Desktop no longer sees wireless networks

My wireless was working fine last night. This morning it was connected to wireless networks but it was on a "limited connection" basis. I restarted my computer and now there are no networks displayed when I try and connect to wiress.
I can connect to the wireless with my laptop and iphones but for some reason I can't get anything going on my HP Desktop.
Here is my desktop information:
»HP Pavilion p6730f Desktop PC
Serial Number:   {Private Information Removed}
Product Number:   BV533AAR
Any solutions?

Hi silverhp44. What is the model number of your computer? What version of Windows is installed?

  • Windows XP laptop sees wireless network but won't connect

I set up a wireless network on my airport extreme using my MacBook. The McBook runs great on the wireless network. My old Dell laptop running Windows XP sees the wireless network I created (with full signal strength) but every time I hit "connect" I get the following error message, "Windows is unable to connect to the selected network. The network may no longer be in range. Please refresh the list of available networks, and try to connect again." When I referesh the list, the wireless network is still there, and i still cannot connect, getting the same error message.
    Any suggestions?

Hello apetera. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Per chance are you using WEP for your wireless encryption?
If so, one of the problems with WEP is that the actual standard relies on a 10 character HEX key for 40bit WEP and a 26 character HEX key for 128bit WEP.
In order to make things easier, vendors use certain algorithms to convert simple alphanumeric passwords (or passphrases) into HEX keys, thus enabling the use of simple easy to remember WEP password rather than lengthy HEX keys. The problem is that different vendors use different algorithms to generate the HEX key and therefore a ASCII password on an AEBS will be hashed differently on a non-Apple client and vice versa.

  • MacBook Pro sees wireless networks but cannot join any. Connection timeout error

I have a MacBook Pro here that sees all wireless networks but cannot join any. It gives a connection timeout error with every one.
Internet access via ethernet cable works just fine.

It's not uncommon for you to "see" a great many networks, dozens even, yet you not be able to connect to any of them even if they are "open" (no lock icon). There may be a number of reasons for that, such as they're too weak for a reliable connection, or the router may limit connections to only specified devices.
There is only one way to achieve a reliable network connection, and that's for you to connect to your own wireless router. Even that doesn't work if its signal is too weak or if there are many competing wireless networks in your area.
If it's your own AirPort Base Station you're trying to use but can't, the latter could be the reason. The only way to mitigate the effects of wireless interference is to use 802.11n and 5 GHz whenever practicable. Even today you may only find one or two 5 GHz networks being used in an otherwise "crowded" area.

  • Long range Wireless Network Bridging

    I'm looking for a solution
I need too hooked wirelessly two wireless network together.  One network has the wrt300n router which is sharing internet and have 10 computer wirelessly hooked on it. I need to do a bridge of some sort to another local about 300 to 400 ft away from there. This second network is not setted up yet but will have about 10 other computers wirelessly set. I have read something about eoc-2610 long range  bridge client. But anyone have a suggestion for this setup please?

Well as per my recommendation i would suggest you to buy an ethernet bridge (WET610N) and a Wireless Router, which will be hardwired to the Ethernet Bridge. Once you configure all thes settings on your ethernet bridge, then you need to connect that bridge to an Wireless router and your wireless router will allow all your other computers go online wirelessly.
Once you configure all the settings on your Bridge, then you need to connect your wireless router to the bridge via Ethernet cable (On the Internet Port) . Then Connect your computer to any Ethernet Port on the Router.
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on a computer hard wired to the router...In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1...Leave the Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
Change the LAN Ip of your Router to 192.168.2.1 and click on Save Settings.
The Wireless Settings of your 2nd Router should be different from your 1st Router. So both the network wont get conflict with each other and this will allow all your computers go online wirelessly from 2nd Router.

  • Airport no longer sees any networks

    PowerBook G4
    OS X 10.4.11
This is my music jukebox, and it's been working great until connectivity to wireless networks disappeared.
There are dozens of wireless networks here, yet the "bars" are grayed out, unable to see any networks at all. Other laptops see mine and the others fine.
Is there a way to reinstall just the network software? My installer seems to want to reinstall 10.4 completely at which time I'd have to upgrade to 10.4.11 again, etc. Used to be that one could repair/install selected components.

