Dflt report in 6i and 10g

Hi
I am trying to get a tillslip to print correctly after converting from reports 6i to 10g. The problem i think is that the outputfile generated in the 6i version is diffrent from the output file in 10g. The 10g version looks similar to postscript while the 6i output file does not mean anything to me.
If i open the 6i test.dflt file it looks something like: =c0c1c32R
If i open the 10g test.dflt file it looks something like:
%!PS-Adobe-3.0 %
%Creator: Oracle Toolkit 2 for Motif 10.1.2.0.2 PRODUCTION
Using the 6i output file i can print the tillslip correctly in both the 6i and 10g environments. Using the 10g output file all the char in the output file prints including the comments (the %!PS-Adobe-3.0 % bit also)
Any ideas how to get the output file the same. All report settings (DESFOTMAT, DESTYPE, ...) are the same. The dflt.prt file only differs as follows:
printer "dflt"
height 66
width 80
after page control(L)
return        ""  (this line in 6i file is: return        "M" )
linefeed control(J)
Any ideas will be helpfull. I have tried creating the report as a .rtf, .pdf and .ps file and all of them print with the code inside and not just the tillslip info.
Thanks

Hi
I afound that the problem is that the app server does not know about the printer as it is connected to a users PC. Thus when using the dflt desformat it selects the default printer language of the App Server printer. This is the reason why the files are diffrent.
If I understand everything the process should be:
1 - Run the report from forms (on app server).
2 - Write the report to a file on App Server and then transfer the file to the user PC.
3 - Send file correct printer on the user PC.
The problem still remains on how to create the correct file which can be send to the printer connected to the users PC as the driver of the correct printer is not known too the App Server. The printer still prints the file incorrectly as the file is not created using its drive as what the case was when running it in 6i.
Setting the MODE to character (which will enable you to provide a .prt file if you had one to give) will not work as the report contains an image.

  • Sorting in 6i and 10g reports

    Hello All,
    I am running 6i and 10g reports against a 10g database.
    I ran one of the 6i report and it generated a report in one sorting ordear
    and when i ran the same report on 10g ,it generated the report in ddifferent order.
    Both the reports r run against the same 10g database.
    The order by clause on the columns of the records r identical.
    Now i wanted to understand how it is sorting in different orders in both 6i and 10g reports?
    Thanks,
    Ranz

    Hi,
    Please note the fact that 6i Reports is not certified to work with 10g Database. Hence it becomes impossible to address the sorting behavior of 6i Reports, though there is nothing different in the way it works. I would suggest you to use 10gR2 version of Reports services with 10g Database which is certified and supported. Thanks for your understanding.

  • Report server 6i and Report services 10g

    what is the extra features in Report Services 10g which are not available in Report server 6i.
    why would we use AS report services 10g rather then report server 6i,and our only requirment is to run oracle report on web which can fulfill with the help of reports server 6i.

    There is a long list of new features and I cant put all of them here
    You can see docs below
    For running on Web 9i, 10g moves to Servlet based architecture (though old cgi mode is available for backward compatibility). Reports behaves as a component in IAS and can be monitored and managed through Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM).

  • Crystal Report 2008 SP3 and BO XI 3.1 conflict

    Hi every body,
    We have a BOE system:
    BO XI 3.1
    Oracle db 10g
    All running successful and can create some types of WebI report.
    But we also want reports with Crystal Report.
    1> So we install Crystal Report 2008 SP3 (without knowing the conflict error between BO XI 3.1 and Crystal Report 2008 SP3 and overwrite some .dll file). After installing, we can not create WebI report any more. And a error message box display: "DBDriver failed to load: C:\Program File\Business Objects\BusinessObjects ENterprise12.0\win32_x86\dataAccess\connectionServer\dbd_oci.dll ".
    2> We uninstall Crystal Report SP3. But this is not the solution. Still error because of missing .dll files.
    3> We open BO XI 3.1 setup and repair BO XI 3.1. Even we uninstall BO XI 3.1, delete all of its components and delete in regedit key. We install BO XI 3.1 again. Now we have full .dll file, not missing them any more. But when we open universe and click on Table browser, cannot fetching any tables.
    We set rights for Oracle DB user again. But still error: cannot fetching.
    4> We searched the solution for this problem on the internet. But not worked, no answer.
    Can somebody help me bring back the BOE system state again ? pls   :"<
    T______T

