Desktop Integration Suite Document Profile selection?

Is there a way with the DIS (10g) to pre-set or allow the user to select a particular Document Profile so that the Check-In form presented is tailored to the user? Right now the Standard Check-in form is presented which includes meta data information that just doesn't pertain to the context of their Check-in. I reviewed the DIS documentation but didn't see anything jump out at me.

It looks like Profiles are available via DIS in 11g and that you can use DIS 11g against a 10g Content Server. However, in order to use Profiles in DIS 11g the Help File says the Content Server must also be 11g. This would explain why my Profiles drop down is grayed out.
+"Please note that profiles are available only if you are connecting to Oracle Content Server 11gR1. They are not available for 10gR3 or 7.5.2 servers. Contact your content server administrator if you need any assistance."+

  • Copy the file in Desktop Integration suite always gets Public security grp.

    Hi,
We are trying to integrate Desktop Integration suite for the users to drop files in UCM through the windows explorer. For users to drag & drop the file, we need to assign them to contributor role(which has RW on public security group) and which is causing the file to belong to public security group which can be seen or serached by everyone which we do not want. We would like to create a private group and should be the default group for the users where they can grag the files to. How can we do this without having to give them the contributor role? the one option we tried is, to force the metadata screen which defaults to a private group, but we do not want to popup the metadata screen everytime they upload the content, but would like to create the defaults for that private group like creating a default profile.
Please throw in your suggestions and appreciate any help in this regard.
    Thanks.

How can we do this without having to give them the contributor role?Do you mean a contributor role, or a role called 'Contributor' (which can contribute to Public security group)?
The former is not possible - a user that can check in a new item must have a contributor role. Note, that there can be many contributor roles - you can have a PrivateSGContributor role which has RW permissions to your "private group" and your users might be assigned this role (that's the latter option).
This is a security requirement, so forcing the metadata screen will not resolve it (there will be NO security group available - if it opens at all - and users won't be able to check in the content anyway).
In fact, if they are used to drag&drop, I'd rather assign the default security group at the folder level.

  • Desktop Integration Suite

    Hi,
I have installed desktop integration suite.I can access through the window explorer and lotus notes. But I am not getting the Oracle UCM menu in Microsoft Word.

Did you choose the office applications during the installation?
What version of Office are you using? The Oracle UCM ribbon is only available in Office 2007 or later. For previous versions the only integration happens when you save the content and either choose to save locally or in UCM.

  • Desktop Integration Suite cliente Drag&Drop required Fields ?

I’m working with the Desktop Integration Suite version 10gR3 and the Oracle content server 10.350, but I have not been able to show the window with required fields “Metadata”, when the user drop a new file in folder of the windows explore. Which configuration have to be checked to solve this issue ?
    Tanks for your support !

    Hi ,
On UCM server install the latest Folders_g component from patchset : 13502938
After that while creating the folder there will be the option "Enable Metadata Prompt"
Check that option and save .
After that from DIS client drag-drop a content to UCM folder (which has the above configuration set) , and then the checkin prompt will show up .
    Hope this helps .
    Thanks

  • Desktop Integration Suite 11g: cannot connect using webdav

    Hi,
I installed UCM 11g on my Windows 7 laptop, server is up and running and I can log on and post content through the web interface.
I successfully installed Desktop Integration Suite, but when I try to make a connection in Windows Explorer to my UCM server, I get the following error:

Anyone have an idea why I can't connect ?

Sounds like the service isn't running. Can you verify that the Folders_g component is enabled on the Admin ---> config for <instance> page? Can you browse to a Contribution Folder through the web interface of Content Server? Sorry if they've changed any of the Folders terms in 11g, I'm using 10g.

  • Desktop Integration Suite 10gR3 cannot integrate with Windows Explorer

    Hello,
I installed Desktop Integration suite and can successfully check in emails through Microsoft Outlook and I can also check in files through MS Office applications.
However, I cannot drap and drop files into the Contribution Folders in Windows XP. I get this error = An error occurred while attempting to create the content item "test.txt"
I've already followed the advice given in this thread... http://kr.forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=681737
    Any suggestions??
    Thanks, Mitch

I enabled automatic content ID and restarted the server.
I can check in files through the console without providing a content ID.
Why would it still say Content item '(null)'?

Hello, I have installed DIS 11.1.1.3.0 on my Windows 7 (64bits) and I've the same problems with windows explorer integration. There is no way to make it work. • Desktop Integration Suite, Lotus Notes and Linux

    Hello
Can anybody answer my small question? Is there any possibility to use Lotus Notes client on Linux machines with UCM/ECM. Destkop Integration Suite components and client works with windows without any problems, but I can't find any information about Linux integration.
    Thanks in advance

Desktop Integration Suite is a Windows-only client module. The client cannot be installed on a Linux desktop. From Windows, it should be able to connect and function with a UCM server installed on any supported OS including Linux.

