Hi,
There is no such "PCMCIA express card" card.
You can find something like these on the market. But this option may be more expensive than buying a new TV tuner now.
Regards.

  • How can I test the digital media card reader?

New notebook DV6-6B58SA digital media slot is not responding to plug in memory DUO SD card.
The SD has successfully downloaded via the USB.
The PMB has been successfully updated to ver.5.8.02,
Are there any diagnostics to test the SD reader slot.?
I remember that Realteck (?) softwaredriver upgrades failed until tech. support recommended uninstall and reinstall.

    Hi Allan
I have tried ten different makes of card and they are all the same. Even tried a brand new one straight out of the packet. That did not work. All the cards work with my wifes old windows laptop.

  • Poll: What Media Card Reader to Buy?

My digital camera uses xD type M media card. The Camera is an Olympus SP-500UZ. I have found that a Lexar Media Card Reader (Model 22) will not work with my eMac. If you are successfully using the xD type M media card, please post the make and model number of the card reader you are using.
Thanks in advance for your reply.

This is not a direct answer to your question because I do not use xD media but you might check out this SanDisk 12-in-1 reader. It's specs indicate compatibility with Macs and handles the xD media.
I have found SanDisk to be an excellent manufacturer of readers. They want about US$35 for this reader. This PriceGrabber page lists over 40 sellers of this reader with prices starting at about US$24.
To make sure this reader is totally compatible, contact SanDisk tech support.

  • X200 with 3-1 Media Card Reader w/o modem available?

    Hello
Is it possible to configure an x200 wtih the 3-1 Media Card Reader w/o Modem instead of the 5-1 Media Card Reader w/ Modem. Their is only one option for the x200 ( 5-1), however for the x200s the option for either one is available. So if call lenovo would I be able to get the 3-1 instead?

I am confused by this as well.  I don't quite understand why it gives you the option of 3-1 without modem or 5-1 with modem.  You would think the less capable card reader would go with the modem...  The price was the same either way on the x200 so I just did 5-1 with modem.  Still a bit unclear on Lenovo's part if you ask me.

  • Vivitar Media card reader. Read only?

    Hello
Everyone I have a Vivitar Media card reader and every card I put in shows up read only? Any ideas?

Never reformat a camera's memory card using your Mac — always reformat the card or delete pictures from it using your camera's menu commands, not the Mac. A card that's been formatted on a Mac or had pictures added to or deleted from it by a Mac is likely to be found unusable by many cameras. Reformatting in the camera usually resolves that problem.
As for your card being seen as read-only by the Mac, that's not a drawback if you adhere to the practices I've recommended above. But if you want to use an SD card for something other than uploading photos from your camera to your Mac, then it's a pain, and the problem ha been reported here a number of times before. For some people, inserting the card very fast into the SD slot has remedied the problem. Others have found that they need to push the card slightly upward, downward or to one side or the other while inserting it, rather than just pushing it straight in. Still others have found that certain cards' locking sliders bind against the side of the slot and get pushed into the locked (read-only) position as the card is inserted. You can experiment with all these ideas and see what happens, but in some cases just switching to a different brand of card has been the answer. And while it's irksome to contemplate resorting to a USB card reader when you have what ought to be a perfectly good SD reader built into your computer, for some people that has been preferable to relying on an unreliable SD slot.

  • Smart media card reader

I cannot get my new imac to recognize my Olympus smart media card reader nor read the card
    what could be the problem
I can read other cards in my other card reader, compact flash, SD etc

In System report under usb I show
USB Media Adapter........ highlight it and I get
    0x07b4 (Olympus Optical Co., Ltd)
so it would seem the computer knows there is a reader out there but not seeing the card in the reader
I have reformated the card in the camera also

  • Smart Media Card Reader Needed

Does anyone know of a "known compatible" Smart Media card reader that will work with a MacBook--preferably without using a driver?

Any old usb card reader should work fine. I use one that cost less than £5. As soon as I slide in a memory card, it pops up in the finder sidebar as a drive, no driver needed.

  • Stackable media card reader

Is there a "stackable" media card reader/writer for the Mac mini?

