Digital signature not visible

For 4 months the visible signature worked perfect.
But today when I make a visible signature it is not visible.
It seems to be kind of periodic:
I tried one PDF document, and the visible signature was not visible
Then I tried with another document, and the first time the signature was visible.
When I tried more times on the original second document, the signature was every time invisible.
I use Windows 7, 32 bit, and Adobe Acrobat XI 11.0.10.
Regards Finn

I use digital signature with certificate.
I don't know why I got the idea that the signature was there, but invisible.
I can now see that I still have the possibility to sign the document where the signature is "invisible", this indicates of course that there is no signature.
And there is no signatures in the Signature panel.
However, this is what I see:
I press the icon "Digitally sign document"
I drag with the mouse to select the area for the signature
In the dialog box "Sign document" I choose reason, and click "Sign"
I choose a name for the signed document
I give the code for the certificate(at this time the signature is visible on the document)
After this there is no signature but the ducument was saved with the new file name
I don't get any error mesages during this
But in the dialog box "Sign document" I now tried to press the "Review" button
and I get the message:
Report code          Description
2007                    Page content may silently change
1001                    Comment or form field may silently change
1002                    Comment or form field may silently change
Does this information help?

  • Acrobat Standard 8 - why is the digital signature not responding?

Using Acrobat version 8 and it is fully updated.
When I try to insert a digital signature, it freezes and when I eventually close the digital signature window, it says it is not responding and the program shuts down.
This is using a document that I use frequently and only recently started having problems with the digital signature.
Why is this happening and how can I fix it?
    Thank you!

    Hi,
I'd like to clarify some points. You use a digital ID to create a digital signature, not unlike how you use a pen to create (what we refer to as) a wet ink signature. When it comes to applying a digital signature to a document, you can sign just about any blob of electronic data. You can sign your e-mail or a MS Word document as well as a PDF file. The signature itself lives either in the document (that's how Acrobat does it when signing a PDF file), or it can be an external attachment (that's what the smime.p7s file is you might see attached to some e-mail messages).
Here is where I'm a bit confused. How many digital IDs do you have access to? If you only have one, does it cause Acrobat to lock up when signing a specific PDF file or when you try to sign any PDF file? Same question if you have more than one digital ID available to sign with, they all cause Acrobat to lock you when signing just one specifc file or any file? When you try to sign, are you signing an existing signature field, or are you creating a signature on the fly, be it either visible or invisible? If it is just one file that is causing the problems then that file is probably corrupt. If it's any file then it is a more systemic problem and I don't have an off the shelf answer for you.

  • Want insertion of Digital Signature not to require a save

I have an issue that I would appreciate someone's help on. I have been with Adobe Tech Support via their portal. Yet I have not been able to establish whether what I want to accomplish is doable.
What I have is a document that actually consists of several documents, which in aggregate comprises our application for persons wanting to drive for us. For the sake of this scenario please understand that the document is not to be broken up into multiple files. It is created as a single document to facilitate the management of the numerous applicants by in-house staff.
Anyway - this form has multiple digital signatures. The department head insists on this as each section of this document has information to be attested to as original and accurate. However, we find that only the first digital signature is used to certify the document, and any additional serve only in a "confirming" capacity.
So we have this document with multiple digital signatures, the first of which certifies the document and the remaining as "confirmation". And all of these digital signature fields are set as "required" in their properties. The form is developed and presented for testing. So we enter just one of the several digital signatures and attempt to save the file. What we expected to happen was the pop-up of a dialogue to point out that all of the required digital signature fields were not completed. But no such warning arises, and this circumstance "raises an eyebrow" or two within the firm, who expect this edit to appear.
Based on recommendations from Adobe support I go out to the developers site and research scripting. After several hours I come away with a script that will indeed spawn a message when any digital signature is missing. However, another problem arises. After closing out the dialogue box and inserting the first of several missing digital signatures I am immediately required to save the file. The save works and here we have the form with several digital signatures still not signed. This allows the user to forward on the form to us, at which time the file will be reviewed and returned to the user for further completion. And in the event that only one of several missing signatures is entered, and the file again saved and forwarded, this scenario has the potential of being repeated several times.
Is there any way through scripting for the insertion of the digital signature not to spawn a save of the document? Thanks!

