Difference between inventory management and warehouse management
can any body tell me the difference between inventory management and warehouse management i need atleast five differences
hi
1.
Processes in the area of Inventory Management address the recording and tracking of materials on a quantity and value basis. This includes planning, entry, and documentation of stock movements such as goods receipts, goods issues, physical stock transfers, and transfer postings as well as the performance of physical inventory (stocktaking).
Warehouse Management Processes cover warehouse-internal movements and storage of materials.
2.
SAP Warehouse Management allows you to manage your material flow, using advanced putaway and picking strategies. In the standard system, these strategies for putaway include random putaway (next empty bin), bulk storage, fixed bin, or addition to stock. The picking strategies include standard strategies first-in first-out (FIFO), last-in first-out (LIFO), picking by shelf life expiration date (SLED), or partial quantities first. For customer-specific strategies, solutions can be self-defined in user exits.
3.
While Inventory Management manages the stocks by quantity and value, the Warehouse Management component reflects the special structure of a warehouse, and monitors the allocation of the storage bins and any transfer transactions in the warehouse.

What is the difference between personnel development and performance management
Hi,
What is the difference between personnel development and performance management in terms of configuration and in portal level .
Thanks
SrikantHI Srikant,
Personnel development is PD module where u can configure the qualification catalog with the proficiency which can be attached to the position or job as a requirement and the same can be attached to the person as a qualification and then you can do the profile matchup and find any qualification deficit and can propose any trraining required to impart the qualification. And also you can do succession planing, career planing and also development plan.
Performance management is an appraisal cycle in a company . All appraisal process between manager and the employee will be taken care via portal with the appraisal template.(form)

What is the difference between Serial numbers and Batch management.
Hi Gurus,
Can anyone explain the difference between Serial Number and Batch Management in breif.
Regards
RaviHi,
Serial number management and batch management are different functions that can be
used in conjunction with each other.
A batch represents a non-reproducible subset
of the total quantity of a material held in stock, which is managed separately from
other subsets of the same material.
For Example Different production lots
(for example, paints, wallpapers, pharmaceutical products), delivery lots or quality
grades of a material.
whereas a serial number is a number that you give to an individual item of material in addition
to the material number, in order to differentiate between this individual piece and all
other items of the material. The combination of material number and serial number
is unique. It is not necessary to use the batch management function to use serial
number management.

RE: Difference between Storage location and warehouse
Hi All,
What is the difference between storage location and warehouse?Hi,
First of all Storage Lcoation is part of Inventory Management.
Warehouse is part of Logistics Execution.
Storage location is part of SAPu2019s enterprise structure that holds the stock quantity
Option: To maintain a single storage bin for every material in every storage location
To simplify: To utilize a storage location as the u201Cstorage facilityu201D means that the materialu2019s actual bin location is not important, or that the material is located in a single bin throughout the storage.
Warehouse is part of SAPu2019s enterprise structure that holds the stock bin location
To simplify: When a warehouse (Warehouse Management) is utilized as a storage facility, a materialu2019s actual bin location is of great importance
Advantage: Track a materialu2019s changing bin location
Warehouse Management has greater applications for use in a storage facility
Disadvantage: More complexity and usually requires more data entry
Hope this helps. -
Difference between SAP SLD and SAP Management console
Hello,
It seems that both System landscape directory and SAP management console have some overlapping features. The services can be started or stopped in both. Is it true? Does anyone know the difference between these 2 and where does Solution manager fit in?
Thanks
ShailikHi,
SAP SLD is the central information provider in a system landscape.this contains both Component information and Landscape description.COMPONENT Info in sense all the sap products and components along with their versions, And also third party products also.LANDSCAPE desc in sense the description of all the systems in particular landscape.
Example:This can shows exact idea for you.Components like CAF,Webdynpo(WD-java),BPM etc info. And the host names,Message server ports etc. Here we dont have start/stop functionality.
SAP MC provides a common framework for centralized system management. It allows you to monitor and perform basic administration tasks on the SAP system centrally, thus simplifying system administration. Using the SAP MC you can
1.Monitor and control (start, stop, or restart) the SAP system and its instances with a single tool
2.Monitor system alerts
3.Display the list of all access points to an SAP system etc.
We can see difference by looking into http://<host name>:<port>/index.html
Look and feel are also differ.
For more info you can go through these links of sap help.

