assistance making the change: http://www.apple.com/support/icloud/contact/.
