Disable Sync for Facebook "Albums"

I'm using Aperture 3.1. I've created and upload several "Facebook Albums" from Aperture. It's always worked great. I've selected the pictures and uploaded. However, I've used the Facebook interface to enter captions for each picture; I have NOT edited the metadata in Aperture.
After uploading a new Facebook album tonight, I closed Aperture and then considerable spent time in Facebook adding captions each picture. When I next start up Aperture, it starting "syncing" several of my Facebook albums, including the one I just entered tonight. This is the first time this has happened (but then, in the past, Aperture has never remembered my Facebook password and I've had to "manually" log in to upload pictures/album).
In syncing, Aperture removed all the caption data in the ablum I had put in via the FB interface (it replaced it with the default version name). I understand that if I had "caption" data in the comment section of the photo's meta data it would use that. But I don't want to put that meta data in there. There are times I want to have different caption data depending on where I publish my pictures, or depending on the "set" I publish.
So my question is, is there a way to turn off "syncing" of "Facebook Albums" in Aperture ? I just want to use Aperture to simply upload a select group of picture to a given Facebook Album.
TIA,
John

Aperture will actually only sync. You may want to look as a 3rd party plug-in that offers upload functionality.

  • How-to: Disable syncing of document library for individual users or groups

    Currently, as far as I know, disabling syncing for a document library is all or nothing - everyone with access can sync, or nobody can sync.
    Ideally, there would be an independent list permission, "disable syncing," which appears when assigning permissions to a permission level.  (Syncing is allowed by default if access to document library is granted, opposed to an alternative
    approach of having "enable syncing" which would set the default the other way).
    Given that this level of granularity is not provided out of the box (yet?),
    is there any way (SPD?) to disable syncing for individuals?  (Or to disable syncing for the entire library, then enable syncing to individual users?  Depends on who there is more of, 'syncers' or 'nonsyncers'.)
    * I know that syncing can be disabled across the board.  This is not an option.
    (2) "Open with Explorer" seems to be tied in with syncing, disabling syncing disables "Open with Explorer".  Is there a way to keep "Open with Explorer" functionality while disabling syncing?

    Hi,
    According to your post, my understanding is that you want to disable sync option in library.
    To disable sync option, and keen the open with explore option, we can use the JavaScript to achieve it.
    I have made a code demo below to disable sync option for a particular user, it works like a charm, you can modify it to fit your scenario.
    <script src="../jquery-1.11.0.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    <script src="../jquery.SPServices-2014.01.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript">
    var userid= _spPageContextInfo.userId;
    var requestUri = _spPageContextInfo.webAbsoluteUrl + "/_api/web/getuserbyid(" + userid + ")";
    var requestHeaders = { "accept" : "application/json;odata=verbose" };
    $.ajax({
    url : requestUri,
    contentType : "application/json;odata=verbose",
    headers : requestHeaders,
    success : onSuccess,
    error : onError
    function onSuccess(data, request){
    var loginName = data.d.Title;
    //alert(loginName);
    if(loginName=="Administrator"){
    $("a[id='ctl00_SyncPromotedAction']").hide();
    function onError(error) {
    alert("error");
    </script>

  • Syncing multiple iPhoto and Facebook albums

    Hallo everyone...
    I'm using iPhoto '09 on 3 Macs under the same LAN. Every Mac is set to login to same Facebook account and post photos. In this scenario I have:
    • Mac A created a album and shared to Facebook
    • Mac B created a album and shared to Facebook
    • Mac C created a album and shared to Facebook
    When I check Facebook, I correctly see the three album posted, but every Mac "sees" in its library only the album published and not the other two from other Macs...
    Is there a way to see on each Mac all the albums posted in Facebook from the others? Since they "share" the same Facebook account, I suppose it would be a great option!
    Thanks in advance for your great job!
    Raf

    Are you going to continue using iPhoto on yoru old Mac? As documented changes made to the ihoto library are synced to Facebook  --  if you simply trash the iPhoto library on the old mac then nothing will be changed in FB - if you delete them using iPhoto then then changes will be synced

  • Aperture deleted several Facebook albums during the sync process--what can I do?

