Difficulty to migrating 10.6.8 server account database to Yosemite with Server 4.0.3

To Whom it may concerned:
I've recently tried to migrate the database of 900 students account which created in Account Manager under 10.6.8 server to Yosemite with Server App version 4.0.3. I've successfully activate all the necessary service components ( AFP, DNS...etc ). I can also see all the users and groups in profile manager but I have NO access of the any of the account. Unfortunately, I'm NOT trained under Apple Server Support Profassional and please forgive me if I'm sounded like I don't know what I'm talking about. Thanks for any advice and support anybody can spare me.

  • Cube Databases Are Deleted with Server Reboot

We have deployed two small cubes in our SQL 2012 SSAS environment running on Windows Server 2012.  Every time the server is rebooted, the cube databases are deleted.  The database files deleted are in the default directory.  We have added
exclusions for these directories in the AV software running on the server.  We even added NetStop commands to stop the SSAS, SQL Agent and SQL Server services before the reboot occurs to make sure SQL Server is stopped before reboot.  Has anyone
encountered this?  If so, do you have a fix for this issue?
Thanks in advance for your assistance.

    Hi Jbud55,
In your description, you said that the SQL Server Analysis Services cubes were deleted after the server reboot, right? We cannot reproduce this issue in our local environment. In order to narrow down this issue, please apply the latest Cumulative Update
    and Services Pack.
Besides, does this issue occur when you restart the services manually? As per my understanding, the issue can be caused by the server reboot. Are there any error message on the log? Under C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSAS11.\OLAP\Log (this could
be different for your server), there are 3 log files that are generated:
    msmdrrv.log
    FlightRecorderCurrent.trc
    FightRecorderBack.trc
The msmdrrv.log simply points to the other two logs. There might be some detail information for this error.

  • REMOTE SERVER  MYSQL  DATABASE  CONNECTION THROUGH PROXY SERVER

I want to connect to remote server through my proxy server, I have done all required parameter but the Exception is comming as follows :-
Exception while connecting to database: java.sql.SQLException: Unable to connect to any hosts due to exception:java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect
    Please help

To clarify, if it helps, I have a database of event dates and and details which I wish to query in order to show the most imminent event on one page, and to display all forthcoming events on another.
I would be happy to delve into whatever package is required to achieve this, but would prefer not to go down a whole set of blind alleys to get where I am going.
If the recommendation is to find and install the original extensions, then great, but I don't have them in my Dreamweaver CC package. If there is a better, more up to date option then great; I am guessing/hoping that Adobe would not have taken one method away if there wasn't a better alternative.
A push in the right direction would be most appreciated.

  • Yosemite OSX Server 4, pushed printers show as 'not connected'

I am using a Mac Mini on Yosemite with Server 4 primarily as a profile server.  It's pushing out two printers to clients, both Ricoh MP 3503's with the latest drivers.  Clients receiving the printers from the profile server get "Printer not connected" when printing to them.  When you add the printer locally, either by IP or as a managed printer on the server, clients can print just fine.
The printers and server are in the same subnet but clients are in another.  You can discover the printers through the Mac Mini server, or by adding them by IP and again, printing is just fine.  If the printer is added through the profile server, you get 'Printer not connected", something about adding them from the client vs. pushed through a profile is affecting whether or not the client can see the printer.
I've tried resetting the printer system locally and on the server, verifying reachability between the client and printers, adjusting the domain on the printers so they're in the same domain as the clients.

