Different alerts for email and sms messages for a contact with custom ring tone

Hello,
I have a Curve 8530 with OS 5.0.0.395.
I have my default sound profile set up to play one type of alert sound when I receive and email message and another when I receive an SMS message (so I know the difference without looking at my phone). That works fine except for contacts that I also have a custom ring tone set up for. It seems that under the Custom Ring Tones/Alerts section of the contact there is only one entry for Messages and it applies to both email and SMS. If I have the contact's message alerts set to the alert I have for email, then their SMS messages play the same alert and I might think it's an email. Or if I have the messages alerts set to the SMS alert sound then their emails sound like SMS messages. Is there a way to have a custom ring tone set up for a contact but still allow their emails and SMS messgaes to follow the current sound profile's settings?

Have you had any luck resolving this issue. I had a 8230 and this was possible. But like you I can get the 8530 to work. If you found the solution, please let me know.

I was wondering if it was possible to play different sounds for emails and instant messages. I am using Thunderbird quite often with both emails and instant messages imported from Gtalk.
I think it would be very convenient to be able to distinguish both sounds as they do not imply the same things.

When will the bluetooth support audio alerts for email and text messages? It works when I get a phone call, but I'd like it to work when getting a text message (I do this a lot in noisier areas and would rather not have to look at the phone every few minutes)
Or is there a configuration option I'm missing?

My iPhone just stopped giving me audible notifications for email and text messages. It still rings for calls. I have checked the settings for "Sounds" and they have not changed. However, in these settings when I try to change the sound I get only the vibration and not the sample sound. Can anyone help?

Separate Email and SMS messages not found

Hi Guyz,
I'm just wondering, I can't find any options under messages separating email and SMS messages on my 8100. Would this be a platform issue? My current platform is v4.2.0. Is there a way to download and upgrade a new platform? Or can i just download a theme that has that option...

Go into messages,
Press Menu button,
Scroll to options,
then general options,
scroll down and you will see SMS and Email inboxes: Theme controlled etc, change it to seperate.
If your issue is resolved, put a checkmark in the green box that contains the resolution.

Hi,
Does anyone know of there are any API's to open and read SMS and email messages?
Also, are there any API's to do with turning off the audiable alert upon receipt of SMS and emails.
The final API I am interested is one that makes an audiable alert.
Please could anyone throw any light on what I am after.

look for JSR120 Wireless Messaging API.
This is being done through the JCP Process.

The very simple patch for pre-6_10, when fitted to the equivalent code in 6_10, no longer works!
Obviously the recognition of the containerView options and the extraction of the keys still works, but now, when these get added to the Dn token list (inside the Dn constructor now) they simply leave the MBean tab completely empty. Here is the code that does the work in the constructor:

I do understand that other fixes were needed for refresh etc - but I'm understandably disappointed that what was a simple structure change now seems to require something far more fundamental. Any suggestions on how I can take this forward?

And the problem is:
the method getHashKey in Dn searches for the substring of the value of the input token. The problem is that if any of the overall hash for the Dn contains that substring before the intended token, then the returned hash runs the risk of being a duplicate of another hash, and thus you get a bad insertion.
For me, my overall hash is
name=GtServer_1,type=ServerPool.Server,name=GtServer,type=ServerPool,domain=com.csc.gtmonitor.GtMonitor340so when we want the hash for
name=GtServerwe get the whole thing, rather than what we REALLY wanted, which was just the last part.
Suggestion 1:
Build the token hash keys as the Dn is being built by building up the hashkey string as each token is added. Requires change to Dn and Token so that Token has a hashkey property.
or Suggestion 2:
Change getHashKey to accept the token index and let it build the hash key from that index onward from the token list. Somewhat more expensive in that the hash is built up each time it is requested.
or Suggestion 3:
Change getHashKey to use a regular expression, and a terminating character of ", or end-of-string" on the end of the input token value. Still has a slight risk of trapping a substring that occurs earlier in the Dn hash than intended.
Opinions? (I like suggestion1 best)

IPhone 5 only ringing for contacts with personalized ring tones

I have an iPhone 5 and it only rings for contacts that I've assigned a personal ringtone to. It does not ring for all other contacts with the default ring tone. Also, I have the last iOSX, not the current operating system with improved Siri and all that. I hope one of you beautiful people can assist me. Thanks mates!

Check your Do Not Disturb in Settings and make sure you don't have something enabled there.

Addresses of both Customers & Vendors is stored in ADRC tabbe. ADRC is master table of all Addresses in the system.
From KNA1 take Customer Code & Address field.
From ADRC take list of all address. Here Address Number field is same as Address field in Csutomer Master.
In Excel run Vlookup on above two files with Address & address numbers feilds as common.

Droid Mini notifications for email and text not working

I am having a problem with notification sounds not working for email and text messages with my Droid Mini. I took my original phone to the Verizon shop. They did a factory reset. Sound worked for two days. Went back to Verizon and they reset it again. But they did tell me if it happened again to call Verizon and they would send me a new phone. Well it happened again. Got my new phone just last week. Well yesterday and today the sound notifications for text messages and email is not working on the new phone. Last night I powered the phone off and back on and all was working well until this morning.
This is very upsetting as I really do like this phone. Would like to know what is going on with it. Have checked all the volumes and they are all up.
Is there a fix for this.

For Gmail it is: open Gmail > menu > settings > your gmail address > notifications check box is unchecked.
There are some additional notification options for labels too.

EMail and SMS problem

I just got a Blackberry Pearl. I configured it to receive my email. Now there is an email icon and all the email goes there. BUT it also started going into the folder that was the repository for SMS text messages. So someone told me to go into general options, select SMS and Email inboxes and choose Separate. I did that but wiht the net result that the SMS folder now shows only my email and the Email folder also shows my email.
The only way to get to my SMS inbox is to select the menu options, select View FOlder, then select SMS Inbox which is a little cumbersome.
How do i fix that so my emails go to my email folder and the SMSes go to my SMS folder?
ALso is there a way to prevent the Blackberry from notifying my every time i get a new email. I am fine with being notified when I get a new SMS?

To create seperate folders for email and sms, yes you open any of you message folders and hit the menu key, select options then general options, scroll down to sms and email inboxes, change that to seperate. then hit the back key and select save. You should now have a sms icon for text, an icon for each email and an icon for messages that will catch everything. If you do not have these icons try a battery pull. Remove the battery with the phone on and leave it out for 30 seconds. Replace it and allow the phone 1-3 minutes to reboot. Can you now find all the icons?

Email and SMS and keyboard in landscape mode.

I was wondering if, by any chance Apple is working to enhance the iPhone's email and SMS capabilities by incorporating the use of the accelerometer. This would allow email and sms messages to be viewed in widescreen format making it easier for my older eyes to see. This would also allow email and text messages to be created and sent using a widescreen keyboard making it much easier for my big fumble fingers to use. This would be the one GREATEST enhancement that could be made for the iPhone!
