"Detect Cuts" not really working

I'm scoring a scene that has very tight and deliberate cuts. To move things along, I brought the video directly in Logic (usually on a seperate PT rig) and I selected the "detect cuts" button in the Video global track, with plans to then play with "beat mapping" to close in on my desired tempo options.
Frankly, it's doing a really crappy job.
It doesn't see a lot of these cuts, and sometimes places markers for cuts that don't exist (in the middle of a shot, etc).
The video in question is in H.264 format, the scene is well lit with plenty of contrast/data.
Any advice on how to get this working properly??

yes, that's what I've been doing, but Logic doesn't notice the cuts at all. I don't have a problem with the area scanned for video (what your talking about with cycle highlighting), I have a problem with logic incorrectly ignoring cuts/edits that DO exist, or creating cuts in the middle of a shot....

  • Network Users with network homes not really working for me

    I have with great pain setup a OS X Lion server on a Mac Mini that was supposed to be my central server to have 4 network users accounts and all the users data is stored on an external disk array with mounted network homes to the 2 iMacs and 2 Macbooks I have in my home.
    I have gotten it all working and all my Macs are joined to the Open Directory and each User can login as a network users on any of the Macs and get their files via mounted home directory from the server. The home directories on the server are backed up with Time Machine.
    I have found the following items that do not work proberly:
    1) Desktop backgrounds settings are just lost sometimes for whatever reason. Desktop background goes to default and you need to manually set back to the one you have selected. This happen mostly if users have their own desktop pictures.
    2) Keychain get's screwed up. The user often get the "Keychain doesn't exist to store ..." message and need to select to reset the keychain. Anything I have tried from "Keychain First Aid" to removing and have a new one created doesn't fix the problem. It keeps on coming back.
    3) iTunes Storage and AppStore are getting confused about authorized computers. This is because a user logs in from another computer and then iTunes store would tell the user this computer hasn't been authorized to play the purchase music. Same happens with iPhone apps from the AppStore. Apparently those two stores are not setup to hanlde network users proberly.
    4) Permission issues happen sometimes in Application like iPhoto where it would complain not being able to see photos or cannot add new photos to the library. Need to run a permission repair on the Iphoto Library to fix this.
    5) One critical one is that it's not really possible to restore files from Time Machine. The Time Machine backup is done on the server by an administrator account directly backing up the user directories. When you go into Time Machine on the server even the admin can drill down into the user directories so no restore possible. The individual users have no idea that there was ever a Time Machine backup done as Time Machine is not setup in their accounts on the individual Macs. This prevents any possible restore.
    I reckon that many of the problems are related to having only one location for ~/Library as the individual Macs are writing their user related settings into this directory in a central location. So what happens is when something on iMac 1 and then I log in on iMac 2 that might not exactly match this Macs config and it get's confused throwing one of the above erors.
    Trouble is witth central network home directory the way they mounted i can't exclude the ~/Library folder. The only option I can see is mobile account because I have seen in the preferences that when they sync the handle Library items differently.
    Does anybody have any experience out there with this sort of thing and can advise what's the best way forward?
    If i can't resolve this I'll go back to have network users with local home directories on each Mac and just setup for each user a network share to which they copy files if they want them available on other Macs. Not as nice but at least it works!
    As a said note I did this to make things easier but it has up to now cost me trouble then i had before!

    First it took  me ages to get this right as the way the home directores are mounted on the clients from the server it's just weired which has to do with how AFP mounts are implemented. Since one AFP mount can't be mounted by several users on the same system they use a workaround of mounting it to a temp directory and then linking it back to where it should be. Of course this causes major problems.
    Okay it kind of worked so let's move on to syncing PHD. First of all on initial creation it only sync a small portion of the directory that should be okay but on some of my accounts it never went passed this stage. It said it's all synced but it only had synced the first 10% or so of the data. I wasn't able to make it sync anymore.
    On other accounts it correctly synced all the data down, or so I thought. Apparently a few sync session back and forth and 50-60% of the data was gone. On further investigation it turned out to be iTunes and iPhoto libraries. Turns out does don't sync probably via Home Sync!!!
    Apple product is not able to probably syncing Apple specific library files!!!!
    So here my warning to everybody: DO NOT USE PHD and HOME SYNC to sync your data as you will lose stuff if you have iTunes and/or iPhoto libraries with Lion OS X Server!!!
    The whole Lion Server experience has been a disaster for me. Now I have a server that does file sharing and time machine backup sharing. I can do the same thing with a standard Mac using those services. What's the point of Lion Sever for Home if nothing works proberly?