    A lot to check for!
All my users are "Local Network Users" setup in what is now Server 4.03 (as of a few days ago), not Local Users.
Ours are Local Users - but I would argue strongly against this being a factor.
My usergroup is also a "Local Network Group", not a Local Group.
Ours are Local User Groups - but I would argue strongly against this being a factor.
I believe you can print from your server as your clients can when the server is sharing - but just to ask, can you print from the server?
You are correct.  I can print directly to the printer, or I can print through/on the server without any problems.  Yes, I can print from the server.  Both as a client that's added the server's shared printer or as a local user on the server.
Under Sharing menu in System Preferences on the Server, is Printer Sharing OFF (it is off for me).
No, it is on.  Presently, the server is sharing out the printers for discovery because clients are in a different subnet.  They cannot discover the printers on their own.  The printer has an IP in both the printer subnet and the client subnet.
We use the Mac Server for DNS and DHCP, so that printer is statically assigned on the server, just sayin'.
With all I've heard about DNS, I was thinking hard on this but I don't think it's a factor.  We use a Windows 2012 server for DHCP and DNS.
Take a look at this screenshot below - it is of my Profile Manager where that printer "Fiery" works fine passing to the clients.
    Yes, what about it?
Could it be a router port problem? On our router, an Airport Extreme, we have opened up Printer Sharing ports, see screenshot below.
No, because we don't segment our network.  I can add the printer directly to my client machine and print to it without issue - I just can't discover it because I'm in a different subnet then the printer.  The server acts as an intermediary, I can discover the server's shared printers because the server is in the same subnet as me.
On my Printer Options - I will open a thread, it is just that you had some experience and I wanted to hear about it and I may not have under another thread (you would have no reason to have looked for it). Anyway, I will open a thread, thanks for letting me know your experience with "Options"!
I appreciate it!  I'm just trying to keep a convoluted problem as clear as possible.  I am nearly positive your issue has to do with the printer driver you have installed on the server.  The clients get the driver from the server, we used to have ours show up as 'generic printer', but then downloaded a different type of driver, PS is generic, PCL6 showed up as specific.

  • Migrating current mobile user accounts from one OS X Server to another

I have not been able to find ANY answers to my situlaton.
I have a small office that currently has a Mac Server 10.4.11 server running that has many "mobile user" accounts setup.  This was done because we have so many mobile users coming in and out of the office.  When the user comes back they sync their home directory witht th server here.  Works great.
We recently purchased a new Mac Server running 10.7.4.  Set it up as the Open Directory Master.  I unbind from the old server and bind to the new server.  Everything seems to be working just fine except when I go and add a current mobile user to the new server it creates a new user account on the client device (MacBooks) as if the previous user settings didn't exsist.  Since they need to be mobile users and not just network users I haven't been able to find a solution to this problem any where.
Is there a way on the client to tell it to use the old user account stored on the MacBook to use with new mobile user connected to the new server?
Or is there an easier way of doing this that I don't know about?
    Thanks,
    TK

If I understand what you wrote, no.  The reason is this.  If memory serves...  In 10.4.11 accounts were assigned a UID.  In 10.7.x, accounts are assigned a UID and a GUID.  Most everything relies on the GUID at this point.  So, what you have is an account named marysue on the workstation and it is assigned a UID like 1045.  Now you created marysue on the Lion server, but you likely did not recreate the UID to match the old server.  And thus, the UID value is different but more importantly you now have a GUID value like EC0F9357-8EF2-4D3B-B6F3-2E3016400114, that is associated with the account.  So, the user, despite having the same shortname, is different.
In addition, you are working with two different directory systems.  10.4 still used NetInfo (ah, I miss you so).  10.5 and above use DS local flat files, even when bound to an LDAP system.
So, probably the easiest way to do this, provided I understand what you are seeing is the following.  Let's assume the following:
You have a mobile account on a workstation for the user maryjoe with a UID of 1034 that came from the 10.4.11 system.  You have this account cached.  You have a home folder in /Users/maryjoe.  You have now bound to the new server which contains a user named maryjoe likely with a UID of something other than 1034 and with a GUID value that likely did not exist in the old directory system, also with the shortname of maryjoe and a home path of /Users/maryjoe.
So when you log in, you are likely being pathed to /Users/maryjoe, but you are seeing a default Dock and no documents because of permissions.  My guess is that if you used Terminal to view the Users directory you would see something like this (open Terminal and issue the command ls -l /Users/:
    drwxrwxrwt   4 root       wheel  136 Apr 18 21:35 Shared
    drwxr-xr-x+ 14 locadmin  staff  476 Jan 21 7:42 locadmin
    drwxr-xr-x+ 14 1034  staff  476 Mar 21 10:42 maryjoe
Note the folder maryjoe is not owned by maryjoe, it is owned by the UID of maryjoe from the old server.
Ok, so long story short (sorry for the log explanation, especially if you are experiencing something else that I did not get from the post), all you need to do is update the permissions of the home folder.  Do this:
1:  Log in as the local admin
    2:  Open Terminal
    3:  Issue this command:
         sudo chown -R maryjoe /Users/maryjoe
Even with a lot of data in the home folder, this should not take more than a few minutes to complete.
When the command completes, run this command again:  ls -l /Users/
    You should now see
    drwxrwxrwt   4 root       wheel  136 Apr 18 21:35 Shared
    drwxr-xr-x+ 14 locadmin  staff  476 Jan 21 7:42 locadmin
    drwxr-xr-x+ 14 maryjoe  staff  476 Mar 21 10:42 maryjoe
Now try logging in as the user.  With a little luck I divined the issue and this will have you up and running.  Now, I normally will also purge the cached account in /var/db/dslocal/nodes/Default/users/ but that might be a bit daunting.  So let's start with the simple process first of ensuring home folder permissions are correct.

