The option to update without the computer (Over the air) was made available with iOS 5. If your iDevice is using a version of iOS lower than 5, you will need to use iTunes on your syncing computer to perform the upgrade. Use the Apple link below as a guide for the upgrade.

Effects with Software Monitoring off?

I looked for an answer to this on the forum, but couldn't find one.
I prefer to monitor with the "software monitoring" off to avoid the slight latency that occurs. Is there a way to hear some reverb on the input track when in this mode, or what do you do to avoid the latency if SM is enabled. I set the buffer lower but it is still audible.

Turn ON software monitoring and set the track to "no output" and use a send to go to the reverb. You monitor only the dry voice direct from your interface and only the reverb through Logic.

Using the battery level meter in this manner is comparable to using your car's fuel gauge to calculate miles per gallon. The only thing that matters is the total amount of operating time from full charge to auto-shutdown.
Use the wall-mount charger that came with the iPad and charge overnight. Admittedly the labeling is hard to read but, if you use a magnifier and squint your eyes, you'll see "Output 5.1V, 2.1A." The symbol between volts and amps is the symbol for DC. Do NOT use an iPhone charger. Do NOT use an iPod charger. Then, operate it normally until auto shut-down (ignore any low level alerts that may appear). An irony is that doing that test to determine the total operating time is also the exact procedure necessary to calibrate the battery level meter.
I'm not claiming that you do not have a problem. I am stating, however, that we don't yet know whether or not a battery problem exists.

Since download of Firefox Hello my home desktop & laptop, both on Windows 7, are very slow to open. I have refreshed firefox, removed download history and turned off the anti virus software in extensions. All the plugins are up to date. Can we revert back to Firefox without Firefox Hello?

Firefox Hello is simply a wrapper for technology already in Firefox, it doesn't negatively impact performance if you aren't using it. Are you saying that your entire computer is slow or just Firefox?

Virus Software Turned Off & Internet Connection Problem

My laptop has been slowing down, but it was fine otherwise. A few days ago, I turned it on and received warning messages from the HP Action Center and HP Support Center that my Kaspersky Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware software was no longer on. I never turned them off and they've been working fine for 6 months or so, so it's not like I just installed them recently. Since the problem started, I've tried several times to turn them back on, but the computer just doesn't do anything. It asks if I trust Kaspersky and want to run the app, I click on yes, and then nothing happens. I've also tried to run the software by using the Kaspersky desktop icon, but that won't do anything either. The same time that this problem occurred, I also lost my ability to fully connect to the internet (DSL connection). I can get to the Firefox homepage, but whenever I try to get to any other website, even simple ones like Google, nothing happens. I've tried everything I can think of to fix these problems (except for using the refresh/restore option, which I'd like to avoid if possible). I've power-cycled the modem, run diagnostics and network checks, and I installed MalwareBytes from a USB drive and ran that scan, but it didn't find any problems. At the same time that these other problems began, I did see a brief notice that said that a Windows update failed, but I don't know if that caused these other issues or if it just failed because the other issues prevented the update. Kaspersky's tech support has not been very helpful. Does anyone have any suggestions? Keep in mind that I can't access the internet from the affected computer, so I can't download anything directly to it. Thanks in advance for your help.

Web Portfolio Software Advice (off topic)

hi all.
i have been really happy with my ability to organize a very large amount of images in Aperture and to publish them easily to Flickr (among other things).
this has now freed me up to focus on creating a new website for an old website that needs updating. right now i have just created a /link/ for the pictures on the webpages which takes the viewer to the flickr albums.
i am looking at "themes" such as the WordPress Photography theme (http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/photography/) and i am also looking at sites that are using the "autoviewer" or "autoviewer pro" software.

anyway, i am familiar with using wordpress UI but i am desperately trying to find a method where i don't have to use the wordpress image uploader. i guess the holy grail would be to just "publish" album "code" out of Aperture that i would then embed into a WP theme website which i am sure i could create in a week or something.
anyway, does anyone know of anywhere i can ask such questions or get some leads on keeping this workflow simple but create a nice website at the same time?

I liked "Waves" and thought most of the sounds were good- the piano was very realistic to my casual listen. I did however find the backing strings of the first couple of minutes to be fairly "synth" sounding, maybe that's what you wanted, but to me it could have sounded more like an actual string ensemble. Later on it seemed to be working more to my liking with the strings playing individually.
It's not the most expensive thing out there, but I have been using IK Multimedia's Philharmonik, which is not good for a lot of things, but it does really capture a real "woody" and "dry" sound on the cellos, violas, etc.
I also tend to agree that MySpace could be a good addition for you. And I notice that your vox on the podcast was only coming at me from the left.
Keep it up! It's a lot of fun to do- I'll send you a thing I wrote with Philharmonik and Sibelius 5, it's sort of just me learning those and not really finished, still, you'll get an idea of what Philharmonik sounds like.

