DI Server and IIS on different physical Servers

Hi all,
I'm pretty new to this topic regarding Web-Services and DI-Server.
We are trying to build a solution which enables a customer to change BP-data through the internet.
In the DI-Server Sample program from SAP I've found a reference to the SBODI_Server.dll.
Now at customer projects it will be most likely the case, that the IIS Server will be on the other side of the firewall than the SBO Server. Which means, the webservice will be running on another physical server than the DI- Server.
How do I have to install the different components on the servers and how do I have to define the addressing on my webservice to connect to DI Server?
Any tips appreciated
Regards,
Marcel

Hi Marcel,
Have you considered implementing a Web Service layer that runs on the server where DI Server is installed. This layer would take care of interacting with the DI Server. The IIS application that is located in the DMZ could then access this intermediate layer without having to worry or even know about the underlying DI Server installation.

  • High availability for file server and exchange with 2 physical servers

    Dear Experts,
I have 2 physical server with local disks only. I want to setup below on same with high availability, please advise best prossible options. We will be using windows 2012 R2 Server..
    1. Domain controller
    2. Exchange 2013
As of now I am thinking of setting up below:
    1. Install Hyper-v on both and create 3 VM on each as
-On Host A- 1 VM for DC, 1 VM for File server with DFS namespace and replication for file server HA and 1 VM for Exchange 2013 with CAS/MBX with DAG and DNS RR for Exchange HA
-On Host B - 1 VM for ADC, 1 VM for File server DFS member for above and 1 VM for Exchange 2013 CAS/MBX with DAG member
I have read on internet about new features called scale out file server (SoFS) in Windows 2012 Server but not sure that will be preferred for file sharing.
Any advise will be highly appreciated..

    Best regards,
DFS is by far the best way to implement any sort of file server. Because a) failover is not fully transparent and does not happen always (say not on copy ) b) DFS cannot replicate open files so if you edit a big file and have node rebooted you're going to
lose ALL transactions/updates you've applied c) actually slows down the config. See:
    DFS for failover

    DFS Performance
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/filecab/archive/2009/08/22/windows-server-dfs-namespaces-performance-and-scalability.aspx
SoFS a) requires shared storage to run and you don't have one b) does not support generic workloads
(only Hyper-V and SQL Server) and c) technically makes sense to expand SAS JBOD or existing FC SAN to numerous Hyper-V clients over 10 GbE w/o need to invest money into SAS switches and HBAs and FC HBAs and new licenses FC ports. Making long story short:
    SoFS is NOT YOUR CASE.

For now you need to find some shared storage to be a back end for your hypevisor config (SAS JBOD from supported list, virtual SAN from multiple vendors like for example StarWind see below, make sure you review ALL the vendors) and then you create a failover
SMB 3.0 share for your file server workload. See:

For Exchange you use SMB share from above for a file share witness and use DAG. See:

Good luck! Hope this helped :)
StarWind VSAN [Virtual SAN] clusters Hyper-V without SAS, Fibre Channel, SMB 3.0 or iSCSI, uses Ethernet to mirror internally mounted SATA disks between hosts.

  • 10g: HTTP Server and OC4J on different servers?

Can anyone assist with configuring HTTP Server and OC4J on different servers?
I installed AS 10g on both; our application runs fine on one server, with the HTTP Server and OC4J both on the same box.
I need to also test this with the HTTP Server on a separate box.
    I added this to mod_ocj4.conf:
    Oc4jMount /indox-qa1
    instance://cvodev2:oas_dev2.cvodev2.int.sys.com:indox-qa1
    Oc4jMount /indox-qa1/*
    instance://cvodev2:oas_dev2.cvodev2.int.sys.com:indox-qa1
But when I try to access something like http://cvodev4/indox-qa1 I get this in the logs:

I did some ethernet sniffing and it doesn't look to me like the OHS box is even trying to contact the OC4J box.
Is there more configuration I need to do beyond this?

  • JMS on different physical servers

I have about 4 different weblogic instances running same application and running on different physical machines. One server has a topic defined and a deployed messaging bean is to listen to the messages comes to this topic. I have a foreign server and local jndi names defined on each of these servers which point to the server that has Topic defined. Server with topic defined comes up fine and runs just fine. But when I try to bring the other servers up, it fails on MDB deployment complaining no remote server found (connection not found). Basically throws JMSException: connection not found.

Pls post your MDB's DD and relevant part (i.e. JMS and Managed Server details) of your config.xml.
              Cheers!

