  • Welcome to the Self Service Session

As Verizon continues to transform its products and services, we recognize the need to transform our customer support capabilities.
The explosive growth of broadband and mobile services enables the introduction of new customer support channels that provide customers with more control and flexibility over their Verizon services anytime, anywhere and anyway customers prefer.
Verizon has responded to customer requests for greater control and flexibility with the introduction, expansion and improvement of the following customer preferred self service tools:
    • Verizon .Com and My Verizon web portal - www.myverizon.com
    • In Home Agent – www.verizon.com/inhomeagent
    • Interactive Media Guide
    • Interactive Voice Response Unit – 1-800-Verizon
    • Mobile Phone Applications
Nearly 1/3 of our customer transactions are now completed using one of the self service tools mentioned above.
You can learn more about these tools through an online brochure at www.verizon.com/service that summarizes the various self service options available on the Computer, TV, Mobile Devices, Phone and in our Stores. We encourage you to bookmark this page as a future reference for the service options offered by Verizon.

    Hi,
I have a doubt. Whats special in the Field Service comparing to teleservice?
    1. Advanced schedulers is also optional.
    2. I dont see much except the spares management.
But Let us assume that the Field Engineer is not going to order via oracle spares management. Just he uses a phone for material ( and internal order) and he just finally enters the debrief.
In this case, can we just do the field service activities just with teleservice implementation?
    Thanks

  • Queries regarding creating Web Services in Oracle EBS 11i[Workaround found]

    Hi,
We have an E-Business Suite 11i installation(11.5.10.2). In our implementation we are using some of the public APIs to insert & update data in EBS tables. Earlier this was done by calling the required PL/SQL procedures through dblinks.
Now, we need to do the same by using Web Services. That is we need a Web Service which can be invoked from a different application(SAP) and the Web Service in turn will call the APIs.
I am new to Web Services/SOA and as far as I could understand from reading the documentation, we need the following:
    1. Install Oracle 10g Application Server with BPEL Process Manager ONLY(Oracle AS Adapter will be installed as part of BPEL PM. The Oracle AS Adapter will connect 10gAS to EBS)
    2. JDeveloper to create and deploy the BPEL process.
I have a few questions here:
    1. Are the above two points the only prerequisites for what I want to achieve? Do I need to install anything else?
    2. How do I expose the created Web Service? I mean how will the 3rd party application invoke this Web Service?
Answers and/or links to helpful documents awaited.
    Regards,
    -Sujoy
Found an alternate and more cost-effective solution. Turns out that the SAP PI/XI engine can use JDBC to connect to the Oracle DB. SAP PI/XI will host the Web Service and will internally access the API through a JDBC connection.

    Hi Helios,
I had checked the note that you are referring to before posting here. It did provide me with a start but otherwise it wasn't a great help (also some of the links are broken) . Since I am quite new to this...I am not sure whether I am proceeding in the right direction. An example/tutorial is what would be pretty useful.
    Thanks anyway!