Software turns off mic inp

I have an Audigy 4 pro with the external breakout box and am using XP PRO.
Last night me and my friends started playing "Left 4 Dead" online using Teamspeak or Steam's in game voice chat. (The following problem occurs in either situation.)? The game keeps turning my mike off in the "Recording Control" mixer screen after a random period of time. I have to keep bouncing back to Windows and click the box back on under the Line-in /Mic slider. Some of the other players with Sound Blaster products were also having a similar problem.
I wiped the sound drivers and did a clean install and everything seems to work fine except for this recurring problem. This is definately a software issue.
I've also experienced the annoying "What U Hear" echo problem in the past when using a headset but have managed to solve that for the most part through the forums. Other game software still continues to randomly select "What U Hear" and I have to constantly mess with this settiing. I do not do any sound recording on my computer so I don't understand why these settings are constantly being altered. ?
Is there a way to lock the mixer settings so other programs are not able to turn inputs etc. on and off all the time.

I put a CD in the drive and nothing happens. iTunes does not have a "start" button, or some menu option to tell it to begin copying music to the library, so it just sits there. Now, after a coupel uninstalls, disc cleanup, etc., nothing happens when I insert the CD. I am lost here and about to sell my new Ipod Classic because it is useless to me. In iTunes, do Store->View my AppleID
Click "Deuthorize ALL"
Then, on any computers you still have, do Store->Authorize this computer. If there are less than 5, you will have no problem.
You can only do "deauthorize all" once a year, so in the future, if you ever throw a computer away, remember do to "Store->Deauthorize this computer" first.

How do I stop the MacKeeper and other fake Mac software adverts from appearing on my cpmouter everytime I'm on the internet?

There are a few things I know of that you can do to prevent pop-ups and ads from showing up in Safari and Firefox:
Safari:
-(1) Open up Safari. In the toolbar at the top of the screen, click Safari and make sure Block Pop-Up Windows is checked.
-(2) Try installing the AdBlock extension for Safari. And configure it by clicking on Safari, Preferences..., Extensions, AdBlock. You can install AdBlock for Safari here or here.
Firefox:
-(1) Open up Firefox. In the toolbar at the top of the screen, click Firefox, Preferences, Content, and make sure Block pop-up windows is checked.
-(2) Install the AdBlock add-on for Safari from here. Restart Firefox. To enable it (I think), go to Tools, Add-ons, Extensions.
I hope these tips will help you stop recieving pop-ups. I personally think the "Block pop-up windows" setting in Firefox works the best.

Crio-system in sleeping-mode or software-switching-off ?

i have a cRIO - 9012 system and i want to know, if anyone knows if it's possible to send a signal to a i/o module on the target that says that the cRIO-system should switch in a sleeping-mode or that switches it off. if it's possible how, and how can i turn it on again? maybe via the ethernet port ?
or does anyone know, if there is a module that has an elko or anything else, that can power the system for a few seconds after you switch the main power supply off ?

This Knowledgebase shows how to set the cRIO chassis and modules in sleep mode.
This "sleep mode" works only for the chassis (FPGA) therfore you will have implement "Wake on Lan" functionality in the Real Time part yourself.
There already is a Produkt suggestion for this feature so it may be implemented in the Future.
As far as i know there aint no C Series module providing a Capacitor huge enough to power the System for a few seconds.
But you can use standard Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) to power the System when the line voltage is missing.

Printing via any software,image off-center

drivers updated for win 7
my problem is when i try to print , my image gets aligned on left and get cuts off while printing on 8.5 x 11 paper, even the preview shows cut off image, if i choose a different printer than Hp like Adobe PDF printer , e.t.c the preview is perfect,
, i updated my driver for win 7 but no matter what i do it just dosent work! this same alignment problem occurs even in win xp , even though auto rotate and center is clicked , if i click "fit to scalable media" then it gets within paper but the image size is not what i want like (2 5x7 frames on 1 8.5 x 11 paper) even choosing layout as landscape doe snot fix this ,no matter what program i choose to print, acrobat,word,photoshop or illustartor the alignment problem is still there.
i tried sending these files to my 2 differnet friends, the one with hp all in one had teh same problem, and the one with other printer, teh image printed perfectly in center!

Software disappears off-monitor

I use a MacBook, and frequently connect it to another monitor - viewing both monitors, non-mirrored. Last week I was using iMovie, put it on the second display - and then the next time I opened iMovie without the monitor, the computer thought the second monitor was on and "shoved it" to the side - came up from the side the monitor is on (left) when I pressed F9, but I couldn't do anything with it. Next time I connected to the monitor I saw iMovie, moved it over to the laptop display - but when I restarted it got pushed to the other side of the laptop display and off-screen. So now, whether with one display or 2, iMovie opens up (appears on the menu bar) but I can't access the actual interface on the monitor. It shows up when I press F9, but disappears and I can't do anything on it. Any thoughts?
(and i have reset the display to different resolutions, I have turned mirroring on and off)

Turning screen savers on and off
You can start or deactivate your screen saver by moving the pointer to a corner of the screen. This is called setting a “hot corner.”
To set hot corners:
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Desktop & Screen Saver, and then click Screen Saver.
Open the Screen Saver pane of Desktop & Screen Saver preferences
Click Hot Corners.
Choose Start Screen Saver or Disable Screen Saver from the pop-up menu for a corner you want to use; then click OK.