  • Desktop Integration Suite Feature

    Hi All,
We have user requirement where in when user drags and drops a file in UCM using DIS from Windows explorer, metadata screen and the file that is dragged in should open side by side so that user can look in the file and input the metadata fields. We can make metdata prompts but file does not open(i think file is not in UCM yet). Is there any setting in UCM or DIS where file opens along with metadata when user drags the file?.
Any help in this regard is appreciated.
    Thanks.

There are two ways that you can try:
    1) Try ODDC. It seems exactly what you need considering the Xerox example you mentioned. You will need to write a mapping of ODDC vs UCM metadata.
In ODDC, you can scan or import files from a location, to create a batch. Users then click on the batch - to see ODDC metadata & the batch pages side-by-side.
User fills in metadata and then submits the batch [*INDEXING*]. The batch then gets checked into UCM, based on defaults/metadata mapping set in ODDC.
You can further write a custom UCM checkin filter to take control of metadata/security that gets applied on the checked in file.
    2) Use DIS latest build. in Content Info page, provide a link to view the web-viewable file in the Preview Pane itself.
Users can then right-click and use the new "Update Metadata" feature. (However it has a bug that it updates the Release Date!!!)
I recommend first way. And indeed, the Kofax is market leader in this category but over-kill for sporadic usage.
With ODDC, you can also write integration very easily using .VBS scripts that can be hooked at various events inside ODDC. We wrote one that uses IdcClientUX.ocx to talk to UCM, while document is being INDEXED
Our users are loving it, to say the least. It's fast and easy to deploy for new users/workstations as it web-based.

  • Customising Desktop Integration Suite

    Hi All ,
Is there any way where in we can change the way in which the DIS checks in the Email attachments ??
To be more specific - can we have an option where in a user can select multiple attachments and check it in single shot ,but separate content ID's are created for each content checked in?
Can any one provide pointers on achieving this..
    TIA

    William Phelps wrote:
Attachments can be separated from the email if the checkin occurs within Outlook. Under the Oracle UCM option in Outlook, under "Email Attachment Settings", select "separate attachments".
Dragging and dropping a .msg file into the WEI interface will not separate the attachments.

    Thanks William,
But I am looking for something where in I have an Email with 4 attachments and I want to check in only 2 attachments ,So I want to display an interface where in a user has a check box against each document and he is able to select 2 documents and check it in content server without providing meta data information twice i.e same mete data info should be used for each document .
or when the user right clicks on the email attachment he sees and option to check in the document in content server .

  • UCM-Desktop Integration Suite-

In one of my usecase i need to customize check-in button present in oracle-UCM addin of MS Office. How to do this ? Any information regarding overriding the button functionality and api details?

If we can override using validateCheckinData function then can you please specify the library and class details.OK. It looks you need a crash course on filters.
validateCheckinData is a Java filter event. When you define your custom component you may define which class is executed when the event occurs. This one, in particular, is triggered "during a check-in or update to validate the metadata fields." I didn't know if the field data in Excel has something to do with item's metadata, but this is quite a safe place to add your functionality whatever it does.
As for class, it will be your own, implementing an interface intradoc.shared.FilterImplementor In a nutshell, you will need to implement a method called doFilter.
As for library (to compile your class), there is a idcserver.jar library, which you may (and should) take from your installation.
In this thread Re: Java Component using validateStandard and SystemDatabase fails to incr cntr you will find where exactly it the jar located.
If you drop me an email I can send you a component with an implemented filter. There are also few samples available at http://bexhuff.com/2011/03/howto-component-samples-for-oracle-ucm-11g
I have one more question concerning your use case. You write that
those edited field data should be stored in database during the time of check-in back to UCMHow is it related to the content item? Is the "database" the one used by UCM?
If the values in the database are item's metadata (and they are not those mandatory ones that must be provided during checkin like security group), you could also use Content Categorizer, which may pull metadata for an item out of the item's content. Of course, you can do the same with the filter (and have probably more powerful tool), but if this is your scenario, you could go without customizations.

  • Desktop Integration Suite - Email check in Customization

    Hi All,
I am using DIS(11g) for checking in attachments and email body using Outlook.
If an email has attachments ,and the attachments and the email body are checked in the content server separately,The email body after the check in has the content server links to the attachments present in the email.
Is there a way where in we can prevent those links from appearing in the email body or hiding those links somehow?
Any pointers to the documentation for customization is highly appreciated.
    TIA.

There isn't a "special" template that gets loaded for DIS. It's the same checkin page you get when using the web UI.
DIS simply calls the page with additional condition flags to add/remove features, such as the branding scheme. (Actually the branding gets removed, and you are receiving what is considered to be the "core content" version of the page.)
When you load the checkin page form DIS, simply right-click on the page, and view the location property for the checkin form. You'll see a couple of extra query string parameters (coreContentOnly=1&ClientControlled=DocMan,DesktopIntegrationSuite - among others) that the system uses to drive the display. Poke around the system, and you may be able to get a feel of what you need to do to make the changes you want.