  • [Forum FAQ] Restrict number of Active Sessions in RDS 2012 and 2012 R2

    As everyone knows with the introduction of Windows Server 2012 & 2012 R2, there are various changes and no more availability for RDSH configurations or Remote Desktop Service Manager;
now we can manage all the settings under Server Manager and group policy.
Configuration 1: Remote Desktop Timeout settings:
Here, we will see the Remote Desktop timeout settings. You can maintain the settings under below mention path (Figure 1 and Figure 2).
    Open the
Server Manager, select Remote Desktop Services.
In Remote desktop Services, in right side you can drop down to
    collections.
    Select the
collection which you want to edit the settings.
    Under
collections Properties, select Task and then Edit Properties.
    In Properties dialog box, select
    Session.
    You can find all the
timeout settings under session collection properties; edit according to your requirements and then
    OK.
    Figure 1: Selecting Collection Properties
Figure 2: Configuring screen for Timeout and reconnection Settings
    Group policy setting:
The same settings can also be applied by Group Policy.
You can also configure timeout and reconnection settings by applying the following Group Policy settings, you can check the figure 3 for graphical view.
Set time limit for disconnected sessions
Set time limit for active but idle Remote Desktop Services sessions
Set time limit for active Remote Desktop Services sessions
End session when time limits are reached
In addition to this another group policy available with the help of which you can bale to set time limit for logging off the RemoteApp according to our desired time. This setting
can be applied with addition to above mentioned policy.
Set time limit for logoff of RemoteApp Sessions
These Group Policy settings are located in the following locations:
    Computer Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Remote Desktop Services\Remote Desktop Session Host\Session Time Limits
    User Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Remote Desktop Services\Remote Desktop Session Host\Session Time Limits
These Group Policy settings can be configured by using either the Local Group Policy Editor or the Group Policy Management Console (GPMC).
    Note:
These Group Policy settings will take precedence over the settings configured in Remote Desktop Session Host Configuration. If both the Computer Configuration and the User Configuration policy
settings are configured, the Computer Configuration policy settings take precedence.
Figure 3: Group Policy for setting Timeout and reconnection setting
    Configuration 2:
Restrict & Enable user to a single & multiple session
Under Windows Server 2012 & 2012 R2, there is no specific setting under RDP-TCP as it is not available.
    Restrict User to Single session:
To restrict the user to single session (Disable Multiple RDP Session) you can configure the setting under group policy (Figure 4).
Computer Configuration\ Administrative Templates\ Windows Components\ Remote Desktop Services\ Remote Desktop Session Host\ Connections
Restrict Remote Desktop Services users to a single Remote Desktop Services session     Enabled
Figure 4: Group policy for Restrict user to Single session
    Enable user to multiple session:
To enable the user to multiple session you can configure the setting under below (Figure 5).
Computer Configuration\ Administrative Templates\ Windows Components\ Remote Desktop Services\ Remote Desktop Session Host\ Connections
Restrict Remote Desktop Services users to a single Remote Desktop Services session     Disabled
Figure 5: Group Policy for Enable user to Multiple Session
In addition you can also edit the registry setting for allowing multiple RDP session as per below (Figure 6).
    HKEY_Local_Machine\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server
    fSingleSessionPerUser     REG_DWORD     0x00000000
Note: By default the registry value is set to 1, but you need to change to 0.
Figure 6: Display the registry settings
Also you can edit the policy “Limit number of connections” and set RD Maximum collection as per your company
requirements (Maximum limit: 999999) for above mention group policy path (Figure 7).
Figure 7: Group Policy for Limit number of Connections
Apart from this, if you have not specified any policy or registry setting and still you want to restrict the new session, then in Windows Server 2012 & 2012 R2 there is option where you
need to follow below steps (Figure 8 and Figure 9).
Right click a Remote Desktop Session Host in specified location of Host Server and select “Do not allow new connections”.
After clicking that it will ask you for your confirmation, click yes and no new connection will be allowed.
Figure 8: Setting displaying “Do not allow new connections”
    Figure 9: Confirmation popup
    RD Gateway Connection Properties:
If you have deployed RD Gateway under your environment you can also limit the number of simultaneous connections through RD Gateway by configuring
policy under RD Gateway Manager. For this you need to follow below mention path.
Open RD Gateway Manager, select the server which you want to modify.
    Right click Properties.
    Under General Tab
    -Limit maximum allowed simultaneous
connections to:Specify the number of connection you want to able to provide connection.
    -Allow the maximum
    supported simultaneous connections:This
setting will allow maximum supported connections at a time.
    -Disable new connections:This
setting will not allow new connections through RD Gateway but Active connection will not be automatically disconnected.
Select the option as per requirement which able to allow the connection
Figure 10: Connections setting under RD Gateway Manager
Configuration 3: Configure keep-alive connection interval
As per above mention in initial post you can able to change the setting for Keep alive connection interval. In addition to this also verify the
registry setting must be set as per following (Figure 11 and Figure 12).
    HKEY_Local_Machine \ SOFTWARE \ Policies \ Microsoft \ Windows NT \ Terminal Services
    KeepAliveEnable       REG_DWORD           0x00000001 (1)
    KeepAliveInterval
    REG_DWORD           0x00000001 (1)
Figure 11: Group Policy setting for Keep alive
Figure 12: Registry setting for keep alive
If you need further assistance, welcome to post your questions in our
Remote Desktop Services (Terminal Services) forum.
If you would like to achieve this in Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2008 R2, please move on to the next post.

Applies to Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2
Configuration 1: Remote Desktop Timeout settings:
    1. Open the property dialog for RDP-Tcp connection in Remote Desktop Services Manager.
    2. In the Sessions tab, you can configure the following settings:
    Active Session Limit
    Idle session limit
Action when session limit is reached or connection is broken
    End a disconnected session
Additionally, you can configure the settings with the help of Group Policy also by below mention path.
    Computer Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Remote Desktop Services\Remote Desktop Session Host\Session Time Limits
    User Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Remote Desktop Services\Remote Desktop Session Host\Session Time Limits
Configuration 2: Restrict each user to a single session
By using this configuration or policy setting, each user can only maintain one session to the certain terminal server; when another session is started by the same user, the original one will
lose the connection. In that way, the total number of possible active sessions won’t exceed the total remote users. You can implement this as below mention steps.
    Remote Desktop Host (RDP-Tcp) configuration:
Edit Settings – Restrict each user to a single session: Yes
    Group Policy: Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Remote Desktop
Services (Terminal Services)\Remote Desktop Services Session Host (Terminal Server)\Connections\
Restrict Remote Desktop Services (Terminal Services) users to a single remote session:    Enabled
Configuration 3: Configure keep-alive connection interval
By specifying the minutes that the TS holds a remote session actually disconnected, the server will detect the session status after each period. The session that are actually offline will
    be changed to disconnected status:
    Group Policy:
Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Remote Desktop Services (Terminal Services)\Remote Desktop Services Session Host (Terminal Server)\Connections\
Configure keep-alive connection interval:         Enabled and Specify the Value