Is there any isight as to how this is done?
I am currently opening a file from Teamcenter engineering, however if I try to save the file it complains there is another copy open elsewhere (which isn't true).  I have to export the file first, save it and then check it back in.  It seems to be the only area that behaves like this, as I am able to markup the document add pages, etc and save the document just fine.
If I could remove the save as function and just use "Save" I think that this would help.
    Appreciate any/all replies!
    Regards,
    Sean.

  • Digital Signature Not Showing Up in Saved PDF

I am frequently sent pdf contracts that need to be filled out, signed and returned.  I turn the pdf into a form and then add a signature field, click "certify with visible signature," sign it and save it as a pdf.  But then when I email the signed pdf it has all the form content but doesn't show the signature. Same for when I open the file in Preview.  The signature only shows up in Acrobat.  Can anyone help explain what I am doing wrong?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
It was dsaks  who originally asking about creating a digital signature and that's what the core of this thread is about. When Mobius Strip  asked about flattening the signature into a bitmap image that I suggested using a custom signature appearance, because the progenitor of the thread was asking about digital signatures. If they can get by with using a custom stamp then that's fine by me, but that wasn't the thread topic.
    On to your questions:
    mrtoner wrote:
I understand why Adobe won't (if that's the case) license the digital signatures ability so that Preview and other applications can use it. However, it should be trivial to allow that wet ink signature appear in other apps and I don't see a compelling reason to prevent it -- afer all, it's not a digital signature.
There is no licensing involved here. The PDF specification is public and the Acrobat SDK even has an example of how to create your own signature plug-in. When it comes to the actual cryptographic operations we license the software from RSA. As far as how the signature is created, and how it should be processed, that's all covered by public facing documentation. In fact, Apple is more than capable of processing signatures using their Keychain utility, it's just that they have elected not to include that functionality into Preview.
If your job is to monitor this forum and assist users, why couldn't you manage to suggest that the other users use the stamps feature, since it was clear that what they were wanting was only the signature image? These folks are spending hundreds and thousands of dollars on your products and they deserve better than this.
It's not my job to monitor the forum. I chime in on digital signature issues because it's a complex subject and there are so few people who understand the minutia of how they work. If dsaks hadn't added  "certify with visible signature," to the original post I would have skip this completely, but he/she did so I tried to answer their question.
Finally, it's a bit disingenuous when you stated "The image does not display at all, except in Acrobat/Acrobat Reader". It just doesn't display in the free Mac Preview app. There are other third party signature handlers that will process and display a digital signature in a PDF file, but there are not a lot of them in free PDF viewers. As I said above, if dsaks can get by with a custom stamp then great, but if he/she needs a cryptographically sound digital signature then there is no reason why not to created it because everyone can get the free Reader for the Mac, Windows and Linux platforms.

  • Digital Signature not allowed Acrobat 9.5.2

I created a form in Acrobat Pro and saved with extended functions. I'm using Acrobat Standard 9.5.2 which allows me to add digital signature. Most other employees can add signatures as well. However, there are a couple (using the same version software above) that when they open the file the security for digital signature is set to "Not Allowed". When I open the same document signatures are allowed. Therefore, is appears their software settings is setup differently than everyone elses. Can you help identify which setting needs to be changed?

    Classification: For internal use only
I can't attach images at this point. The security method for both is No
Security. However, on the other user computer next to signature it states Not
Allowed. However, when they open the same form they see an error on top that
does not show up when I open the same form. The error message is, 'At least
one signature has problems. Please fill out the following form. You cannot
save data typed into this form. Please print your completed for if you would
like a copy for your records'. However, when I open the same for I do not get
that message. It almost seems like a security setting within their reader or
    not.

  • Digital Signature(not detached)

    Hello!
Is it possible to create not detached signature? For example, signature of file. non xml!