  • (Deployment) Minimum Software required for BUILD server and IIS WebServer

We have a simple .Net SDK application written using VB-2005 and the Crystal Reports XI (R2) DEVELOPER package.
The RPT files are posted on our BOE-XI (R2) server, and are called using the View-On-Demand method from the Page Server (similar to the SDK sample application). At some point in the future, our .Net applications may invoke some of the other SDK content types.
In our environment, the .NET web-applications are checked-in to Clear Case, and then sent to a stand-alone BUILD server to be compiled. The compiled .NET web-applications are then posted to a stand-alone IIS WebServer (not the IIS server that hosts BOE InfoView/CMC).
The BUILD server and IIS WebServer have to be as "stripped-down" as possible in order to go through our QAT and Impact Analysis process.
So far we have had success if we deploy the SDK-only install from the Crystal Reports XI (R2) DEVELOPER package, and the service packs, but it doesn't include all the SDK components for other BOE content types.
If we deploy the Client-only install from the BOE-XI (R2) package, and the service packs - it doesn't seem to include the CR-Viewer which we need. But it does includes a bunch of extra software (eg. UNIVERSE DESIGNER) on the desktop of the BUILD server and IIS WebServer that our QA guys don't like.
What are the Minimum Software required for BUILD server and IIS WebServer to support CR and BOE SDKs...?
Are there any install packages that contain JUST those components, and not all the extra software that is not needed to Build/Deploy in .NET...?
Thanks in advance for the advice.

Due to the CrystalDecisions.web.dll for the 2.0 framework being left off the BOE CD you will need to install the Crystal XI R2 runtimes as well as the BOE SDK.
To get the BOE SDK launch the Enterprise XI R2 installer and choose Server Install - not Client Install.  Choose a Custom install.  You'll be presented with a drop down list for the Enterprise components.  Deselect everything and then look for the Developer Components option.  You may have to drill down into one of the levels to find it.  Under Developer Components you'll see the BusinessObjects Enterprise .NET SDK.  Select it to install it.

  • Configure messaging server and MTA on different machine

Is there anyways to install / configure messaging server and MTA on different machine? I am using Sun One Messaging server 6.0
    Thanks
    Haris

Thanks for the reply, How MTA can be disabled on the
messaging server? how can i disable the store on the
MTA machine, Is there any documentation for it?Yes, the documentation helps you. You cannot totally disable the MTA. If you did, how would you get mail to the store?
    Also
is it possible to use some another machine for
webmail?Well, um, kind of. The webmail interface provided with Messaging Server interacts directly with the store, so you can't truly run that remotely, but .. .
You can install the server on a remote box, and turn on "Messaging Express Multiplexor", a proxy for webmail. Users can then connect to the MEM box, and be forwarded to the store for their mails.
It should be possible to use a third-party webmail product that uses something like IMAP to talk to the store, too. that would be unsupported, but possible. Most users find MEM to be very good.
What problem are you trying to solve? Perhaps I can better help you if I know why you're asking these questions, and offer a better solution to you.

  • Separating CF 7 and IIS on different servers

I have an application that I wrote and normally host in my
environment with CF 7 Enterprise and the Web server (IIS 6)
installed on the same server (same physical machine). However, I
now have a client that wants to install the application in their
data center and they require that the Web server be isolated on a
separate machine in their DMZ network segment, with the CF
application server isolated on another network segment. In
reviewing the CF 7 documentation, I couldn't find instructions for
installing and configuring this type of environment. Does anyone
know of any installation instructions for this configuration that
you could point me to? I also need to know if any special ports
need to be opened between the two separate network segments.

I believe the server documentation discusses this. I believe
    the basic
process is to use the web configuration tool on the web
    server and when
you run it, you point the web server to the ColdFusion
    application server.

  • Need recommendation - iis with two physical servers and clusters

    Hello,
I was hoping to get a recommendation/opinion or two on the configuration I've inherited. I'm looking
at the following configuration using weblogic 8.1 sp4 server (to be upgraded to sp6) running on two physical machines:
    MachineA:
    Domain: myDomain
    Cluster: cluster1
Servers: Admin Server:9001 (not part of cluster)
    ManagedServer1:7001
    ManagedServer2:7010
    MachineB:
    Domain: myDomain
    Cluster: cluster2
Servers: Admin Server:9001 (not part of cluster)
    ManagedServer3:7001
    ManagedServer4:7010
On MachineA: IIS Proxy Plugin with parameter in .ini file
    WeblogicCluster: MachineA:7001, MachineA:7010, MachineB:7001,MachineB7010
Naturally, the IIS is acting as a round robin load balancer..
The domains were created using the wizard on both machines and basic domain template..
For proper failover to be taken advantage of, does something different need to be configured? Or is it fine?
And if so, does group replication have something to do with it?
Should either of the clusters be Managed Servers across physical machines?
or should this just be one cluster of 4 managed servers across two machines?
I really am not sure on any of this, even though i've read through much of the documentation for clustering..twice.
I should mention that there is only a .war file deployed with 4 connection pools and 4 Data Sources..No EJBs or JMS
Would really appreciate any feedback or opinions/advice..
    Thanks