  • Date Formats in Oracle Applications Forms and Oracle Self Service

Can someone tell me what determines the Date format that appears on Oracle Applications Forms and Oracle Self Service ?
*1.* In Oracle HRMS,all dates i see on the Forms are of the Format "MM/DD/YYYY" but my NLS Parameters are not in this format .I'm giving the results for the NLS parameters below.I thought the date formats are determined by the NLS format. Is there something else that determines the date format appearing on Oracle Applications Forms ?
    NLS_DATABASE_PARAMETERS
    NLS_DATE_FORMAT     :DD-MON-RR
    NLS_DATE_LANGUAGE     :AMERICAN
    NLS_LANGUAGE     :AMERICAN
    NLS_TERRITORY     :AMERICA
    NLS_INSTANCE_PARAMETERS
    NLS_DATE_FORMAT     :DD-MON-RR
    NLS_DATE_LANGUAGE     :
    NLS_LANGUAGE     :american
    NLS_TERRITORY     :america
    NLS_SESSION_PARAMETERS
    NLS_DATE_FORMAT     :DD-MON-RR
    NLS_DATE_LANGUAGE     :
    NLS_LANGUAGE     :american
    NLS_TERRITORY     :america
*2* What about the profile option : ICX_DATE_FORMAT_MASK ? Does it determine the Date Format for Self Service alone or does it impact the date format appearing on Oracle Applications Forms and the actual database also ?
*3* If I use a to_date function in ,say, a pl/sql function that i code for some custom requirements, what will be the output of the date format ? Does it take the format given in NLS paramaters or is it determined by anything else?
    Thanks in advance...

    Hi,
Thanks for your reply ,but I'm still confused ..
Here are the profile options I'm seeing for one of my instance :
ICX: Date format mask - 12/31/1999
ICX: Date language - American English
    ICX: Language - American English
    ICX: NLS Sort - BINARY
    ICX: Territory - United States
    ICX: Numeric characters - NULL
NLS parameters are given in my original email.
In Self Service applications(OAF) ,the date format is appearing in "mm/dd/yyyy" format but when i login to Forms based applications ,I see the date format as "dd-mon-yyyy".What determines this date format ?
How can i make the date format to always return one format everywhere ,be it Self Service (OAF) or Oracle Forms ?
I'm getting date format related errors for my code because of default date formats changing intermittently when i log into Self Service.I want to know if there is anyway to prevent this from happening?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Deletion service sessions

    Hi,
I am trying to delete a Security Optimization Self Service session in SOLMAN 3.2, but I am getting the following error message:
"SEC_SELF - No. 1500000000021 could not be deleted - because of your status"
Any idea what the problem is?

    Hi Ragu,
Sadly there are no long text message.
When trying to delete the service in RDSMOPREDUCEDATA I get the error "Session must not be changed". I have been looking at note 949749, but I could not implement it via SNOTE and I cannot increase the supportpackage level, since it is only kernel 6.20.
I have no idea what to do.

  • PCG Data Conceal / Hiding Field on HTML/Self-service page

    Hi Expert,
Customer has a requirements to extend prevention logic of data conceal and hidding field to self-service page i.e. R12 Supplier & customer creation pages.
What would be the best approach to do this with GRC products?
    Thanks for all responses.
    Regards,

If the page is HTML based rather than a java form, then PCG cannot work. PCG works specifically for intercepting java form calls using the jinitiator applet.

  • Standard process for creating Services and accessing Services on EBS 11i

    All,
Do you have any kind of documentation that explains how we should handle Services in the EBS 11i?
We have two types of interfaces currently and no one of them uses Services:
    1. We create files in some kind of gateway
    2. We get files generated in a gateway or when it's the case we access different databases via database link.
    I really appreciate your help.
    Thanks,
    Fernando

Right, but what would be all the standard process for creating a webservice?
Is there any kind of document that shows in detail how to do that? and also, how we should access webservices from other systems?
    Thanks for your help.

  • The number of active sessions isn't decreasing in OC4J instance

    Hi Guru’s,
    Could you help me, please?
The number of active sessions isn’t decreasing in OC4J instance after our clients closed the application.
Our partner use Oracle AS 10gR3 (10.1.3.4.0) with J2EE and HTTP mode.
When we monitoring our OC4J instance with Performance tab on Oracle EM, we appreciate that the value of Active Sessions on ‘Servlets and JSPs’ are very high. If users close our applications, then number of active sessions isn’t decreasing and active status isn’t becoming inactive.
Which OC4J settings responsible for managing active sessions and how can I get more information about the active session details?
    Thanks in advance,

  • Find Number of Active Calendar Client Sessions?

What is the "ps" command to find the number of active Calendar clients at any given time?
We are using 10.1.2 in an OCS installation on Linux SuSe servers.
Also, is there a way to see the individual usernames associated with each active session?

On e.g. UNIX you can perform
