Discovery search licensing (standard CAL or enterprise?)

Hello,
when adding user to Discovery Management role Group, server summary reports that all mailboxes need ECAL.
But according to this blogpost:
http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2012/07/13/announcing-a-licensing-change-for-multi-mailbox-search.aspx
and Exchange licensing page:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/exchange/microsoft-exchange-server-licensing-licensing-overview-FX103746915.aspx
standard CAL covers the multi-mailbox search feature.
Should I just ignore Organization Summary info in EMC?

Hi Aurimas,
I would like to verify your Exchange version, Exchange 2010 RTM, SP1, SP2 or SP3? If not Exchange 2010 SP3, I recommend you upgrade to Exchange 2010 SP3. Things have improved on it.
The Enterprise CAL is no longer required for Multi-Mailbox Search after 10/1/2012.
What's more, here is a helpful thread for your reference.
Remove the Enterprise CALs required

Hope it helps.
If you need further assistance, please feel free to let me know.

  • Mix standard cal and enterprise cal

    Hi all
Is it possible to restrict the number of lync session that use enterprise cal if i got more standart cal than enterprise ones.
I mean if i got 200 enterprises cal an 1000 standards cal how can i restrict the use of this 200 cals.
The goal is when 200 users uses theres cal nobody else can use the enterprises features given by Lync.

    Hi,
For any Licensing issue, I recommended you contact Microsoft licensing service center to get further information. Thank you for your understanding.

  • Difference between standard edition and enterprise edition?

Is there any document describing the feature differences between Oracle 9i standard edition and enterprise edition?
Specifically is Oracle Text bundled with the standard edition?
    Thanks a lot
    James

    Hi,
    Check this document:
    http://metalink.oracle.com/metalink/plsql/ml2_documents.showDocument?p_database_id=NOT&p_id=112591.1
Apart from the features that are present in E.E. and not in S.E., there is little difference (except the license price...).
Note that some seperately purchased options are only available with E.E., not S.E. (e.g. Partitioning, Enterprise Manager Packs).

  • Oracle standard edition vs. enterprise edition

    Hi all
Due to cost constraints, we have had to downgrade our 8i Database Enterprise Edition installation to Standard Edition.
My question is: do we have to re-create our database under Standard Edition, to make it a 'Standard Edition' database, or can we just re-open our existing database (created under Enterprise Edition) with the Standard Edition?
I installed 8i SE and opened our database but, of course, SELECT BANNER FROM V$VERSION suggests we're still running the EE.
Are we breaking the terms of our licence by using this existing database?
    Very many thanks
    Andrew

    Hi!
My impression is during the database creation time, Oracle incorporates in data dictionary the options available for each product edition in that time.
Try to execute a specific operation that needs an E.E. license just like parallel query, advanced replication, and Partitioning.
    Execute this query:
    select * from v$option;
And compare to the Database Feature and Option Availability ( notes available on metalink ):
Differences Between Standard Edition and Enterprise Edition in 8i
    Note:112591.1
Differences between Oracle 8.1.x Personal, Standard and Enterprise on NT/2000
    Note:70059.1
As long as this is only my impression, try opening a SR to make it sure.

  • What is the difference between 9i standard edition and enterprise edition

    hi,
who can tell me what is the difference between ora 9i standard edition and enterprise edition?? relevant http links are also appreciated. thank you!
    regards,
    iron teung.

If your 'professor' really said that then I think you need to find a new college!I agree. 11g is a superset of 9i. In fact, you can tell 11g to run in 9i compatibility mode.
    >
I firmly believe that you would do well starting with
9i and then going through the new features with each
release to 11g.Since 9i is officially about to start it's second year in 'Extended Support' (which, due to the surcharge in support fee, will likely see a drop-off in adoption) I would encourage anyone studying Oracle database to start with 10g.
But the idea of starting at 9i is not bad.
    >
'Client' is the software required to
    access/interact/maintain an Oracle database remotely
from a client machine. Different features become
available as you progress from Personal to Standard
to Enterprise editions. They are cost related to
whichever license you buy in a production environment. One point of confusion is that Personal Edition really is targeted for the Developer and therefore includes all capabilities, features and options of Enterprise Edition turned on and included in the license. (Except RAC and OEM packs) When I draw a picture, I put Personal Edition at the top as most capable.