    This is what I'd do
    MachineA:
    Domain: myDomain
    Cluster: cluster1
Servers: Admin Server:9001 (not part of cluster)
    ManagedServer1:7010
    ManagedServer2:7020
    MachineB:
    Domain: myDomain
    Cluster: cluster2
Servers: Admin Server:9001 (not part of cluster)
    ManagedServer3:8010
    ManagedServer4:8020
I just changed the port numbers so they flow and have a pattern - 70* port numbers belong to cluster 1, 80* port numbers belong to cluster 2. No technical benefit apart from it makes it tidier in my opinion.
Port 9001 for the admin server is normally the domain wide admin port - you could be using that, so that's fine, but my admin server is running 7001.
You also only need one admin server per domain, this can run on MachineA
Replication groups are used to help WLS figure out where to place the secondary http session. It will try servers on a different machine/replication group first, if none available, it will create secondary on the same machine.
What you will end up with is a domain with 4 managed servers in it. The admin server will run on machineA, say using port 7001, each of the managed servers will contact the admin server to download it's config.
The cluster1 will contain 2 managed servers and the same for cluster2.
providing you have your cluster multicast addresses set up and the cluster is working, that should be all you need to do for the session failover.
There's some BEA sample code somewhere which will deploy a web-app and show which managed server you've attached to. If you find that and then connect through IIS, shut down the server that the JSP tells you, you should be able to see the session fail-over nicely.
    Hope that helps,
    Pete

  • Difference between Tom Cat Server,Apache Server and IIS

    HI
While looking at the exsting threads i saw someone posted something about these servers . But i',m still confused. Should i use both Tom cat and Apache or only apache to develop the web application. If yes then can i use Tom Cat with Apache
    Thanks
    Cookie

Well Apache is just a webserver that serves static webpages. Tomcat is used to interpret JSP's and serve servlets. If you plan to use JSP or Servlets, out of your choices, you'll have to use Tomcat. Speaking generally, you could probably use Tomcat for everything; it too can serve static webpages, but for a professional project, you'd probably want to use both Apache and Tomcat. IIS is overkill unless you're going to ASP.

  • Crystal Report Server and IIS 7.0

IS Crystal report server compatible with Win 2008 server/IIS 7.0. If so how can I get it to work with IIS 7.0   It keeps generating windows  DEP errors for w3wp.exe when trying to view the report through the Crystal report viewer.
Dep on my server is set to Windows services only. You can't turn off dep for W3wp.exe.
You no longer have the option to run in islation mode 5 either. This seems to be a worker process problem that I have not been able to figure out.
    Thanks,
    Robert

I'm assuming you're using XI Release 2 or older version that does not support Windows 2008 or IIS 7.
Newest version of Crystal Reports Server 2008 with upcoming Service Pack 1 should support Windows 2008 IIS 7, however, no official announcements have been made for supported platforms for SP 1.

  • Server and router on different subnets

    Hello
    Scenario 1.
A Server with one NIC assings DHCP addresses within the 192.168.1.x/24 network.
The internet router is on the 192.168.0.x/24 network.
How can the DHCP clients can access the Internet?
If the scenario requires adding another NIC, no problem.
    Thanks
    Kostas B.

Please explain your network setup further.
If you really need two subnets you must route between them and that could be achieved with OS X and two network interfaces.
Also if not using NAT in the server you need a static route in the Internet router pointing back at the second router IP on the same subnet and using that as the gw IP for the second subnet.
If you want to use VPN later using other network numbers is better.