All digital signatures are detached, by nature. What makes them part of the signed object are technical standards describing the signed object with the included signature (as in PKCS7 or XMLSignature). You can, technically, create a signature on any object - text or binary - and attach the signature to the object in any manner that is meaningful to your application. However, if you want the signed object to be portable, then you must use one of the defined standards so that other applications can understand where your object begins and ends, where the signature begins and ends, etc. without your having to provide detailed schematics of your "proprietary" data structure.
In the long term, even if you believe other applications will never access your signed objects, you are better off using an industry standard for the signed objects since you will enhance your own knowledge on the standards (thus increasing the value of your own skills), while maintaining some semblance of order in this increasingly chaotic IT world.

  • Boot failure: Digital signature not found

Just bought a Toshiba Satellite C885D-S5320 and it was working great.  Packed it up this morning, unpacked it a few seconds later and tried to turn it on.  Got a message that reads "Boot failure: a proper digital signature was not found. One of the files on the selected boot device was rejected by the Secure Boot feature."
I didn't make a recovery disk but tried to use the hidden recovery feature I'd found out here.  Worked great to abou 76%, then that message came up again.  Help???

I bought the same computer from Walmart for my daughter for Christmas. I have had to send it in three times to have the hard drive fixed as it showed the same error that you were getting. I was very mad as the first time I had to pay $25 to have them ship me the box to send it in to them. I also tried at first to return it back to Walmart but was told it was to late and I would have to go through Toshiba. I just received it back again today. They have had to replace the hard drive three times. This is ridiculous as I have had several other computers and laptops and have never had to have a hard drive replaced before. I told them I was not paying the last two times to send it in for repair as it should never of had to go to them the first time. The girl did send me the box free the last two times but honestly I think they should just give me a whole new computer as I think these ones are lemons! I cannot believe a brand new computer would need to have a hard drive replaced 3 times in 5 months! The girl advised me if it had to go back again they would probably finally do something. I sure hope your is working better then mine.

  • Digital signature not avalaible on my document

    Hello,
I'm working on the implementation of digital signature with the ADS but i have a big problem. The sign button functionnality is not available anymore on my document. In the sign menu, the only button available is the "Preview Document".
The security properties of the document indicates that the Signing is allowed.
My process consists in an offline scenario.
I'm working with adobe reader version 8.0.
Do you have any idea to resolve this problem?
    Thx for your help,
    Pelaez Lopez Philippe

    Hi Philippe,
You could try placing a signature field from the pallete when designing the form in the Adobe Designer.
Then when you run the application (for eg. a web dynpro for java) that contains the Adobe form, you could sign the document with a valid signature.
    Hope this helps.

  • Digital Signatures not enabled in Reader 8

I have created a form in LiveCycle Designer 8 and I have used the Digital Signature feature, but when the end user opens it up in Reader 8 they are unable to sign the document. Am I missing something is the creation side of it?

Where could this be enabled - in the designer?
    Thanx for help.

  • Digital Signature Not Showing Up

I'm in the process of creating a form, which has two digital signature fields on it.  (One for the supervisor, one for the supervisor's employee.)  I then submit this to a classic ASP script (process_form.asp#FDF) which contains code to save the fields to an FDF.  The code is below:
    <%@ Language=VBScript %>
    <%
    Set FdfAcX = Server.CreateObject("FdfApp.FdfApp")
    Set FDFin = FdfAcx.FDFOpenFromBuf (Request.BinaryRead(Request.TotalBytes))
    FDFIn.FDFSaveToFile "C:\inetpub\wwwroot\JBO\test.fdf"
    Set FDFin = Nothing
    Set FdfAcX = Nothing
    %>
I then open the FDF back up in the browser (which of course merges it with the original PDF) and it shows all the information I filled out in all of the fields EXCEPT the digital signatures.  I know the signature's in there, because I can see evidence of it when I open up the FDF in a hex editor, or even notepad.exe. (I can see my email address, for example.)
What am I doing wrong?  How do I get the signature(s) to show back up after the form is signed?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just wanted to update this thread for anyone who might have a similar issue - I solved my problem; it was quite a bit easier than I thought it would be.
The documentation says to concatenate the original PDF with the FDF generated when you submit the PDF form to your ASP processing script, so...that's what I did, using the ADODB.Stream server object.  The only thing I did with the FDF Toolkit was use it to save the FDF to a temporary file so I could read it back with ADODB.Stream.  I then wrote the PDF and the FDF back to the Response object and voila, I have my signed PDF, along with all the fields on the PDF form stored into a SQL database (except the signature.)
For anyone thinking about storing the signature into the database, I suppose you could, but it's generally much easier to write a PDF to the disk and store a link to it in your database.