  • Weblogic 10gR3 standard edition and enterprise edition

Difference between weblogic 10gR3 standard edition and enterprise edition ??

WebLogic Server software is the same in all of the various download distributions available that vary on platform and 32/64 bit architecture. However, which features are licensed for use vary by the edition customers license, which is covered here:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14571_01/doc.1111/e14860/products.htm#i1041725
That link is for WLS 11g, but it applies generally to WLS 10.3.0 as well.

  • Can a C++ client use Oracle Standard or Oracle Enterprise version?

Can a C++ client use Oracle Standard or Oracle Enterprise version of Coherence or is the Grid edition required? Please keep in mind that I am only interested in doing what is legal from a licensing standpoint, even if some other options are technically possible.
    Regards,
    isailhobie

Yes, a C++ (or .NET) client can access a Coherence Grid regardless of what edition is licensed. In our parlance, this is called a "Data Client". A Data Client provides you access to data and services on the grid, for example with put/get/query, etc. A "Real Time Client" requires a Grid Edition license. Real Time Clients allow real-time synchronization with the grid; this enables continuous query caches, near cache, etc.
For a complete description of Coherence features by edition, including discussion of the three types of clients, please see http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14526_01/coh.350/e14510/appfeatures.htm#BABIGHCF

  • Lync with Standard CAL only.

    Hi all,
I'm looking at the best design for Lync if all users are going to be using Standard CAL's only. As functionality is far more basic is there any point to having an Edge Server and external DNS records etc?
The functionality seems limited to PC to PC so simply using VPN's for remote workers would appear to be an option. Are there any functions that would be lost using this design?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Depending on your thoughts for federation (both other Lync organizations as well as Skype or XMPP) there shouldn't be any reason to deploy Edge. Deploying Edge will enable you to shift to Enterprise CAL's and thereby have the online meeting capability (including
    externals) rather swiftly.
That being said, federation is providing great value for many organizations and I would definitively recommend it.
As per the pc-pc voice, you may find that running voice over VPN may not prove the best results, however don't forget the headsets in this case, they are equally important. Pc-pc voice may not become greatly used if you don't supply the users with some
    decent headsets.
You might end up looking at it from a financial perspective, and add your own thoughts on how widely used Lync will be come and how fast. That should be the major consideration in regards to the Edge server
Any plans on expanding the feature base of Lync soon ?, otherwise Lync Online might be an option, it might end up being cheaper and give you the online meeting / Federation capabilities at the lowest price.
    Hope this helps ?

  • How to search the indexes in 11g Enterprise Manager Console

    Hi,
After setting the Indexes using Java Embedding for a process, can you please tell me how to search the indexes in 11g Enterprise Manager Console for the particular process. In 10g BPEL Console we have the option of searching the Instances based on Indexes we already set at process level which is inbuilt in 10g. I need the same in 11g .
    Thanks,
    Sagar.

    Hi Sagar,
You can define composite sensors in your composite.
Then you will get fields in enterprise manager of that composite instance.(the sensors you have defined will be displayed here)
You can enter the values based on what you want to search the instance. :)

  • Using BizTalk Enterprise Edition 2009/2013 with SQL Server Standard Edition vs Enterprise Edition

    Hi All,
I would like to know what are the Drawbacks of using BizTalk Server Enterprise Edition 2009/2013 with SQL Server Standard Edition vs Enterprise Edition.
We are currently using Enterprise Edition.
    1) Are there any adverse performance constraints? Microsoft mentions to use SQL Server Enterprise Edition for "Optimal Performance" but does not expand on the topic.
    2) Any features missing?
    2) Is there a supported way to downgrade SQL Enterprise to Standard for an exisiting BTS Environment?
    Thanks!