  • Assigning folders and files to different physical disks OS X 10.9

My mid 2010 iMac 27 i7 quadcore, 32 GB memory has two 1 TB SSDs and several 2 to 3 TB 7200 / 5200 SATA, Firewire, LAN and USB external HDs. I would like to direct OS X 10.9 to use frequently accessed System data/images (boot, OS X, utilities and and their attendant folders and files) from SSD 1 and frequently used / accessed applications and their attendant folders and files on the second SSD 2. (I use Microsft Office Word and Excel frequently and also Windows 7 running on VMWare.) Then I would like to keep less frequently used applications and their attendant folders and files on the SATA 7200 external disk (USB 3.0 to 2.0), photos on a fourth external disk (firewire 800), music on a NAS (Raid 1, 1000Gb Ethernet), and movies on a fifth external HD (firewire 800). What I need to know is how to "assign" these various files to a physical disk. Please, I am not looking for opinions and/or guesses. I am looking for a strategy known to work and/or utilites known do set this up easily and correctly. Thanks in advance. BTW, I am a retired OS programmer and software/HW knowlegable. I have no Unix (or of course Apple OS X) programming experience, but have written and modified many other OSs. So one can be reasonably technical with me in their answers. Thanks again, Skip.

  • Server crashes running CFMX7 and IIS

The sequence of events is that the server runs fine....for a
short while, then either CF services or all the Web services become
unavailalbe. Sometimes the whole machine goes down, and must be
rebooted. Sometimes if the machine does not go down, restarting CF
services or the Web services IIS solves the issue and the site
    becomes available againl.
There are no server logs pointing to any hardware or Windows
operating system system problems. Running Windows 2003 Server and
    IIS 6 with CFMX7.
Sometimes when the server goes down, I get a Jrun connection
error. But I really think that the server is just getting
overloaded with these erroneous 404 errors that are showing up
every couple of minutes/seconds in the application log.
These are 404 errors for pages that have been off the Website
for years, in some cases. It feels like a Web crawler is going
through the site looking for old erroneous pages and not finding
    them.
I have built a completely new server, and now have twice the
hard-drive space and twice the RAM, but it is beginning to crash
just like the previous server. And the application log is filling
up, just like the prevous server.
We have re-assigned IP addresses, so this new server now has
the same IP address that the old one had, and even though it has a
new name, all references to the old name are being forwarded to the
new server....So our problem has followed us to the new machine.
Iiiiiiiieeeeeee. I am in the twlight zone, and can't get out.
Does anyone have any idea how I can tell where these 404 errors
might be coming from? How do I get a referrer on a log file error?
Or any other ideas at all. I am at my wits end, and if I
don't solve this problem am in serious trouble here. WCW

Goes down? Do you mean 100% CPU and unresponsive or do you
    mean it
completely locks up and doesn't even answer pings anymore?

What is the first error you see in your *-out.log? Is JRun
    maximizing
the allocated RAM when it goes down?

In your IIS logging settings, enable referrer logging. And
    you might
check if there is a "Check that file exists" checkbox in IIS
    where you
mapped the .cfm extension to CF.

  • SAP EP J2EE dispatcher, server0 and server1 on different java machines

    Hello All,
I have EP 70 on java SDK 1.4.2._26.
In logs of server0 and server1 I see "concurrent mode failure" during which Java does Stop The World and my EP completely stopped.
    The question is:
if "concurrent mode failure" is on server0 why Java stops processing on  server1 also?
How to make server0, server1,serverN independent of each other?
I mean if "concurrent mode failure" and STW is on server0 but server1 is still alive.
Currently I'm not able to distribute server0 and server1 on separate physical servers.
    Thanks

    Hi,
I may be wrong but I don't think that you can install the dispatcher and the server nodes on different servers.
If you need to increase your processing power,  you can install application server instances on different servers exactly as you would do for an abap stack system and then install a SAP Web dispatcher for HTTP load balancing.
We did that way and it works great.

    hi,
I have a computer with Windows 2000 server and IIS 5.0 installed.
I am trying to open a connection with a Weblogic Server 8 SP3 on another machine.
    My iisproxy.dll and iisproxy.ini
    are on the folder: C:\WINNT\system32\inetsrv
    iisproxy.ini :
    WlForwardPath=/IhmActivation
    Debug=ALL
    WebLogicHost=toto
    WebLogicPort=49162
    WLLogFile=C:\iisproxy3.log
    I have configured iisproxy.dll in IIS 5.0
Based on what I entered in my configuration file iisproxy.ini, if I type the URL:
    http://localhost/IhmActivation/here.do
    it should point to
    http://toto:49162/IhmActivation/here.do
    I get a 401 message:
Going to send headers to the client. Status :401 Unauthorized xxx
The login and password are ok.
So I do not know where the problem comes from.
Does anyone have an idea please ?
    Thanks for your help.

Since you are attempting to proxy by path you need to configure the iisforward.dll as stated in step #3 here:
