  • Connecting BI Web Server with SQL Server Express / Visual Studio Express for Report Development

    Hi,
    My company is using the Report Builder 3.0 to build the BI Reports ( I guess based on SQL Server 2008 R2). Our software vendor has provided us the web URL to access the BI Server. I want to generate the BI Reports with SQL Server Express or  Visual
    Studio Express instead of Report Builder 3.0. Need some guidance in this regard.
    regards, BI.Developer.

    Hi,
    Based on my research, if we want to open the report from report server to Business Intelligence Development Studio, we should download the report from report manager, then add this item in Business Intelligence Development Studio. For more details, please
    see the following steps:
    Type the URL in IE browser to access the repot manager.
    Browse to the RDL file folder or location.
    Hover over the report, and click the drop-down arrow near the RDL file.
    Click on download button, the download window will pop up now. Then save the rdl file.
    Click Manage option in the drop-down list, make a note of its Data Source Connection string.
    Create a Report Server Project in Business Intelligence Development Studio.
    Right-click the Reports folder to open the Add Existing Item dialog box, navigate to the location where you saved the .rdl file for the report, and then click Add.
    Right-click the Data Source to verify the connection string is correct.
    Besides, please make sure that software vendor had assigned ‘View reports’, ’Manage reports’, ‘Manage folder’ and ‘Manage data sources’ tasks for your account, so that you can download the report and view the data source.
    If there are any other questions, please feel free to ask.
    Thanks,

  • Can I use Same ADF application with SQL server 2008 as well as Oracle 11g?

    Hi ,
    I have created a application in ADF(Using J-Developer). I used SQL server 2008 as Database Provider. I have same Database in Oracle 11g. I want to connect my appliction to Oracle 11g database. I changed connection and connected to Oracle. But, when I tried to save or delete any data from front end, it gave error. Any solution on this?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    I have created Entity object and View object for every page in my application. That objects created from sql server database. Application is working fine with sql server. But when connected with Oracle 11g. It is giving following errors:
    On clicking search control it gives: ORA 00923 From keyword not found where expected.
    On searching with perticular field it gives: ORA-01722: Invalid Number.
    On Clicking save buttonit gives: ORA-00933: SQL command not properly ended.

  • DI Server with SQL Server 2008

    Hello.
    In the company where I work we develop an application that uses B1WS.
    In the development environment had the following characteristics:
    SAP Business One 2007 SP01, PL 09
    SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition
    Windows XP Professional SP 3
    SAP Business One Web Services 1.0
    At the time we applied to the deploying the SAP Business One version 8.8, but I had a serious problem. The test environment has the following characteristics:
    SQL Server 2008 Enterprise Edition
        SAP Busines One 8.8 * PL 10
    Windows Server 2008
    The problem is that when trying to connect to the DI Server generates the following messages:
    The TAO NT Naming Service has stopped. (WithOut DBUser and DBPassword)
    Unable to access SBO-Common database Login (With DBUser and DBPassword)
    I tested the connection directly to the DI Server disponbile by example in the SDK and it generates the same error. For the SAP interface is connected correctly.
    DI Server allows connect with SQL Server 2008?

    Had the same error
    'The TAO NT Naming Service has stopped.'
    Was using the external IP address for the LicenceServer - which is on the same server as SAP DIserver and B1WS.
    I changed to using localhost:30000 and that solved the issue.
    I suspect if I had used the internal IP it would have worked as well (ie the one you get from ipconfig) but as it works I'm not going to test that.

  • Integrating J2EE application with SQL Server Reporting Services

    Hello everybody,
    I want to integrate a J2EE application with SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services. In fact, it is the first time to be involved in developing an interoperability component between .Net web service and Java application. So I have learned for some time how to pass this challenge. Moreover, I found the following virtual lab is an excellent starting point "MSDN Virtual Lab: Implementing SQL Server Reporting Services with a Java Enterprise Edition (EE) Application" [http://msevents.microsoft.com/CUI/WebCastEventDetails.aspx?EventID=1032315323&EventCategory=3&culture=en-US&CountryCode=US]

  • How to use lexical parameters with Sql Server Stored Procedure?

