Display Black/Freezing after short time (Cinema 20")

I have a Mac Pro (1GB Ram) with a 20" Cinema Display
Occasionally the display will go black or freeze. This usually happens when running a full screen game, or the iTunes Visualizer, or the Screen Saver, nit always.. once this happens, the keyboard and mouse do not seem to be able to 'wake it up', I also notice that something is still happening because iTunes will still play music and games will still have sound
This does not happen in Safe Mode, making me suspect something in the config.

Yup!! Problem was an overheating video card. I broke the box open and took the card out. The input vent was all gunked up. So I cleaned it all out and now it runs great (and a lot quieter)

S4 Widgets Freeze after short time.

I use a couple of auto-updating widgets, including a trasparent clock/weather widget and the FlightStats travel widget. Both were repeatedly freezing on me. Not just update freezing, but I couldn't even raise the flightstats screen from the widget at all. I could get them to start responding by cycling the phone, or by killing TouchWiz and letting the launcher itself restart.
After poking around on some other forums, it's obvious that the launcher is at fault. I downloaded Nova Launcher Free, and imported my config from TouchWiz, and I haven't had a widget freeze since. It's now a week since I changed over. PReviously, my widgets would go braindead in a matter of hours after starting.
I am happy that I have (apparently) solved the freezing problem, but I'd much rather run the supported TouchWiz launcher. Does anyone know if Samsung/Verizon is aware of this issue? Might I expect addressal of the issue?

I want you to enjoy all the amazing features and apps your Galaxy S IV has to offer mjcecil! It sounds like you may be experiencing app conflict with your OS and user interface. I recommend testing in safe mode for starters to determine if there is conflict.

Firefox freezes after short time use and I have to reboot

My internet connection freezes (hangs) and I have to reboot to access it again. It keeps doing this and system restore did not help. I have windows xp (firefox is my default browser but I have also tried IE - same results). Our wireless PC on network works fine.

my iOS application displays black screen after slash screen.nothing happens and couldn't see any proper errors on debug utility.
I can build adhoc using flash builder and it's works fine but problem occurs when I create ipa using dumped config file on command line(ant)
I'm using flex sdk 4.6 and AirSDK 15.0(overladed) .my application includes few native extensions.

27 inch thunderbolt display blacks out after Thunderbolt Firmware Update 1.2

Bought 2 new 27 inch TB displays for two different machines and after a couple of days the Thunderbolt Firmware Update 1.2 appears on my Mac Pro with one of the displays installed. So I install the firmware update. Now my display blacks out periodically and I keep getting Graphic Display Errors with a request to sent the errors to Apple. Running a 32 GB Mac Pro (late 2013 circular style) I have three monitors connected (two 20 inch cinema displays and the new 27 inch display). This machine is supposed to be able to handle three 4k monitors or 6 standard TB displays. I've seen the posts about the blacking out with this monitor but I didn't have any problems before the firmware update and now I've got them pretty regularly. I had the blacking out problem on an earlier monitor and took one of the monitors back and Apple gave me another one and this is the replacement. Same problem, but this one only started after the update. I'm hoping someone from Apple reads these messages and can let me know what's up.
BTW, I also have an older 27 inch Apple monitor that ran perfectly on this machine so I'm disappointed that I spent all this money and now get the blacking out issue.

I have my Thunderbolt display connected to my MacBook Pro and have been experiencing the same issue, getting worse over time. The folks at my local Apple store did not know what to do about it. So, I looked around and tried different thing.
The one thing that seems to be working is to System Preferences > Build-in Display > uncheck “Automatically adjust brightness.”

Why does home sharing drop from ATV after short time?

I've been having the same trouble with my ATV and itunes homesharing. The connection fails after a short time and I have to restart the homesharing in itunes to get it to work again.

Portege 3440CT freezes after some time while the files are being copied

It seems I'm having the same problem as missred in this thread http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=19232 (on the bottom). Unfortunatelly I can't reply there that's why I'm writing here. My laptop version is 3440CT.
My try was to make a win98 bootable HD drive with i386 directory on it, boot from this disk and start the installation with winnt.exe. OK, it works but while the files are being copied after some time it just freezes. I tried it both with one partition and i386 on active system partition and with two partitions and i386 on a separate non-system partition. I don't have FDD or CD for the laptop.
Any ideas what is wrong? Is it possible to install XP on the same disk the XP installation is started from?

