Different Apple ID on iPhone, iPad

After updating my wife's iPhone to iOS 7, I noticed that the Apple ID on her iPhone was different than the Apple ID on her iPad. I changed the Apple ID on the iPhone and the result of this was the loss of all of her contacts. A. Is there a way to get the contacts back? B. Is there a way to import/export contacts? Thanks for any help.

Have you tried using the old Apple ID again? All of her contacts are synced with iCloud. The account removal will eventually remove the contacts.
You can export the contacts on your Mac registered with the same Apple ID. In Contacts, click All Contacts at the top of the Groups list, select all contacts, then choose File > Export > Export vCard. It will generate a .vfc file that you use to import on the proper account.

If both accounts are authorised on the computer's iTunes that you sync them to, and the relevant apps are on that computer, then you should be able to sync them to both devices. The apps will be tied to the account that originally bought/downloaded them, so only that account will be able to download updates to them.
If you log into the other account on a device and re-download its apps onto them then you risk tying the device to that account for 90 days (and similarly redownloading on a computer's iTunes) : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4627

i downloded music using a different apple id on my ipad then i changed my id on my ipad to match my iphone but it isnt showing my music i bought with my old ipad apple id on icloud. how can i get my music back!?

It won't show on iCloud because iCloud is associated with a specific Apple ID. The music should be on your computer's iTunes and a Sync will put it on the iPad (be sure to configure iTunes properly). If you want to get it from iCloud, I think that you need to temporarily change your ID back to the old one but I've never done that myself.

To check if you have a virus, you can download ClamXav
also, go to Applications>Utilities>Activity Monitor and see if there's anything that you don't recognize, and check your sent email to see if you've been sending emails without your knowledge.

• I have same Apple ID for iPhone iPad and my daughters iPod and iPad mini. Can I obtain another iCloud account for her without changing her Apple ID. She had a iCloud account on old iPod bit can't retrieve it.

Me and my daughter have same Apple ID for my iPhone iPad and her iPod and iPad mini. Is there any way to get an iCloud account for her devices without changing her Apple ID. She has an old iCloud account from older iPod but can't activate it or remember her old iCloud account.
Thanks

You have to use a different Apple ID to create a new iCloud account (each ID can only be used with a single account). You don't have to use the ID for anything else though, she can continue to use her current ID for other services such as iTunes, iMessage, FaceTime, etc.
The only limitation is that each device can only create three iCloud accounts.

• Can we use 2 different apple accounts on one iPad?

We have just bought an iPad and both already have iPhones. We are currently trying to set up our iPad but can only seem to have one ID in. Is there a way of logging in and out of the two different accounts on the one iPad?
Any help would be appreciated! :)

Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can only have one primary account on the iPad, logging in and out is possible but a bit of a nightmare.
If it's just mail calendars and contacts you want to sync with for both accounts, you can add a secondary account in settings > mail, contacts & calendars.