  • JTextPane/JEditPane  ‘opaque=true’ is NOT really works.

    Hi everyone!
    I’ve created a JTextPane editable area. Unfortunately, some border appears from top to bottom of the editable area which moves from the left to right when I enter some text. What is it?
    This border appears as separator between two colors: white (which is background color of my JTextPane) and some kind of very light yellow (which is background color of JPanel –container for JTextPane). Object hierarchy for my application is the following: JFrame -> JPanel ->JTextPane.
    I’ve tried to set JTextPane opaque to “false” so this border is disappeared, since JTextPane get JPanel color. But is not really what I need. It seems that I need to set color of the container(JPanel) to change background color of the child(JTextPane) – this is a bad practice.
    Is it possible to set opaque for JTextPane/JEditPane to really TRUE, when the whole editable area has the same color that is different from parent container?

    You've misinterpeted what the opaque property is suppose to do. Asside from that can you take a picture? I'm having a hard time visualizing what you are explaining. My best guest would be to just simply call
    myJTextPane.setBorder(null);Although I don't think a text pane usually has a border in the first place. Here a simple recreation of the scenario you explained (JFrame --> Yellow JPanel --> Editable JTextPane). I don't see any sort of border.

  • Intel 4500MHD painfully slow/not really working...

    I have an Intel 4500MHD card in my laptop and it's just painfully slow, my previous laptop had an X3100 that worked great and i thought this would be an upgrade, how very wrong of me to believe that. Glxgears shows some 100 FPS and glxinfo says i have direct rendering support. I'm using core, community and extra repositories with an xorg.conf generated by X -configure without any additional options to the device section besides the default ones.
    Yesterday i tried to run open arena and the game just exits when i try to initiate a game from the main menu.
    Anyone had luck in getting this card to work a little more efficiently while not recompiling half of their system?

    Unfortunately no.
    Put simply, there are a few major intel-related changes going on right now, and the short story is that the intel drivers are using newer tech than Mesa and such are. However, the required packages haven't been brought up to date yet (I think they haven't been marked stable upstream and such).
    The first step however is kernel 2.6.28, which includes half of the "fix", to simplify. Now, this won't make your FPS go straight back up - you'll need to wait for newer versions of Mesa and such to be rolled out - but it's a start, especially if you don't already have 2.6.28.
    From there, I'm sure you've seen this thread which outlines what to recompile. I'll probably wait though, since 100FPS is quite an upgrade for me - I didn't have hardware rendering until a month or so ago (I think) - and my system is slow enough as it is (it can't use DDR2 RAM) for me to really bother with fast graphics anyway.

  • Micro suddenly not really working

    After more of 12 years using linux, I am still wondering why the sound architecture in linux so unreliably works.
    Since yesterday I am having problems with the micro, which there were not there previosly. The micro of my laptop does not grab any sound... and when it does, then it is really crackly. I don't see any upgrades in the last days which could have been the cause...

    I can't figure out what they are doing differently.  Maybe the support is in their kernel.  But anyhow, you'll probably find that the problem is not specific to ArchLinux.

    I have updated my phone with new OS update leak -- 6.0.0-PL6.6.0.195-A6.0.0.526
    after updated I'm unable to scan any barcode.. from the website of blackberry for downloading any application.. neither I'm able to scan using QR scanning application..
    Can any one here facing the same problem so please tell me any solutions for this... or fix this bug...

  • Loading a dynamic generated profile... not really working

    Hey all - ok simple question sort of.
    I am generating a dynamic profile for the encoder.  It's to save to c:\videos on output with each user's unique id in the file name.  The user goes to a secure login, clicks the download profile link - and bam I have the XML file set to auto-open in Flash Media Encoder.  Problem is - it is not using my dynamically generated filename.  If I go to flash media encoder and OPEN Profile - and open the profile that was downloaded - all is well and the filename in the save to file is correct.  If you try to click on the profile file (xml file) or have firefox auto-open xml file into flash media encoder - it opens up the encoder but does not adjust any settings including the save to file location.
    So my question is - is it possible to start a custom profile by simply clicking on the profile xml file (default app for it is the encoder)??  I have read up on the cmd line - option but that won't be an option in this case as we just want users to download / start a recording session.