PS: My other tries were:
- complete XP installation on another computer and then switching the drive
- XP installation on another computer up to the point it first resets (after finishing of coping the installation files) and then switching the drive
both unsuccessful. I also changed the drive to another one as I suspected it's phisically damaged. Now I'm out of ideas ;)

It should work out this way, so........ is it really freezing or did you forget to include "smartdrive" ?
Be sure to include the file in the root-directory of your HD and put the right command in your autoexec.bat file

Since upgrade can surf past first tab can not back up after short time then whole program freezes not happy

I've just contacted the retailer and they're going to switch it - again. Hopefully it'll be fixed this time, otherwise I guess there's a fabrication error in these chips and we'll have to wait for Crucial to fix this (or we're going to have to look for another manufacturer).

Displaying large clock after short idle time ?

Hi,
When I leave my desk I'd like my Mac to turn into a large clock (since I can't read the small menu bar clock from a distance).
Is there a way to have a large digital or analog clock overlaid on the screen once there has been an idle time (mouse/keyboard) of a set number of minutes?

System freezes after extended time in standby after 10.6.2 update.

After updating to 10.6.2 my laptop freezes if left in standby for an extended time...say 45 minutes. I then have to force the system to crash / shut down in order to restart. I have to do this several times per day. Any one else with this problem...and / or a fix?

Sorry, topperharly, but I've tried everything suggested with no luck. I did the PRAM ~ NVRAM and SMC resets, I also tried the safe boot....no go. For now I have merely resorted to setting the laptop "energy saver" sleep time to "never." I don 't particularly like doing this to the computer, but it is better than having to force if off several times a day. Even when I shut it down manually, the next time I turn it on there is no video. So, I have to force it off, and the second time the video usually comes up. I'm afraid that one of these times it won't.
I hope Apple is aware of this. There are not many people posting to this thread. I have an extended warranty, and will call Apple tomorrow. If I learn anything, I'll pass it on.

Spotify only displays black screen after video driver crashes

Using Windows 8.1 64x, AMD 7800 series card with the latest AMD 15.4 beta drivers. This driver release is prone to crashing. Spotify, though, doesn't recover after the driver crashes and only displays a black screen. Restarting the program fixes the problem, but it shouldn't have to be restarted in the first place.

T410 & Windows 8 Pro 64bit - display black screen after wellcome screen

I'm using T410 and Windows 8 Pro 64 bit.
Sometime, when i boot start Windows, after Wellcome , the screen is black.
But when i press Ctrl+Alt+Del, its' appear Task Maneger...vv.v...... but when i try lo login, after then, it's re-appear Black Screen (with cursor)
I updated BIOS.
Display was updated by Windows 8 (not manual)
Please help me fix this issue.

Macbook air displaying black screen after windows 7 logo

i have macbook air 13" mid 2012, i ihave nstalled windows 7 ultimate 32 bits past week at the begining everything worked perfectly until yesterday as im not able to to use windows 7, whenevr i slect windows option my mba starts and goes to windows 7 logo and than after that there is just a black screen and nothing i can do after that.
but this problem doesnt occur when i boot into mountain lion, it only happens when i slect windows 7. can anybody help me out of this mess..??

My ipad on ios 7 keps freezing and when i turn it back on the slide switch to my password freezes after two times it lights up

See if you can somehow do the following:
(A) Reset iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
Note: Data will not be affected.
(B) Reset all settings
Settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings

Multiple queues, few people reporting issue, calls drops after short time

Random agents, usually about 2 or 3 per day for last couple of days, have reported that a call will be delivered to them from the queue and a minute or less into the call the call will just drop. It's happened on different queues on different call centers coming in on different PRI's, etc. Can't seem to find anything wrong and it doesn't seem to be widespread at this point. Just a couple of people a day have complained about it and they come in the next day and it's fine. Any suggestions?

Get some ANIs and time stamps, ask your telco to pull some reports on their side. Look at IGW logs (both Express and Enterprise) and termination detail records (assuming Enterprise).
