Differences between U.S. -European adaptors

I recently bought (September 2010) a MacBook Pro 15" 2.4GHz Intel Core i5 4GB from the U.S. While using it there the battery lasted approximately 8-9 hours. Coming back to Europe (Greece) and charging it here, I noticed that the battery won't last more than 3 hours in every full charge. Can someone let me know if I should get a new adaptor for European voltages? Is the difference in electricity the cause for this difference in battery life?

As far as I know the power adaptors are all the same, the only difference being the plug on the end.
You may want to check and turn off hardware you are not using. On mine I’ve switched off Bluetooth as I don’t use it, turn down the brightness all these helps. My battery now last longer. Also while on battery I use Firefox not Safari as I find Firefox to be more energy efficient.
Try these things it may help you.

  • What are differences between a N95 for European ma...

Hello. I would like to ask you, what are the differences between a N95 for European market and one for Asian? I bought one for Asian and I have an awkward keypad and a dictionary. I`m wondering are there any other differences, like built quality? Should I change mine for an European one? Is it possible to change a keypad for a normal one? Anything other that hasn`t been mentioned? Thank you all, in advance.

there is a dictionary program but you will have to install a dictionary database to use it.
when press and hold the # key, the phone will not switch to silent mode. instead it switches to "line 2".
camera sound cannot be turned off due to policies in asia
as far as i am concern
Hmmm not sure you can alter the dictionaries that come pre installed, the dictionary is there for when you use predictive sms, so it can match the words and u have the option to add words it does not recognise
holding # key on my generic N95 does not does not either of what u described, i think u should research your info, b4 u commit to a post, maybe the odd network that install there own firmware has the option to use the # key to change between line one and 2 and otheres programe it to scroll between silent and general, my handset being generic it does neither of these, so im guessing Nokia did not design this, why would u need the # key to change profiles when u can do this by pressing the power button once

  • IPod touch sound difference between headphone jack v connector?

Is there a volume or output level difference between the earphone jack and the cradle connector?  Seems like lower volume out of the jack
    IPod touch original

    In addition to lllaass's comment...
if your iPod was purchased within the European Union, it will have the EU volume restriction installed on it, which limits the maximum volume from the headphone socket. This is a separate function to the Volume Limit to which lllaass refers. In this case, using the Dock Connector output will be at a higher level than the headphone socket. It must be the Dock Connector output though, not a Line Out from a Docking Cradle.

  • Difference between Tekton and Tekton Pro?

    Hi,
I'm aware that Adobe's "Pro" designation means that the font contains all the necessary glyphs to set European languages. But that's not what I'm asking.
We have a client for whom we're preparing a book. We've been using Tekton Pro (Bold and Regular). We sent a PDF proof to the client and they say that they meant the old Tekton (not Pro--rather, the postscript version). I've tried to compare the two, but it's very difficult online.
My question is: is there a difference in the actual form of the letters between the old Tekton and Tekton Pro?
(In the case of Garamond and Garamond Premier Pro there is a significant difference between the shapes of some letters, for example.)
    Thanks,
    Ariel

    Hi Neil,
As far as I understood, our firm's client's concern was that the font looked
different (reflow not being an issue in this case because it's used for a
    main heading only).
Anyway, I went into the office (a rarity in these days of telecommuting) to
investigate. The outcome is that somehow or other one of the graphics people
managed to switch Tekton for some variant of Times. Good grief! No wonder
the client sounded concerned; I'm impressed that they managed to remain so
    polite about it, actually.
I think you're right about there generally not being a difference between
the PS and Pro versions of Adobe fonts. I would be interested to hear more
    insight into this point.
I seem to have three Adobe Garamond's on the computer. The old Adobe
Garamond PostScript and Adobe Garamond Pro: these two seem identical, and a
full alphabet also sets the same width.
On the other hand, Adobe Garamond Premier Pro seems to be essentially
different, though very similar, font. It sets differently, and unless I'm
imagining things, the x-height is slightly shorter, plus all the strokes
    seem slight thicker.
This adds support to the theory that a regular Adobe PS font is identical to
its Pro namesake except for some added glyphs. Perhaps that is why Adobe
Garamond Premier was actually given a different name.

    Ariel

  • Portege R600 - Difference between cooling options

I have a Portege R600 with Windows 7 installed, but I guess my query is generic to all Porteges regardless of the version of Windows.
Could someone please explain to me what the different "cooling options" in the power settings actually mean? I couldn't find details anywhere.
Does battery optimized mean that the cpu fan gets activated only beyond a certain temperature? And what's the difference between cooling and maximum performance?
Is there any other way to set the cpu fan speed directly?
This is a very important point to me, because the fan of the Portege is terrible, too noisy, to the extent that I am considering return the laptop unless I find a solution. Sometimes it sounds like a Ferrari engine at a billion rpms!
    Thanks!