    Hi Paul,
    I hope I read your question right!
    Yes, It is possible to run XIR2 and 3.1 on the same server although it's not recommended by BO. You will need to make sure they are both pointing to different CMS databases and different FRS repositories, like you already mentioned you will need to specify different ports for the CMS db and Tomcat.
    Why not uninstall Business Objects XI R2 in your BO development environment or a spare server (if you have one), and do a clean install of XI 3.1 SP3.
    Tip: If you were already having performance issues with your XI R2 environment, I would seriously consider upgrading the hardware. XI 3.1 needs a bit more RAM and CPU than XI R2

  • Migrate reports from 6i to 10g

    Hello friends,
    I want to migrate reports created in oracle 6i report builder
    to
    oracle 10g.
    Please give me steps for that.
    Arvind2

    It happens on all machine. We use browser to launch the application and the report is called from forms (10.1.2). We didn't change any code in report and neither the fonts (Tahoma). In 6i, client server environment, windows can find the font. I guess in 10g web environment, the font is not as default. HP Laserjet 8000N is a network printer which I use to testing my report. everything is fine in 6i but not 10g. Here is my question.
    1. How to check printer setup? Should I use the default font from Linux instead of Tahoma?
    2. I found a note in metalink, Note:356221.1 which explains the procedures to deploy reports from windows to Linux. I am not sure my problem is related to the font or something else...
    Thanks for you reponse.

    Hi,
    Do you have any 11i instance where those custom forms are used? If yes, you will have to copy those forms from 11i to R12 instance, open the forms using Forms 10g builder, compile it and upload it back to the server.

  • Urgent: Calling Reports from Oracle Forms 10g (10.1.2.0.2) fails

    Problem displaying a report from within Oracle 10g forms.
    After a lot of work, we are able to access and actually display a report directly from Internet explorer and view the report from the report server as well.
    The successful url was:
    http://york.vrc.virginia.gov:7778/reports/rwservlet
    ?report=/u01/app/oracle/produ ct/vrcmidtier/reports/vrc/pmw41051.rdf
    &userid=vrcpr/vrcpr@vrctest&destype=cache&desformat=HTML
    The form displays correctly back to the screen
    When executing from within the form, however, the report runs but does not display back to the screen.
    Forms Steps so far:
    created a report object called pmw41050
    static parameters are:
    file name: /u01/app/oracle/product/vrcmidtier/reports/vrc/pmw41051.rdfination format
    execution mode: batch
    communication mode: synchronous
    destination name; null
    destination format: HTML
    reportserver:: vrc_york_midtier
    Built a when button pressed trigger as follows:
    declare
    l_report_file varchar2(200);
    l_report_id REPORT_OBJECT;
    l_report_status varchar2(200);
    begin
    -- capture the report
    l_report_file := 'pmw41051';
    l_report_id := find_report_object(l_report_file);
    -- set the parameters for this output
    set_report_object_property(l_report_id, REPORT_EXECUTION_MODE, BATCH);
    set_report_object_property(l_report_id, REPORT_COMM_MODE, SYNCHRONOUS);
    set_report_object_property(l_report_id, REPORT_DESTYPE, CACHE);
    set_report_object_property(l_report_id, REPORT_DESFORMAT, 'PDF');
    set_report_object_property(l_report_id, REPORT_SERVER, 'rep_york_vrcmidtier');
    set_report_object_property(l_report_id, REPORT_OTHER, 'PARAMFORM=NO');
    set_report_object_property(l_report_id, REPORT_DESNAME, 'DESNAME');
    -- and run the report
    l_report_status := run_report_object(l_report_id);
    -- monitor progress
    while l_report_status in ('RUNNING', 'OPENING_REPORT', 'ENQUEUED') loop
    l_report_status := report_object_status(l_report_status);
    end loop;
    message('back from the report'); -- test message for return
    end;
    The report executes without error (as indicated by the message on the last line) but does NOT display back to the screen
    checking the rwservlet/showjobs verifies the report completed and the reportcan be displayed from there.
    So, bottom line: how to make a 10g form call report and display it on the screen?

    Thanks MIke for your feedback...
    Will this surfice?
    Procedure Test_Report Is
    repid REPORT_OBJECT;

