Different machines different looks?

situation is:
i have been editing a project on a MacBookPro for a while. all previews stored with the project on an external drive.
i set up a new iMac machine (27'' Retina) and pick up the project where it's left.
project opens up. previews are loaded and everything looks just right.
clips having color correction effects (third party and premiere's own effects) but as soon as anything needs to be rendered again for any reason (line turns red from green), the look changes completely (goes way darker).
investigating onwards, i found out that indeed, when exporting from timeline (not using previews), this dark look is what comes out in the exports.
so in a way i'm relaxed because i know - what i see is what i get, then again what does it all mean? does it make any sense?

There's alot more to it, honestly. This particular issue is
related to the
width of the container in which all of those tabs are placed,
and the
aggregate widths of the tabs within that container. When the
text is
resized, the container is now too narrow to contain all of
the tabs, so the
newsletter one breaks to the next line.
That's life on the web. Can you do anything about it? Use
graphics for the
tabs would be one way to manage that.

  • How to show different Look & Feel to different users?

    Hi,
how to show different Look & Feel to different users?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Venu--

If you want the user to select then LookAndFeel then Visitor Tools.
If you want to use code and dynamically change it then http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13155_01/wlp/docs103/javadoc/index.html?com/bea/netuix/laf/PortalLookAndFeel.html
if you have only a few combinations then you could even create different desktops and direct the user to the appropriate url

Is there place in Aperture where a photo can be given  a different look, like a painted canvas, cartoon look, or other effects?

Only by sending the photo to an external editor or using a plug-in, like Toonit (see ToonIt! For Aperture (Digital Anarchy)).
The effects in Aperture (see the are very basic. Some simple effects Quartz Filter effects can be added by using Automator services, see my user tip here:

For example, using the ColorPencil effect:

  • Different look in brightness and contrast in Color as in FCP

    Hello,
I've got a problem since the last pro applications update. Since then my clips got a different look in brightness and contrast in color as in FCP.
If I send a clip from FCP to color, it looks more dark with higher contrast. If I send it back to FCP you can see the made changes, but the brightness is higher and contast lower again. And I mean a huge differnce between the both programs.
Before, it was like identical. So, in the moment, it is difficult to make exact changes and the worklow is not so efficent anymore.
Has anyone the same problems or an idea to solve the problem?

That tech note specifically discusses how FCP's assumption about RGB files forces it to handle their gamma differently than "YUV" based file formats.
    Relevant bit:
Final Cut Pro assumes that QuickTime movies for codecs that support the YUV color space (including DV, DVCPRO 50, and the 8- and 10-bit Uncompressed 4:2:2 codecs) are created with a gamma of 2.2. This is generally true of movies captured from both NTSC and PAL sources. When you eventually output the sequence to video, or render it as a QuickTime movie, the gamma of the output is identical to that of the original, unless you've added color correction filters of your own.
*However, during playback on your computer's monitor, Final Cut Pro automatically lowers the gamma of a sequence playing in the Canvas to 1.8 for display purposes. This is to approximate the way it will look when displayed on a broadcast monitor. This onscreen compensation does not change the actual gamma of the clips in your sequence.*
So what's displayed in the Canvas is an approximation of the "correct" gamma and relies on many assumptions about the media that may not be accurate.

My new iMac has recently had OSX Lion installed on it and now when I start the machine it looks like its updating something every time, and the wireless doesn't work. So I restart and everything is OK - until I have to start up again the next time - then I have to repeat this again! Any help appreciated.

I've been having the same issue, but have just discovered something on my own that hasn't been pointed out in any of the forums I've visited.  In what I thought would be a vain attempt to help myself, I went to System Preferences, Users & Groups, and then clicked on Login Items.  I discovered that one of the Items that was listed to open automatically upon login was iTunes Helper and that there was an exclamation point beside it indicating that it was incompatible.  I simply deleted that item and now I don't have the situation you described and my wireless is connected.  Hope this helps!

