Discontinuation data

Hi,
I have one error getting during setting discontinuation indicator and follow-up material in MM.
I need to discontinue one material with other material as follow-up material. But when i am putting the other material as follow-up material it is giving me the error" The specified follow-up material results in recursiveness".
When i have analysed then what i found is , the follow-up material is already discontinued in other plant. But does it make any sense that if the material is discontinued in one plant , I can not use the same materil as follow-up material in other plant?
I hope that discontinuation of the material is at plant level not client level. Is it correct? if yes then why I am getting this error.
I have checked the BOM also there is no recursiveness in the BOM.
Please resolve my problem.
Regards
Deepak Sharma

Hi,
Thanks for response. But how can i resolve this issue as my one discontinued material in one plant can not be discontnued in the other plant. And follow-up material in one plant can be discontinued in other plant.
Please advice.

Does it have any MPR setting to be done in IMG Or is it available as default for all SAP ECC 6.0

in SAP standard without any change in feld references, these fields are visible in the MRP view.
If they are invisible in your system, then you must have changed the settings yourself.
about which transaction are you talking?

  • Plot discontinuous data in labview graph/chart

    Hi,
I would like to plot discontinuous data in a graph in labview.
The data is aquired and plotted over time - butduring certain periods there is no data aquired.
I don't want during these times any "line" between the adjescent points - I just want simply "no line".
Maybe the best way to show it is this example of a javascript chart
    http://www.highcharts.com/stock/demo/data-grouping
    - zoom into the time around november 2005
During certain times there is no data - this is implemented in the datastream as "null" instead of a vaild floating point number - similar to NaN for floating point numbers - the javascript code knows that in this case there should be no interpolation.
Is there any way to have a similar behaviour with labview charts or graphs ?

Yes.  Place an NaN value in the array where you data break is before sending it to the graph.

  • Discontinuation  data in BOM and MAterial master

    Dear all
pl. tell how to maintain data for parallel discontinuation.
    thanks

    Hi Raj..,
    1. When you want to replace a group of materials by material you will use this.
    2. in the mrp4 view the materials which you want to replace put Discon ind "1" and the remaining materials in the group "3". and give the followup material name.
    3. In the Bom select the material to replace and select (F7). in the basic data tab click  "Discontin. Data". give the Dis cont grup and follo up grup.

  • Discontinuation Material in MRP run

    Hi,
In our scenario, we are using Discontinued parts with (Discontinuation Ind - 1, Effectivity-out date - Nil) with follow-up material in MRP4 view of MM.
It is observed that whenever there is no sufficient stock exist, dependant requirement is not transferred to the follow-up material during MRP run. However is the same is happening during Material Availability check.
Is there any IMG setting for this to happen during MRP run also.
    Thanks in advance.
    Parthasarathy P

    Hi ,Parthasarathy,
if an item to be disticontinued item , the following must be true.
    1. you have to define Discont ind= 1, and followup material  in MRP VIEW,
    2. Both Discont item and followup items should have same base unit of measure.
    3. When BOM of Header Material creation, discontinuation data is maintained for the discontinued item and follow-up data is maintained for the follow-up item -in CS01.
    4. Then you have to assign some value for Discontinuation Group  in "Discontinuation Data" for your Discot item in BOM. -in CS01
    5. Then create a followup group with same value of Discont Group for yourFollowup item -in CS01.
During the MRP run the Dependent requirements of header material will be transferred to Followup item if it is not enough stock of Discont item.
Please check your Discont data has defined in BOM. The value of Discont group and follow group should be same.
please letus know for further doubts...

  • Same discontinue and follow up material?