    hi
    try something like this.
    DECLARE
    charWinHandle VARCHAR2(50);
    numWinHandle NUMBER;
    BEGIN Set_Application_Property(Cursor_Style,'BUSY');
    charWinHandle := Get_Item_Property('Control.Rep',Window_Handle);
    numWinHandle := To_Number(charWinHandle);
    :Item('Control.CrystalReport1').OCX.Crystal.Crysta lReport.WindowParentHandle
    := numWinHandle;
    :Item('Control.CrystalReport1').OCX.Crystal.Crysta lReport.WindowState := 2;
    :Item('CONTROL.CRYSTALREPORT1').OCX.Crystal.Crysta lReport.Connect
    := 'DSN=;UID=' || Get_Application_Property(UserName) ||
    ';pwd=' || Get_Application_Property(password) || ';dsq=;';
    Crystal_CrystalCtrl.ReportFileName( :Item('Control.CrystalReport1').interface,
    'C:\Sample_Rep.Rpt' );
    Set_Window_Property( Forms_Mdi_Window, Window_State,Maximize );
    Set_Window_Property( 'MAIN', Window_State, Maximize );
    :reptitle := 'Report Preview Window';
    numWinHandle := Crystal_CrystalCtrl.PrintReport( :Item('Control.CrystalReport1').interface );
    Set_Application_Property(Cursor_Style,'DEFAULT');
    END;NOTE: Change the report name and path according to your required file name and path in
    the "Crystal_CrystalCtrl.ReportFileName" method call. Also, the connection string shown
    assumes that you will use the current USER and PASSWORD for the Form.
    - To make the above Form generic so that you can run any Crystal report from it, then create
    a parameter for the report name and pass it to the Form using CALL_FORM from any other Form.
    Then just replace the file name with the passed parameter.
    -. Run the Form
    If its correct/helpful please mark it thanks.

  • Calling Crystal Reports from Oracle Forms 10G

    Hi everyone,
    I am trying to call a crystal report from Oracle Forms 10G.
    I have a button on my Form which when clicked calls a Crystal Report which the uaser then wants to save as a PDf file.
    Can someone please send me the code to do this and also the exact steps that are to be followed.
    Thanks
    Fm.

    Hi Andreas,
    I am trying to call the crystal report from an Oracle Form using a URL. No batch file is being used here.
    I am looking for a peice of code similar to run_product or run_report built in in Oracle which calls an Oracle report from an Oracle Form.
    Also I dont want to display the report on a screen or a window in Oracle Forms. I would like it to run just as we run an Oracle Report from an Oracle Form.
    Is that possible ? If yes please let me know the steps to do this.
    Thanks

  • SQL performance 9i and 10g

    Hi guys,
    I have question regarding sql fetching slow response issue in 10g compared to 9i. Have enabled the 10046 trace the actual CPU and Elapsed time of that query.
    cpu = cpu time in seconds executing
    elapsed = elapsed time in seconds executing
    rows = number of rows processed by the fetch or execute call
    SQL == Running on 9i
    call count cpu elapsed disk query current rows
    Parse 1 0.01 0.01 0 0 0 0
    Execute 1 0.00 0.00 0 0 0 0

    I have raised the issue with Oracle Support, the the OSS said.. your 10046 trace is good and take only 1-2 sec. And he didn't follow after that. Please help if you have idea. Thanks

  • Registering Report Writer in Portal 10g

    Portal 10g AS software is fairly new and not a lot of books are available for it.
    I am looking for a guide or proper steps to registering the Oracle Report Server with Portal 10g.
    I have looked at this doc: http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/html/B14048_01/pbr_portal.htm#i1007990
    and the value for "Oracle Reports Web Gateway URL for RDF reports" provided in the doc does not seem to work. Thanks for assistance.

    Or the portal forum at:
    Oracle Application Server Portal

  • How to get report Server Name and Environment ID in Report

    How to print report Server Name and Environment ID in Report 10G.(Through in package or others)
    I'm also using Oracle Application Server 10G.

    Hi,
    Server and envid are the parameters passed along with Reports URL call.
    These variables value can be traped in Report by defining SERVER , ENVID named user parameters.
    Once trapped, can be printed on Report.
    Just ensure that these users parameters are not exposed to Parameter page, otherwise user may end up changing it.
    Thanks

  • Custom Reports Server Issue (upgrading 10g to Weblogic 11g)

    I am having an issue with "Anonymous' user showing up when I go into the console of the Weblogic server to see all the report requests. In 10g (which we are upgrading from), I have report requests that I do a Preview from within Oracle Forms. When I do the RUN_REPORT_OBJECT/SHOW.WEB_DOCUMENT, it captures the User account and put it in the console with that username. On 11.1.1.4, using same form/report, it doesn't capture the username. If I call the reports server from the database, it does work fine.
    Anyone have any ideas if there's something I have to do in Oracle Forms to put that username in or if it's a setting on the Custom Reports Server that i need to set so that it captures the name from the Oracle Forms session.

    Hi A. Drieux,
    Thanks for the reply. i have some questions on ODI.
    Now we are using hyperion 11.1.1.3 with ODI 10.1.3. We are upgrading hyperion version 11.1.1.3 to 11.1.2.2.
    Is it possible, to use the same ODI 10.1.3 version to upgrade version(hyperion 11.1.2.2) also?
    Reply would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    mady