  • Tabbed Panel - Multiple w/ Rollovers & Different Looks

    Hi again and Happy Monday!
So in my quest to bring better functionality and spiffiness to my company's intranet site I have yet again found a new and nerve racking problem.
    Here goes:
Adding in multiple Spry Tabbed Panels.
If I make them on a new clean page they show up just fine....until you attempt to add in rollover functionality.
Example: Panel Alpha and Panel Beta
Panel Alpha has the rollover script "onmouseover="TabbedPanels1.showPanel(this);" in the tabs so that the user doesn't need to click to make the navigation appear.
    Panel Beta does not
When you rollover a piece in Panel Alpha the entire content block of Panel Beta disappears and the content in Panel Alpha does not show up.

Okay now that the already made build page or template:
I already have a template built using the Panel Alpha as the main navigation (with the rollover functionality and it works) and Panel Beta needs to be an optional region in the template as not all pages will display it.
Wouldn't you know it....Beta Panel doesn't work at all on the exisiting template page(have not made it an optional region just an editable while it's being built). I have instered a clean Tabbed Panel spry with it's own id and different CSS rules. All it does is show all the content in a UL and you can't click on it (which is the default behavior and believe me adding the rollover doesn't work either) to show a selected tag nor change the content. It just won't work.

    </body>
    </html>
    So basically I need this:
A template page with 2 Tabbed Panels, each in a different spot with it's own look and both panels must work with the rollover functionality to display content.
Note: No .js file was hurt or tampered with in the pursuit of making this happen.
Please note I cannot link to a live page as it's on the intranet servers and cannot be made visible to the outside world.
I work on CS4 and the company will only allow IE 6 or 8 on the machines and really hope that there is a solution to this...I mean I have a plan B but would really like to use the tabbed panel on the side to get rid of using additional tables on the pages (I'm moving the pages away from tabled design and into tableless CSS)
Also as a premptive question...will the Tabbed Panels conflict with an accordian spry object (which I'll need to add to make a 3rd level navigation and at some point most likely need multiple accordian objects on a page)?
Okay guys and gals...have at it!
    Thanks and love.

    You answered that one beautifully!
Now I just need this one answered ^_^

  • Text has different look from one text box to the next on same page issue

    Hi,
I'm in the process of creating a new site that contains quite a bit of text from a book I wrote. I've taken the text from the original source, put it into text editor and made it into plain text. From there, I've pasted it into the iWeb text boxes and adjusted the text look (font is Arial, justified alignment). When viewing it in IE (probably others?), one block of text looks different than others.
    http://www.goaheadtakethewheel.com/Test13.html
I've verified that the font size and other options are all the same on iWeb. For the life of me I can't seem to figure this out. The only way I can think of possibly resolving this is to re-type each section from scratch. Given that there are about 75 wordy pages...UGGGG!
Any suggestions or ideas? Thanks for your time and help!!
    Dave Gran

You could first try deleting your iweb preference file <com.apple.iWeb.plist> it is in your Library/preference folder.
To create a new domain file, first save your current file in a safe place, such as an external hard drive, burn to a CD, etc. By default it is in your User/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder. All your work is in this file, keep it safely backed up, if you lose this file you lose all your work, you can't restore from the published web site. When you get this file saved safely off your computer and open iWeb it will create a new empty domain. Once you have the new file created you can bring the old file back to the computer. You can put them side by side in any folder (give them different names so one won't replace the other) At this point you can double click the domain file itself to open iWeb. You could try cut and paste between the two domains. I'm not sure this will solve the problem but you could try it on one page, publish to a local folder and see if it helps. Sounds like a lot of work.
Which ever domain file was last used is the one iWeb will subsequently open unless you double click the actual domain file to open iWeb. Be careful and good luck.

  • CMYK value "very" different look

I hope somebody here has an answer for me in this matter, because i am close to getting crazy.
I always use AdobeKULER for getting the values of RGB, CMYK and HEX for my logo designs made in AI.
Usually, i design a Logo in RGB first and convert it then as well into CMYK colors, using the values i get with KULER.
The CMYK color version of a design when viewed on my monitor normally look lighter (less dark) than the RGB version, but this time it is much darker.
I am trying to figure out where the problem is, but till yet i found no solution.
The RGB value in question is:   0  216  235
The CMYK value KULER shows is:  100  8  0  8
really hope, somebody can help me with this.
    Thanks in advance,
    Peter