Difference between controlling budgetting and funds management
Hi All,
Can any one please explain me about the differece between controlling budgeting and funds management.
What are the additioanl features available in funds management when compared to budgetting in controllin
Thanks in Advance
RakaHi Raka,
FUNDS MANAGEMENT
The mySAP Public Sector solution plans and controls the flow
of revenues and expenditures, guides you through planning and
creating budgets, and uses active availability control to monitor
management appropriation. Funds management capabilities
simplify the design of budget plans using special planning techniques
and make it possible to differentiate provisional budget
plans. The solution supports centralized and decentralized
planning and budget execution of funds.
Controlling budgets is a headache for businesses of all sizes. Many smaller businesses start off
on the right foot by putting in place a good book-keeping system, but then fail to exercise
proper financial control and end up in trouble. The only way to make sure that you make a
profit is to control the budget efficiently. To do this, you need to estimate your sales income
reasonably accurately, estimate your costs precisely, and keep both under control. You also
need to charge the right price for your end product in your chosen market(s). It is important
systematically to collect all financial documents in a methodical way, and keep all your figures
up to date on a daily basis. This actionlist will look at some of the most common problems in
controlling a budget, and suggest ways to tackle them

What's the difference between Screen Sharing and Remote Management?
As the title asks. What is the difference between the two?
Because heres the thing. I set Screen Sharing on in Sharing. Then a few days later I will go back to the Sharing preferences and instead of Screen Sharing being checked. Remote Management is now checked, not Screen Sharing. What's the deal? Is that normal?
I was wondering if it was because I log into my iMac sometimes using my iPhone with that Mocha VNC program. Its the only program I use to remotely control my computer. Is that it?
Any help I can get is appreciated! Thanks!Remote Management provides support for the additional functionality of Apple Remote Desktop as compared to a standard VNC setup. The options are otherwise identical.

What is the difference between Personnel Administrator and Line Manager?
I understand that Personnel Administrator is responsible for all the master data in Personnel Administration. Who is Line Manager in Recruitment? While administering the vacancies, what is the difference between both of them in Recruitment.
Points assured.Hi Nivedita,
A line manager may be a chief position in OM Structure.
A person who holds a managerial position in a company or department and who makes decisions in an area of responsibility.
Line managers can act as the first person responsible for applicant correspondence.
In the Recruitment workflow, tasks requiring a decision are sent to line managers.

A console port is special for two reasons. First, it's "known" to the system as its console port which means the system will send status information to it, and often treat it special when accepting input. Second, the console port is generally wired as a serial port. (It also normally doesn't have an IP address.)
The console port was intended for where the system operator controls the system from, usually nearby (physically). (Console ports are/were used for any computer based system.)
Management ports are generally for remote management using an Ethernet port. On older switches/routers, a device might be configured to use an ordinary Ethernet port for this purpose. On newer switches/routers, a Ethernet port is provided for this purpose. For these, the device may actually use different hardware for port and might treat it internally differently. For example, often the Ethernet management port is only FE, it may not have ASIC support for high speed switching, and it might be in it's own predefined VRF. Generally, a management port will have an IP address, but different from IP address spaces used by other hosts.
Out-of-the-box, a console port will allow you to configure the device, but a management port will often require some additional configuration. -
What is difference between 32 bit and 64 bit sql server memory management
What is difference between 32 bit and 64 bit sql server memory management
Thanks
ShashikalaThis is the basic difference...check if helps:
A 32-bit CPU running 32-bit software (also known as the x86 platform) is so named because it is based on an architecture that can manipulate values that are up to 32 bits in length. This means that a 32-bit memory pointer can store a value between 0 and
4,294,967,295 to reference a memory address. This equates to a maximum addressable space of 4GB on 32-bit platforms
On the other hand 64-bit limit of 18,446,744,073,709,551,616, this number is so large that in memory/storage terminology it equates to 16 exabytes. You don’t come across that term very often, so to help understand the scale, here is the value converted to
more commonly used measurements: 16 exabytes = 16,777,216 petabytes (16 million PB)➤ 17,179,869,184 terabytes (17 billion TB)➤ 17,592,186,044,416 gigabytes (17 trillion GB)➤
As you can see, it is significantly larger than the 4GB virtual address space usable in 32-bit systems; it’s so large in fact that any hardware capable of using it all is sadly restricted to the realm of science fiction. Because of this, processor manufacturers
decided to only implement a 44-bit address bus, which provides a virtual address space on 64-bit systems of 16TB. This was regarded as being more than enough address space for the foreseeable future and logically it’s split into an 8TB range for user mode
and 8TB for kernel mode. Each 64-bit process running on an x64 platform will be able to address up to 8TB of VAS.

Under Excel Service Application --> session management; what is the difference between Session timeout and Short Session timeout?
Any call made from the API will automatically be set to the “Session Timeout” period, no matter
what. Calls made from EWA (Excel Web Access) will get the “Short Session Timeout” period assigned to it initially.