    1) SQL Standard is limited to 4 CPU's and 64GB of memory while Enterprise is 8 CPU and 2TB or memory.
    2) The only BizTalk feature dependency on a SQL Enterprise feature is BAM Real-Time Aggrigations which requires Analysis Services RTA.
    3) Yes, but it's not a SQL downgrade really, you would move the BizTalk databases:

  • Need a clear answer on how to enforce Standard CALs usage.

I found a few related threads and Blog post but no clear answer.
Most of my users will have a standard CAL and I need to lock them down so they can only use those features.
I need a clear and concise way to do this and it looks like MS is unwilling to provide the answer.
Most of the information that I have found covers Lync 2010 and not 2013.
Here is the test policy I created but the CAL comparison charts I have seen it clearly state that PC to PC voice and video are allowed in the standard CAL. This policy as recommended by a MS rep disables that.
This is very confusing and in desperate need of Clarity.
    Identity                                  : Tag:Test-StandardCal
    AllowIPAudio                              : False
    AllowIPVideo                              : False

    AllowPolls                                : False
    AllowSharedNotes                          : True
    AllowQandA                                : True
    EnableDialInConferencing                  : False
    EnableAppDesktopSharing                   : None

    EnableP2PRecording                        : False
    EnableFileTransfer                        : True

    EnableP2PVideo                            : True
    AllowLargeMeetings                        : False
    EnableOnlineMeetingPromptForLyncResources : False

    AppSharingBitRateKb                       : 50000
    FileTransferBitRateKb                     : 50000
    TotalReceiveVideoBitRateKb                : 50000
    EnableMultiViewJoin                       : True

PC-to-PC computer audio/video call is allowed when you enable Lync users.
They are not controlled by controlled by conferencing policy.
And there is no policy to restrict these basic features.
The parameter AllowIPAudio and AllowIPVideo indicate whether a meeting can have audio and video.
Peer-to-peer audio and video call are not the same with the audio/video in a meeting.

  • Upgrading from Oracle 9i Standard edition to Enterprise.

I want to upgrade my database from oracle 9i(9.2.0.6) Standard edition to Enterprise edition.
Please suggest me as to what is the best suitable method
I was thinking of installing EE directly on Standard edition so that all the things remain intact is it possible?
Also if not then can backup and restore be used?
    Thanks in advance

    hi.
right now i have standard edition already installed as i said earlier. I want to upgrade from SE to EE because of using advance features like partitioning. DB size is 40 GB.
I know exp/imp would take a lot of time that's why I thought it is not a viable path.

  • In Place Discovery Search - "Search in Progress", not progressing?

    Hi,
When I click SAVE to run the In Place Discovery Search, it just seems to stay "in progress" and never complete.
I can run an estimate on the search and it seems to work fine.
    No errors to report?
    Suggestions?

    Hi,
From your description, if you select "Estimate the search result", it succeeds. But if you select "Copy the search results to the destination mailbox", it will be in progress. If I have misunderstood your concern, please let me know.
In your case, I recommend you click Refresh and check the result. In my environment, when I do the discovery search, it also displays "Search In progress" for a long time, but when I click Refresh, it displays the discovery result immediately.
    Hope it helps.

  • Exit Search Help Standard /DSD/RPSH_EX_DRIVER

    Hi guys,
I need know what is the best way to implement a exit search help standard.... I found that the help search /DSD/RPF1_SH has a exit search help called /DSD/RPSH_EX_DRIVER (Function Module), i need modify this exit search help standard.... the question is: is better unlock the object standard /DSD/RPSH_EX_DRIVER or create a copy of this Function Module into Function Module Z, then modify it and next link this Function Module to the search help?
    Any suggestion?
    Thanks.

/DSD/RPSH_EX_DRIVER has some unneccesary code in it... but it would be better to create another FM with the same signature and the code, and attach it to the search help.