    After I enabled the sync between Facebook and Apeture---the program began downloading albums and "republishing" them to Facebook. However, it wasn't able to download all of my albums which resulted in the app from being able to "publish" them back to Facebook. The albums are now lost. Never experienced this problem with Picasa. Only began when I started using Aperture.

    Same issue here.  Lost every photo in eight albums!  It's trully a travesty since these were the only copies I had of these pictures and was precisely the reason I was trying to sync to Aperture!
    And before I get scolded for not having backups, I did (Macbook, iPad, TimeMachine). Due to a series of unfortunate events, however, they were lost as well.
    Keep backups and download your FB data often!

  • How to disable Soundcheck for a single Album

    Hello,
    Soundcheck option in Preferences works pretty good for me, since I shuffle from classical to metal.
    But, inside a single album, say, an Opera which is meant to be fully played w/out pauses, I don't want the volume to be leveled throug Pianissimo and Forte tracks.
    Question:
    Is there any way to disable Soudcheck for a single Album so iTunes does NOT calculate peek levels on its tracks and does not set gain/loss accordingly?
    Or do I need to turn off Soundcheck on the iPod when I want to listen to that particular Album?
    I have tried "Volume level" slider but it sets the overall volume gain of the Album and not the relative level between tracks. Also the "pauseless" option (sorry, I use a localized version) is no solution.
    TIA

    Is there any way to disable Soudcheck for a single Album
    No.
    Or do I need to turn off Soundcheck on the iPod when I want to listen to that particular Album?
    Yes.

  • I want to erase the automatic sign-in of username & password for facebook, because firefox always rfemembers my username & password. How will i disable it? please help.. thanks

    How will i disable the auto sign in of my username & password for facebook?

    If you saved the password in Firefox, you can clear that here:
    orange Firefox button > Options > Security > "Saved Passwords"
    ''or''
    Tools menu > Options > Security > "Saved Passwords"
    It's also possible that you have a cookie that keeps you logged in, but in that case, signing off from Facebook should end your session.

  • Naming Mobile Uploads Albums for Facebook

    Whenever I upload pictures from my Droid Incredible to my Facebook account, they automatically get placed in the "mobile uploads" album. Is there any way to create a new album when uploading? Thanks a bunch!

    @lady_g, yes there is a way! Follow the steps below:
    - Open your Photo Gallery (Gallery app)
    - Tap on Album (e.g. Camera Shots)
    - On the bottom bar, Tap on share button (the one with two arrow going in opposite directions)
    - On the "Share via" list, Tap on "Facebook for HTC Sense" (not Facebook!)
    - Now tap on one or more photos that you want to upload and tap the "Next" button
    - Optionally you can provide a caption for each photo on the next screen. Once you are done, Tap the "Upload" button
    - On the next screen, the very first field is the "Album" field. Tap on it to choose an existing Facebook album, OR tap on the first option on this list to "Create Album".
    - Provide an Album Name and tap OK.
    - Now choose how you would like to share this album and Tap "Done".
    Hope this helps!

  • Select key photo for iOS albums synced with iPhoto on Mac

    In iOS 7, if a user was syncing photos from iPhoto on a Mac to an iOS device, it was possible to choose what key photo would be displayed for each synced album in the Photos app on the iOS device.  In iOS 8, this seems to have been removed, and when syncing, a random photo is now selected for each album instead, which doesn't seem possible to change.
    Has anyone been able to find a solution/workaround to this?
    I'm guessing/hoping control will be restored to the user when the new Photos app is released for Mac OS X Yosemite, but any feedback will be useful.
    Thank you.

    Same issue. Ever since upgrading to iPhoto on my retina MBP to 9.4.2. Problem seen with BOTH my iPhone 5 on iOS 6.0.1 AND iPhone 4S on 5.1.1, so not an iOS issue. For me, it impacts both albums and events. In fact, sometimes you can't even see the event under iTunes->device->photo tab, until you exit iPhoto &amp; iTunes and restart both with phone plugged in. There is a workaround for the album's mis-order: by manually sorting photos through dragging a photo to a new location within the album and then placing it back. However, this doesn't work for mis-ordered photos under events.  Right now, I just have to live with it....  I have even tried removing all photos, deleting iPod photo cache, and starting anew. Even 1 event with 30 photos have the same problem.....
    Really annoying as I like to see my event photos sorted by date.
    Somehow, such syncing problems always seem to occur EVERYTIME there's an iPhoto upgrade. Are apple's departments so siloed? Do they not work with one another to test a software before releasing it?
    Apple, please investigate and fix the issue ASAP!