    Hi,
    I'm developing a BI Publisher report on a sql server database. I need to execute a stored procedure to dynamically build the query by replacing the lexical parameters with the values of varaibles of the stored procedure. With Oracle stored procedures, I have used data template and had reference the varaiable in SP by prefixing it with '&'.
    It doesn't work if I try to do the same thing with SQL server. Is there anyone who has come across the similar situation? Please let me know if anyone has got any ideas...
    Thanks in Advance

    TopLink currently doesn't support multiple ResultSets. Multiple ResultSets support is considered for a future release.

  • Instant Client with SQL Server - HELP!!

    G'day all...
    My goal is to connect to a server using Oracle Database version 8.1.7.4, from a server which does not have either Oracle Database or the full Oracle Client, preferrably using SQL Server DTS packages.
    With that said, I have installed instant client basic and instant client ODBC suppliment on our first development server using the instructions at the following link without any difficulties, although I do admit that I only have a tnsnames.ora file and not a sqlnet.ora file:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/oci/instantclient/instantclient.html
    The trouble is, when I attempt to deploy it on any of our other servers it fails. When I attempt to connect using Microsoft ODBC Driver for Oracle in a DTS package in SQL Server I get the following error message:
    HResult of 0x8004005 (-2147467259) returned Unexpected error occurred. An error result was returned without an error message.
    (Note: This is seen on all other servers I've tried this on except for the first one).
    I have also tried setting up a System ODBC connection using the Instant Client driver but it returned this error message:
    Unable to connect
    SQLState=S1000
    [Oracle][ODBC][Ora]ORA-12705: invalid or unknown NLS parameter value specified
    In desperation I have also tried installing the Oracle RDB Driver and the Oracle 8.1.7.8.1.0 ODBC driver. Both appear to install successfully yet nothing seems to work.
    As far as I can tell,l these are the differences between the first server and the other servers:
    - First server is MS SQL Server 2000 version: 8.00.760, rest are 8.00.818
    - First server is running MS SQL Server Analysis services, rest are not
    - First server is MS Windows 2000 Advanced Server, rest are MS Windows 2000 Server
    So my first question: Does anyone know if the Instant Client tool works with SQL Server version: 8.00.818?
    My second question: Can anyone else suggest something that I haven't tried yet, short of installing the Full Oracle Client on this server? Not that I'm opposed to doing that, it's just that it's a last resort idea as of now...
    Please help - need to roll this into production soon...

    Kent, I see that many others have reported that error (doing
    a google search), but I see no ready answers. I saw something that
    reminded me of a connection string value that I've seen answer some
    problems. May be worth a shot for you: try adding this string to
    the connection string (in "advanced options") for your datasource:
    AuthenticationMethod=Type2
    If it doesn't solve it, remove it. But keep it handy in case
    it ever may help with some other problem.
    Here's one other possible answer for you:

  • Report with sql server database

    hi
    i m trying to create a report for sql server database
    first time it was developed successfully but when i tried to run it next time it throws error
    REP-4100 : Failed to execute data source
    JDBCPDS -62008 : SQL Server Error:
    S1000 [Microsoft SQL Server Driver] Connection is busy with results for another hstmt
    now today when i tried to develop a new report it shows two new errors:
    1.
    REP-4100 : Failed to execute data source
    JDBCPDS -62008 : SQL Server Error:
    S0002[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Invalid object name
    2.
    REP-4100 : Failed to execute data source
    JDBCPDS -62008 : SQL Server Error:
    08S01[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]Communication link failure

    Srini,
    yes you can use report Buider with Sql Server through jdbc driver.
    When you define the report datasource, you just have to set the JDBC conection infos.

  • ADF BC Primary key generation with SQL Server DB

    Hi,
    I am using ADF 11.1.1.6 to develop a small application that will do some very basic CRUD operations on a SQL Server DB.
    I read through http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/jdev/multidatabaseapp-085183.html before I'm starting to implement the Entity objects.
    This document describes a way to do primary key generation using a table created in the DB and instructs to create an application connection to the Database :
    +2. Create a Connection to the Table+
    In your application, create a database connection named ROWIDAM_DB that points to the database containing your S_ROW_ID table. Alternatively, edit your BC project's properties and add the following Java option to the project's run configuration:
    -Djbo.rowid_am_conn_name= appconnection
    where appconnection is the name of a database connection that points to the S_ROW_ID table.
    My question is how do we do this when we mve to a production environment ?
    Also I'll be interested to hear if anyone has any pointers for developing ADF apps with SQL Server. (gotchas, performance pitfalls etc. )