    This points to:
    which mentions that:
"If the sound of the CPU fan seems too loud, a setting that optimizes battery life will also cause the CPU fan to turn on less frequently."
However, my problem was quite the opposite: optimizing battery life causes the fan to stay off most of the times but to make the noise of a Ferrari engine at max speed when it activates. Optimizing performance, instead, means the fan is almost always on but barely noticeable, and never makes the disturbing Ferrari-like noise.
Maybe it's just me, but that kind of noise prevents me from using the laptop and would have cause me to return it had I not found a solution. I simply think that it's such a big potential problem that a clear solution should have been explained in huge letters, all the more so because the solution is very banal. It might be just my opinion, but judging by reviews and comments on forums, I'd say it isn't.

  • What are the differences between Qosmio X300 and Qosmio X305 ?

According to my understanding X300 European model while X305 is American model and they have different power supplies, and different default regional settings in pre-installed Windows.
    Anything else?
    -Technologov

    Hi
As far as I know there are no more differences between these notebooks.
The X305 is just for the American market and the X300 for the European market and the differences that you already said. Of course the other keyboard layout (depending on the country) too. ;)
The hardware should be the same on both notebooks. For example some models are equipped with two graphic cards (SLI), faster CPUs and so far. Therefore check the specifications on the Toshiba website.
    Bye

2.What is Format Payments (SEPA Unstructured)?
Is (SEPA Unstructured) used with which case?
3.What is the difference between (SEPA Structured) and (SEPA Unstructured)?
    The customer is checking Note.791226.1.
However, he says that he cannot understand these two differences.
    Please teach me.
    Thanks.

From the European Payments Council website:
    Remittance information: structure the unstructured
The SEPA Credit Transfer Scheme permits the end-to-end carrying of remittance data on a structured or unstructured basis appropriate to the nature of the payment (the remittance information usually contains details of the contract underlying the transaction such as an invoice number, for example). The length of the remittance information in the SCT Scheme is fixed at a standard length of 140 characters and banks are obliged to pass on the full remittance information.
The EPC supports a proposal developed by the European Association of Corporate Treasurers (EACT), which allows companies to agree on a structure for the remittance information. The EACT suggestion on how to structure the "unstructured" remittance fields allows companies exchanging a credit transfer to agree, among other, on information to be transmitted in a specific manner. Banks will carry remittance information structured in such an agreed way unaltered throughout the process chain.

  • Hi, can anyone explain the difference between the models A1457 and ME432B/A of the iPone 5s. Thanks

Hi, can anyone explain the difference between the models A1457 and ME432B/A of the iPone 5s.

    Hi Gary,
Model # A1457 designates that it's the European market model, which I believe works on EE, Vodafone and O2 in the UK.
ME432B/A is the part # that, in your case, I believe, desginates a 16GB Space Grey Unlocked version...
Someone can correct me if I'm wrong on that

  • Difference between FM9x-G4-A and FM9i-G4-A adapters

    Hi
Could any one elaborate me on the differences between FM9x-G4-A and FM9i-G4-A adapters and in which situaton do we use these adapters
    Thanks

    Hello,
This is what it states in the readme documentation issued with the adapter:
The standard HFM adaptor and HFM Intercompany adaptor both use the upsFM9xG4A.dll
    FM9i-G4-A.xml - Intercompany Detail adaptor
    FM9x-G4-A.xml - Standard HFM adaptor
You would use FM9i when connecting to the HFM Intercompany Module.
You would use the FM9x when connecting to the standard HFM Module.
    Thank you.

  • Difference between 1.20.01e und 1.20

My question is if there's any difference between these two firmwares.
PS: Everbody who looks in this thread may have another look in my other thread concerning selected music on Zen Micro Photo cause I need help, it's urgent.

The e version is the European version. It has a limit on the maximum volume. Some people complain that they don't get enough volume using the European version on some of the players(not sure if the complaints were about the Microphoto as well). I suggest not using the European version. One should be careful though about playing music too loud, as it might damage your hearing.

  • Qosmio F50-10M - Difference between 32bit and 64bit BIOS

    Hello,
I use WindowsVISTA-32bit SP2, and my BIOS is up to date (2.0 32bit I suppose). What are the differences between 32 oder 64 bit version of the BIOS? What would happen if I flash fw of BIOS to 64bit altough using VISTA32 and vice versa?
I think about changing to a 64bit system (propably Win7 Ultimate OEM or LINUX), does it make sense changing?
    Thank you guys in advance!
    Yours,
    Stamind_1

    > But what would happen if I change my OS from 32 to 64bit without updating the BIOS, or if I change back from 64 to 32 after updating BIOS to 64bit? Do I have to expect difficulties/errors?
Nobody would be able to say what would happen!
Usually you should not notice any serious hardware problems but possibly the notebooks parts like cooling modules, WLan, or other functions like multimedia control buttons would not work as it should.
If there is no other BIOS then you have to use the one which is available on the Toshiba European driver page if there are more BIOS versions for different operating systems then you have to use the one which has been designed for the certain Windows OS.