  • Disable file sync for team

    Does anyone know if it is possible to disable file sync for my team?

    You can do this on the mac by creating a managed preference file and publish this out by profile manager and or other methods such as Munki.
    The preference file that handles this is com.adobe.accmac.plist. and the key is called AHPreferenceEnableSync set to Boolean type.
    Your users will think that they can turn this feature on but the result is it will fail to load the file sync window and nothing will sync. Below is what the preference should look like after modifying it. If you don't know much about managing preferences please take the time and learn the basics. If you have questions just let me know.
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

        <key>AHPreferenceEnableSync</key>
        <false/>
    </dict>
    </plist>

  • Why am I missing artwork only and exactly for the albums I downloaded from the iTunes Store when I then sync them from PC (non-Mac) to my iPhone??

    Why am I missing artwork only and exactly for the albums I downloaded from the iTunes Store when I then sync them from PC (non-Mac) to my iPhone??
    And why can I not find a way to post this message to Apple Support without paying 35 Euros?

    Thanks, randers4,
    I don't do auto-sync. Too much music on my PC for that. I manually copy and/or delete.
    And I did delete the iTunes-acquired albums from the phone and then copied them back on:
    No change...

  • Does iphoto automatically download facebook albums?

    *** you can skip the next paragraph***
    I've been scanning, sorting and uploading family photos over the past few days and I'm finding iPhoto's integration with various web services ennerving.
    First, hundreds of megabytes of photos started uploading to photostream, seemingly at full quality, I stopped the process after about 300MB had been uploaded. The behaviour of uploading full quality photos to Photostream is ********! Some of the photos were about 10MB each...
    Anyway I found the setting for that and disabled it, it's in the PhotoStream preference tab.
    Now I noticed that after uploading an album to Facebook with the share feature, iPhoto didn't want to let me change anything locally without changing it on Facebook too. So some photos that were mainly of friends of the family, that I wanted to delete locally, because it's no one I really care about, but keep on facebook, but iPhoto wanted to remove them from Facebook too! And the opposite problem, some photos (rare) are somewhat inapropriate for Facebook, whether it being me naked at 1 year old or throwing up all over the place (examples, not necessarily my situation), but I can't choose to omit any photos from my albums for sharing on facebook either, it wants the whole album or nothing at all. What the ****.
    Now I thought I was being smart by exporting a bunch of photos to file and manually uploading them to facebook, thus avoiding all these sync. problems I just described. But as soon as the album was manually uploaded, iPhoto decides to download all those photos from Facebook to synchronize my computer to facebook 100%. What the f#&^?! That's exactly what I wanted to get around. And now I have duplicates of a 100+ photo album and my only option is to revert to sharing it from iPhoto, thus uploading all the **** photos again and losing all control.
    Is there any way around this? I suppose I could just disconnect facebook from my iPhoto...

    When I use iPhoto for iOS to share to Facebook I first get a chance to share one photo or select several.
    Then I see a choice to upload to an album, usually Wall Photos, but there in only that one album visible.
    Tap on that album and more choices come up. These include, eventually, all of my albums. I can then choose the album to which I want to upload the photo(s).

  • Any way to get iPhoto'09 to recognise existing Facebook albums?

    Is there any way to get iPhoto '09 to recognise existing Facebook albums?
    It would be nice to have all the previous albums I've uploaded to be listed in iPhoto and all the 100's of people I've already tagged would serve as a nice basis for the iPhoto face detection to learn who my friends are!