  • PCMICA Media Card Reader only mounts once per session

After I restart and insert my PCMICA media card reader will show up on the desktop but only once. After I eject the card and reinstall it will not show up on the desktop. The card appears in the menu bar but no where else not on the desktop or in a finder sidebar. It acts like it is permanently ejected. The only solution is to restart which is time consuming during a photo-shoot (Sleep/Wake and Finder Relaunch do not solve this). I have two media card readers one for CF cards and a 4in1 for smaller cards. Both act in the same way and once one has been ejected the other wont mount as well. Both cards worked fine in system 10.3.9. System log does not show any difference in loading when it mounts and when it doesn't.

Well, I tried the hardware test and now we know it is a software problem(hardware checks out fine).
I checked out the Delkin website. That was disappointing. Looks like I need to buy more hardware to solve this one. Worse yet if I spend the $100 for two cards they wont work in my next laptop as I plan to get a MacBook as soon as PhotoShop is Intel ready.
So now the question is what do I do with this growing mountain of unusable peripherals. My business is small but we've bought a lot of macs. Close to 50 now. We had a few before Y2K and just before we replace all the PCs with iMacs and G4's. System 8.6 was great and every printer and reader and camera and scanner and external storage device (some going back to 1989) worked great. Now that we have "upgraded" the software so we can do really complicated things like properly viewing web pages and send authorized email nothing works right. I have faxes (Apple 56k in a G4) that can't detect detect dial tone when faxing but can connect to the internet as a modem. Printers that print fine in TextEdit (PS fonts and all) but can't print out of Excel. Dont even get me started about fonts. The list keeps growing and the only answer I hear is to replace perfectly good hardware with new stuff. Then when I do I find the software wont work. (I had to use a old laptop with 10.3 to run the latest software from Version to set up a friends home DSL.) I need to get out of this loop it is costing more than it's worth.

  • X1: media card reader speed

    Hi,
I'm considering to buy a fast SD card as extension to SDD. Since these cards today support 90-100 MBps read/write already, and it's growing (check out the upcoming Toshiba Exceria Pro R:260/W:240!), I was wondering whether the host controller won't be a bottleneck.
Does anyone know what's the maximum read/write speed supported by the internal media card reader?
    It's about X1 from 2011 [1294-2NG], the controller is Ricoh R5U822 (PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_E823&SUBSYS_21E817AA&REV_04)
    Thanks!

  • T510 Media Card Reader and XD card

I have a T500, but just got my daughter a T510. She is now away from home at school and having trouble with the media card reader. Seems it is very different from the one in the T500.
Is there any place I can get instructions on how to use this reader T510 media card reader?
Her camera uses an XD card, which just slips into the T500 reader, but she says that the media reader is a tray in the T510.
Can it read an XD card? If so how does it operate.
    Thanks

  • Old extreme n, and usb media card reader

hey, i am trying to hook up an iogear usb media card reader, a usb memory stick, and a portable 2.5" hdd to the belkin mac mini usb hub, and the hub to the old airport extreme n base station.
the usb stick and the hard drive are recognized without any problems.
the media card reader shows up in the disks tab of the airport utility, but it doesn't show something is connected to the card reader when a card is added. it just keeps showing 0MB in all four slots.
usb hub is powered, card reader is not.
when i connect the reader to the AEBS directly i get the same result, so i don't think the hub is the problem, since it runs other two devices flawlessly.
usb card reader works fine when connected directly to any computer as well.
any ideas? is it not possible to connect a card reader to the base station?

    Unfortunately not.
The only devices that work are printers, disk drives and hubs.

  • USB and Media Card Reader disabled after installing DM

I installed the DM 4.3 from the CD tonight. Hooked up the BB and everything worked fine. Loaded some music onto the media card and downloaded some pictures. Then I unhooked to see if the music was on the Blackberry, when I hooed it back up, it wouldn't recognize. I tried a few times, then uninstalled the software, re-installed, still nothing, then un-installed and downloaded 4.7 and installed, still nothing, now my computer doesn't recognize ANY USB ports (web-cam, Media Center Remote) and none of the Media Card reader drives are visible in My Computer. When I insert the SD card from my camera, nothing. I uninstalled 4.7 and still nothing. Now I'm worried..
Please tell me that I don't have to wipe the whole computer and start again.. Please!!