  • Migrate my Suse Linux users account  to mac os x moutain lion?

Can someone tell me how to migrate my Suse Linux user accounts, including mail, to mac os x moutain lion?

You need write a script to map your /etc/passwd database to the values in MacOS. Use the dscl command like here: http://www.deadmarshes.com/Blog/20111105010130.html or here: http://hintsforums.macworld.com/showthread.php?t=141798
You can't take the /etc/shadow, because MacOS encrypts the passwords other than Linux.
Your users need to change their password:
    - via Webinterface from Mountain Lion
    - or via Server.app
    - or on a linux client using the OpenDirectory (LDAP) from ML
Each mail user needs to belong to the group com.apple.access_mail. You can configure with ML-tools any forwards. Tools: Server.app (Appstore), WorkGroupManager (http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1567)
I'm migrated/migrating my users from Solaris LDAP. I'm using this technology.
Migrating the Mail system is an other task.

  • Using Mac Mail to view Exchange server account

So my iPhone 3GS has no difficulty syncing e-mails, contacts, calendars from my workplace exchange server, but I can't sync these same workplace e-mails, contacts, etc... with Mac Mail on my home computer. My computer apparently can't recognize the exchange server account, and the IT guy at work says that you can only sync phones to our work server, not home computers. Does that make sense? Or am i just not setting up Mac Mail properly (something like changing the Port #?). I guess I just don't understand how phones can sync but computers can't...
Any help would be much appreciated.

In the world of Microsoft Exchange, that makes sense. iPhones use a network technology called Active Sync, which is designed for mobile devices. Mail uses Exchange Web Services which has more functionality.
If your Exchange server supports a third technology called IMAP, then you can configure Mail to use that instead of EWS.

  • How can synchronized local imap folders be migrated to a new computer, without new download from imap server, so that everything is working as before?

How can synchronized local imap folders be migrated to a new computer, without new download from imap server, so that everything is working as before?
I only managed to import synchronized folders (from old computer) to local folders in thunderbird at the new computer. Then I tried to move the messages to the folder of the imap account at the new computer where I temporarily limited the synchronization to one month. When I remove this limit the thunderbird program starts to redownload all the messages again nonetheless.
Since I have a dual boot system (Windows/Linux, thunderbird is installed twice) and have to pay for every megabyte, this is very annoying.

Have you considered using a shared profile folder for the dual boot? so the two remain in sync?v It will require a drive both operating systems can access, but most people who dual boot have such. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Moving_your_profile_folder_-_Thunderbird
otherwise copy the entire profile, not parts of it.