    This is an interesting workaround, but misses the spirit of the original post. I don't know a way to get iPhoto '09 to recognize existing FB albums, but I agree that this is a serious problem with iPhoto '09.
    The iPhoto '09 Facebook and Flickr uploaders have one "cool" feature - they automatically sync iPhotos events with FB "albums" or Flickr "sets", so if you make changes to the photos in iPhoto, then those changes are reflected in the photos on FB and Flickr automagically (this has been working for me in FB but not in Flickr). The more I use this the more I think it's more trouble than it is useful and I wish I could turn it off and just use the old exporters without syncing.
    There are problems with the exporters:
    (1) the constant syncing with FB/Flickr can get annoying if you're making several changes, if you have a slow internet connection or slow computer.
    (2) If you don't actually want the changes to be reflected in the FB/Flickr album (i.e. i delete photos out of iPhoto to make room on my disk for more photos and now the photos are deleted out of facebook) can get not as user friendly as the original Facebook and Flickr exporter was easier and more user-friendly.
    (3) syncing is cool for a computer programmer to do, but what if users don't want it all the time? What if I don't want my Facebook albums to be exactly the same as my iPhoto albums, and I don't want to split out all the photos that I don't want on Facebook into separate events in iPhoto? This lack of support for the truly useful & user friendly (if a bit boring) features is a really unfortunate oversight.
    (3a) in the old version: i can quickly and easily choose exactly which photos from which events I want to upload to FB.
    (3b) as the original questioner mentioned: I can choose whether to upload to into a *new or existing album*. Hands down, this was *the single best feature* of the previous uploaders.
    (in Flickr this is of paramount importance since the free Flickr account only allows 3 "sets" - so, since this fancy iPhoto syncing links your events to sets in Flickr, you'd have to create 3 massive Flickr-only events in iPhoto in order to stay within their restrictions. I like to keep my iPhotos events separate, but I'm perfectly happy uploading photos from different events into one of my three Flickr sets. i'm pretty sure i can still do this with FFXporter or similar.)
    (3b) in the old version: all the photos i upload are put into a "pending" album on FB so that I can tag people, delete some photos (without deleting them off my own iPhoto), etc. before sharing them with all my friends. I'd like to have at least the option to choose whether they go into a pending album first or not.
    (3c) it's further annoying that you cannot browse your iPhoto library directly (from most websites) when searching for photos to upload, you have to export the files first, then browse to where the photos were exported.

  • Tagging Facebook albums created in Aperture not working

    I'm trying to publish a Facebook album from within Aperture (3.6), and am having trouble getting the tags to stick in Facebook. When I go visit the album on Facebook, the tags are there, but not actually linked to the people. For example My friend John Doe, would be tagged in the photo in grey writing, but it is not a clickable link, and when I go to John's Facebook page, he hasn't been tagged in it.
    I suspect the issue is related to this forum post: Facebook contacts not syncing
    When I go to John Doe's Faces entry, it shows the correct contacts entry.
    When I go to the contacts entry, it has his Facebook profile under the "Facebook" field, but there is no small F under his contact picture, and when I tell os X to update all profile pictures his does not get updated. Also, it seems that my Facebook syncing is not syncing all my Facebook friends, only a select few, who I suspect meet the criteria discussed in the above thread. So, what I suspect is happening, is that Aperture thinks that John's faces entry is connected to a Facebook account (possibly from some legacy link with contacts) but Facebook's new policy is making it so that John's contact is not being synced from Facebook to iCloud.
    I can't figure out a way to manually link his contact card to his Facebook account. Entering his Facebook homepage web address does nothing as far as I can tell.
    Any help would be appreciated. It ***** spending all the time tagging faces in aperture and then having to re-do it in Facebook.
    PS: Running Yosemite, all programs up to date as of nov 22, 2014
    Edited for spelling

    It shows for me within a minute.  I don't have Facebook enabled.  I would:
    - reboot and see if that forces the tieing of any loose ends, and thus allows this feature to work
    - maybe try it on a new Library, or a Library used in another User Account on your machine
    - see if someone who does use Facebook tries the feature and reports on whether it works
    I'm confident Library size/number of Images is not part of the issue, unless you have several thousand named Faces.
    Just to make sure we are "on the same page":  you go to Contacts, select a contact, double-click the picture assigned to that contact, and never see "Faces" in this dialog:
