Discolored screen

I haave my mini pluged in to a 32" Samsung via VGA. Using a VGA TO VGA cable with the apple included DVI TO VGA adapter. Almost daily, more sometimes, my screen looses blue color and a yellow hue appears. It flickers from normal to yellow. I have to push the plug in at the mac to solve or wiggle the adapter. I do tighten the cable and adapter screws, but the problem returns. Is it the crapy apple vga/dvi adapter design or a video/mother board issue? Anyone having a similar problem?

There is a certain amount of stress placed upon the DVI port when you have both an adaptor, and a monitor attached to it due to the weight of the cable. While it may possibly be the DVI port itself, it's more likely that the problem is with the cable or the adaptor. You may wish to try a different DVI-VGA adaptor and cable, and see if that solves the problem. Unfortunately you're going to have to do some experimentation to try and isolate the problem.

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.
If basic troubleshooting does not resolve, it is most likely a hardware issue and will need to be taken to Apple for evaluation.

ThinkVision LT1421 discoloration w/ magenta all over screen

Hi -- I've had my new LT1421 monitor for just two weeks for work, but it now consistently has a discolored screen, where many parts of the screen show magenta now, instead of the intended color. It has just been sitting on my desk, so I'm not sure what caused this.
I seem to have the most updated drivers for my laptop. It's also not just an overall coloring problem, because many pixels are fine. Also the discoloring pattern changes depending on the image on screen. Anyone else see this? Should I exchange this for a new one?

I've seen this before. It happens to me on a fresh install. I have a 21.5 LCD screen that does this when I reinstall the OS. I always then have to go in a change some pixel setting in the ATI CCC. I use the HDMI connection.
I there any relations here? Any HDMI and AMD GPU's being used?

Zagg/Apple Care question

I have an appointment at the Genius Bar because my phone is one of the 'lucky ones' that has a discolored screen. I had it about a week when I noticed that, when using certain apps and looking at photos, there is a circle-shaped discoloration on the screen. I've looked over the apple care info and I can't find that a Zagg screen protector will void the warranty, but I just wanted to make sure before I drive an hour to the nearest apple store. I'd hate to get there just to find out that they won't replace the phone because I had the Zagg.

Having a screen protector on your iPhone will not void the warranty. I have had 2 iPhones replaced under warranty over the last couple of years and they just remove the screen protector and take the old phone and give me the replacement phone.

Ipod nano screen discoloration or darker area

Hello, I purchased an ipod nano on September 18th and did not purchase an extended warranty. I have noticed when i got it that on the screen there is a little discoloration or darker area in the center of the screen, it is more visible when held farther away, or while palying the game brick. (because of the diffrent color of the back ground, easier to see.) It can also be seen while the ipod is off and if you tilt it at an angle. Is there any way I could get this one repaired, since it is with-in 30 days of purchase? Also if I can get it repaired, what would be the price if I decide to get an extended warranty for my ipod nano? Thanks very much, Matt

It's difficult to know what exactly is wrong with the iPod, but if it were me I would take it to an Apple store and have them take a look.
The iPod warranty is for 12 months from the date of purchase, and if you have no Apple store nearby, you can arrange online service.

The AppleCare extended warranty is $59. You can get this at the online store or a retail store.

My Ipod 2nd generation has a problem. I'm not able to charge it and the screen has a discolored look...everything is pink.

IPhone 5 screen discolored

I have owned my iphone 5 since November , I have never dropped it and it has never seen water damage. When watching a movie or when I'm at the main home screen the top of my screen is discolored the black looks like there is white lights showing threw it .

Take it to your nearest Apple store for an evaluation.

Discolored areas on screen

Argh. There's two large areas in the upper 1/4 of my screen that are discolored.
When I look at the screen with a lighter background - text messaging, calendar, notes, the metal pinstriping background, etc, I can clearly see these large white "circles", about 1/4" across, on either side of the screen. Diameter, maybe 1". One on the left is worse than the one on the right.
It's one of those things where now it's ALL I can look at every time I look at the screen.
I've babied the phone, so its definitely not some sort of physical damage (that is, caused by dropping it or anything).
Anyone else see this on theirs? Best way to see it is go into Settings, and pull the window down so you see a lot of the metal pinstripe background.
Taking it to the 5th ave Apple Store early in the AM, hoping to get a quick replacement, especially with all the reports of folks getting replacements for just 2 dead pixels!

i have exactly what you describe...on the welcome screen where you have the time and date...mine looks like a spotlight shining on the gray background on the upper right side of the screen. It drives me nuts and I hope it doesnt spread. It is more pronounced on mail and text where the background is white. Then, the color looks a feint yellowish white and bright. Were you able to fix yours?

MacBook Pro Retina Heat Issues Screen Discolored

I've been having major heat issues while using the Mac, mostly it has been heating up while playing games. I have been using an external monitor and had the lid closed and when I opened the lid i saw the screen was discolored by the heat that was coming from under the keyboard? The fan seem to be running full throttle most of the time using the discreet graphics card.
Do I need to contact apple care?

Anyone had any screen discoloration in the 2011 macbook pro 13inch?

I've begun to notice my Macbook Pro 13inch I bought just August of 2011 has a slight discoloration that is only visable when the screen is black. Anyone else with this model have the same issue?

No it's just this weird line like thing. I can't afford to hand my mac over to the Genius bar for a week either. It's how I work and if I don't have a comp, I lose my job.

Green discoloring at the top of my Playbook screen?

I just noticed that when my playbook changes to a black screen there is a green discoloration at the top of the screen. Is there any way to fix this? I have next dropped it and it is only 5 months old.

many LCD can not make a tru black and some color might bleed through
this is not related to software usually, if a restart does not fix it then maybe you have a screen that is faulty. I bet it has cured ( glue dried) as it is 5 months old as there have been some displays in teh past that would do this on my laptops we bought.
if present in most screens it will be time to call warranty support.

Iphone 5 screen has rings and discoloration

I bought the new phone and when i took the screen protector off and started using it i saw that the screen seemed discolored. When i turned it off it went black but shows circles and there is even a white spot near the top of the phone!!!!

anyone else have this problem or had it on older phones?

I observed my iPhone 5 screen discolored this morning for the first time since February this year, for once I thought I was loosing my eyesight. It came back to normal after a while and just this evening it's back making it twice same day. Apple please let me know what cause this and how to solve it.

New iPad (retina) screen discoloration

Anyone else having problems with screen discoloration? My iPad has a distinct purple cast on the top left hand side of the screen...

Yes I have noticed same problem in my New iPad. [discoloration in the right corner of the main screen(light purple color)]
First I’ve noticed black mark on the front camera view display. It appears at the corner of the front camera view leaving black spots on photos and Face Time video. Soon noticed the discoloration on the screen.
Then I contact the support team (Been advised to restore the iPad, which didn’t fix the problem), they been helpful.
I will have my replacement, (with in 4 days)

Here's another discussion post that talks about the same thing--worth checking out. Apple has replaced my screen and entire top clamshell piece (covered under AppleCare) but it's happening again so I have to get it replaced again.