  • LMS 4.2.2. Standard vs Custom Discovery - Custom not really working ...

    Hello Forum,
    I did a new install on VM-ware, via LMS4.2.0 OVA file, updated to 4.2.2 and applied latest deviceupdates etc, like MDF and all.
    In general it runs good, but, I have a huge problem with CSDiscovery.
    My discovery only works in when I choose standard discovery.
    Allthough it takes AGES, due to 1000's of Lightwieght AP's hence I need to filter them out.
    Only problem with standard discovery is that I cannot get the routers to be managed via Loopback interface, as this option is only configureable in Custom Discovery, also the CDPID Filters for the AP ONLY applies in Custom Discovery, to make Discover faster.
    So I need Custom Discovery badly ...
    BUT when I run Custom Discovery, with the exact same setting, as in Std Discovery, the discovery skids over seed devices and marks then unreachable !
    It like runs way to fast all over the devices !
    I then enabled debugging on and looked into ngdiscovery.log in /var/adm/CSCOpx/log
    Here I see entries like SNMP timeout on device etc, but this is simply not true, as I can run the same setting when doing std discovery !
    I am deeply puzzled - So I copied the backed up system-config.xml file hence restoring the default settings, and restarted LMS.
    same problem ... std dis work, cust discovery skids over the seed-devices - ie never gets around to discover anything...
    I am so fortunate to have access to a LMS 4.2.1 installation, on OVA too, and I edited the system-config.xml there and added CDPID filtrers for LAP's and ran Cust dis WITH NO PROBLEMS and super fast !
    So I know the settings are right in the xml file ...
    I can reproduce this in my installation - Std works - Cust runs haywire !
    everytime ...
    I am actuall surprised that the CDPID filters are NOT aplied to std dis, via the XML file !
    Only reads XLM file  when doing Cust dis.
    This i can also verify in the Job-specific files in /opt/CSCOpx/objects/csdiscovery/JOBID
    Are there any bugs related to Custom Discovery vs Std in 4.2.2 ??
    I am on the leap to start all over and NOT go to patch 2, staying on 4.2.1 ...
    But my time is running and I am on the clock here ...
    Please advice, aswell as give you feedback on your experience with cust disc in 4.2.2 on OVA (SoftAppliance)

    LMS 4.2 supports the following Windows systems:

    Note Only 64-bit Operating Systems is supported on the above versions.
    •Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard Edition with SP1

    If above is correct then share the Installation.log , it will be under c:/  drive

  • IPhone 5 lock button not really working on right side

    The sleep/wake button on my iphone 5 works normally when pressed on the left side of the button but most of the time when you press it in certain ways on the right side of the button it doesn't seem to work. The left side of the button also sinks into the device more than the right. It has been getting progressively worse over the past few weeks. Would apple replace this? It is still covered by its one year warranty.

    Every warranty claim is on a case by case basis.
    If not determined to be caused by accidental damage or abuse, the iPhone should be exchanged under warranty but no one here can say for certain or answer for Apple in this regard.

  • New Mac Pro not really working

    I just got my new Mac Pro in and I'm having some problems. I've had to do a hard reboot 3 times over the last 4 days, I get the SBBOD very frequently, and Spotlight doesn't seem to be working.
    My biggest issue with spotlight now is I can't get one of my internal drives to index. It's a 500 gb seagate drive that I took out of a G5 and put right into my MP. Is that a problem? I know I can't take a startup disk from a PPC machine to an Intel machine but this is just for storage. I've downloaded Spotless and deleted all my spotlight folders and started from scratch. I indexed one drive at a time and found this one drive always hangs. I've let it run overnight now twice and it never finishes. I came in this morning and it still says indexing (won't allow me to search) and it says it has -2147483648 hours remaining and the status bar is actually showing less progress then when I left it last night, which sounds weird but I'm sure of it. Any ideas?