I have used before this function having a follow up material with indicator 1 and effective-out date. However, this time I have 3 materials A, B, C.
The logic I want to use is the following but I'm not sure if SAP supports this:
    A = discontinue material and B = Follow-up material. Using indicator 1
B = discontinue material and C = Follow -up material. Using indicator 1.
So far, SAP is not allowing me to have B as discontinue and follow-up material at the same time. Any insights?
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi Lee,
If you try to set the discontinuation for a follow-up material, then error message "Message no. 61224 -Multi Level Discontinuation not suported" will be generated when you try to run MRP. Refer Note 398238 - Error message 61224 for parts provided

    Hi Experts,
    I am  new to interfaces
I have one requirement in Idocs, i.e the changes of artical master data is send to sap to nonsap system through idoc.
idoc type is ARTMAS05, msg typ is ARTMAS.
I am giving some information for my object.
For article (MATNR) by site (WERKS plant)
         If MRP Type (MARC-DISMM) = u201CX0u201D
              Then if changes to fields:
              MARC-KZAUS     Discontinuation ind.
              MARC-AUSDT     Effective date out
              MARC-NFMAT     Follow-up article
Then send idoc type ARTMAS05 with the following data
    segment E1BPE1MATHEAD
         MATERIAL
    segment E1BPE1MARCRT
    MATERIAL             PLANT                     DISCONTINU
    EFF_O_DAY            FOLLOW_UP

The planning system for our client is nonsap system. This software requires to be informed of relevant changes on articles in order to start its planning runs. When an article is superseded by another we have to send the replacement article (if any) as well as the discontinuation date.
    Dependencies/Prerequisites :
Change pointers for Article master active
         Change pointers active for fields:
         MARC-KZAUS      Discontinuation indicator

Filter to only send idocs for materials in the u201CAutomotiveu201D type where MARC-DISMM = u201CX0u201D.
So this is my requirement, please send some sample code or idea how to complete object.
    with regards,

    Hi,
All the details mentioned seems to be correct.
just change one "automotive" material and check change documents are getting generated.
i hope partner profiles are already in place.
once change docuements are inpalce check RBDMIDOC program is scheduled in back ground or you can manually execute the program for testing.
    and check the IDoc generated.
do you  want supress some segements?
di your NOn-sap ssytem can accept Idoc?

  • Discontinued parts in BoM explosion reports

I am having difficulty with the BoM explosion reports (CS11-13, and CSP1-3), in that they seem to take no notice of discontinuation.  In particular we have some assemblies which are discontinued, and replaced by alternative parts with a different sub-assembly BoM.  It does not seem possible to explode through the new BoM - the reports appear to continue to use the obsolete assembly.
Am I doing something wrong?  It would seem clear that the reports should explode the BoM through the new assemblies, particularly if there is no stock of the obsolete part.
Is there an alternative way to get a BoM explosion report which does take note of the discontinuation data?

    Hi,
In my opinion discontinuation is considered only during MRP run (planning) and has nothing to do with BOM reports (CS03, CS11, CS12, CSMB, etc).
    SAP online help:
If this indicator is set, the material is defined as 'to be discontinued'. The material is then discontinued in MRP. MRP transfers dependent requirements that are no longer covered by stock of this material to the follow-up material.
So, I think you won't see the follow-up material in BOM reports. Even if you maintain the discountinuation in BOM I think you cannot see the actual sitruation in BOM reports (you will see both follow-up and discontinued material).
I hope I'm mistaken and this is a solved issue in SAP.

  • How to Select Discontnuous Dates

I am building an Window form application using Visual C#, I need to provide an interface for users to select dates; the dates selected can either be a single date, such as, 03/14/2015, a range of continuous dates, such as, 03/01.2015-03/31/2015, or a range
of discontinuous dates, such as, 03/11/2015, 03/20/2015, 06/16/2016 etc. My challenge is which Window forms control can I use to achieve the last option of selecting range discontinuous dates.

This is not supported by the native Windows calendar control, so Windows Forms can't do it either. The MCS_MULTISELECT style only enables the user to select a date range.
You can ask the user to select dates first, then bold/unbold the dates selected by the user when the user click some other buttons on your form.