  • Can't add OS X Server Accounts On Client

    Hi Everyone,
I am working through a migration issue on my server. I have corrected permission issues related to mail services, and everything is great there. However, I gifure there are more permission issues still persisting, because when I try to add OS X Server account on a Mac 10.8.2 client machine I get the following results:
    Open System Preferences.
    Click "Mail, Contacts & Calendars".
    Click "Add Other Account..."
Choose "Add an OS X Server account" anc click "Create".
Choose the server listed (which does display the correct server) and click "Continue".
Enter your name, username, and password for the network account.
    Click "Set Up".
This results in the message "No services are available for this user".
All the services are up and running on the server, and the network user does exist on the server, and has all services enabled on the user account.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!
    ~Mike

That's what I meant with "[...] and has all services enabled on the user account" -- all services are enabled for this user. I'm thinking its either a permission issue or something to do with the user account. I will try this will a different user account that hasn't been used on this computer yet.
Update: I'm getting this for all users across the board. This just leads me to believe that there are permission issues with the user accounts at some level on the server due to my hard drive migration.

  • Link Mac account with server account

I haven't been able to find anything on this issue, thought I would post and see if anything comes up.  Before switching to 10.6 from 10.5, I had each Mac workstation's main user account paired with an XServe account in System Preferences - Accounts.  When we needed to share a volume from any station, we could just choose the share permissions from an automatically generated list of server accounts.  After upgrading to 10.6 (with clean installs, as there had been too many upgrades and migrations over time) we have lost the System Preference option to select a server account, so we have to enter those server accounts manually.
Is this something that has changed from 10.5 to 10.6?
I have tried creating new accounts, hoping the option would return, but no luck.  I still have the option on my Mac Pro but I installed over 10.5 (I know - asking for trouble).  Has anyone else found this problem?

I guess you running a open directory on your server, have you paired the Mac's with the server, The new way do that is in account preferences/login option/join network account server.

I HAD two accounts because of this problem.  I completely removed the problem account from the Apple Mail client.  Guess what is happening??  That's right - Mail is still sending from the other account that no longer exists on my computer, and I have absolutely no idea how this is happening.  This is incredibly frustrating.  When a recipient chooses to reply to my message, quite often I won't get it now because it is going to the other account that has now been deleted from my system.  COME ON APPLE!!! WHAT'S THE DEAL WITH THIS???

  • Can I get more than one account on iphone microsoft exchange server

    Hi all,
I was trying to get more than one account on iphone microsoft exchange server for mail, but it seems to only accept one. Is this true with everyone else out there. I guess I am one of the few people with more than one email account that uses microsoft exchange. I would love to have the convience of accessing them through iphone mail but it seems that I will be forced to use safari for the other two by typing owa... in the url.
any workaround to the one email account per iphone policy??

Yu can only have one Exchange Server account per device. This is true to iPhone and any Windows mobile device in the market. The work around is to set your other accounts that reside on an Exchange server using IMAP or POP settings as you used to do before the Version 2 update allowed you to sync directly to the Exchange Server. This methode will allow you to add as many accounts as you want or have.

  • How to setup e-mail account without deleting web mail server

When I delete e-mail on i-phone, it delete web mail server mail also.
I like to keep these web mail server mail.
Like old i-phone 4 was not delete web mail server mail, even I delete i-phone mail.
Please tell me how to set up e-mail on i-phone.
    Thank you

I had things set up that way and it worked fine. However, last week on my iPhone, my bellsouth.com account kept coming up with "the POP server is not responding," but the account worked on my Macs and my iPad. I deleted the account and added it again. Now it seems to be an IMAP account (the POP server still does not respond). When I access the "advanced" tap in the setings, when I click "Deleted Mailbox" under "Mailbox Behaviors" it appears to show an option to leave mail in the server inbox but the word "Inbox" is in grey and not clickable. Has ATT changed its servers?