  • Digital Signature not to install into keychain

    Hi all!
I have requested and genereated a digital signature with trustcenter.
According to all postings here, after the final installation step the signature should pop up in keychain in My Certificates.
Alas, it just installs into Certificates.
Anyone a clue, why this might be???

Am I really the only one here, having this problem???

  • Creating and using a digital signature - Not Working / Help Please?

I have Acrobat X Pro (10.1.11). I am trying to setup a digital signature that is either a scan of my own signature, or a digital version that looks like hand writing. I've gone through a number of help documents and I am still getting something different. What I get is a Printed Name with some text next to it (i.e. Digitally Signed by "my name" DN: cn="my name, o, ou, e-mail, etc.".
Anyone have any idea how I can start from scratch and create a digital signature that I can simply place on PDFs that looks like my siggy?

I believe you are confusing digital signature and digital signature appearance. You can create a custom appearance and use it in your signatures. Go to Edit->Preferences->Signatures->Creation & Appearances->More... In the Appearances section in the bottom portion of the dialog select "New" button. Configure Signature Appearance dialog comes up. In the Title field you enter the name of this appearance. In the Configure Text section of the dialog you check which values you want to have in the text part of the signature appearance (you can deselect them all). In the Configure Graphics section you can select one of the radio buttons. "Imported Graphics" allows you to browse to the file that contains your scanned signature (or your picture ). "Name" will place your name as it appears in your signing certificate.
Then when you sign a PDF in the "Sign" dialog click on the down arrow in the Appearance: section next to the displayed appearance name (out-of-the-box is says "Standard Text") and you'll get a drop-down list that contains the name of the appearance that you created. Select it and that will be the appearance of your digital signature. This same drop-down list contains "Create New Appearance..." item which when you select it allows you to create a new appearance in the same way as I described in the first paragraph.
After you select your appearance it will show up when you sign again.

  • PC thinks my iPhone 3GS is a Digital Camera, not visible in Itunes

    Hope someone can help
I bought the 3GS iPhone 32gb today and went to register on my PC and when connected to the uSB ports it was detected as a camera and only gives me the option of Photo Shop etc
It is also visible in 'My Computer' as a camera
I tried various USB ports as I believed only half where USB 2.0 the same happened after each restart, so I bought a new PCI USB 2.0 card and tried it through that with the same issue.

    Latest version of Itunes installed
    Restarted comp several times

This is normal; it IS a digital camera, and this is how you get photos off it.

Open Task Manager (CTRLSHIFTESC), click on the Processes tab and the Image Name column to sort on name. Then look for AppleMobileDeviceService.exe (AMDS). If it is present then your problem is most likely a USB driver problem; try updating the USB drivers. If it is NOT present go to Control Panels, Administrative Tasks and launch Services. Find the entry for AMDS, right click on it and choose Start.

  • Digital signature not showing in PDF when opened and printed with Preview

Not being able to find anything after searching high and low, I thought I would try my luck here: when I certify a PDF file using a visible signature in Adobe Acrobat Professional that signature does not show when I open the file in Preview or print it from Preview. Preview's Inspector information also claims that I can make changes, which I instructed Adobe not to allow.
Thanks for any feedback on this!

Try re-uploading the PDF and then updating the course. Sometimes the conversion doesn't take and the tracking doesn't apply correctly to a PDF.