Well, I took the Airport card out, disconnected the antenna, reattached and reseated the card...still no good.
Then I remembered having an old Lucent WaveLan Silver card. Downloaded the driver from http://www.ioxperts.com/products/80211b_X.html. This worked.
Also, here they suggest you can rip the antenna off a Lucent card and replace the Airport card with it: http://www.schwie.com/brad/?p=15. I think I'll leave it like this until I get a new MacBook and our current MacBook becomes the jukebox server.
Thanks for all your help! This process at least got it running again. I appreciate it.

  • RG No Longer "Sees" Second Network

I have been a Uverse customer since 2012. I have a Pace 3801HGV RG. At the time my service was installed, I had just bought a Linksys EA2700 router. The AT&T installer set up the Linksys router in an upstairs bedroom to serve as a second wireless network. It has worked fine for the past 3 years until a couple of weeks ago. Now none of my wireless devices can find the Linksys. When I log in to the RG, it shows the Linksys as an Active Ethernet connection. I've reset both devices numerous times, but don't know what else to try. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The Linksys is on an Ethernet cable correct?Unplu cable from device and plug a laptop or similar internet device in, can you connect to the internet? If yes no issues with cable or port on the 3801 RG, if no try changing to different port on RG, if good then bad port... If not good most likely your Ethernet cable. If internet device works but Linksys does not, then you need to replace the Linksys, three years for a wireless circuit before failure is not that uncommon.

  • C7280 Printer no longer sees my network

I was printing just fine from my C7280 printer this morning - but as of this afternoon the printer no longer see's my router.  When I go to Network and do the Wireless Setup Wizard it will see routers in neighboring apartments, and even my iPhone, but doesn't see my main router that it's always been connected to.  I've rebooted the printer, re-started the router, upgraded the firmware in the router, made sure I was running the latest HP drivers on my laptop, and I even plugged on through USB and the printer worked fine.  I also reset the printer by holding down the #3, then #6, and finally #9 as I started it up.  In every case - the printer still can't see my router.  Any thoughts?
The router is an Airport Extreme running the latest firmware.  All of my other devices still see the router just fine.
Also - I printed a network report from the printer.  It states the Radio On - Passed, Radio Working - Passed, Network Name (SSID) Found - Fail.
    Thanks,
    Don

OK, on the front of the printer, in the Network menu, Restore Network Defaults.  Try again.
If that does not work, make sure that your Airport is:
    1. Broadcasting its SSID.
    2. Set to use WPA encryption.
    3. Have 802.11g mode enabled (along with others is fine).

  • IPod Touch no longer sees home network

My iPod Touch has been successfully connecting to our home network for years and suddenly no longer even sees it. It can see other networks (neighbors, home office, etc.) but not our home network. Our MacBook Pro still connects just fine to the network, retrieves mail, surfs, downloads, etc., suggesting something is amiss with the Touch.
I've upgraded to Lion as of yesterday, and upgraded to iOS 4.2.1 for the Touch. I was hopping THAT would solve the problem, but nothing. Still no success connecting with the Touch and the MacBook Pro still connects perfectly.
Oh, I've also RESET the iPod Touch Network settings.
Any suggestions for other things to try? Again, NO changes have been made to network hardware, only to software. What do I need to tinker with or adjust on the Touch?

luvlabs elsewhere has answered this same problem with an amazingly simple fix: reboot Time Capsule. That is, unplug it, wait about 15 seconds and plug it back in. It will take 30 seconds or so to get up to speed, discoverable, etc., but then my iPod Touch had NO trouble connecting. I had to type in my password for use of the network, but now it's back to its normal operation. Thank  you luvlabs! [I love labs, too, BTW! Big shout out to Grimmy!]

  • Do Apple desktops have built in wireless networking?

  • Ialertu.... no longer sees wireless

Dont know if anyone uses this little program on their MBP... its kind of a fun free security program... however... after much testing and isolation of the issue... I have realized that this program causes issues with my wireless....
    http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/21282/ialertu
Its very strange and even though I can still see my network under the scanned wi fi area... if I open airport utility...it doesn't see the network at all
As soon as I quit ialertu.... everything goes back to normal... Very weird... I'm going to uninstall and re-install and see if it makes a difference. I know its basically free software so you can't expect alot but I found this to be a very strange side effect of running the program and wondered if anyone else had seen it.