    Hey Peter,
Here are thoughts, so I created a new swatch in Illustrator CS5 with the RGB values of 0 216 235 in an RGB document and then converted that document to CMYK. The resulting CMYK values ended up being 61 0 13 0 versus the 100 8 0 8 which Kuler showed. So this tells me that the RGB conversions on the Kuler webpage use a different formula for doing the conversion versus what is done in Illustrator. Based on my experience, its not uncommon to see color shifts for colors which look slightly darker or washed out with this kind of conversion, because of the differences in gamuts between the two color spaces. For colors that fall outside of the gamut of one space, the closest equivilent in the other may vary based on the formula used. Different conversions aim for accuracy in different ways, closest match for tonal value, closest match for saturation, etc.
see sRGB versus CMYK in the following image
    http://www.waleedsgallery.biz/_forumuploads/colorspaces.gif
I guess the question I would have for you is what are you doing with the logos you create, are they used for webpages, commercial printing or both? I would probably start with the color space related related to your output and be aware that shifts with conversions are expected. If you are printing these yourself on a home printer just working in RGB and letting the printer driver do the conversion often gives good results as the driver knows the specifics of that piece of hardware and its capabilities.
    Hope that helps,
    -Dave

  • No outgoing mail + different look

I have two problems with MAIL and Snow Leopard.
    1. It does not look the same and have some difference since I firewired my old stuff from the old computer (10.4.11 system) than it did when I first looked at it? Not a real problem, I just wonder why.
    2. I installed a new router, D-link 524UP to get a USB-printer into the network as my old printer, ethernet HP LaserJet2100 refuses to work in the network (or at all with 10.6).
Now Mail refuses to send any mails. I have tried every different set up that my suppliers (domain handler has suggested) but to no avail. They all work with Eudora 6.2! Why not with Mail? Any clues.

Do not ask me how, but suddenly it works again. I do not know how, but gratefully accepts it.

  • Different look in DNG PE and ACR why??

    Hello,
I've tried recently to match ACR with my favourite settings from Nikon Capture and I cannot understand how tone curve ajustment works. When I set tone curve in DNG PE to best look (as in CNX2), and then load this profile into ACR my photo looks completely differently (it's much darker). I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but in ACR highlights are much more compressed than in DNG PE. All sliders in ACR are set to zero and so are tone curves. Please look at below thumbnails to see the difference - it's "Camera normal" profile, but it perfectly shows what I'm talking about.

I had this also with Lightroom and found the following.
The profile editor takes the DNG file and applies brightness and contrast to it. Unfortunately this is not shown or noted anywhere.
Then you can change the curves and co. and save the profile.
If I now use that profile in LR, I assume ARC does the same, I have to allow them to do the same adjustments as PE with brightness and contast to fit what I have seen in PE.
I have also seen that this is the case for my Canon RAW/CR2 files using the Adobe provided camera profile. Profile is used but brightness and contrast are up as described.
    Regards
    Peter

  • Export from Muse results in differently looking standard sizes

Muse exports the different pages of a Website with fixed Layout into different kinds of sizes. This means, the 100% look in a browser (firefox, ie or chrome) is scaled differently. How can I regulate this in muse to get the same standard size on every page? Thanks for advise!

  • Different look of button in jtree or jtable (windows/linux)

    Hi.
I have jbutton on jtree(in jtable is the same problem) it looks like this on linux: http://mikel.pl/button.jpg .
On windows eveyrthink is ok. I tried to set RaisedBevelBorder but in this case on windows button looks awful. Is any trick to get the same look of button without checking what system is running?

Yes and no. Linux and Windows use different LookAndFeels by default, meaning the buttons are painted differently. Just setting the same border will not do in this case. The only way of having the application look exactly the same on both platforms is to manually set a LookAndFeel available on both systems. This should be the case for the MetalLookAndFeel, the SynthLookAndFeel and, I believe, for the Linux LookAndFeels as well.

We have a JTable with JTableHeader. If we set look to Windows classic both header and data are aligned correctly but if we use Windows XP the header and data get misaligned .
How can this be fixed so it works for bot classic and XP.

Why do you keep asking the same question over and over again in different threads? The source for WindowsTableHeaderUI is available, and if it has a bug, you'll have to extend this delegate and provide a fix.

Not in the real world, no. The best app would be a graphics
    editor, whether
it be Microsoft Paint, Photoshop Elements, Fireworks,
    Photoshop, Xara, etc.
Make the button graphics in your graphics editor, and place
    them on the page
    in DW.