    Upadte : This is SQL Server 2005
    Edited by: Jeevan Joseph on May 2, 2012 9:04 AM

    my apologies to everyone ... This should have been very simple. I just need to provide the config in my AM configuration(bc4j.xml)
    jbo.rowid_am_conn_name* should be set to the connection name you create. For production deployments, theres a similar
    jbo.rowid_am_datasource_name* that should work just fine (though I havent tried if it has any hiccups).
    I'd like to point out one thing though, for whoever might stumble upon this thread and find it useful later on...
    After I did the steps above, everything seemed to work when I tested the app from the AM tester. But when I built a UI for it in ADF Faces, I started getting an exception on Create/CreateInsert :
    java.lang.ClassCastException: com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerConnection cannot be cast to oracle.jdbc.OracleConnection
         at oracle.jbo.server.OracleSQLBuilderImpl.setSessionTimeZone(OracleSQLBuilderImpl.java:5533)
         at oracle.jbo.server.DBTransactionImpl.refreshConnectionMetadata(DBTransactionImpl.java:5311)
         at oracle.jbo.server.DBTransactionImpl.initTransaction(DBTransactionImpl.java:1194)
         at oracle.jbo.server.DBTransactionImpl.initTxn(DBTransactionImpl.java:6826)
         at oracle.jbo.server.DBTransactionImpl2.connect(DBTransactionImpl2.java:136)
         at oracle.jbo.common.ampool.DefaultConnectionStrategy.connect(DefaultConnectionStrategy.java:213)The trouble is that the ADF Faces adf-config.xml overrides the AM configuration. Oracle is the default, and it overrides the SQL flavor I set when initializing the Model project.
    This was not mentioned in the original document probably because ADF faces was out of scope for that document.
    I also found this thread extremely useful, and its what reminded me of the ADF Faces AM config overrides : Re: Locking mode 'optupdate' with SQL92
    Cheers !

  • Error Establishing Socket with SQL Server 2000

    I have a java application that uses JDBC to connect to a source of data.
    The application has been installed on many platforms using many different data sources, but one combination has beaten me.
    I am using Windows Server 2003 and SQL Server 2000 Enterprise, when the application starts up it fails to connect to the database with the following message:
    [Microsoft][SQL Server 2000 Driver for JDBC] Error Establishing Socket
    I have looked at a lot of forums and tried many things but nothing has fixed the problem for me:
    To summarise:
    The URL I am using is jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://locahost:1433
    I have also tried using the name of the machine and it's actual IP address
    I have checked that TCP/IP is enabled and using the correct port (1433)
    Both SQL Server and Windows authentication are enabled and I can connect using both method from ODBC
    I can connect to it and use it with c#.net, vb.net and ODBC from the same machine
    I have installed the latest SQL Server 2000 service pack
    The application works with SQL Server 2000 Developer on Windows XP
    If anyone has any other suggestions, I would love to hear from you.

    If you printed out the SQL state and error code that would be a bit more info:
    catch (SQLException e)
        e.printStackTrace();
        System.err.println("SQL state: " + e.getSQLState());
        System.err.println("SQL error: " + e.getErrorCode());
    }Maybe that will give you more detail as to exactly why this is happening.
    The only other thought I had was security. Maybe there's a permission to access the port that would have to be granted explicitly as part of M$'s new emphasis on security. You did say it was Windoze Server 2003. Maybe that's the difference between all the other installs and this one.
    No joy from me, sorry. - MOD

  • No suitable driver with SQL Server Driver

    Hi,
    i'm making a jsp page that it use a JDBC Connection to a SQL Server with SQL Server 2000 Driver for JDBC.
    I put in JDeveloper Project Settings, Configurations\Development\Libraries, the reference to msbase.jar, msutil.jar and mssqlserver.jar. Alse i put the reference to Oracle JDBC libraries.
    The code in jsp page to reference the driver, obtain the DataSource and get the connection is the following:
    java.sql.DriverManager.registerDriver(new com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver());
    javax.naming.Context ic = new javax.naming.InitialContext();
    javax.sql.DataSource ds = (javax.sql.DataSource) ic.lookup("jdbc/SQLServerDS");
    java.sql.Connection con = ds.getConnection();
    I defined the DataSource in data-sources.xml, wich look like:
    <data-source class="com.evermind.sql.DriverManagerDataSource" location="jdbc/SQLServerCoreDS" password="<pass>" username="<user>" url="jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://<server>:1433" xa-location="jdbc/xa/SQLServerXADS" inactivity-timeout="30" connection-driver="com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver" name="SQLServerDS" ejb-location="jdbc/SQLServerDS">
    <property name="DatabaseName" value="Northwind"/>
    <property name="SelectMethod" value="direct"/>
    </data-source>
    This compile ok, but when i run the page appears the following error (SQLException):
    No suitable driver
    After looking so much, i don't find the cause of the problem.
    Can anyone helpme?
    Thanks
    Javier S.