• WSJ: Apple to Bring iPhone, iPad Features to Mac

CUPERTINO, Calif.—Apple Inc. Chief Executive Tim Cook wants to make its Mac more like an iPhone.
In an interview at the company's headquarters here, Mr. Cook unveiled a new version of the company's Macintosh operating system that incorporates several features from the software that powers Apple's hit mobile devices. They include Apple's messaging service, notifications app, gaming center, sharing features and integration with the company's online service iCloud—all pioneered for the iPad and iPhone, which use the software known as iOS.
Named "Mountain Lion," the new version of Mac OS X is the clearest sign yet of Apple's belief that the mobile, laptop and desktop world are destined to converge—and that Apple wants to be a catalyst.
"We see that people are in love with a lot of apps and functionality here," said Mr. Cook, 51 years old, pointing at his iPhone. "Anywhere where that makes sense, we are going to move that over to Mac."
Mr. Cook said Apple will make an early version of the software available to developers Thursday and will start selling it to customers in late summer.
Apple's moves come as fiercer competition among hardware makers is leading them to compete over software and giving consumers a familiar experience across various devices. That is leading to a convergence between different categories of devices that could have wide ramifications across the technology industry.
Mr. Cook said he already thinks of Apple's iOS and OS X operating systems "as one with incremental functionality." He said both laptops and tablets will continue to coexist, but he didn't rule out that the technologies could converge further. When asked if Apples iPhones, iPads and Macs might run the same microprocessor chips, he said: "We think about everything. We don't close things off."
Apple's Mac OS X team had already started borrowing from iOS, last July releasing the "Lion" version of its operating system that adopted iOS features like advanced gesture controls—by touching the Mac's track pad, rather than a display screen—and the ability to view desktop apps as icons in an iPhone-like grid.
Now, Apple is going much further, even changing the names of internally developed Mac apps to those of iPhone counterparts. The Mac's Address Book, for example, will become Contacts. iCal will become Calendar.
"We took a logical pass at what the user is going to experience using these products to make it all make sense," said Phil Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of world-wide marketing, in a separate interview. "This is more than people expect."
With Mountain Lion, users will see the same notification screen that scrolls down on the iPhone by swiping their touchpads. The new software has deeper ties to other Apple products, such as iCloud, which Apple is integrating into applications and into the experience of registering a new Mac. A new security feature called gatekeeper allows users to specify what apps kinds of apps can be installed on their computers, including an option to only install apps from Apple's Mac App store.
The new Mac software will also support a feature called AirPlay Mirroring that allows users to view what is on the screen of their iPhone or iPad and a television screen connected to an Apple TV. The technology is highly strategic for Apple, as it contemplates new video technologies for the living room. AirPlay, already available for the iPhone and iPad, has run into opposition from media companies worried about cannibalizing of traditional TV. Mr. Schiller says he doesn't believe media companies will have any issue with customers using it from their Macs.
Mountain Lion comes as Mac has momentum but still very little share.
Apple sold a record 5.2 million Macs in the quarter ending in December, up 26% from the same quarter in 2010. But Macs represented just 5.4% of global PC shipments in the fourth quarter, according to IDC, up from 4.5% during the same period in 2010.
It has been a relatively small contributor to the company's record financial performance. As the company's revenue jumped 73% in the quarter ending in December, the percentage of its revenue from Macs fell from 20.3% to 14.2%.
Mr. Cook says the Mac remains an "incredibly important" part of the company and that it is already benefiting from the success of the iPhone, particularly in China, where Mac sales doubled last year. "They know about Apple and what Apple stands for," he says. "Then they search out and look for the Mac."
While Apple banks on that halo effect, its competitors are trying to follow its approach. Microsoft Corp. is releasing a new version of its Windows operating system that has a new interface that supports touch-based commands and resembles its mobile phone software.
"I don't really think anything Microsoft does puts pressure on Apple," says Mr. Cook, who said Apple is focused on building the best product and the pressure on the company is "self-induced."
Mr. Cook declined to comment on future plans for Mac hardware. But he expressed pride in the company's MacBook Air laptop. "The industry at large is trying to copy it in some way, but they will find that it is not so easy," he said.

• Apple TV and iPhones/iPads no longer connecting

Good morning,
Probably going to pretty lengthly here but we have been having some major issues here.
Since September we have been having issues with our iPhones, iPads, along with our apple tvs not connecting and syncing up.
At the time we blamed it on AT&T selling out to Frontier in our area but now we are in February and still having issues.
We have a wireless network in the house that we had for 5 years prior to Frontier taking over, when issues began to arise of air play not working, not being able to use home sharing as it could not locate our iMac, or loading times always timing out, we contacted Frontier many times they even sent a tech out but everything proved fine.
At the time everything in our house was wireless and we would loose connection to the internet when surfing or doing homework on any device we were using. I ended up hard wiring my desktop and Mac Mini and have not had any issues since.
We figured since the router we were using was about 6 to 7 years old we would up grade to a new one and maybe that would get rid of the problem. So I purchased the Linksys AC1900. set it up the same way as the old one an off we went. Everything worked fine for a day or two and then right back to nothing working.
Again called frontier and techs came out and we checked everything and nothing was interfering or not functioning properly. I have even ended up hard wiring a few of the apple tvs, but again same time out issues or no connectivity.
Everything is running on the latest software.
We are now at the point of thinking it is apple that is our issue, We do not have any windows computers or devices to test this theory on but a lot of news going around stating apple is having many issues with wifi and connectivity issues.
I did not want to contact apple just yet as I have spent enough time on the phone with people trying to figure this issue out.
If anyone is able to give me a hand it would be greatly appreciated.