  • Discontinuity and Follow-up Materials for Finish Goods

    Dear all,
We have used for a long time the Discontinuity functionality and Follow-up Materials for Raw and Packaging materials (components in BOMs).
We would like to use the same functionalities for Finish Goods, but after setting fields in MRP4 View, it seems not to work as it did for components.
Is it possible to reproduce the same effect in Finish Goods as we had with components, i.e., use some kind of Discontinuity and Follow-up materials for Finish Goods?
We currently work with R/3 V.4.7.
Thank you all in advance for any support.
    Best Regards,
    Alberto

    Dear Alberto,
If my understanding is correct then this discontinued material concept works only for the components and not for the finished
    product during MRP.
    Discontinuation Data Use
In MRP, the discontinuation functionality is used to transfer dependent requirements of a component to one or several follow-up
materials, if the requirements are no longer covered by stock. You can also define a follow-up material in the bill of material.

  • Process Order is not picking the follow-up material

    Hi Gurus,
We have changed a BOM by discontinuing a component and giving a follow-up material with the valid from dates as 18/5/09.  and then MRP is run on that nignt  ( mrp job set to run daily in the back ground). and on 19/05/09 a Process Order is created from the planned orders genereated by the MRP run.
now, we found that the new componenet (follow-up) is not copied into the process order, but the old compomemt (discontinued) is removed.
MRP parameters are correctly defined (Planning mode is set to 2) .  Please let me know if we are missing anything.
    Thanks,
    N

    Hi
Pl ensure that the Following requirements have been met before you can use the discontinuation functionality:
    1) Both materials must be planned using MRP.
    2) The base unit of measure of the follow-up material must be the same as the base unit of measure of the discontinued material.
    3) You must enter discontinuation data for the discontinued item and follow-up data for the follow-up item.

  • Alternative item with follow-up material

    Hi,
I have a finished product X for that component A-1 pc and B-1 pc is required.
Now A cannot be used in next year thatu2019s why my client wants 1) to issue 2 pcs of A instead of A-1pc and B-1 pc until the stock of A is available. 2) If the stock for A is not available then only it goes for B.
    1) I have used alternative item grp with priority: 1, strategy : 2, usage probability 200% for A and priority: 2, strategy : 1, usage probability 0%  for B
System issues 2 pc of A only
    2) Also maintained follow up material as B so if there is any shortage for A then system is looking for B.
Problem is with the above setting the follow up material and alternative item is not working together.  System issues only 1 pc of A if I maintained B as follow up material. If I maintain only alternate item then it issues 2 pc of A but at the same time it will not check B if any shortage occur.
    Pls help.

    Hi,
[Kindly check this link |http://help.sap.com/saphelp_47x200/helpdata/en/a0/1016bd4c8311d189520000e829fbbd/frameset.htm] which has information of the below.
    Alternative item group
You can only define discontinuation data for a stock item or variable-size item that is not assigned to an alternative item group.
Once you have maintained discontinuation data for an item, you can no longer assign the item to an alternative item group.

You are due for a new build or pre-built, most definitely.
you should be able to hit score of 14k on 6-core w/o trouble.
And for what you can get for £1799 - £2099 I think you could build one, but start with quality parts and go with a solid foundation that will be supported for years. As long as you don't need OS X as it stands.
the mac pro use to shine when it came to dual processor setups. Custom built dual PCs can be another matter, and not for faint of heart.
Choose current socket support, processor, and motherboard and you really are set for years and can upgrade from there.

  • Creation of alternative material in production

    Dear folks,
    I have following requirements:
Customer orders Material A and for some reason (e.g. low stocks), the mrp controller decides to produce an alternative material (B) which is
equal to Material A. This also counts for planned independent requirements.
How can I maintain this in SAP? I tried to use alternative item group in the BOM, but this does not solve my requirement, since this is just a function to assign an alternative BOM position for Material A. I really need to assign an alternative material on header level.
The assignment has to take place before actual production. We cannot use Material Determination (SD) - Transaction VB11.
Any ideas? Is this something we have to develop?
    Kind regards,