I'd consider contacting the publisher as well just to see if they have any ideas.

  • IPod Touch No Longer Sees Home Network - Has Been Fine For The Past Year!

Tried to connect my ipod to the internet this morning and it connected fine, then the signal dropped out and back in again.
It did the hokey cokey for a while before dissconnecting all together, now it wont even see the SSID of my network.
Ive tried reseting the network settings, reseting the ipod, inputting the nework info manualy and deleting recently downloaded apps.
I went through all the info on the apple website and followed the instructions etc.
I havnt changed anything on my router or ipod and all my other devices connect fine (2nd ipod touch, laptop etc).
On a couple of occasions it has seen my network and ive managed to connect only for it to dissapear again seconds later!
Reset my router (Netgear DG834g) and disabled the security, it saw the network so I selected it and the 'tick' came up by its name but the iPod wasnt assigned an IP or DNS etc then it said 'cannot connect to network (network name)'.
Now on a couple of occasions the ipod has lost its mac address and had no wi-fi options what so ever!
    Any help would be appreciated.

Exactly the same issue for me, this is a replacement iPod I got 3 days ago due to a battery issue.. it has been working perfectly since I got the replacement iPod touch, but now, it picks up no networks at all even though there are at least 4 nearby which it used to pickup.. If I take my iPod right next to the router I get a single bar signal but get the "could not connect to the internet" error and the network is disconnected. I am taking my iPod to the nearest Apple store tomorrow. It's an iPod touch 1g 8GB by the way..
EDIT: And I have tried it on 3 different networks, at college and at home and doesn't pick up any of them, so I highly doubt it's a router issue..

  • Photosmart B 209 no longer sees WIFI network since I've moved from WEP to WPA

My HP Photosmart was working well until my ISP has asked me to change the name of my WIFI network (now includes underscore symbols) and the protection type has changed from WEP to WPA....Paswword has not changed, it's just the type of protection
Since then, the printer doesn't see anymore the WIFI network. I've printed a Network report and it says I need to check that SSID network & printers are the same....
My old network SSID was : Freebox and it has moved to : FREEBOX_BRUNO_DH.
Where can this be changed on the printer ???
    Thanks for your help

Why is your ISP dictating what your SSID name will be???   This is not right.   You can make the SSID name anything you want, but I would not use what your ISP has said.   It's YOUR network, do what you want.   Make the SSID and password for you.

  • IMac Desktop not seeing HP6500 on wireless network.

    The Background:
I am using OS X Yosemite Operating System (ver. 10.10.1) on an Apple iMac Desktop.  My home wireless network is set up correctly and is functioning fine as my iMac, TV and smartphones all can access my home WI-Fi network just fine.
I went into option 8 on the setup screen on the HP 6500 printer and put in the network name and password and the printer reported back that the connection to the wireless network was successful.
    The problem:
When I go to "Printers and Scanners" from the System Preferences on the iMac and try to add the printer, I select "Add a printer" and no printer is listed.
    How do I:
--Add the printer manually and/or add it via IP address?  How can I find the IP address for the printer when it is connected to my home wireless network?
    Thank you,
    Ron Nolan

    Hello RLN60 ,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having an issue with installing the printer to your Mac.
Seeing that no software driver package is available at this time for the Yosemite operating system, try downloading and installing the HP Printer Drivers v3.0 for OS X.
Let me know how you make out and if you have any other questions, feel free to write me back at any time.

  • Why can't i see wireless network

I just replaced a lost iphone.  This new one only sees wireless network if i am within very close proximity to the source.  Other devices work fine, this one is bunk.  suggestions?

If this only happens with the one network, the problem is problem with the router not the iPhone.
If you have a case on your iPhone, try taking it of and seeing if the problem goes away.
You can also try Resetting Network Settings from Setting > General > Reset. You could restart or restore the iPhone too.
If that doesn't do it, contact Apple.