Hello JefferyPNichols,
It sounds likeyou are unable to either use Home Sharing between your devices or Airplay. If the former, I would recommend you use this article to help you troubleshoot the issue:

If you are talking about Airplay instead, use this article for iOS devices:

• How come I have 2 different Apple Store Apps on iPad mini?

i Noticed that for some reason I have 2 different Apple Store apps on my iPad mini. I think this may have somehow happened when I upgraded to iOS 8.3.
One has has image of shopping cart the other has image of I guess a shopping bag. Not sure why the newer one didn't just replace the older one.
I Guess the one w the shopping bag is the newer one & it looks like it only retained orders for the last 18 mo, saying I have none.
I Wasn't wxpecting that it would lose the prior history, including purchase info for this iPad mini & my MacBookPro.
THe one w the shopping cart image seems to just refer to the newer 1 asking to go there. Don't see any other options. Confused by this.
IOs 8.3

TTry re-reading my post. Apparently the one showing the shopping cart is the old Apple Store app.
Both of them I was asking about say Apple store--not App Store. TThat is a separate app.
& Actually in the past, when there was an Apple Store more conveniently located to where I lived, I was able to use the Apple Store app to make in-store purchases at the brick & mortar Apple Store.
i Never tried using it for online purchases. But in CA there were 2 Apple stores w in about 15 min drive of where I lived. Not so in the Portland, OR area. Well, downtown might be 15 min away & then expensive parking or taking public transportation.
this seems to have happened when I upgraded to iOS 8.3.

• How do I use a different apple id on my ipad or other device?

I want to use a different Apple ID. How do I change it?

You can tap on the currently logged in id in Settings > Store (Settings > iTunes & App Stores on iOS 6) and then log in with a different account (any currently downloaded/synced content will remain tied to that account). But if you turn on automatic downloads for an account or download its past purchases then you may tie that device or computer to that account for 90 days : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4627

• The behavior of the emergent forms of the software in RD Web App is different in Mac and iPhone-iPad, they appear and disappear intermittently. (Remote Desktop Services - Azure).

In Mac the forms are not integrated as one window, they appear and disappear intermittently. There is no option to configure it. In the iPhone-iPad RDP app, there is no problem with
that, when some form gets focus the other forms remain stable. Do you have any suggestions?

Hi David,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
What happens when you perform Remote Desktop to any server from MRD MAC?
Did you find everything working normally?
If you re RDPing then there is manual configuration available, URI scheme which you can try as beneath,
Remote Desktop Client URI Scheme Support
For RD Web app, did you get any error\log for your issue? If yes, then please specify for further troubleshooting.
Hope it helps!

• How to use differing 'My Info' on iPhone/iPad

Hi everyone,
I am using an iPhone and my wife an iPad. Both devices are set up using the same Apple ID in order to easily share App Store purchases and for iCloud as well. In Settings.app under Mail, Contacts, Calendars you can tell the device who you are by selecting your contact info under My Info. So I did select mine on the iPhone and my wife’s contact on the iPad. So far so good. But sometimes, and I haven’t quite found out how and why, this Info automatically changes!
It is always the last edited setting which propagates to the other device. So for example, if I set my info on the iPhone and afterwards my wife’s on the iPad I well end up with her info on my iPhone as well. It happens the other way around, too. I haven’t yet figured out how this happens. So it could be over the air or while syncing via USB which I sometimes do for faster device backups. It could also happen when using a specific app or service.
Maybe someone can shed some light on this? I’m sure that I could just use separate Apple IDs on both devices, but I’d rather not. Everything works and is easier to handle. Even FaceTime and iMessage support different Caller IDs when using the same Apple ID. So it’s only this little thing that’s left…
Thanks and hoping for a solution
Björn

Easy, no need to be harsh. I might not be a Level 9  Discussions user, but I’ve been an Apple Technician for more than a decade now. So believe me, I know what I’m talking about. Be it OS X Server or emptying the Trash. But even I come here from time to time to learn from others. Well, back to topic and being a little more specific:
The 'My Info' setting always belongs to the first iCloud account you add to an iOS device. In this account you create at least 1 contact, the one you will be using for 'My Info'. You then do the same on your other iOS device using NOT the same iCloud account, of course. You only need to enable contacts syncing in iCloud preferences for these primary accounts. From here on you can use differing 'My Info' on your 2 iOS devices without a problem.
But you may know that you can use more than one iCloud account at a time. Only the primary one will offer all iCloud options like Photostream. But what they all offer is contacts, calendars, etc. So if you intend (and I did) to share these 2 between your devices you can add them using a second iCloud account to both of your iOS devices. This makes it 3 accounts all in all. You could even go further and add another one just for 'Find my iPhone' if you like.
I would’ve used the built-in sharing of Calendar.app instead, but Contacts.app does not (yet) offer sharing contacts with others. That’s why I went with the third iCloud account as a secondary account to both iOS devices.
Apple of course recommends using just one Apple ID for everything to make it easier. But in some scenarios this just won’t cut it, which is even described in one of their support documents.
I hope that now you have an idea what I’ve done…
Good night
Björn
PS: It would be nice if people did not insist on being right. They too can sometimes learn something!