    Hi Javier,
    Although I don't work with JDeveloper, as far as I know, for OC4J, I believe you need to put the relevant JAR files in the "j2ee/home/lib" subdirectory of the OC4J installation. Unfortunately, since I don't work with JDeveloper, I can't tell you where that would be -- sorry :-(
    I suggest that you try asking also in the JDeveloper forum (in case you haven't already :-)
    Hope this helps you.
    Good Luck,
    Avi.

  • Sharepoint Foundation 2010 compatibility with SQL Server 2014

    Due to a requirement to use Sharepoint without Active Directory access.  I am trying to find explicit confirmation whether Sharepoint Foundation 2010 is compatible with SQL Server 2014.  I have seen that Sharepoint Server 2010 and 2013 are compatible
    with SQL Server 2014 as of CU 1 (released in April).  But there is no mention of Sharepoint Foundation.
    This chart is great except it doesn't mention whether the Foundation versions are supported.
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg492257.aspx
    Thanks.

    Note that that is for the Reporting Services component, but not necessarily for the SQL Database Engine component (which comes from the SharePoint Product Group, rather than the SQL Product Group). I haven't seen any confirmation that SharePoint 2010 is
    supported at all with SQL 2014 as a Database Engine.

  • JDBC with SQL Server

    Hi,
    I am trying to connect to a SQL server database by giving table name in (SPVC) database as spvc.dbo.tablename.. If i want to access another database (SPVC_D), how can i do it without changing my java code?? Can i be able to add the database name to the connection string and i can remove the hard coding (spvc.dbo.) from my java code?? How shall i be able to do that..
    Please let me know.. I am very new with JDBC with SQL server..
    Thanks
    Praveen Padala

    In the MS SQL Server that I use, the following syntax
    spvc.dbo.tablename
    Breaks done as follows...
    <database>.<user>.<tablename>
    However connections are always to a database. Thus when one uses the above syntax it basically runs 'in' the one database and accesses another.
    Depending on various attributes of the tables, if and only if, a table called 'tablename' exists in a database called 'spvc_d' then if you connect to 'spvc_d' then you can access 'tablename' just by using 'tablename'.
    So if that is what you are doing you will not have a problem.

  • Toplink with sql server

    I have sucessfully used Toplink with Oracle. ow I have to use it with MS SQL server and I am having problems. First of all, in the Mapping Worbench, the only SQL server driver listed is weblogic.jdbc.mssqlserver4.Driver. Why can't I use the regular ms sql driver, com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver? Why should the mapping workbench be tied to Weblogic? If one did not have Weblogic, would it be impossible to use Toplink with SQL server? Well, I have Weblogic, so I tried using the weblogic driver with the url jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://<host ip>:1433;DatabaseName=<db name>. When I try to connect, a dialog box appears that says: "java.sql.SQLException $$$$$$$$$$ License Exception $$$$$$$$$$ Missing license for: WebLogic Server 6.1. $$$$$$$$$$ License Exception $$$$$$$$$$ Username or password could be invalid." I have weblogic.jar in the classpath. I tried adding the line SET WLS61_HOME=M:\bea610\wlserver6.1 to workbench.cmd. It didn't help. Any suggestions?

    I already tried this. It does not work. I put the following jars in the classpath in workbench.cmd: msbase.jar;mssqlserver.jar;msutil.jar. Then I start workbench. When I try to enter com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver as the driver, I get an exception. Here is the stacktrace:

    If I ignore the exception and try to connect to the database anyway, it tries to use the weblogic driver.
    Next I manually edited the database xml file and put in the driver name automatically. When I bought up the mapping workbench again, it again threw an exception. However, the correct driver name was in the file, so it did finally let me connect to the database. So it seems there IS a bug, although it has to do with the GUI and not SQL server per se.