    Have you booted from a good backup system you can use for emergencies and tried repairing your drive? If you don't have Disk Warrior (or something more than just Apple First Aid) I would.
    In trying to salvage files I usually try to trash the most recent stuff added that are just temp or not needed, and delete what I have safely copied over.
    Think of peeling an onion. Undo each layer. Repair the directory.
    Disk Warrior has Rebuild directory, and if you hold down OPTION when you click on rebuild, it offers you choice to scavenge a drive that is more severely corrupt.
    When it freezes, be sure to do a Safe Boot and insure you aren't creating new directory problems on your alternate drive. And don't boot or use your problem drive. Which is why you always want to have a FW or alternate boot drive. And if you don't, then install just OS X plus updates on it first so you do.

  • Bluetooth not really working

    I've got a 1.67 15" PB (not the higer res screen one). I've never really had anything to use the Bluetooth with until today when I was able to upgrade to a phone with Bluetooth in it. I've turned on the phone and the Bluetooth and had them search for eachother but they cannot see eachother at all.
    I tried my sister's phone and my mom's phone (each different models) which also have bluetooth and the phones kinda saw the computer, but my laptop did not see the phones at all. Any suggestions as to what I should do?
    Unfortunately, it is no longer under warranty (I got the computer a little over a year ago).

  • 4G not really working it seems

    In the last 48 hours my 4G connectivity is horrible. It says I have 4G in this area (and it's not a new area by any means... same place every day - never any problems) yet my apps wont refresh and when I try to do it manually they end up not responding. When I use WiFi I have no problems at all. I really don't want to reset my phone. HELP!

    When removing/reinserting the SIM card, be careful not to touch the gold contacts.
    Your issue is probably related to turning off background data; that will keep apps from refreshing (automatically and manually).  You may want to turn off background data app by app rather than system-wide in the data usage section of your phone (scroll down to the app section, click app to see more info., then check Restrict Background Data).

  • Mail from our domain not really working right.

    Hello-I am the administrator of a couple mail servers that I would like to get working properly with Nokia Messaging, but I can't for the life of me figure out why certain things are not working.
    Unless needed, i will use the dummy.com domain for the sake of this example.
    Problem 1: I cannot set up an address as [email protected]  The web interface fails every time.  On the server log, I see that the Nokia server is connecting and trying to log in with the username "[email protected]", NOT "user" as it should.
    I got around this by setting up the address [email protected], which for some reason worked, but is not the correct email address, and as I cannot change the email address in the settings for some reason, I can get mail when I set it up this way but not send.
    Problem 2: I cannot change the settings.  Sure, I can try, but every time I enter the correct servers, SSL settings, and ports, EVEN THE ONES THAT ALREADY WORK, I get the message "Unable to connect with the settings provided. Please try again.".  According to the server logs, the Nokia server never even tries to connect.
    Can anyone at Nokia please tell me how I'm supposed to set up my mail server to make it work with Nokia Messaging?  I'm frustrated at this point after monitoring the network and the servers for a while.

    As on experimenting with another distro it works fine with konqueror 3.5.7, I'm not even sure where I'd find kde 3.5.7 for arch to confirm or deny.
    But if I try using 3.5.8 I only get the banner and the side panel.
    I know its not the filters as it works fine with FF.
    Any ideas or suggestions in help narrowing this down will be gratefully received as at the mo I'm not even sure if its a bug and if it is, who's bug it is?

  • My laptop pc not really work since I bought it from last Thanksgivi​ng

    It was work when first use, then there problem coming, start up very slow, long time to response or forever loading from one page to other page. It could TAKE 5 OR 10 MINUTES for IE TO RESPONSE OR STALL JUST THERE. few days ago, it took me two hours to get the notebook response to IE to the Explorer page, then I click on the update  for microsoft or HP, it took me the whole night, 5-6 hours and turned out update incomplete and say need change, which I clicked, but  after about two hours, it still loading, I only keep the pc on and went to sleep, the next morning, it still loading, I have no choice but turn off the PC and went to work. BTW, the wireless is not working when I try to load  it on wifi when first in use, the internet provider did help but no use at all but my son's ipad do work here.
    I am going to out town and need the laptop work before can go. This laptop almost not working to me, any help ?

    Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue about your HP 15-r030nr  Notebook and issues running updates to your Notebook. Here is a Microsoft Support link for just this issue.
    You might have to turn off you virus protection till the update is complete. Here is a link to the HP Support Assistant if you need it. Just download and run the application and it will help with the software and drivers on your system that might need updating.
